I LOVE my sisters

This is just a short post to publicly tell my sisters how VERY MUCH I love them! I know I generally write about sewing, and dolls, and the dresses I make them, but just today, I wanted to share how much I love Cindy and Deb!

Sewing can wait, but sister time can’t!

We had the best time visiting and shopping and planning new things and sharing our dreams for the future and then ended our day with a veggie pizza from the pizza place we used to go to in high school! The weather was a perfect 75 degrees and the sky was blue with a breeze blowing most of the day!!

I hope you have a brother or sister to share special times with. The older I get, the more special our time together is!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. What a lovely picture of you and your sisters, Jeanne!! You are so fortunate to have each other!!

My best friend is the middle of five girls, and I thought she was the luckiest kid in our school!! Just imagine, four sisters with whom to share clothes–you’d have an endless wardrobe!! Well, that’s what *I* thought, but it didn’t always work out that way. The three middle girls (two of whom have passed away) were closest in age/size; the oldest one is about 6 years older than June and I, and the youngest one about 6 or 7 years younger, I think.

Me? “All” I had was one younger brother, who could, quite frankly, be a real pest at times!! (And still can be…) But overall, he’s a pretty good guy, except for reminding me from tim to time that I am MUCH older than he is! (Yup…a whole 18 MONTHS!!)

What a great picture of the three of you, Jeanne! i see you are the tallest and the only one not wearing glasses! Of course, I know you wear contacts though! And you eye is looking really good too! No more bruises, that i can see! It’s so nice to have sisters that really enjoy each other and are able to connect!

I am the oldest girl of 4, and we are all different! Very different! My youngest sister is 8 years younger than I am, and her childhood was not the same as mine ,since we moved from a surburban area to a rural one when she was three and I was 11, but we are the closest right now, and she lives in St. Louis too. My sister who is 18 months younger, lives about 40 miles away, and we don’t see each other as much, but email all the time. However, we are very different in most everything! My third sister lives in Arizona, and of course, we don’t see her very much, but thanks to the internet, we keep in touch. I haven’t seen her in person for over 10 years! Since my parents died, we seem to have gone our separate ways and have been busy with our own families, as happens a lot of the time. My parents were the glue that held everyone together, but if we were to get together again, it would seem like we never were apart very long. We would just continue where we left off, I guess!

I am glad you are having a wonderful time with your sisters! We’ve had some lovely, cooler weather here recently. It was perfect for the parade on Saturday.

I have been very fortunate with an older sister, two older brothers, and four younger sisters (one was adopted from Guatemala). Some live in Minnesota, one is in California, one in Iowa, one on Illinois. One used to be in Maryland but has just moved back to Minnesota. She got married in June and so our family was reunited then. It was really nice to see everyone.

Dear Jeanne, what a lovely photo. I am so happy that you have this time with your sisters right now. It is just what you need after the last few weeks.

We are all smiling here on the sofa and there is a ton of cheering for you!

  5. I totally get your sister love! When I’m with my sisters, it’s such a family connection, hard to explain. The three of us are all different but we click well. I feel that way with my brothers too. However, I have a friend I’ve know since we were little girls and she and her sisters are much like my sisters as well. Also, there are women today who I consider as sisters. I feel very blessed.
It makes me think of the song, “Sisters” from the Christmas movie, White Christmas.

Glad you are having a great time, Jeanne, Deb and Linda!!

    Hello, Jeanne,
How lucky you are to have your sisters and that you all get along and can visit from time to time. I had one brother, three years older than I but he died three years ago. We had fun but didn’t see or communicate with each other much. I “adopted” a younger friend here in Salida as my “little sister” and love her to pieces.
And you get to share clothes! How great is that??
We love your posts that are not doll related because they are fascinating. We learn from your experiences and enjoy the good times like the wedding and family visits. Keep on smiling and living the good life.
    Love,
    Sally

Great picture of you and your sisters. So glad you are having such a great time.

I could just copy Linda in St. Louis post because what she wrote is about the same for me. I was the oldest of four girls. Actually they are my half sisters. We are nothing alike except for our love of creativity. Beth used to do amazing counted cross stitch, but I’m not sure she does much these days. Beverly (the youngest) is a true artiste. She draws beautifully, something which eludes me and I’ve replaced it with any creative outlet that doesn’t require me to draw.

I was two when my first sister was born, 6 when my second sister was born and 11 when my youngest sister was born. We were Barbara, Beth, Beatrice and Beverly. With Beverly being the only one done on purpose. I was named after a friend of my mothers, Beth is Elizabethanna after my mother’s Godmother but nicknamed Beth, Beatrice after a friend of my mother who was an Army nurse with her in WWII. Beth and I were pretty close over the years and she is the one who keeps in touch the most and remembers birthdays. My second sister passed away in 2008 a year after my mother. A sad story there. My youngest sister and her hubby, Bud, moved from DE to West Virginia and we’re hoping to get up to see their new place next month. Hopefully Beth and her hubby, Bill, can make it there, and we can have a mini reunion before she and Bill leave DE to winter in FL. They are also the world travelers. Bev and I are pretty much homebodies.

  8. What a absolutely beautiful picture! I hope you frame it😉 I have one sister and we are close. She lived here until 5 years ago and now visits for a couple weeks in summer and Christmas. We are on the phone often too. I’m very lucky to have sister in laws that are awesome on both my side and my hubby. The only one that was a stinker has passed.
It was my fun day today…a coffee with old friends from a painting class and then lunch with college friends. Didn’t get home till 3:00. Love seeing old buddies.
Hope the sisters stay a good long time and you have lots of hugs 🤗
