Antique shopping in Springfield Missouri…

Hi everyone!
We must be the party poopers of all time… On New Years Eve, Deb had one can of Sprite and a little bit of sparkling cider, so she mixed them together, gave each of us a small glass, we drank it, listened to a few fireworks in her neighborhood, shared a few stories and laughs and called it a night! I turned off my light at 9:22! Like I said, “Real Party Poopers!” :o)

Hope you’ve had a good first day of January!!! We are still visiting with Deb and had a fun time at an antique shop called Vintage Peddler… I was so busy looking at things in there, I almost forgot to take some pictures…
but here are a few….

Anyone love Boston Cream Pie as much as I do? Deb made this and it was SO yummy!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

I’m glad you are having such a wonderful time with your sisters! That antique store looked interesting–I would have looked at the books in the second picture. I always have to look at books, you know! And the majorette doll in that same picture…too bad they had her way up high, so she was hard to see!

Boston Cream Pie? Yummy!! Count me in!!

We had a quiet New Year’s Eve, although of course we both were still awake at midnight! (Ron isn’t always awake that late, but I am!). Today I played piano for Sunday School and church, and it felt good to be “back”!! Tonight, I was able to change the bed without any help! I did have trouble with that one corner–it did take two tries with the fitted sheet. But the rest went pretty well. And last night I was able to wash the left side of my hair with my left hand! Yup, I can raise it up high enough for that, at least!

Charlotte, you are indestructible. I can’t believe how quickly you are getting back to things.

You think you are a party pooper, Jeanne? No, I am! I totally forgot it was New Year’s Eve, since I had been watching HGTV, not the usual New Year’s tv programs, and by 9:30, I went to bed, my usual time! I was too sleepy, I guess, to really be thinking straight! But if you were out shopping and looking all day, well, yes, 9:30 is plenty late!

I see somehting I would like in almost every picture! That first one, that telephone operators station, is really different, and since so many of my family worked for the telephone company here in St. Louis, it stood out first! That black light fixture hanging down right above it looks like light fixtures that are currenty in style!

The second picutre had me looking first at the crystal tree topper in the red box! That would look beautiful on my tree, if it wasn’t too heavy. That toboggan right there would be cute decorated with a plaid bow and placed on a front porch at Christmas!

Is that a doll or doll dress and red cape way on top in the third picture? So pretty!

The beautiful lacy scarves are what caught my eye in the last picture of the shop.

I love Boston Cream Pie, but isn’t that funny that it is called that? It clearly is a cake!
Thank you for taking us along on your “treasure trek”, it was fun!!

I hadn’t noticed that in the third picture until you mentioned it, Linda, but I THINK it’s a woman’s formal gown with a red bodice and peplum over a fluffy white skirt! It’s beautiful!

    Happy new year to all.
Jeanne, so glad you are having family fun, so richly deserved. Keep the good times rolling. And your house looks so Christmas beautiful.
Boston cream pie, my mom’s very favorite and definitely one of mine. Back in the 19th century, pies and cakes were often baked in the same pan and there you have the name.

I’d take that banana seat bike up top in the first photo. They were after my time, but the grands would have fun with it. I’d love a toboggan as in the second photo, but an 8 footer. Lots of fond memories of the one we had for years before it was stolen from our cabin. 🙁 Those vintage plastic candles, barely visible on the left of the next photo, are very popular right now. Curious about the price? I could use that old pickle jar on the small table at the back in the fourth photo (other person wonders why I save old jars?) and that vintage plant greenhouse is cute.
Thanks for sharing the fun pics today and glad you are getting in some sister time. 🙂

  5. I’m glad you are visiting with your sisters and having a lot of fun! You deserve a nice break like this. And soon, Rebecca and Karn will be visiting. More family time. Yay!

Boy, that is some antique store! Wry interesting things. I think it was the second picture that had what looked like a miniature British telephone booth on top of a cabinet. Wonder what it is exactly and the price. “ Just shopping in my head!” Lol.

And the Boston Cream pie- my favorite! My mother made those for many occasions. Always a family treat. Deb’s looks perfect and very delicious!
Thanks for sharing your pictures, Jeanne!

To those who went to bed early on New Year’s Eve, add me to the list!

  6. What a fun antique store. I always love browsing through the two here in town and any others we happen to pass. like Paula, I too spotted the British phone booth. We have a mini dollhouse sized one.
The Boston Cream Pie looks delicious.
