Ten Ping has a little Show & Tell for you…

Wasn’t it fun looking at all those dolls Cindy found in that antique booth? Several people commented that the pictures couldn’t be enlarged very much… but Laura sent me how to do it. This is her email…

I went back to look at the doll photos and saw Linda’s comment and your reply about them not enlarging much. You could put this in your post tomorrow in case others don’t know the trick to get them full screen regardless of original size.

Steps:

Right click the photo and scroll down and click “open image in new tab”.

Then hold the Ctrl (control button) on her keyboard while hitting the + button until it is as large as you wish or full screen.

You can then use the side and bottom bars to scroll back and forth.

Now you can see all the details.
Laura

I took the plunge and just decided it was time to get doing what I “haven’t” been doing for almost a month…SEWING!
Starting with where I left off, Ten Ping has been wondering why her outfit wasn’t being finished. When I told her I was going to work on it, she jumped up and down and squealed in her teeny tiny voice!

I first made her little plaid tam… adding a black ribbon and 2 tiny gold buttons…

I also decided her jacket needed a pocket for her crest to be placed on… The crest seemed a little high to me, so I took the crest off and added it to the lowered pocket.

I hope to keep going with Ten Ping’s outfit… before it starts snowing! :o)

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Thanks, Laura, for your tips to enlarge those photos–I should have thought to do that myself, as I often do something like that when I want to save something to my computer–I just add the next step of right-clicking and choosing “save to computer”. Next time, hopefully, I will remember!!

Jeanne, it’s good to see you sewing again, and I’m sure it Feels really good to sew, too!! That’s a long time to be out of the sewing room.TenPing’s tam is darling, and I like what you did with the crest, too.

Just read thru yesterday’s comments. Barbara, that was Quite a surprise to wake up to!! A double surprise, really–no water to the house, but plenty of it in the street!! Yikes!! Hopefully it is good and fixed now.

Ingrid, good to hear from you again; you really have had a crazy summer. I’m glad your parents have finally decided it’s time. It’s a really difficult decision, and I speak from experience, here! My dad was most reluctant to put mom in an adult family home, but her dementia got so bad, he really couldn’t take care of her any more.

And now it’s our turn: Ron is in an adult family home. Not thrilled (he’s been there almost four weeks now) but I think he’s finally accepting it. And I did talk it over with him before I signed any papers. On the plus side, because he no longer has to worry about the stairs, he’s getting to church every Sunday (I pick him up), and we’ve gone out for meals several times, and I know he’s enjoying that.

Oh, Ten Ping looks just adorable, Jeanne! My Betsy has a back-to-school outfit almost like that on right now, but no cute tam. Now she needs a crisp, white blouse, and she’s ready to go! Maybe just a sleeveless shell to make it easier to get on with the sleeves of the jacket. So nice to see that you are back in your sewing room!

Well, thank you Laura, for the tips on how to enlarge the pictures! I am not a person who tries this and that on the computer, so I just never took the time to try anything new, for fear that I would hopelessly mess up everything! But I tried what you mentioned, and it worked! Again, thank you!

So nice to hear from Ingrid again, but you sure have had a crazy time lately, Ingrid! I hope things go well with your new addition of your house. And please no more lifting!!!

Charlotte, I’m happy to hear that things are going well with Ron. How are you adjusting now that you are alone? Do you have anyone help with the house and yard? I know Ron wasn’t able to do much with that, but now you do have the additonal task of visiting with him at the group home, which makes your time at home less. I hope you don’t try to do too much!

Linda, since it is still a bit warm here (understatement) my Betsy is wearing her plaid skirt without the jacket. She had on the white blouse that came with the set but I did not like it. If you don’t have that don’t fret. It’s actually too big and looks frumpy. But I love the skirt so I put the blouse on her that I made for previous back-to-school to go with a navy skirt and it looks great. We’re waiting a bit to add the jacket.

Barbara, Betsy got to wear the jacket, or sweater, whatever you call it, since the weather here is really nice now, chilly in the mornings and only in the 70’s, so it works out. Blouse too frumpy? Mine is just right and I love the little pointed collar that goes over the sweater. Maybe without the sweater/jacket it looks big. The hat I do not like! Looks like a clown hat! Jeanne’s is much better!
I did send Jeanne my back to school pictures, so if she shows them, you can see Betsy. There is another school outfit that may be the one you might have.

Good point about the blouse. It came inside the jacket/sweater and at first until I opened it I thought it was sewn together like a two-fer. I’m going to work with it a little bit and see if I can make it look better since you say yours is fine. She is not wearing the hat because it just kept falling off and she said she didn’t want to wear it anyway and who am I to argue. Your weather is like my back-to-school weather when I lived in PA. We started school the day after Labor Day and were already wearing cardigan sweaters in the morning. Looking forward to seeing your back-to-school pictures. I still have two girls in bathing suits awaiting the completion of their corduroy skirts and sweater tops so no pictures here yet.

