A few helps for the Scavenger Hunt… and of course, more…

Hi everyone,
I miss Cindy and Tom already! We had such a nice visit, and I enjoyed every minute with them. Until the next time I see you, I love you!

Now… a few answers to those “hard to find” Scavenger Hunt items.

I looked over the comments and wrote down the few things that seemed hardest to find… and thought I’d help you out… If I don’t give you the answers, it’s like doing a puzzle and finding out the last piece is missing, or watching a movie and your TV has a hiccup and goes off at the very last minute and you never know how it ends.

There were apparently some things that were the hardest to find. (if you want to search for them again, when I show the picture, don’t read what’s below the picture first, just click on the picture to enlarge it and look to see if you find the item… if not, THEN you can read where it is below the picture!

The Gold Lion is in this picture…

See that shelf at the top… I think it’s just a wood board… well on the right side, there is a Gold lion laying down…he’s right under those big google eyes of that white critter AND at the LEFT end of that board, there are THREE gold lions…one on top of the red TV and one right by the bricks on the left and one more around those two.

Did you find them? Good!

Now, how about that Muppets poster… it was pretty hidden, but it’s in this picture with the silver Christmas tree…

It is right below the turquoise and white zig zaggy hanging scarf and there’s a black hanger pointing right at it.

Did you find it too?

How about the drum? It was in the first picture…

If you found the big white space ship in this picture, you were pretty close to the drum. Find the bicycle, then look just above the left handlebar grip and there is it, red with gold trim and some gold things clustered on top of it.

Okay, we’re getting there…

The next thing that seemed hard to find was the Star Fish, the Snack Shop Box and the Pink and Gray Quilt. They were all in this picture!

The star fish is in a cellophane bag… right in the middle of the picture.

The Pink and gray quilt (actually quilts) are up hanging by the ceiling.

The Snack Shop Box is down near the bottom in a red and white and blue box…with a touch of yellow!

There… now everyone has all the answers to the scavenger hunt. I know it was silly, but we thought it’d be fun for you!

This Thrift Shop just acquired the building beside where the original part was. They have been working for almost 2 years to get the new “vintage” part opened. It is quite crowded in there and there is a basement below too. It’s hard to see things in the pictures, but actually we saw things in the pictures that we missed in person.

Okay, now for some dolly news…

Joy got her Sew-Along doll dress finished and it’s really nice…

Here is a pic of that dress I’ve been working on from the Sew Along. Hard to see those pleats, but they are there and it is even along the bottom. The angle makes the front look longer but it isn’t. I couldn’t get any lower to take the photo. As it was, I was sitting in the gravel. 🙂
Joy

I think it’s adorable on Harlow, Joy! I think she likes it! :o)

Okay, now it’s my turn to share something.

Dorothy L said she’d like to see a hairband in the green and white print… so I made one! Thanks for the suggestion, Dorothy! Here are a few pictures I took. I’m hoping to get some outside pictures tomorrow and if so, get it listed on Ebay.

Lavender is going to read “Dancing Hands” first!

Well, that’s it for me. It’s bedtime.

I’ll see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Well, boy, when you said about the THREE lions to the left of that first picture, I couldn’t believe I missed them all! They practically hit you in the face! I did spot the one you mentioned yesterday as being to the right of the picture.

Joy, Harlow’s dress turned out really cute! Congrats on getting it done. (And, in response to your comment yesterday, going to Costco for a hotdog was one of Ron’s favorite treats. He liked them so much, he even teased me about going there for our wedding anniversary (which earned him a good glare!!). He particularly liked when they still had the choice of hotdog or sausage, as he preferred the sausage one. I preferred something that wasn’t served in a bun! Everything was just too big for me to eat in one sitting, so I learned to get one of their salads, which came with a lid so I could take part of it home.

That hairband is so cute on Lavender! Good call, Dorothy!

I’m feeling a bit better. Took it kind of easy the first part of the day, but then did some things (laundry, dishes, even some cooking) later in the day. Thanks everyone for your concern!

Nice to know that Ron liked those hotdogs too. Well sausage ones. I really miss their combo pizza slices.
Thanks on Harlow’s dress and glad you’re on the mend.

