Hi everyone,
I only have a few pictures today. This is how I embellished Felicity’s dress. I tried to mimic the flowers but it was too hard to make French knots in perfect circles like the flower pattern on her dress, so I just made clusters of the red flowers with a bit of gold like the dots in the fabric.
I snapped these few pictures before we left this evening.
My hubby hasn’t been feeling well, nauseous and very tired since his last surgery 2 1/2 weeks ago and finally he went to the dr yesterday. Today the results were in and the doctor he saw yesterday called us and urgently requested us to come to the ER for a Cat Scan and more bloodwork. The bloodwork showed his left kidney was in trouble so they admitted him to the hospital and they are going to try and fit him in for a procedure in the morning. We are asking for prayers for the procedure to go well tomorrow and hope the doctors can fit him in.
It’s 1:20 a.m Friday morning and I just got home…so I’m way past my bedtime.
That will have to be it for today…
I hope you can find something to chat about.
See you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, Jeanne, I’m so sorry to hear that George is having to go thru more medical stuff again. Fortunately, a person can function quite well with only one kidney, should it come to that. I will be praying for you both.
The little flowers on the neck ruffle really add a nice touch to the bodices of Felicity’s gown. Can’t wait to see the rest, as it unfolds!
Sissy, thanks for the recipes. Tomorrow night I’ll try to get them copied down.
I have a wonderful peach pie recipe, too; in fact, I may have shared it (with pictures) on the blog a few years ago. If not, I can always send it to Jeanne and she can post it, if she wants. I think I have a picture or two in my files here, too, that I could send.
I have my echocardiogram tomorrow (Fri.) afternoon; nothing wrong, just my regular screening. I have them either every year, or every other year, I can’t recall which, as I do have a small bit of damage in one little part of my heart, plus I tend towards moderately high BP, so he is being cautious.
Okay, I checked, and I did indeed send Jeanne the recipe and a picture of my peach pie recipe. It’s in this blog entry:
https://idreamofjeannemarie.com/peaches-and-cream-doll-dresses-to-delicious-desserts/ Enjoy!
Oh Jeanne, so many ups and downs with health problems for you and George! I am hoping and praying that all goes well, and he will soon be healthy and happy. With you at his side, he has it made! Prayers!🙏🏻🙏🏻
That embellishment of the ruffle is amazing, I really couldn’t think how you would be spacing the flowers, but you did an amazing job, and it looks so pretty!
Peach pie is going to be my next baking adventure, after getting some peaches! I love peach pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream! Heaven!
Back to trimming the bushes at the entrance again today. I had three trash bags full of that horrible bindweed and no more bags left. Should be easy today with my battery operated trimmer. It will be almost 90 degrees today and showers in the afternoon, so I better get going here.
excellent dedication Lind. I hope others come out to help.
I am certain the entrance garden looks lovely today.
Boy, you folks can not get a break!!! In my thoughts and prayers. Glad you were able to get attention quickly! Sylvia PS The dress looks great! Glad to see you doing Felicity
Bonjour. je suis désolée,pour votre mari . je penserais ,très fort à vous . Ce sont des moments ,difficiles pour tous les deux. Je vous comprends très bien . PS :Merci, pour la tarte aux pêches,je vais essayer !
🥰 So nice to hear from you Georgina
Good morning dear ones.
Oh Jeanne… Both of you are in my prayers. I hope George had a restful night in the hospital. It is a good thing both of you acted on this. George is in good hands.
I truly hope today is a good day.
Felicity’s bodice looks beautiful! precious embroidery Jeanne, neat and tidy too.
Yes, thank you Sissy for the peach recipes, and Charlotte, I will make a copy of yours.
How nice, we can have our own test kitchens this summer! -and no need to gobble it all up and turn into balloons. Peach pie freezes really well. Well, just like my splurge with my carrot cake adventures, I am sure there are plenty of lovable neighbors to surprise too.
(we have to cycle through those baking ingredients as well)
Yesterday was the prettiest day here. I spent time outside admiring my garden,
I also received three huge mosquito bites. I hope they are not from sitting on my screened in porch!
This evening we are going to a neighborhood gathering… right across the street at our little community center. It is being hosted by our builder so I am very excited to meet more neighbors. I think I should bring a notebook and paper. The builder has hosted a gathering every three months at the model home, but this is supposed to be the very last one, so we need to take advantage of this massive “wing ding”
Jeanne, I am wishing both of you a day of calmness. You will be at the top of my thoughts all day, and continually in my prayers. Jeanne, please pace yourself, and do not stress about the blog, as other have said in the past, we can take good care of you and each other. With that said, please let us know any way we can help!
Not what I expected today at all. I’m so sorry to hear about George’s kidney problem and sorry that it had to go on for so long before being discovered. I presume that George is in a local hospital and not in the one where he had the surgery as that would have been a very long drive home at night time alone. Regardless, I’m sure that he will be getting the care he needs and that those in charge can conquer his infection. Please keep us informed, if you can, on his progress. We’re all rooting for him.
Felicity’s new outfit is swimming along. I like the embroidery and think that maybe it needs a touch of the dress blue to tie it all together. Maybe just a few French knots or something. Can’t wait to see if Felicity gets a bonnet or cap.
