Let there be socks for Lavender…

Hi everyone,
I was hoping to get to your comments today… and I feel really bad for the ladies who left comments 2 days ago and I answered a few that morning, but my day got too busy, and I ended up not getting everyone to everyone’s comments. I did read them though.

Then today I was hoping to add some comments, but my day was filled up again. Kristoffer came over with some gifts, since he was working on my birthday and we were out of town. He bought me a new tool I can use in my leather making, a gift card to Red Lobster, a book to put all your recipes in and some special little dessert cakes from Starbucks that I LOVE! They are the Coconut Lime bars. Oh… they are fabulous.

Then I showed him my latest shoes I had made for Mae and showed him my shoe lasts I had made from Sculpey clay. He told me he could make me a pair using his 3D printer. So, we found a digital file for Mae’s foot size on Etsy, downloaded it and he’s going to print one shoe out for me and let me try it before he makes the full set for both feet. I’m SO excited! He said my Sculpey shoe lasts were pretty good, but these should hopefully be better. We’ll see.

Then I made homemade pizza for dinner. It had been awhile since making the homemade dough, but it was so worth it. My hubby and our neighbor were out burning the pile of logs and brush from when we had the tree limbs cut off. It was a HUGE pile and the fire was big. I took Mike some pizza for letting us burn it on his burn pile.

Here was my dough after about half an hour of rising.

Then about an hour later it looked like this… and smelled so wonderful!

I made a large pizza and then this smaller one… ground beef, onions, and mushrooms. It was heavenly! My house smelled like a Pizzaria!

Someone gave my hubby one of those carports that are open on the sides. This is a really heavy duty and nice with a green roof…and today my hubby and Kristoffer got the arches set up on the base that sits on the ground. However, there were tree roots in the way, so my hubby had to raise it up a few inches to miss those roots.

Okay, so finally we can talk about Lavender for a bit… Here are her new socks. I hope this is the kind of socks you guys meant…

Then I pinned up her jumper to the length I hope is what you guys meant too… it’s just pinned if it’s not right.

I was looking for something in a darker green to go with this fabric and I think I found it. It’s a nice ribbed knit and I only have the neckline finished… well… basted in place. You can see the color of the paisley print a little better tonight than last night.

I have long sleeves cut out but they are just pinned around Lavender’s arm right now… it will look much better when they are sewn in place.

Here is another picture showing the colors of the jumper. It’s a very nice print…

I have already decided to make 2 different tops for this jumper… something casual and something a little dressier!

I don’t know what that is just yet, but I’ll figure it out or you can tell me… *wink* *wink*

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, wouldn’t that be wonderful, if Kristoffer could do a 3-D printing of Mae’s feet? And then, the AG feet, and the RRFF feet…😉 I never would have thought of that, but then, I’m not particularly techie.

Your pizza looks just wonderful, and I’m sure it was delicious. I will pass on the mushrooms, however. When Ron and I were first dating, if we went to order a pizza we always had to get it “half and half” because I don’t eat mushrooms. Later we figured out a topping mix we could both enjoy (which always included black olives!).

Lavender’s ankle socks are absolutely perfect!! And with her jumper shortened the right amount, it is such a cute look.

Hm, not feeling the green, but that’s just me. I’m kind of hoping that for the dressier top you will go with the deep pink or even that very dark brown in the print.

Well, my set of four dolls got hair last night! Then today a bow tie for one guy and buttons for the other. Now the girls want embellishments, too!! 😂

Oh, Joy, I replied to your comment on yesterday’s blog.

I remember the days when pizza’s first became popular, Jeanne, those boxed Chef Boy-ar-Dee ones, and we had to have the dough rise in a bowl! You had to start early, and it took awhile for that to happen, but today, sometimes a pizza is a spur of the moment thing, so for us I buy a boxed pizza from a local Italian restaurant that they sell in our grocery store. Takes only 20 minutes!

What, no pepperoni or olives on your pizza? We get sausage pepperoni pizza’s and I add olives and green peppers. Mushrooms are great too!

Well, I was a bit leery about those white socks when they were first mentioned yesterday, but I actually like them! They look like something a schoolgirl would wear, and the length of the jumper is perfect! Maybe for the top it could be a deep pink that is on the fabric, with matching tights? That would look a bit more dressy. But I am fine with the green top! Or maybe a pretty cream colored blouse with sheer long puffed sleeves and matching tights for the dressy look?

Not everyone has a Lavender doll, so trying to match it to go with her coloring won’t help to imagine it with other dolls. I think she looks darling in these colors, and they will suit others too!

Good morning, Y’all! I will soon be making an Eggs Benedict breakfast for Peyton and my son Ronny. Today he and I will plant a plant I have in a pot.
A friend gave it to me months ago, very tiny, and now it is as tall as up to my waist. I have to look up the name of it but it will grow into a tree that as white flowers all summer that turn to pink. Also he will get the pressure washer out to clean the porches. His rewards will be good food from his mom!! I have already made the meringues, we have peaches and squirt cream, and I will make a dinner with pasta and fresh Georgia shrimp.
Have a great day, and stay cool!

Maybe if I leave right now I can be there for dinner. I doubt it but your dinner and dessert sound absolutely delicious. Definitely adequate payment to Ronny for a job well done.

