American Girl, Gilead, gets a little time on today’s post!

I am up to my ears being busy for a big birthday bash Saturday, for a friend and had no time for sewing or dolls or much of anything else besides party plans… but Laura sent me some pictures of her sweet Gilead and I thought she might like the Saturday slot here on my blog…

Here is Gilead and her sweet black kitty, Nightshade.

Gilead in her 1980’s time-frame has three new kitty tees and three pairs of shades (that’s what we called sunglasses back the those days)

She even has kitty face earrings! Which tee and sunglasses are everyone’s favorites? Thank you for letting me share, Jeanne.

Showing off her new tennis shoes! We liked those white and to stay white.

Thank you Laura. I can tell Gilead is a favorite of yours… love the sunglasses… oops, shades! Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for sharing!

I’ll see everyone Monday morning…
Blessings, Jeanne

Gilead looks so “cool”! I like the last t-shirt best (with the flowers on the kitty’s head), but I think my favorite shades were the ones with the black frames.

My girls are envious of her earrings; this mean mommy won’t let them pierce their ears until they’re old enough to afford it for themselves! Haha….

    Thanks for sharing, Laura!

    1. Thank you so much, Charlotte! I like the flower crown as well. The black shades are my favorites, but they came as a set of three.
Gilead is my only doll will pierced ears and I did them with a thumbtack so that she could wear human earrings. I don’t like the big holes AG piercing leaves and with human earrings the options are endless. She is my time-traveler doll and when earrings are not appropriate for a certain era the tiny holes don’t show.

Darling pictures, Laura! Nightshade is quite the inspiration, and you quite the giver of unusual names, with your dolls and pets! How DO you remember those names at all? I keep my dolls names as they are given by AG, but the pets, I sometimes have to name myself, and I forget who they are half the time!!

What darling shades you have there! Where did you find those? And the earrings, are adorable too! My dolls have pierced ears only if they come that way, so Ivy is really the only doll that I have that could wear earrings. While she has several pairs, she is pretty much stuck with wearing one pair most of the time, since you can’t really see them with her hair in the way, and they are so very tiny to work with. Thos kitty earrings look easier to manage.

Thank you for sending the pictures to Jeanne, so that we all can enjoy them!

    1. Thank you so much, Linda! I know you saw these on the doll boards, but hoped you wouldn’t mind again.
Thank you for the sweet compliment on unusual names. `I only have six PC/AG dolls and one RRFF and they came at least six months to years apart.
Would you believe they each have two middle names and a new last name also, except Milagros (fka Josefina) who has three middle names? I find renaming them a fun way to personalize the doll to me. Same is true for the pets. I do have their names written down, but i also know them from memory as well. They even have backstories and live in imaginary places. I did the same as a child with dolls, stuffed animals, and when i drew pictures of children or made paper dolls.
The =^-^= shades came from Walmart. Here’s the link if your dolls want to join Gilead in “kitty love”.

The earrings are human earrings purchased from Walmart a number of years ago, probably 2014 as that’s when I bought a Nellie doll which is Gilead’s base and re-wigged her with #33’s wig. I pierced her ears with a thumbtack so she could wear human earrings.

Marion and Rose like the dark sunglasses with the lighter nose because they look realistic and they’re cute. They are all fun pictures! Thank you for sharing!

    1. Thank you so much, Karen! I’m glad your daughters enjoyed the pictures. I agree about the black sunglasses. They are my favorites as well, but came in a pack of three colors. How is sweet Lilly doing? I’m sure your girls can’t get enough of their new baby sister.

Thanks for asking, Laura! She is doing well. She has been acting older now and has been keeping her eyes open longer. I enjoy just looking at her face. She is so sweet. She was sleeping and had her fingers holding one of my fingers and I didn’t want her to let go. Time passes too quickly…

Thanks for sharing Laura and Jeanne. Love the fun glasses and no way can I choose a favorite shirt because they are all adorable. 🙂 I especially like the white tennies. Gilead is so with it. Those are about all you see around here. 🙂
Poor post office employees are working so hard. Not enough of them to cover all the mail deliveries. Our mail was delivered after 9:00 PM last night. 🙁
Have a wonderful weekend everyone. 🙂

    1. Thank you so much, Joy! I love all the tees as well. I got a bit carried away with AG’s CYO (Create Your Own) tee maker. She ended up with these and a 1980’s one to boot. Haven’t bought anything else direct from AG in nearly two years though. White tennies are a staple here as well.

  5. Hello Jeanne,
Laura, I really enjoyed your pictures, I think my dolls here are asking for a pair of kitty earrings, they are adorable! And I really love the cool shades.
Thank you so much Laura, and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
    Angela

    1. Thank you so much, Angela! The kitty earrings are human ones I bought at Walmart many years ago. I also have a pair in silver. I hope you can find some similar ones somewhere.
The shades are from Walmart as well. I put the link in my reply to Linda. Gilead is happy to spread the kitty love around.

  6. Loved the pictures of Gilead! Quite the “cool” lady in her shades- a definition (the word cool) she probably would find old fashion n the 80’s.
What adorable kitty accessories. She’s obviously a kitty-cat lover. 😊
What a perfect name for her kitty too, Nightshade – a perfect name and who can also balance on Gilead’s shoulder!
Enjoyed seeing your pictures. Thank you for sharing!

Jeanne, Molly’s outfit is really perfect for the holidays coming up. That red plaids are always my favorite. Love the vest with it.

    1. Thank you so much, Paula! Gilead understands that your think she is totally rad in her awesome tees and shades. LOL She knows the term “cool’ from her 1970’s childhood. I age her up to a teen to match my teen years when she’s in this era, otherwise she’s younger.
Obviously, just like I do, all my dolls love kitties, dogs, and all animals, but Gilead is the only one who gets to pull off the “modern historical” of the 1980’s I’m still trying to come to terms with historical ’80s.
Nightshade loves her perch on Gilead’s shoulder. The Purrfect safe vantage point to view the world.

  7. Laura she is one of the prettiest AG dolls I have seen. She does have her own look. Thanks for the hint on piercing her ears…I may try it on some of my vinyl dolls. The sunglasses give her all kinds of personality as do the t shirts. Thanks for sending the pictures to Jeanne☺️

    1. Thank you so much, Kathie! Actually, Gilead is a customized doll I made back in 2104. She is a Nellie doll who I re-wigged with the wig off of a AGOT /TM #33 and slightly brushed out the curls.
Two hints on thumbtack ear piercing. Mark the spot you want with a pen or fine tip marker. Then heat the doll’s ear gently with a hairdryer until just warm. it will make pushing the thumbtack in very easy.

Laura, Gilead is ready for the weekend in her “shades”, jeans, and kitty t-shirt. A good look for trick or treating!

  9. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Laura, Gilead is certainly stylish in her outfit and shades. I bet she would be the perfect cat sitter.
