What American Girl treasures “were” inside that tub from Goodwill?

First of all, I wanted to show you I FINALLY got my shadowbox picture hung on the wall… It was ready to go up, but I couldn’t seem to find the time to get the screws in the wall to hang it. It’s quite heavy… anyway, here is a quick shot of it…

Also, Joy received her new Ruby Red Fashion Friends, Venus and her bed. It was quite the undertaking to get the bed to work. I saw on several doll forums that the bed was supposed to be put together with 7 little plastic pieces, but it kept failing on everyone. Lots of ladies were disappointed… well, not Joy! She went to the hardware store and picked up some rubber tubing and ran one long piece through the casing and look how hers turned out… Oh and take a look at her very pretty dolls sitting on it… Venus is in the lacy cream dress.

This is what Joy said…
Finally finished the cover I made for the cardboard platform for the day bed that came with Venus. I thought that the bed was too low and the cover was held up by a lot of individual plastic pieces. I didn’t like the look, so substituted the plastic things for plastic coated galvanized wire which holds up the shade cover much better. Venus likes it and invited over FAO Swartz Ballet Boy and Maisie for sandwiches and lemonade. 🙂

Joy also tried the sandals she bought for the Little Darlings and they “sort of” fit the Siblies… you might try YOURS on to see if they work. She said, one fit okay, but the other one had the Siblie’s toes sticking off the end of the shoe.
This is what Joy said about them..
I think they look great. But, if they were just slightly longer that would be great also. When looking at her, the sandal on the left fits fine. The one on the right looks short because the strap around the heel is too tight and pulls her foot forward a little too much. It is just slight, but when you make more and mention Siblies, the strap should be longer or the same as the other one. The other one fits fine and is not too tight. I haven’t pulled out Betsy to see how they look on her. But, her foot must be just slightly smaller?

If you saw my post yesterday, you were probably as curious as I was to see what was hiding in that tub from Goodwill. I showed you the American Girl carrying case/backpack and a few of the outfits in ziplock bags.

Well, let me tell you, it was packed with all kinds of things, but mostly outfits I knew/know nothing about… so I did a looking up on Ebay, and found out a few names for some of them… I’ll just show you some pictures and what I’ve found out.

I got all the things out and laid them on my cutting table… it wasn’t big enough… :o)

They are all very clean smelling, in ziplock bags and some are in mint condition if you ask me…

There is a pillow and a satiny bed cover…

This is a Coconut Pajama set, according to Ebay…

I couldn’t find this dress anywhere and I’m not familiar with the modern clothes as I mostly sew for the dolls, not collect their stuff. I found out the glittery shoes went with a Truly Me set…

Here is a set called Warm Winter… I think it was an accessory set…

I found out these purple satiny pajamas were for Rebecca… they are in very clean condition but they do have a few, very slight runs in the satin. I can show a close up of that later…

This is just a Truly Me dress and I’m not sure what the leotard goes with.

These are the sweetest pajamas from Dollie & Me. They are in mint condition and just adorable.

I think this set is called Sledding Adventure… The sled is a really fun piece…

Here are 2 red Christmas dresses. I forgot who they were made by…

These sweet black and pink leopard pajamas have no brand name in them, but they are very nice.

I think this is an American Girl Bath towel and flip flops.

I don’t know what set this goes with, but it’s a really nice knit zip from jumper… American Girl.

I saw this was what the glittery shoes went with… it’s a Truly Me set…(as far as I know)

This is an unbranded Wedding dress and veil.

Here’s a nice American Girl denim dress.

There is still lots more to show, but I have to get to bed tonight… Oh, I forgot, the carrying case/backpack is in wonderful shape and looks like it was never used!

I’ll keep you posted as I work on these outfits a little more…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Your shadowbox looks lovely hanging on the wall there, Jeanne. I remember when you showed us how you put it all together.

