A busy weekend leads to pictures from Cindy!!! :o)

My weekend was crazy busy… I went back to work at the Food Pantry, Friday, for the first time in 7 weeks! It exhausted me and I was sore and good for nothing when I got home that evening.
Saturday we went to Sam’s Club to get some foods for a farewell party for a family in our church. They have been there since the beginning of the church starting. My hubby and I shopped for foods to make a nice and relatively easy lunch, Sunday, after church. But the day was pretty long for me… I didn’t get home until almost 4:30… again I was pooped, so not much was going to happen with me. Certainly not any sewing for dolls.

BUT… it’s nice to have some “sister Cindy” pictures in the wings… These pictures are from HER booth… yes, she’s got her very own Antique booth at a place called Yesteryear Antique Center, in Hanover, PA. I don’t know how many years she’s been there… maybe she’ll tell us. She is always taking new things in, arranging them differently and then taking things home. She truly has a great eye for vintage and antique things. I LOVE to shop with her, especially watching her in “action!”

If you click on her pictures they will enlarge…

She also knows I love vintage sewing machines too… since I won my 1956 Featherweight machine on Ebay… Here are some she saw at a junk barn… I don’t know if that is the name of the place or not, but that’s what she called it…

I thought I’d show this purse she found too, at her Goodwill…

Now for those of you who aren’t into antiques or junky sewing machines, but would rather see something about dolls… how about this video of a lady who is selling her American Girl doll collection. Wait till you see it!!! It’s HUGE!
After the dolls are shown, she shows how she is purging her jewelry box…

Selling American Girl Doll collection

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Wow, Jeanne, you did have a busy weekend!!

Thanks, Cindy, for sharing pictures of your space. You have many lovely items. I think my favorite piece is that little lamp with the floral shade, seen in both the 2nd and 3rd pictures; I can just envision it in a young girl’s bedroom, with maybe bedspread (and canopy?!!) and curtains to match!!

Oh, my, and I thought *I* had a lot of dolls! I may have that many total, but only a few are American Girl dolls. I only got partway thru the video but will go back and watch more as I have time. It was fun to see some of the older pieces, too. She said she worked at American Girl–I can just imagine the temptation!! (I’m sure Ron is glad that I never worked there!! Haha)

I have been lying low this weekend; my sinus infection decided to flare, so I never got to my friend’s celebration of life Sat., and I stayed home from church and pretty much slept all day Sun. I’m feeling better tonight (still Sun. night here), though, and plan on my massage, a visit to Ron, and sewing guild tomorrow.

Dear Charlotte, good for you for staying home and resting. That is just wanted you needed to do. A massage sounds lovely. You will have a nice visit with your husband and I know you will enjoy your time at the sewing guild.

What a lovely collection of treasures, Cindy! How fun that must be to arrange and keep up with your decorating skills, not to mention taking home some treasures too!😊.

The sewing machines are interesting! Of course, seeing Singer sewing machines, is special to me, because I have my grandmother’s old treadle one, which I learned to sew on. Also the Kenmore looked familiar to me, as my mother got one, that I also sewed on. I remember her telling me that she ordered her sewing machine, which was during WWll, and you just got what they sent to you, you couldn’t pick any certain one. Hers came on a very nice self-standing cabinet, luckily enough.

What a beautiful purse! That must have been for something special, like a night at the opera or some such occasion!

Oh my gosh, does that woman in the video have a lot of dolls! How in the world does that happen? I think if I worked at American Girl, I would have had a plan on what and what not to buy,———and stick with that! How can anyone with that amount of anything enjoy or appreciate it?

Hope you are feeling better today, Charlotte! And Jeanne, I certainly hope you get to do what you want to do today!!

Dear Linda, to answer your question, there is a no definite answer. It is a question that most of us collectors ask ourselves. How did I end up with this many dolls (or stamps or coins or whatever)? There is probably a myriad of answers.

Sometimes we actually do have a plan and the next thing we know we have surpassed our self imposed number of objects. There is a difference between collecting for display (as in placing a few quality or keepsake items in a curio cabinet) and amassing a collection. Sometimes the line gets blurred.

I remember asking a lady in a Zoom doll chat how many dolls she had. She replied that she stopped counting after 5,000. I would not want to have that number of dolls but I guess it was comforting to her.

Maybe the other Sofa Sisters can join in the discussion.

  3. I love, love that little chair in a couple of the pictures. My Josefina would love it. Wish it was where I could purchase it. Loved the pictures!

    Happy Monday!
Thanks for the pictures Cindy. What an interesting booth. I would be spending lots of time there. Love the pretty plates and dishes.
Hope your sinuses will clear up soon Charlotte.
Will you get to do some sewing Jeanne? Who… oh who …will be the next lucky doll?
I signed up for a painting class today..that should be interesting☺️

  5. Fun to see your booth, Cindy. you have a lot of nice things. I like the corner chair. I always thought those were fascinating. I enjoyed seeing the sewing machines. My grandmother had a treadle which is what I first learned to sew a little on. The Kenmore is what she made things on including the doll clothes for my mom and me that are tucked away safely in the cedar chest. The Kenmore was neat in that the machine folded down into the table and with a doily and knick-knack on it looked just like a piece of furniture.

Wow, that is a lot of dolls. I just spun forward to see the first set and she collected all the lines from way back until right now as I spotted Kailey, Courtney, Kit, Evette, the pink Winter Princess, and baby Polly just to name a few as well as BTIs, furniture, and little accessories. and so much is just still in the boxes, I would find the number of dolls overwhelming even with nothing else. I’ll watch it later while working on dinner.

Definitely, would be perusing Cindy’s booth. So expertly arranged and inviting. The displays allow the eye to actually see individual items rather than have to try to see through the jumble in some spaces. Thanks Cindy and Jeanne for sharing.
Lots of interesting machines too. I’ll have to look at the dolls later. Busy today as it is back to yardwork.

Dear Jeanne, thanks for sharing Cindy’s photos. Her arrangements are lovely. She really has a wonderful eye for displaying objects.

I hope you will be able to slow down a bit and get some extra rest.
