American Girl, Felicity’s pin curls and some other Christmasy STUFF…

First let me show you a few things…

My sister, Cindy, sent me another Amarylis and it’s been growing upward since day one… I think they are SO pretty!

Linda sent me a picture of hers blooming out too! It is in a beautiful setting!! Very pretty Linda!!!!

She also sent me some pictures of her girls in their Christmas dresses! You’re going to love them! Maybe tomorrow!

I wanted to show you Felicity’s pin curls… They aren’t perfect like they should be, but they are much better than they were…

Felicity is ALL done… socks and shoes on, pin curls fixed, hair combed, her dress on, I put new elastic in her shift, and washed off her face one last time.

I have several things and dolls I’d like to sell and still don’t know how I’m going to do it… My pictures are cropped and edited and ready to go on Ebay… thinking that is the most fair way to sell things. I know it’s 5 days until Christmas, and I’m wondering if now or in January is a better time to list things. My hubby says do it now… people may have Christmas money they want to spend… and if you wait till January, NOBODY buys anything in January… they are paying for Christmas…

Rebecca said to do it like an Estate Sale… Have a price on everything, take a shot of everything on a table, and then have a closeup shot of each item… Let everyone tell you what they want to buy. That would work if I had a store, where if someone bought something, it would disappear, but I’d have to monitor my blog like a security guard… not sure that would work.

Lots of people don’t do Ebay or Etsy, so I’m wondering about that way too. But I’m very familiar with it.

My hubby also suggested I show the items on my blog and then tell everyone at a certain time, perhaps a few hours later, they will be open to buy… I struggle with giving EVERYONE a fair chance at getting the things. I do like the idea of giving my blog readers first dibs at whatever I have to sell.

I’m going to sleep on it tonight and see how I feel in the morning.

Short post, but long day!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Linda, your amaryllis is just gorgeous! Thanks for sharing.

Jeanne, yours will be blooming before long, I’m sure!

Felicity is looking So much happier with her curls all fixed up properly!!

Our son stopped by to visit his dad while I was there. He had stopped by the house and taken care of our garbage and recyclable totes before he went to see Ron. Last night he’d stopped by to change a lightbulb for me.

And. today I got our granddaughter’s Christmas package in the mail! Yay me!! (The boys all get gift cards, but LIly still likes presents.)

Charlotte, you do have a wonderful son. So thoughtful. Sounds like you’re ready for Christmas now. Still working on that here.

I was waiting for Charlotte to comment first, but since I have lots to do today and a last run to the grocery store, I will start now.

I love that sweet setting you put your amaryllis in, Jeanne! It looks like yours will be blooming much later than mine, but you have somehting to look forward to! Mine is on a slab of wood, not a vase so I’m wondering how I am going to keep it for next year, if at all. Mine is from Trader Joe’s. It now has all four flowers blooming and hopefully will be in bloom all through the Christmas season.

Felicity looks just lovely! I think the pin curls turned out well, and they soften the lines between her wig and her face. I think anyone would love her and I had forgotten she already had her meet dress on when you found her, so she is ready to go! I have no idea how you should sell her, but feel that you will know best! Having things on your blog is fine with me, although the time zones don’t make it easy for people on the west coast. There is nothing you can really do about that. You might already have someone letting you know that they are interested before you even decide to list anything. As far as having money now or after Christmas, what is money?? 😉

Love your amaryllis display, especially with the huge amaryllis painting over the couch. Perfection. ) My TJ amaryllis from this year looks like it will eventually have two spikes. However, the one from last year is still living, green, and still encased in it’s wax. Who would have thought. Guess I should free it and give it some water. )

Joy, thank you! Would you believe, that picture over the couch is actually a lily? That was the name given to it when I bought it, because I love lilies! They sure do look similar, though, don’t they? My daughter also has an amaryllis, but hers has two stems on it. It varies, I guess. Today all four flowers are open and it looks so delicate and happy to be open!

My latest amaryllis has two spikes as well. Well, it sure looked like an amaryllis painting. It matches perfectly. )

  3. Felicity looks beautiful! Did you roll them back or forward? My 1997 girl needs hers recurled and I cannot even find them on my 1992 girl. Linda, your amaryllis is beautiful. My apartment is too cool for most flowering plants to be happy although I was able to keep a bouquet of roses for 8 days before they looked sad. Merry Christmas everyone.

Whoops! It looks like Charlotte and I were writing at the same time! Thank you, Charlotte for the compliment!

Jeanne’s amaryllis display is lovely. Makes the one here, plunked on a paper towel on the table, look pathetic. Green, but probably won’t be blooming until some time in the new year. )
Lots to do around here, but figure it will all come together before Monday. Well, hopefully.