  2. Linda in St. Louis

Yes, that muppet poster was the hardest thing to find, especially if you didn’t enlarge the picture because it was like a blob of colors when seen small. But there is no mistake of it being a muppet poster, like I thought maybe it wasn’t and you thought it was! That starfish too, was kind of hard if you couldn’t see through the cellophane that covered it, but I did eventually find it the day you showed the hunt. It certainly was a fun activity, Jeanne!

I actually like the new headband better than the first one, but if she wore a white blouse underneath, then the one that matched the jumper would be better. So nice that she will have two headbands to work with!

Joy, your Sew-Along outfit is darling! I was thinking a pair of Mickey Mouse ears would make a cute Halloween outfit to go along with this! Those flowers in the background are beautiful! Is that your yard?

    1. Joy in northern CA

Tks on the outfit. Great idea on the mouse ears. I’ll have to look into that. And yes, that’s our yard with the zinnias. I think I sent Jeanne a pic a while back when they were really popping. 🙂

  3. Sissy Lingle on the GA coast

Well, Jeanne, I just couldn’t get my MAC to enlarge but 2 photos so I just
couldn’t see most of them. I did get to see the lion and the muppets when you told me where to look. Those were enlarged. It was a fun thing, anyway.
The head band was a great idea, now she has two, all the better!

Joy, your doll outfit is really special! I can see why you had a time with it, but you did a great job. Your flowers are lovely too!

Charlotte, so glad you are feeling better. I hope you have some rest every day, though.

Busy day today, first we dive down past Darien, the town 35 miles from us, to go to our high school class lunch that we have every third Thursday, then back home. Then, tonight we go back to Darien for the Historical meeting for a talk giving by 2 of our friends. Have to support friends, you know.
    Have a good day!

Tks Sissy on that dress and flowers. I was hoping to get started on a little coat with a new pattern from the Sew Along, but not happening yet. Too busy working on that deck.

  4. The starfish was, in the end, the only thing I could not find.
I have to admit, I put on my “super glasses” and turned up the lighting on my laptop AND clicked on every picture and even zoomed in.
That was a very fun search! I think: good for the brains too.
Joy, your dress finish is beautiful. My favorite color is red and wow it looks beautiful on Harlow. What a beautiful doll!!

Jeanne, I am very impressed with this outfit for Lavender, the little purse/book bag is the really special.
Happy Thursday all of you. I am off to my new “craft group” here in Birchwood.
I am bringing another quilt to start sewing down the binding.

Well, now I know why I couldn’t find those lions on the right. When my computer enlarged the picture, they were cut off. Just discovered that there is a handy little bar below to move back and forth on a large pic. Duh! Thanks Jeanne for sharing all of the hunt details. I never would have found everything. 🙂

Yesterday, I started in scrubbing the deck railings and stairs in preparation for painting. That is after I had to cover the plants below with plastic to prevent them burning from soap/TSP. Kind of a juggle to scrub, rince put up a ladder on the other side and scrub rinse on the other side of the railings. But, I got a little done before the heat set in. Put everything away and uncovered plants so they wouldn’t toast in the heat. Then, late in the day, back to work. Since I was scrubbing and getting wet with spray, I didn’t think about the heat. Well it was still 90, but at least in the shade. Did most of the staircase but gave up on the rest of the railings. That’s where I’ll start in today. So, I guess that I have about a quarter of it ready for paint. So much more to go. But, I need a higher ladder as I can’t get up high enough on the other one to reach the back of the railings. So, we’ll see how much I can accomplish this morning. I don’t think the rain will hit until later, but we’ll see.

Dear Joy, the dress is adorable. Your “model” seems to be very proud to be wearing it.

    2. Joy in northern CA

Thanks Jeanne for sharing my pic today. Lavender’s new headband is sweet. Hope you were able to get your pics and post to Ebay today. 🙂

  6. Barbara in SE Texas

Thanks so much for the hints on the things I could not find in the scavenger hunt. I knew how to zoom in on the pictures but somehow I didn’t go low enough to catch the snack box. The Muppet poster was one of the first things I found by accident when I was looking for the vampire blood. How I missed the lions I do not know, especially when there are several of them. I didn’t look high enough for the gray and pink quilt. I think I was looking for a bigger starfish so I totally missed that one. It was fun. Hopefully I’ll do better the next time you do one – and I’m sure you will do it again.