It was quite a day yesterday with Sissy’s peach pie recipe to enjoy, finding out that Debbie had Revolutionary relatives in PA, and so much more. Maybe go back and read the posts from everyone, if you get a chance, and check any missed late posts. There were a lot of late entries.
I finally was able to get some seeds planted for the cukes and zukes. As I was sitting on the edge of a low wall trying to decide which varieties I wanted to plant, I glanced up, and there was a crow pecking around in the middle of the raised bed in which I had just made some mounds for planting. I was very unkind to him/her and flapped my arms and screamed. He/she left quickly. I felt so bad as I always feed the crows, but up on the deck railing. I think that the bird thought that it was helping in some way. Anyway, I finished planting and put on the netting. I hope that the pests, including Callie Cat can find another place to play.
Next on the agenda is getting the zinnias planted. That is if I can find the heavy duty garage scissors to do some cutting of netting. Always something.
Take care Jeanne and George.
Joy, the collar already has blue stitching. Did you miss that?
Ha ha! I thought that it was green! My bad vision you know. Well then it needs some green. 🙂
Oh dear, I’m LINDA, not Lixnda! 🤣
You are wearing me out with your garden project, so much enthusiasm. We aren’t allowed a vegetable garden but the zinnias here have really taken off. Many crows here but I don’t feed them just their blue jay cousins. They are very demanding for their daily peanuts.
I have visited that cemetery in Lititz. What a charming little town and great soft pretzels right across the street. There is something very noteworthy about the Moravian school in Lititz. Also not sure but it could be Lehigh Valley.
Yes, Lehigh Valley too. Is there some place called valley of the kings? How great that you have been to the Moravian Cemetery. I have pics of the gravesites, but haven’t been in person. Never been to PA at all. Hopefully, some day.
Jeanne I am so sorry to hear about George. You both are always in my thoughts and definitely my prayers. Praying that they can fit George in for the procedure and all goes very well.
I love what you did with the neckline of the dress. Just perfect.
So very sorry to hear George needs yet another surgery, Jeanne. Prayers for a successful one. Yes, a person can live quite well with one kidney. A father and daughter at my church had polycystic kidney disease. Our pastor (at the time) donated a kidney to the father and another church member donated one to the daughter. Fortunately, the other daughter did not inherit the gene.
The embroidery on Felicity’s dress is lovely!
Beautiful neckline on Felicity’s dress.
Prayers for George’s healing and your stamina. I hope you are both home resting and recovering.
Jeanne, I will be praying for George. I am so sorry he hasn’t recovered from the last procedure.
I love the embroidery on the dress.
See you all Tuesday
Hi everyone…
Just a quick update.
We thought last night they were just going to be putting a 14″ stent in his left kidney to help with the urine flow.
This morning when I got to t he hospital, they said his numbers (for his kidney health) had increased again and we’re very serious, so they decided to put a tube in his back into his left kidney to his ureters and down to his stoma…but an hour later they had decided from his Cat Scan that he needed a tube going to his right kidney as well… they will be stitched in place and hopefully temporary. We don’t know right now…
Anyway, he is an add on (thankfully) surgery and hopefully will go into around 5:00 tonight.
That is what I know for now… I’ll keep you posted
Thanks so much for the update. Been thinking of you both all day.
Thanks Jeanne. I’ll be praying that all goes well.
Thank you, Jeanne. You are both in my prayers.
I’m wishing you and George the best on this. We’re lucky to live now, when the impossible is commonplace.
We seldom have much excitement here, but yesterday the local power company wanted to change some poles. A neighbor must have told them that I can’t hear, the best thing to do is to stand in front of the window and I’ll notice. The rep looked very pleased that it worked. He explained that they wanted to put a crane in front of my house for the day. I said, “No problem,” and shortly a truck crane about the size of a brontosaurus with a very long neck showed up. Passers-by looked at it admiringly but could not actually pass by, as it was slowly moving very large heavy objects with the help of a team of alert-looking human henchmen. I think a lot of us liked watching it work. Another example of what we can do now, and I’d rather have a person operating the monster than AI making the decisions.
I thought Felicity needed a red, white, and blue dress, and this one is, without looking too July 4th. That’s a wonderful interpretation. It looks like a very wearable dress. Felicity looks like she’s enjoying the attention — she’s going to hate giving up this dress. I’m looking forward to the skirt, and you do make wonderful hats.
Stay well.
How fun to have the crane aka brontosaurus for excitement. And I agree about the AI. 🙂
I was looking through recent comments. On the royal yacht — There is only one double bed on the ship. It was purchased for the honeymoon trip of Charles and Diana.
The clocks were stopped hen the ship was decommissioned — when Elizabeth left the ship, it became an attraction, not a seagoing vessel.
Square necklines were also common in the 1770s, but more common earlier. (See 1700-1705) The scarf-like thing worn with late colonial (and later) clothes are fichus. Here’s an article

Scroll down and you’ll see a peach and cream dress with a fichu. Keep scrolling for an article on ric-rac.
This is fun

The time line lets you see how fashions developed. It also provides inspiration for skirts, sleeves, necklines — and fichus.
By the way, the dress you are making has lovely sleeves.
Never heard of Piecework magazine before, very interesting! I have just spent an hour reading the articles Thanks for Sharing!
