Shopping and Sewing with Rebecca… and some Easter bunnies…

We got up this morning and decided to head to another couple of towns in the area to see what kind of shopping places we could find. One place was a thrift store that supported an animal clinic… it wasn’t great but she found some things to “hopefully” resell… they’ll have to be washed and gone over to see if there are any flaws. The other 2 places we went to weren’t great in my opinion… If I’m going thrifting, I’m not wanting to pay $22 for shoes… or $15 for dresses… but that’s just me… (and Rebecca)

When we got home we made dinner and started on some alterations for her. She resells things but occasionally she’ll buy something that has a button missing or a thread that need to be pulled to the back… she brought home a big duffle bag full of stuff… but she made me some new doll necklaces in exchange… we hope to do some more crafting tomorrow…

I didn’t want to show a bunch of sweaters and jeans and blouses… so I was happy Kathie sent me a few pictures… right in time for Easter…

Here are her dolls surrounded by her bunnies… the two dolls on the ends are Paola Reina, the 3 in the middle are Little Darlings, and I see Bella, a Ruby Red Fashion Friend, peeking behind a bunny’s ear…

Thank you Kathie… perfect timing!
See everyone tomorrow….
Blessings, Jeanne

You win some, and you lose some, Jeanne! Not every shop will have what you want or like, I guess. Yesterday’s place was darling, but at least you are getitng mother-daughter time in as much as you can.

Kathie, your house looks so ready for the “real” Easter Bunny! I too, have fun setting bunnies all around the house! It sure brightens the mood! Such cute pictures, and I love the one with the dolls having fun with the bunnies! I love that aqua dress with the apron in the center of the picture modeled by the blonde Little Darling doll. Who made that?

Thank you for sending the pictures and to Jeanne for showing them!

    1. Hi Linda,
You DO have good taste it is a Boneka dress my friend bought me at a UFDC Convention. I couldn’t go so she shopped for me😍
My displays are nothing like yours but it cheers up the house a bit.

Kathie, your displays are so cute! I especially love the lavender dress in the foreground. I know, everyone is So surprised I would like that one!! 🥴 I still need to get my Easter stuff out yet. It may not be until Sunday afternoon, at the rate I’m going!!

Jeanne, continue having a wonderful time with your family. You are so fortunate to have a daughter–something I always wanted but never had. Well, I ended up with some lovely “daughters of my heart” (including a former daughter-in-law) and a granddaughter, so I can’t really complain!

  3. You never know about thrift shops. The Salvation Army stores always seem to have a lot to offer and the prices used to be fair. They also have sales just about every day. Also, the shops that support hospitals seem to be run very well by volunteers. And the church thrift shops also seem to have a good selection. Maybe next time you’ll score. 🙂 I did look up Illinois thrift stores, and there are so many. 🙂
Love Kathie’s bunnies. I especially like the ones displayed with her dolls. Such a great showing. And everyone posed so well. Please let them know. 🙂
Hope we get to see Linda’s girls in their Easter finery. 🙂
A little rain here last night which was good. The potted plants needed water and the weeds were getting tough to pull. 🙂

    1. Thank you Joy,
That pic was a couple years ago but sent it anyway🤭 The girls did behave that day. Finally we are getting some Spring….in the 80 s next week. 30s to 80s…🫣

  4. Hi Barbara, first I wanted to reply to your comment about the Nancy Drew books. I guess the way I worded it it seemed they were mine from childhood, sorry about that. I do have some of my childhood books though. Actually, I never had Nancy Drew as a child but read them from the school library also. The library had the yellow matte ones. I actually won these (minus the 4 or 5 I bought individually later) through an eBay auction back in 2012. My daughter loved Nancy Drew as a child and read either the yellow matte or the flashlight version depending on the copy the library had.

The seller had found them at an estate sale. They were all nearly pristine and some were unread.
Here’s a fun “mystery” about them. When they arrived, I flipped through them to check the condition before posting feedback and then put them in my bookcase.
A few months later I decided to read “The Secret of the Old Clock” for nostalgia’s sake. As I turned a page about 2/3 the way in there was an old $100 bill wedged tightly into the spine.
I assume the $100 was a girl’s birthday or Christmas gift she stuck in the book and forgotten about. Of course, no way to return it as sellers don’t note which estate sale they buy from. I was thrilled as I then got the set for half of what I paid originally.

What darling girls you have, Kathie. The dress Charlotte sees as lavender I see as periwinkle blue (my favorite color) on my laptop. I think it is so pretty with the ruffled bonnet. Everyone looks lovely and is so sweet with their big bunny friends.

I’m sure we’ll see Linda’s girls in their Easter finery tomorrow. No dolls dressed for Easter here and my “Easter Treasures” decorations are still in the curio where they “live” year-round as do my German Christmas things in the antique bookcase so I can always see them whether out or not. 🙂
My kitties have been enjoying their Easter toys since the day after St. Paddy’s though. They never fail to have the appropriate seasonal things. 😸😸😸🌷

    1. Kathie, thanks for sending all your Easter goodies. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing your decorations.
The dolls nestled together with the bunnies are adorable- and a great scene.

Linda, looking forward to seeing your girls too,

Jeanne, it sounds like you must have been in several thrift shops. It is fun finding the right item for the right price for sure. Maybe you’ll find some treasures later at another shop- seems like you have many in the surrounding area.
It’s fun to hear about your excursions with Rebecca!

  5. Barbara in SE Texas

I’ve been hanging out with granddaughter Jaiden today so I’m just now checking out the blog. I finished up the elastic in her skirt and pressed it and her new blouse to go with it. I also found her a pretty pearl headband. Can’t wait to see how it looks on her Sunday.

I love Kathie’s pictures. All the bunnies are so cute and the pictures with the dolls are so sweet. I have two Paola Reina dolls and four Little Darlings. Love those dolls. I recognized the one dress as being a Boneka. They are always so lovely but was wondering the origin of all the other dresses.

Sounds like you are having the most mother-daughter fun. Looking forward to seeing more dolly jewelry. I still haven’t had time to really think through what I would like to see in necklaces, but I know I would like to see them for the smaller dolls – RRFF, LD and Siblies.

Still raining here but we are supposed to have a nice Easter weekend and I’ll settle for that. But it needs to warm up a little or I will have to rethnk my Easter outfit.