I really like the new bow for Lavender. Having choices is always a good thing.

Joy, I love Harlow’s dress. Great job! Really cute. So glad you shared.

I hope to get the end of summer swim photo shoot done and sent to Jeanne today. My DIL, Stephanie, has a doctor’s appointment this afternoon so she is here while Jason works since they live too far away for him to go back home to get her. She does not share my love of dolls or sewing but I don’t think that will stop me from getting it done. Other things might.

Things seem to be getting better between Sean and Dionne but it will be slow going. They went to couple’s therapy last week and what I suspected ended up being true. For some reason she is blaming Sean for everything bad that happened in her childhood – and there was a lot. Why it’s coming out now no one can say. She carries much anger toward her father and Sean is the father figure she is taking it out on. When the therapist asked them about their childhoods and she started talking about hers, years of pain exploded, and she cried a lot. The couple’s therapist suggested she see a trauma therapist. Hopefully she will agree to that. She needs to learn how to constructively deal with the problem and blaming people who truly love you and don’t want to cause you pain is not the way. I had a crappy childhood too but it was what it was. Dionne tried to make her negligent father into Disneyland Dad and he never came through leaving her angry and frustrated. Fortunately she is blessed with a husband who is determined to see this through in the hope that she will find peace.

Still hot here but with the first day of Fall coming soon there is always hope that things will change. Not holding my breath on that one though.

    1. Joy in northern CA

Tks on Harlow’s dress. I hope you can get in that summer swim photo shoot today. It is a lot of work, I’m sure. 🙂

    2. Barbara, I will keep Sean and Dionne in my prayers. It’s good that she got some of that out, though, and I do hope she’ll follow up the therapist’s advice about trauma therapy. She is fortunate to have Sean, who is willing to work with her thru this.

  7. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, I like the outfit. I agree with Dorothy L, the headband does look lovely especially because your model has pretty dark hair and the headband raises the color of the blouse to set off her hair.

I am so glad that you had sister time. You always have the best adventures.

  8. I’m late again ….
I’m glad you put the thrift store pictures back up because I missed getting to look for the items that you posted. I think that was a great idea that you gave us sofa sisters to do.
Jeannie I read your blog all the time and I enjoy reading the comments of the sofa sisters, but I have been really really busy lately with several projects so I haven’t written much. I just want you to know that I do read your blog.

I think lavender‘s outfit is adorable. I love the accessories you’ve added, especially her purse and now you added a little book. The whole outfit is really cute and it reminds me of a young girl going to school on her first day.
And I think Joy’s little doll and the dress she made for her is adorable. I like how Joy has her poised and it is so cute with her standing next to a chair with the little bowl of berries sitting on top.
Where did you find that little bowl of berries, Joy?

    1. Joy in northern CA

Thank you on the outfit for Harlow. To tell you the truth, I can’t remember where I found the pail and berries. Probably, a thrift store some years ago. Kind of a fun prop. 🙂

  9. Anne Coldron in Christchurch NZ

Lavender is lovely in her new outfit. I like everything about it. Joy, your little dress for Harlow is lovely too I don’t know how you find the time for everything, and the energy!! It makes me tired (and feel guilty) every time I read about your activities.
My x-ray showed no damage to my hip so the doctor says it is almost certainly a muscle problem. I have to have a steroid injection next week and he has given me a list of exercises I need to do. So good news and bad news! I am certainly glad I don’t have to face another op but I am not very good with exercises.
Cold and wet today after a few days of lovely warm temps. Still it is spring and the rain will help the firefighters damp down three fires on the outskirts of the city. No houses lost but one shed full of vintage and classic cars a guy had collected. One was the one he travelled in from the hospital as a newborn. He was pretty sad but glad no one was hurt or worse.

    1. Joy in northern CA

Tks on Harlow’s outfit, and we do a lot of stuff around here or the place would continue into ruin. 🙂 I am getting sick of scrubbing the deck rails though. Did more this morning before it got too hot. I’m determined to get that part done. Then, the painting will begin. 🙂
I’m positive that the exercises will help. Walking sure helps us.
