Buttons for Ruby Red Fashion Friends doll, Violette!

It’s a known fact I “LOVE” buttons! I probably have more in my stash than anyone in town! I’m not bragging, but it IS nice not to have to run to town when you need a certain color or style. I didn’t have to go to town for any of these buttons…

I finished Violette’s skort and sewed 2 snaps to the underside flap and then added 3 tiny white buttons on each side as accents.

It kind of looks “nautical” just a little bit.

I decided to add 6 colorful buttons down one side of the crop top…

Hidden snaps close the crop top in the back.

I’m working on a few other things for this set and then I’ll be done…

Well, that’s what I had time to do…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, I do like the white buttons on the skort–that way she can wear them with any top, whatever the color.

I also like the different colored buttons you sewed onto her crop top–they really echo the colors of dots!!

(I have a LOT of buttons, too….but I don’t think it would be a good idea to count and see which of us “wins”!! 😂🤣😂)

I have memories of being at my grandmother’s house and her giving us girls her button boxes to keep us entertained, and entertained we were! She never threw anything away, so she had quite a collection by the time we came along, and I will always cherish those times at her house just looking through her buttons!

This set is getting cuter by the minute, Jeanne! I much prefer the top with the skort, even though the jeans are cute, but for summertime, there is no competition with the skort, looking so cool and airy! The lighter color of the skirt just seem to “click” with the top, and those buttons on it turned a plain everyday crop top to something special!

The white buttons on the skirt are the perfect touch too, and this is a winner to me!

Sweet outfit. Add a pair of thongs and she’ll be ready for a playdate with her best friend. 🙂

Dear Jeanne, I love this outfit. She looks adorable.

I missed the sale of these dolls. Victoria and Violette are on my dolly Wish List.

Can you believe that July 4th is next week?

The skort looks great with the white buttons and it will go with any top. Maybe a “sailor” style top would be cute for occasions where Violette doesn’t want to wear a crop top. I love sailor tops.

My mother had a huge button supply as did my grandmother. My sister and I loved pouring them all out and seeing if we could put them in sets. My buttons are all in packages either the original ones or small Ziplock bags, but my mother and grandmother’s were just all thrown in one usually metal tin. And the women in the past cut buttons off garments that were worn out. Waste not want not was what they always said.

In answer to Dorothy’s question, no I can’t believe July 4th is next week and we’re halfway through the year already. I think I need to put Bella’s patriotic outfit on her. All the rest that have them I put them on when I dressed them recently but wasn’t thinking when I dressed Bella. She has a pretty patriotic print skirt with a red blouse with white polka dots.

I really would love to see your girls dressed. Hope you’re sending pics to Jeanne. 🙂

  6. The six colored buttons are really cute and the white for the skort was a great idea to let it match with anything. My grandmother had a huge collection of buttons. I have a whole jar of the mother of pearl ones she had as well as many others. Such pretty buttons in the past. She always cut the buttons off something that was ready for the rag bag.
I can’t believe the 4th is next week either, Dorothy.

Lauren…glad you are better…the Sofa Sisters must have helped☺️
I too loved my Grandma’s Button Box, although it was at first a big round tin with a beautiful Victorian looking lady in black sitting in a rocking chair…a profile of her ….then at some point she put them in a tin from Omar Bakery’s Fruitcake…where they sill are. A lot are old but I have added to it too☺️ a fun box
Dorothy ..This year bring half over is downright scary….time is going too fast😲
Jeanne, the culottes are perfect and the buttons on that crop top are sweet!
But I do really love the jeans too!
My internet was down for over 2 days. Oh my , how dependent we are on it now! Just couldn’t do anything…even read my book club book because it was an E book! E bay isn’t happy because I missed my one day shipping agreement. I must call them… yikes!
Tomorrow going shopping for my Flower Grandma dress. Did I tell you about that? I can’t remember who I told and who I didn’t. Any way at my granddaughter Renee’s bridal shower she handed me and her other Grandma a note that said “ “would you be my Flower Grandma?” I looked at the other Grandma and we both started laughing. She didn’t invite any kids to the wedding and doesn’t have Flower girls so we will do it😲🌸🫶 We don’t want to match but don’t want to clash…and don’t want to be too silly because it is a wedding after all …so we’ll have to see what we come up with. Ever heard of Flower Grandma?

    Hi Jeanne,
What a fun summer set you’ve made for Violette. I think a pair of white shorts with a pair of your awesome flip flops would have been sweet! I’m sure whatever you add is going to be wonderful. I like the colorful buttons on the shirt. Real cute!

I can’t believe how pulled together you and your friends looked on such a hot sticky day. I’d have been a red faced, frizzy haired mess. Must be something you all get acclimated to… a heat index of 107 degrees! oh my word I’m perspiring just thinking about it. Glad you had a fun day out though.

    Hugs
    Ingrid