  4. Boy, that pizza looks good! And you make your own dough!! We like to buy Costco’s Jack’s pizzas and add other ingredients to them. We like the pepperoni ones and add onion slices and hot pepper seeds. Sometimes banana peppers are added too. We like them hot!
What a nice addition to the garage. I’m sure it will be very useful.

Lavender is such a pretty girl. Her jumper is really pretty. The green is very pretty – a strong color. A cream colored blouse would be nice for the dressier one.
I didn’t know socks like the one Lavender has on were popular again! Not, am I out of touch!!

  5. just adorable! I do love the green, and as Charlotte suggests, another color
would be fun….. so many choices with this adorable jumper!
I love the socks and shoes.
The new carport will be superb for winter.
The pizza you made looks excellent. I used to make home made pizza, but I have disappointed myself over the years, the crust is never how I like it.
Since we are in our new place and every day there is a little bit of sorting either here or at the old house, I have gotten lazy and bought Red Baron Pizza. I always buy plain and add toppings. Hopefully one day I will get back to the challenge of pizza success.

Oh boy, pizza! That looks delicious and a very nice thank you for the neighbor’s loan of his burn pile as well. Although, around here, the fire planes from the airport would be flying out and dropping retardant around it to stop it’s progress. In fact, with the dry lightning we had yesterday, they were flying clear over to the San Joaquin valley to put out fires in the southern Sierras. I couldn’t even count all of the fires that started. Unfortunately, a very historic area/town was lost. Chinese Camp, from the 1800’s burned. Very sad.
I absolutely love Lavender’s look. The socks are perfect and the jumper length too. And the green knit looks like a great choice as well. Back to the socks which look exactly like what middle grand wore to the first day of 7th grade recently. 🙂
I too have been thinking about making some homemade pizza. Never done it before although, my mother had a good recipe. Not a clue where it went. I saw that some purchase a pizza and add toppings. I’ve been eyeing Trader Joe’s pizza dough. In fact, I think it is already in the shape of a pizza. My mother’s recipe was like Jeanne’s, using ground beef, so I think I can handle that. Then, we would probably add salami, black olives, onions, and I don’t know. Because our favorite pizza has been Papa Murphy’s gourmet veggie. So, we might do that with some zucchini, mushrooms, onions, olives, and white sauce. Now, I’m hungry.
It was too hot once again, to do any outdoor work other than getting in an early walk yesterday. But, I think today will be slightly cooler so it may be back to work on the deck. I noticed that Callie Cat was sleeping on a pile of whatever covered with a sheet this morning out there. So, the piles of stuff need to be put away and not become a permanent resting spot. Kitty has several other places to rest on the lower deck.
    Happy Wednesday everyone!

  7. I still like the green check for the blouse, maybe an elbow length? It looks much better with the shoes than the solid green to me. I’ve never been a fan of white bobby sox and they really jump out in the photo, so maybe a white blouse would be an answer too. Polka dots?

The kids now are wearing those same socks with white tennies and carrying white backpacks. It’s a girl thing. 🙂 But a blouse in either checked or white would be sweet too. 🙂

No need to apologize to me for not commenting on my comments. I start out in the morning reading the blog and comment sometimes on other’s comments but somehow get distracted and when I go back to see what I wrote in the “share your thoughts” I find I never commented and I really meant to.

Yesterday I missed commenting on the start of the adorable jumper but now I can comment on the additions too. I love the fabric and the shoes are perfect. I think the gingham top would be cute with a short sleeve and the long sleeve knit top would be a nice addition so I think you should do both tops. A nice dressy blouse would be a great addition too. I love the socks and they are perfect with the shoes. The length of the jumper is perfect.

That pizza looks delicious. My mother used to make homemade pizza but I never have. After David and I were married every other weekend for years we had his children. After we picked them up Friday night we would always go for pizza. We actually kept up the tradition until just recently when David got tired of the local choices so maybe homemade pizza might be an option. His mother used to make homemade pizza. Sean has kept up the family tradition of Friday night pizza and they go every week. But he lives in an area with tons of choices not just the normal Domino’s and Pizza Hut. We have another option here but it is very expensive compared to the others and there is something about their cheese that doesn’t work for me. Sean said he has a problem with it too and when they lived here they stopped buying from that place. Also we used to be able to do half and half and now they took that option away. David likes his pizza stuffed with all kinds of things while I like to keep it simple. Without the half and half option we no longer order from there because I can’t avoid the awful cheese.

Jeanne, I had time finally to really look at Lavender’s outfit. It really is so cute, the colors would turn anyone’s head! I love the green best that you have today, and if you are going to add another I would think pink would be great! The socks send such memories for me, I love them, and the shoes ice the cake. I hope Kristoffer will be able to get some great shoe lasts for you!
I used to made pizza dough and hand made pizzas when I was a newly wed in the 60’s. I would make several when my hub’s family was there and my arms would get so sore from working the dough. They were good though. I still have the book with the recipe, I think, will have to look it up.

  10. This is going to be adorable, Jeanne! (Like all of your other creations!) It’s so fun to see your works in progress and your thoughts as you go along. It keeps us in suspense, waiting eagerly for tomorrow’s posting. lol 💕