Joy, so nice to see your photos. I think sometimes manufacturers just make things that are quick for them to make, not necessarily very good quality. I’m sure any young girls who got that set would be disappointed that the bed didn’t work out quite as planned! Fortunately you know what to do, and it looks like the three are having a nice little party there!!

Thanks for showing the closeups of the sandals on the Siblie. I don’t have those dolls (and thus far I don’t think I will, but then, I only “needed” two Little Darlings and one RRFF, too!! LOL).

Wow, Jeanne, you really hit the jackpot in that container and all the goodies!! There are a couple things there that are especially nice, I think, particularly the sledding set!

I have been having trouble with Yahoo tonight; I got one email to send but not another, and was thinking it might be my wifi but everything else seems to be working, so I will have to try again tomorrow, I guess. I need to get to bed!

Jeanne, your shadow box looks wonderful up on the wall! I love that sweet little dress in it!

Joy, your dolls are just darling! They look so cool and summery there with their new bed and treats!

Well, that container full of clothes is turning out to be quite the treasure trove, Jeanne! I am familiar with the AG things, and that dress you have no idea about towards the top is called the Travel Dress. See all the little pictures of various landmarks on Europe in the design? It does not have shoes to go with it, as you found that the shoes go with the meet outfit.

Then that picture with what you call Warm Winter, with the vest, hat, boots, and gloves, I do have that set, which goes with a sweater and ski pants, but those boots do not go with it. They go instead with a sweater set, that I also have. It is hard, if not impossible, to remember all the names that go with each outfit!

I also have that denim dress, but it is supposed to have leggings to go with it. It seems like something is missing on that dress, but I can’t put my finger on it. I will have to check my doll closet and see what it is. Maybe whoever put the items together in bags didn’t really know, and that is easy to figure out! Even I get mixed up at times with what goes with what!

The Truly Me set was what they put on the Truly Me dolls as their meet outfit. You have that one right!

The clothes that are not AG, I have no idea about, except maybe that bride dress was also a First Communion. Dress. All in all, it is fun seeing what you have there!

    1. Linda,
Missing from the denim dress 👗 is a pink belt! Also, I am going to tell you about my dolls as soon as I can and I want to send Jeanne a picture too!

  3. Hi Jeanne!

I really enjoyed your pictures today. And most days, though I never post. I still read the blog everyday!

I thought I might give you a bit of information about one of the dresses you had questions about. As Linda mentioned above, the dress with the Eiffel Tower print is called “World Traveler Dress”. It was one of several purchase with purchase outfits. Here is a bit more info on it: https://americangirl.fandom.com/wiki/World_Traveler_Dress

Oh and the denim dress feels like it should have a bow on it. It might be “remake” that I’m thinking of, as AG likes to reuse patterns, but the one I’m thinking of I think had a bow.

I hope the above info helps! The website I linked to is fan made archive of anything that American Girl has made. If you’re looking for information, it’s a place to go!

    1. Linda in St. Louis

Yes, that is the Denim Bubble dress and it is missing a red belt with a bow! So if there is a red belt in the container somewhere, that’s the dress it goes with. And no, it has no leggings! I was thinking of another dress very similar, made in with the same pattern.

    2. What a bonanza of AG clothes! They should sell easily. Look at all the info the Sofa Sisters gave you! Awesome job ladies😉 Love it that you will have info on each outfit.
No time today…having Doll Club on the patio. Everyone is to bring a Bride or Groom doll for June. Hopefully will have pics.

So fun to see all of the AG treasures. It just shows what I’ve been missing out on. Haven’t kept up with AG enough. Hope we get to see the rest of the haul as well. Really enjoyed seeing all of the outfits and accessories. I wonder if Jeanne will be selling them in her Etsy store or here? Looking forward to seeing more comments from those AG experts here. 🙂
My RRFF Siblie Callie, is a bit miffed. She was the shoe model, and when she saw the pictures this morning said, “Why didn’t you send Jeanne a picture of me?” I told her she was a shoe model and that she had posed nicely, but that didn’t quite cut it. Oh those vocal dollies. 🙂

Dear Joy, your children look like they are having so much fun. Thank you for inviting us to your dolly porch party.

