A little artwork triggered by a tiny doll…

A few weeks ago I had a Giveaway for a Lori brand doll. The doll in this dog walking set was actually named Siena.

One of my readers, Karen, was the winner…and it couldn’t have gone to a nicer group of girls… she has FIVE!

In the mail, a week or so after Karen received the doll set, I got the sweetest thank you notes from all her girls. I wanted to share the pictures they drew… they are so wonderful.

Thank you Karen and Marion and Rose and Lucia and Avila and Lilly! I LOVED your drawings! :o)

See everyone tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Isn’t this just the Best kind of mail to get, Jeanne?! All those lovely drawings, and notes, and love from the children, in one package. I so enjoyed looking at/reading each and every one. Karen, your husband has some real artistic talent there; thanks for sharing some of his work. I wish we lived closer; I’d love to meet you and your family some day.

And Jeanne, thanks for sharing all of this. It was just wonderful! (Spoken like a true grandma who cherishes things her grandchildren have drawn and written, also…)

Thank you very much, Charlotte! You’re very sweet. I have a sister out in California, but it has been a long time since I flew out there.

Oh Jeanne, this is so sweet! This is what I love too, pictures drawn from the heart, which are the best kind! As a former elementary art teacher, I was amazed at the detail of each picture! They would all get a big gold star from me! I too, have a stash of pictures and cards from both my children and grandchildren that I just can’t bear to part with.

Karen, you certainly have guided your children well, and they are going to grow up as wonderful women that are so caring and appreciative. Your husband is a artist too, I see! That is a wonderful rendition of St. Michael, who happens to be my Michael’s favorite saint!! The girls have two wonderful parents who are in inspiration to them! What a great start to my day to see the blog this monring!

My father’s name is Michael, too, and my brother Adam has that for a middle name. He is a policeman, so I like to think St. Michael is guarding him.

  3. How absolutely precious! What sweet little girls to have drawn pictures for Jeanne. Karen, you and your family are so thoughtful. The painting of St. Michael is wonderful – your husband is quite talented.

Jeanne, hope you girls are busy out and about.

Thanks for your kind comments, Paula. When I see your name, I often think of a Paulette who worked at the nursing home with me. She was in charge of the kitchen part and was very kind.

Dear Karen, Thank you for sending the wonderful pictures drawn by the girls. Their talent must run in the family based on Josephโ€™s contribution. He is a very talented artist. You are raising a wonderful family of very beautiful and thoughtful children. Itโ€™s great that Jeanneโ€™s kind gift inspired the beautiful picture of the girls together. Iโ€™m sure it will be treasured by each child for a lifetime Thanks, Jeanne, for sharing the pictures. ๐Ÿฅฐ

Karen, please tell your girls that they made my day! Their artwork and writing are delightful. Such talent at your house. Your husband included.
    Thanks for sharing, Jeanne.
Today, we have a red flag warning for wind and we still have smoke coming down from the north. The advice is to stay indoors. ๐Ÿ™ Itchy eyes here.

    1. Hi Joy, So sorry to hear about the smoke. We’ve had quite the summer of it as well from the Nova Scotia fires. The air quality has finally improved the last few days. Sounds like a good day for some doll time with your recent additions. ๐Ÿ™‚

Dear Karen, how wonderful to see the talent of your young people on display. It was lovely of them to write thank you notes to “Mrs. Jeanne” “the Doll Lady” (smile).

You are truly blessed to have such beautiful children and they to have you!

Karen I’m so glad you and your girls won the contest. Seeing all the thank you notes and wonderful pictures has been a real pleasure. Joseph’s picture of St. Michael is amazing. Obviously artistic talent runs in the family. You have such a lovely family. Thanks so much Karen and girls and Jeanne for sharing all this with us Sofa Sisters.

Kathie, I forgot to mention yesterday how wonderful it was to see the grandmothers included in the wedding in such a special way. I’ve never seen that done before and think it would make a great tradition.

Joy, I’m so sorry you are having to endure all that smoke. We have that here sometimes when they burn the fields in Mexico and the wind is blowing our way. I try to stay indoors as much as possible but even with a short time spent outside I still end up hoarse and with watering eyes. And we sometimes get the “dust” from the Sahara and that’s worse because it covers everything with this fine sandy dust. Not great for car finishes. Hope your smoke problem ends soon so you can enjoy being outside again.

Still hot here but in the low 90s rather than the low 100s. And the air is some cooler. Hopefully a full-blown respite will arrive soon. Fall is about to begin but that doesn’t usually mean a whole lot here so I’ll look forward to the hope that winter will at least provide us with some cooler weather.

  8. Hi Karen, I am just so happy that you won. What a delight to see all of your girls thoughtful pictures and sweet thank you notes. They are all quite artistic for their ages. Your husband’s painting of St. Michael is just wonderful. He is very talented. So nice to see your lovely girls again.

It was so wonderful that the doll set went to your girls Karen. They sound such lovely young ladies. The drawings are wonderful and Joseph’s painting is excellent too.
We have had exceptionally warm temp this week, in the 20’s (Celcius that is) whuich is warm for early spring. All turns to custard today though. Down south has already had massive rain, wind and now snow is forecast and should be our turn today, oh joy (sorry Joy I’m not taking your name in vain just an expression lol).
