Hi everyone,
Lavender said she was tired of being stuck with pins… pins in her jumper, pins holding her sleeves on, pins holding the back of the tee together!! I guess she was right and my goal today was to try and get ALL the pins removed. And I DID!!! :o)
Her jumper is finished and so is her long sleeved tee.
Let’s take a look at how it all pulled together:
I finished her apple green long sleeve tee first… because I wanted to make sure her jumper fit over it…(Remember that fiasco with Sarah last year with trying to get the denim jacket over the gold and white striped tee?) I sure do… and I didn’t want a repeat of that.
I used tulle on the underside of the neck area on her tee…to reduce the bulk. Then I gave it a lettuce edge finish on the bottom. The back closes with hidden snaps.
Yay! It does fit nicely under the jumper…
Here are some pictures of the set full length…
I pushed up her sleeves to her elbows and liked this look too.
Here is a view of her laying down so you can see right where the hem comes to.
The inside of the jumper has been completely lined with the same fabric. The hem was the last thing I finished on it… and it was a bit tricky. I had to baste where I wanted it, then press up the hem on the basted line. I trimmed off the hem to about 3/4″ and hemmed it by hand.
Then I had to do the same thing with the lining but making it about 1/8″ shorter, basting it in place and then hand hemming it. Maybe you can see it in this picture.
So we have a jumper, a tee, a pair of leather shoes and socks for them. I need to see what else she should have… there are all sorts of possibilities… a purse, a headband with a bow, some kind of newsboy cap in a coordinating fabric, some books, or maybe something else. I’ll have to think about it.
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Lavender is looking very pulled together now! You did your usual excellent job of constructing the t-shirt and jumper. I don’t know if it was intentional, but the bottom of the t-shirt has almost a “lettuce” edge, so could be worn over leggings, too!
So….what could be next?! I think a newsboy cap would be cute.
My cloth dolls are not embellished–DeeDee and Olive each got a “brooch”. Now to take some pictures…..because if I don’t pretty soon, DeeDee is probably going to make a speech about how lax I am!! 😂
It is so funny when our dollies boss us around 😂😂😂
It sure is!!
Yes, Jeanne, Lavender looks more “put together” as you say, and like a real little girl, just getting ready for school! Now she needs a book or two and a school bag!
I keep thinking that the jumper is corduroy, for some reason! I couldn’t imagine why you would be lining it with the same corduroy! I guess it is more heavyweight than just plain cotton?
Ilike the “scrunched up” sleeves, just the way a real little girl would do! Yes,I think a newsboy type of cap would work just perfectly with this set! You sure do have a winner here!
She looks ready for school, Jeanne. I know she will get jealous looks from the other girls! I would still like to see a dressier top with the jumper as well, maybe pink and pink ribbon in her hair?
My son Ronny worked and worked yesterday washing the picket fence and the porches. This morning Peyton is making waffles at his request. Then he will help me plant my plant. After lunch we will take him to spend time with his friend on St. Simon’s Island. I will miss him so much.
Our lives will seem so quiet when he leaves, the last of family visits from the wedding.
I will send some photos to Jeanne later today.
I am looking forward to photos!!
Happy Thursday already! Wow, time is zooming by.
Jeanne, this is a cutie cute outfit. Lavender looks so adorable, I love the way you pose her too 🙂
A little hat would be super cute, and a school bag perhaps?
I hope all of you enjoy a nice breezy sunshine day….
Here I have my “craft club” which is simple but quite enthusiastic.
I bring my quilts to bind.
Then this afternoon we have the home warranty representative coming at 2.
I have a very very long list of complaints but I am not hopeful that we will have resolutions or repairs done.
Oh, lucky Lavender to be able to model this sweet outfit. It looks great although, I prefer the sleeves down. 🙂 I’m not a fan of newsboy hats. Does anyone wear them now? But, a headband would be nice and a white backpack too. I’ve been trying to find one in a doll size, and I have yet to find one. I’ll bet that you could sell them on Etsy. I’d buy one.
Well, today I’m going to cut out more collar pieces for that dress I’ve been trying to make. I can’t get them right and no saving them with the mess I’ve made so going to start fresh. And another pattern came out for week three. Oh bother, so I’m two weeks behind. Ugh. The new pattern is a cute jacket. Humm
Can’t believe that we had some rain last night. Guess that goes with dry lightning somehow. Now the deck is wet and dirt probably really stuck. Can’t imagine the clogged gutters either. Oh well, it will dry and then back to work.
Hope everyone has a lovely day.
I think a white ball cap would be a perfect accessory. And it would go with her white backpack. 🙂
I keep thinking of this fabric as corduroy. I guess it’s because it looks so much like a corduroy piece I have. The long-sleeve tee is perfect. I like newsboy caps but am okay with anything for her head/hair. A backpack would be cute.
Right now I am working on swimsuits for my two L’il Dreamers that are artistic swimmers. Not having fun with it. It took me all summer to find a pattern and I finally found something from Magalie’s patterns that will work. It’s a bodysuit for the L’il Dreamers that would work perfectly if only it wasn’t for being so small. But I think I’m getting the hang of making it work so before long I will send some pictures of the final swimming pool outing of the summer for Labor Day.
Oh, can’t wait to see the pool party and the tiny tiny swimsuit. 🙂
She looks so cute in her outfit. I like the length of it and the green color.
That’s just adorable. Those little socks are an inspiration. She looks exactly like a little school girl.