I loved seeing your beautiful dolls having a sweet get together. It all looks so yummy. You did a remarkable job on the bed. Very clever.

  5. Marilyn in Colorado

It looks like your Etsy store just added a page of AG clothes. That was some find.

I haven’t congratulated you on Lian’s dress sale. That was so spectacular that I was afraid George would leap out of his chair to dance with you.

Love Joy’s dolls in summer white. Either of the girls’ dresses might inspire a summer dress for Julie or Rebecca — or Claudie, who should appear in August. It looks like you could make AG-sized sandals to go with them.

Dear Jeanne, I like your shadow box. Is that a Boneka dress I see inside?

Oh my goodness, you hit the AG clothing lottery! Someone was very into to AG dolls. I am guessing it was an adult collector as things are still in good condition.

Can you believe in two days we will be saying good-bye to June? The Summer is speeding along.

I really love your shadowbox. It’s so perfect and meaningful.

What an amazing find. So many items in one box. Obviously the person who dropped them off at Goodwill was not interested in making money because I see a lot of moneymakers in that box. I’ve never been into the AG dolls. Mostly because my daughter did not play with dolls so she never wanted one. I tried! So I’m excited that my granddaughter is getting interested because she finally had some friends who had 18″ dolls. She bought her doll with her own money and it’s a “My Life As” doll. She couldn’t afford an AG doll. But I’m taking her to the American Girl store Friday so she can get some things for her doll. Sadly her friends have moved and she has no girlfriends close by now. She is ten so her days of being into the dolls may be limited so I’m hoping to keep her interested through my interest in dolls. When I saw her eyes light up when she was looking at the AG catalog the other day I knew I had to take her to the AG store. It makes my eyes light up it’s so fantastic.

Grandson Skyy is at church camp this week and seems to be having a great time. It’s his first year and he was a little nervous when they dropped him off Sunday but they have pictures online of the kids and he seems to be having a great time. They didn’t have that when my kids went. You can also email your camper during the week. It’s only one way or they’d have kids on screens all week but it’s fun to let him know we’re thinking of him, especially since it’s his first time. They actually use facial recognition for the pictures so you can see the specific pictures that show your camper as well as the others.

Finally got some really good rain yesterday afternoon. It brought the temps down for a few days but we still have a lot of summer left so it will be short lived I’m sure.

  8. Fun to see your dolls, Joy. It’s a shame the daybed was made so poorly that it required work to fix it. You did a marvelous job and now it looks great. I love those tiny butterfly sandwiches.
I made a comment to you yesterday about the brown-eyed RRFFs if you didn’t see it.

Interesting collection of clothes. Except for Rebecca’s Pj’s since they’re historical and the TM meet dresses I don’t recognize anything else. Modern clothing collectors will be happy.

    1. Joy in northern CA

Glad you let me know about your comment which I did miss. Thank you. I too have heard the talk about the eyes changing color. However, I haven’t noticed it yet on any of my dolls. I have had a Tonner doll’s eyes change from blue to pink though, but that was some years ago. I’m sure that RRFF will do something. They are aware of the problem. They are very responsive. Should that happen, I’ll probably just go with a brown marker and see if I can develop some coloring talent. 🙂 Others heat up the eye with a hair dryer and then pop the eyes out and replace. I haven’t tried that yet. Hope I don’t have to. Ugh
The daybed was actually very well made. It was the individual plastic pieces they designed to hold up the canopy that weren’t working for many. The seams of the bed were neatly sewn as were the pillows, mattress, and canopy. I just didn’t like the bed on the floor look so made a base and ruffled cover for it. It makes it easier to pose the dolls for me as well. By the way, all of the RRFF clothing I’ve received on dolls or outfits purchased separately are very well sewn. That jacket on Ballet Boy is an amazing work of art. Everything also fits the dolls perfectly. The workmanship does remind me a lot of that of AG. 🙂