I can’t believe I just lost my comment! I wrote it all out, clicked to” Post Comment”, then whoosh, it was gone! I’ll rewrite it later, as I have to get going right now. Maybe it will pop up later.

  4. My company left yesterday, so I just went back to read yesterday’s blog before this one. I thought my life was crazy this summer until I read Ingrid’s. Oh my goodness, Girl, you have had a time! God bless and keep you and your dealings with your mom.
Charlotte, I am glad to hear things are settling down for you and Ron. God bless you both as well.
And Jeanne is sewing. I am so happy for you! I adore the outfit you are working on.
My 2 sons are arriving next week to “help out”, so I will be cooking a lot. We hope to have a blue crab feast for them and my brother and his family. I am hoping that all the porch railings will be sparkling when they leave.
My older son is dying to get in to the attics, (I have TWO walk in attics) but I have to do that myself. It is just too hot there for now. I just can’t figure out how to get rid of a lot of fabric. I have tried a site on fb to no avail. I do donate some to the Docas folks but I have a LOT more than they can take.I don’t have many large pieces.

Sissy, I don’t know what Docas is but do you have a quilting group in your area? They have no problem with smaller pieces.

      1. Hi Barbara, the Dorcas Society is a group that helps the poor and needy. Our church has one and they collect good useable clothing, food, and also make quilts to donate.
Also your welcome about how to enlarge pictures. I’ll check out your way in a minute.

    2. Kathie from Omaha

Hi…There is a “Quilts of Valor”group who make quilts and donate them for Vetrans. An active group here in Omaha just awarded 20 to Vetrans last week👏 I think they are Nation wide..of course love anything red, white, or blue but check to see if maybe there is a local group.

If TPing gets a nice blouse to go with her skirt, she can wear it for Thanksgiving and other fall holidays. It really is a cute outfit. 🙂
Went back and read Ingrid’s post from yesterday. Great idea to add on to your place. But, please take it easy as all of that eventual moving etc. can take a toll on the old bod for sure. We’re heading up to our cabin to bring home a refrigerator. Should be interesting to see us pushing/pulling it up the hill on a dirt path to the truck. Lots more stuff to do there as well. At least it isn’t supposed to rain. 🙂

Ten Ping looks so back-to-school ready and adorable as usual. I like the pocket with the crest on it. I just love those adorable little shoes.

Charlotte, I’m so glad that Ron is doing so well and able to attend church again. I think your time spent together now is more quality time since you don’t have to worry as much. And it seems you are adjusting well and if you get lonely Ron is just a short distance away.

Ingrid, I missed your comment yesterday so went back to read it. What a time you’ve had. I hope things will start falling in line for you and your parents. I did not have to deal with this because my mother moved in with my youngest sister long before she needed to. My sister can be trying and they never did get along well but she has a husband who should be nominated for sainthood, so my mother was in good hands and she did not like being alone. My grandmother lived alone until she passed away and did fine. She was watching TV one night and her heart just stopped. They said it wasn’t a heart attack. She was 82. Mother was 83 when she had a stroke and passed away a week later. Up till they passed away both were doing fine.

Water problem seems to have been solved. But it is evidently happening in other places in town. Really need rain but none really in the forecast.

Laura, thanks for your suggestion on enlarging the pictures. Never thought to try that but I did it a little differently just messing around. I scrolled down to open image in new tab. Then I right clicked again and saw “edit image” so I clicked on that. It enlarged the picture to a good size. It had other ways of editing the picture but I didn’t need them for this but it will be useful for other pictures I receive.

Someone mentioned yesterday that they didn’t know if the one doll was a Betsy Wetsy or Tiny Tears. When I finally could see the detail today I can say it is a Tiny Tears. As far as I know they were the only doll that you could get with or without the hair. I had a Tiny Tears with dark hair and I chose her as opposed to a Betsy Wetsy because of the hair.

  8. So nice to see you sewing again, Jeanne. The little tam is super cute. A white blouse and she will be all set.

    1. So very nice to hear from Ingrid. What a crazy time she has had, but hopefully once her parents move things will be so much easier.

  9. Lauren From the Land of Lincoln

Jeanne I am so happy that you got to sew something finally! It must be a relief to be back in the sewing room at your house! Ten Ping looks so great! Her outfit looks excellent too! This must mean your hand is feeling better! Also, your husband is feeling better! God is blessing you and yours! So happy for you!
Thanks Laura for you tip on making the pictures bigger!☺️ Barbara that sounds like a terrible thing to wake up to! Especially, because I know I am always thirsty in the morning and am not a coffee ☕️ person! I hope you are able to fix it real soon!
