Hi everyone,
I wanted to see what it was like to sew this suede sherpa fabric, so I bought this pattern… from Crabapples, and gave it a whirl…
Here’s a little closer shot…
There is a longer version with a hood and one that is shorter without. I don’t have it finished, but I made a great start on it today…
I wouldn’t say it’s hard to sew, but it’s a little bit fiddly to work with… you have to sew all the seams on the outside and make sure you catch the underside that you are overlapping on, with your stitches.
I think it’s going to be really cute when it’s finished… I wish there was more room in the armholes… I don’t think a doll could wear a sweater underneath… probably just a tee shirt.
Okay… moving on… I bet everyone just skipped right over that top part…
Suemae sent me four more Ruby Red Fashion Friends dolls that will be up for sale… Again, each doll will be $99.00, including shipping. If you want one, please send me your full name, your address and your email address… Make sure you don’t get in a hurry and type it wrong…it’s what I will send to Suemae. I will go by the time of your email to determine the winner… I’m hoping there’s not any close calls, but you never know. Suemae will then send you an invoice through Paypal asking for payment. She got all three of the dolls that sold today in the mail to their new homes. The Alice doll is still pending and waiting on Suemae to return back to Susette’s house.
If someone sends me their information, I will do my best to put PENDING next to the dolls name ASAP so you know she’s spoken for.
Okay, up first is MUSIC CITY MAIZIE: (her box says brunette) SOLD…
I pulled this picture off the internet… and this is what they are calling brunette… just to let you know..
This is what her outfit looks like…

Here is a picture I found on the internet…
I will see you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne

First of all, I see that Mae’s outfit already has a bid!! That is good news!
That’s going to be a really cute jacket, Jeanne. Yes, sherpa can be a little fiddly to sew, but worth the effort. I wonder what’s going to go with it? Some slacks and a t-shirt? Or skirt and top? It’s more casual, so maybe slacks or jeans.
I agree, so often dolly coats/coat patterns don’t allow enough room for real clothes underneath. Years ago I had a Bitty Baby and had ordered the snowsuit for her. She couldn’t have on anything but a diaper or you couldn’t get in on her and zip it up! Now, really, I don’t know of any parents that take all their baby’s clothes off before they put the snowsuit on! It’s always big enough to go over the other clothes!
Ooh, some more dollies!! Hm….trying to be strong here!! LOL
Congrats on selling the last batch!!
I didn’t get any sewing done today as I had PT and then dinner and trivia with my friends. After that I had to get AbbyRose ready for our lunch tomorrow with my friend Marika and her doll. I ended up having to clean Abby’s hair; the last time I had her with me, she didn’t want to stand (I have learned now to bring a doll stand along), and took a header into my salad! I thought I had cleaned up any dressing, but I found some slightly sticky/stiff areas in her hair, so spent some time tonight carefully cleaning those areas with a damp washcloth and some foaming cleaner. Since doll hair is usually just acrylic fibers, I didn’t worry too much about cleaning the hair, just didn’t want to get her head wet, since the wig is glued on. Anyway, it’s quite a bit better now, and she is much happier.
Oh, so sorry about Abby’s last mishap, but glad that you were able to save her and do a good cleaning. 🙂
Jeanne, I love that new jacket! You have done an excellent job with it so far, and what doll wouldn’t want….or need something like that now? I think a cute slacks set to go underneath would fit the bill perfectly! To tell you the truth, I hardly ever have my dolls wearing anything under full length coats, since it is a tight squeeze most of the time, and then the dresses underneath get smashed and wrinkled. Since this is a jacket, you would for sure have to have pants or skirt, or maybe gaucho pants underneath, and a tee I’d you choose to leave it open. That shouldn’t be too hard to do, especially for you! Something to look forward to in the coming days!