Dear Jeanne, I love seeing Linda’s sofa and living room.

Felicity looks like she is happy with her hair style.

I am sure that you will figure out the best way to sell the dolls.

I saw your message yesterday about “Miracle in Bethlehem, PA”. I know about it but wasn’t sure when it was going to be on. It is done by Daniel Roebuck who is from Bethlehem. He saw that one had been done in Canada and thought that was just wrong so he returned to the real Bethlehem PA and did his own. I really want to see it. I’ve been doing a lot of research on Bethlehem lately. I always check out the real estate there and found a house I would love to have around the corner from the church I went to when I lived there. It was in a beautiful neighborhood of very large homes. I know about the large homes that Bethlehem Steel had built for their executives on the west side of town (lived a few blocks from those homes and passed them every day on my way to school in1st and 2nd grade, but was wondering who built the ones on the east side of town. I got a book that told me it was the Moravians. The home for sale was built in 1875 but has had a lot of TLC over the years and required upgrades. The kitchen is absolutely gorgeous. Sale price $1,175,000. I printed out the floorplans included and figure at least I can reproduce it with my home design program. I can live vicariously.

Dear Barbara, I am so glad that you saw my message. I already set my DVR to record the program tomorrow. I have not been to Bethlehem. I really want to go. I probably can’t this Christmas but maybe I can in the Spring.

I love that you are “house shopping.” It sounds like you found the perfect house.

      2. Joy in northern CA

Very interesting about the Moravian’s in Bethlehem. My grandfather and family going back were Moravian. I believe I have a great great grandmother buried in Bethlehem. Hope to get to PA, someday. )

  7. The Amaryllis in your house and Linda’s are both going to make you smile. They are such an impressive bloom. I put mine in the garden under a bush last summer and pulled it in Oct and put it in the basement. Now to see if I can find it🤭 to plant for January
I’m going to take doll pictures too. Have so many Christmas outfits for the girls that they HAD to get dressed up. My DIL showed me a way to take better pics but when I tried on my old phone it didn’t have that option so will charge up Mikes and see if it works on his🤪
Your selling ideas are all so different. Might be a bit too late for gifts but folks do get Christmas money so it might be ok to wait till after Christmas😳🤔 Good luck either way.

    1. Linda in St. Louis

I’m smiling Kathy, since this is my first time with an amaryllis!
And yes, please send dolly pictures to Jeanne! We all would love to see them!

  8. Your Amaryllis is going to be so pretty Jeanne. Linda, yours is as well with the appropriate picture behind it. I think they are very pretty, but are toxic to both cats and dogs so we only had one one year as it was a gift. It stayed and bloomed in the basement where the dogs didn’t go. I hope it’s far away from Rueben.
Felicity’s pincurls do look better. As far as when to sell, it’s a hard call. I usually have my fun money for the year spent by early December between and can only replenish it with any Christmas and then May birthday money I might receive. For the past ten years when I was actively building my PC/AG historical collections I had very specific things earmarked and budgeted for each year. This year it’s doubtful AG will even figure into it as all my retired wants are finished and I haven’t purchased directly in a couple of years.

Laura, thankfully, I don’t have to worry about a dog or cat getting to the amaryllis. We used to always have a cat, but after she passed away, we have not gotten another. I do doubt Reuben could get up on that table where Jeanne’s amaryllis is, but a cat could. Since we always had a cat, that is why we never had an amaryllis!

Beautiful Amarylis’ (might that be Amarylii LOL) Jeanne and Linda. Felicity’s pincurls look very good. As for selling the dolls, I haven’t a clue. I’ve never done any online selling and wouldn’t know where to start. But I’m VERY good at buying online for sure. Must get back to wrapping presents. Not sure how many I can get wrapped before I have to take a break. I’m hoping to have all that done by the end of the day tomorrow.

  11. Hello! I’ve just found your wonderful blog after being absent from the dolly scene for many a year. So happy to have brought out my girls again for play and sewing. I do have a question though about my Felicity (she has the ‘Made in Germany’ label. My Felicity has never had pincurls. I was given her as a gift many many years ago. I checked underneath the overlying hair and there is no evidence of there ever being pincurls. Have you ever heard of this happening at the factory level – they simply forgot to do the pincurls? I’ve often wondered.

    1. Welcome Kitty Ann,
I’m so happy to have you join us! As far as your Felicity’s pincurls go, I’ll have to ask some of the ladies on my blog who are much more versed in things of the American Girl Dolls. Maybe someone will know… I’ll post your question on Tuesday…
      Merry Christmas to you!
      Blessings, Jeanne