So nice that some of Susette’s dolls are getting new homes! She certainly does have some really nice ones. While she did love the dolls, I think it was more the clothes and accessories that brought her to buy most of them. Ruby Red dolls have exquisite clothing and little accessories that are hard to find separately. And the price is hard to beat! Music City Maisie is adorable, and look at that guitar!
I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine’s Day tomorrow , although we are supposed to have a rainy day.😢❤️
Good morning everyone Happy Friday!
Jeanne, this jacket is really cute. what a sweet pattern!
And the sherpa boots too! Well, that is perfect!
Today hubbs and I are going to do something really fun…. drive over to the old house with shovels and clear several areas mainly the front path, sidewalk and the basement well.
It should be a complete blast! … I am kidding, but oh well, with the both of us it will be easy-er I think.
Okay, I did comment on yesterdays blog rather late, that I would like to buy Chloe. Is she still available?
Yes, this is crazy, but really, I thought about Susette… and that doll is a treasure and a memory.
Anyway, let me know, and I will do what needs to be done.
The dolls presented here today are all really cute.
I hope all of you enjoy sunshine and nice temps. We are going to be 37º here and sunny. Hubbs and I were planning on going for a long walk this afternoon, but instead we are going to do some shoveling.
Love to all of you, Rosemary
Oh bummer. I just read yesterday’s post.
Oh well. I am sure she is going to the best home ever.
Rosemary, more dolls are coming! Don’t let that get you down. She has some really nice ones!
Okay. I will wait.
“what? me, a doll? for me? ❤️”
I did really love that Chloe girl. Such a bright sweet face.
I’m really liking the sherpa jacket. Boots too? How could you resist? If you are making the boots, a nice pleated skirt would show it off nicely. Even better, a skirt and slacks for different looks. Pink is so nice for spring.
Susette had a lot of RRFFs. She had a gypsy with a crystal ball and a doll maybe named Rose with a Victorian dress. She had Parahelia (probably misspelled), which she especially loved. I’m glad Jeanne is showing us dressed stock photos. They really are necessary.
Oh cute. Love the jacket. This will be perfect for a spring hike or any outdoor event. I think that I would pair it with jeans or some leggings for a sporty look. I really like the pattern with the hood too. I hope Jeanne is planning another version soon. And how about reducing the pattern to fit a Ruby Red? We need some jackets around here. 🙂 And when I think back, I can remember having a suede cloth rustic jacket like that way back in the late 60’s or 70’s. Loved that jacket.
As to Susette’s dolls posted today, their twins are already living here. or I would be springing to notify Jeanne to save one for me. These are some lovely dolls, and I hope they all go to good homes. Reminds me a bit of the orphan trains of years ago with hopeful children arriving in strange towns to meet new parents. But in a good way. Wouldn’t it be fun to see some pics of the new arrivals settling in to their homes?
Heading to check the weather. Not sure that what I’d like to do tomorrow is going to happen. It would mean a very early start of which we may not be capable. We’ll see.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone. 🙂
Yes Joy, I had a jacket like that too. In fact I wore it so much, I had to put new lining in it because it got so worn.
and now??? I can not find the jacket. I do not remember what I did with it? Left it somewhere?
That is so funny as I have no idea what happened to my jacket either! 🙂
Maybe they are together having fun somewhere looking snazzy, of course!🧥🤎🤎🧥
That must be it! 🙂
Dear Jeanne, the jacket is coming along nicely. To the non-sewer, it looks like a complicated project but you make it seem so easy. Even sewing a pin cushion back in 7th grade was complicated to me (smile).
Wishing you and the Sofa Sisters a wonderful long weekend and a very sweet Valentine’s Day!
Jeanne, I love the jacket, almost makes me rush out and buy the pattern and fabric. It is Saturday here and Sam and I are off to a quilt class today. I am determined that this isn’t going to end up as another UFO (unfinished object).
Have a lovely day everyone
Jeanne, my email is messed up worse than ever. I will get back to you on the fabrics when they can fix it. I don’t know when that will happen. Sorry, have a good weekend.
Not a problem, Sissy…
