Sewing Room Activity…

My goodness…all the comments about the pictures of the flower gardens Linda shared were wonderful! Weren’t they beautiful? I checked earlier in the morning and there were 5 comments and I was going to comment, but I got busy in my sewing room and when I checked the next time there were TWENTY NINE! Yikes! I’m glad you liked the pictures and thank you Linda, for sharing them. (Also, I might as well ask about it now, but I saw in your comments you said you sent me a picture of your girls around a May pole… I looked and didn’t see it! Sorry, or I would have posted it!)

By the way, Lilac’s are one of my favorite flowers too, and last week my neighbor, who has 5 Lilac bushes, brought me over a bouquet of them, TWO different times! They smell SO nice!

I was busy in my sewing room Saturday. I had been wanting to get in there, but always had too much on my plate to do any deep cleaning and tossing! So I was glad when I finally got some time to start. I’m not finished, but I did get some things organized back the way they were supposed to be. Again, I forgot to take before pictures, but you can see what I did.

First I straightened up this built in shelf section…starting at the top and working my way down. I had so many buttons out that were just laying around… and I put EVERY SINGLE BUTTON in a compartment! I was very proud of myself! It “reminded” me of some buttons I had that I had forgotten about and now I know where everything is…

I had bought this compartment organizer at our Thrift Shop and finally got a chance to organize my beads and jewelry findings and charms. This drawer was a super disaster… with everything thrown in it… I used the little compartment containers (which are about the size of a Tic Tac holder) and got my beads and pearls all sorted. There is another container in the drawer on the right side that had round containers with screw on lids… I put my bigger pearls and heavier beads in them. It took me quite a while, but I felt so wonderful for finally getting it finished. I had a bunch of different bead containers and now they are “almost” in the same size… I love it! The little vials all packed into this carry pouch… so it’s pretty neat and safe from spills.

After that was done, I decided to see what I could do about Rozen’s shoes… remember one white leather flower had tiny pin pricks all punched in it, and the other one was plain… but I didn’t notice it when I was making the shoes? (It really isn’t noticeable at all!)

So, guess what I did? I took a pin and pricked holes in the plain flower… All I had to do was poke the flower lightly and the tiny little spots showed up. I was really thrilled at this! I certainly didn’t want to drive 20 minutes to the place where I got them and buy another little white flower (IF they even had them) for the .40 cents it cost me!

AND last but not least, I made Rozen a hair bow for her hair! Wait, not ONE hair bow, but TWO! That way the winner can place them however they like in their dolls hair. Here are some sweet pictures of Rozen with them in her hair!

They have a snap clip on the backside so they are easy to use.

So Rozen has her slip, her dress, her hair bows, her new leather purse and shoes… and she said it was time for her to do some modeling! I couldn’t agree more!

Well, it’s bedtime for me!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

You were busy this weekend, Jeanne!! Your shelves look so nice now, and your beads are beautifully organized. I’ve never seen a case like that one (with the “tictac” holders) before, but a great way to organize your beads and other small bits. I have quite a few beads, but not nearly what you have! (I might have more buttons, however…)

Yay, for “fixing” the flower on Rozen’s shoe!! That was easy, and cost nothing to do!! Her bows are the perfect finishing touch on her outfit. She looks ready to go to the Mother’s Day tea now!

Hi Charlotte, so nice to read about your getting to have lilacs twice in one year. they never seem to last long enough for my liking.

  2. Linda in St. Louis

Your organization skills are amazing, Jeanne! It does make it easier when you have the right containers AND a place to put them! My problem is that I have the containers, but where to put them? That container you have for all those beads is wonderful! It certainly makes it easier to find things! i love it when I get things all back in order and everything looks so good, that I don’t want to get in them again and mess them up!

Perfect save about the pin pricks on the flowers. They look like they have always been there on purpose! And the two bows are darling! You just never know if a doll needs one or two, especially if she has a side part.

I re-sent you the Maypole pictures, so see if you got them. Anyone else have a Maypole picture? One or several of you said you were having one, so it got me interested in one for my dolls! Inspirations come from all over!

Dear Linda, yeaaa, Maypole photos. I would love to see them.

    2. Barbara in SE Texas

My background arrived the other day and I will be setting up the Maypole this week.

      1. Linda in St. Louis

Good to hear, Barbara! I have no background, but set mine up where they always are, and they are a part of my decorating in that room. I would love to do it outside, but I have neighbors!

Since my kitchen table is my set-up area I need a background and this one is amazing – and reversible. I get what you’re saying about neighbors and dolly photo shoots. LOL

Tell them you’re taking a photography class and that it is your still life. 🙂

Dear Barbara, yeaaa, more Maypole photographs to come. I will pretend that your dolly children are here in PA dancing around the Maypole.

        1. Barbara in SE Texas

Just make sure you pretend I’m there with them. Already getting too hot here. I have the Bethlehem weather on my computer and it says it’s 63 degrees there. Works for me and great for dancing around the Maypole.

          1. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Barbara, yes, I will pretend that you are here of course. We can sit under a shade tree and sip lemonade and watch our doll children dance.

Dear Jeanne, do you make organizing house calls? My doll room could use a make over (chuckle).

    Rozen is a sweet model.

Most organized beads I’ve ever seen! Congrats. I’d probably never use them if I had to put them all back every time. But, that’s just me.
    Happy May everyone. 🙂

  5. Great organizing! Everything in its place and ready to go if you need it. As I’ve said before, I can’t manage chores or errands or any project if I’m not organized. Organizing is fun too.
Glad you accomplished a good start.
Rosen looks lovely with her pretty bows. Her dress looks so sweet on her. It’s a good color and print for her too.

    1. Your sewing room organizing is amazing! I’m lucky to get things in baskets of similar items. I have those same beige baskets that are on your top shelf too. They are the best. Have them in my kitchen too.
Rosen’s whole ensemble is a winner. She will not be happy about losing it but another Rozen owner will be ecstatic .
Just looked at the flower pics again. Thank you Linda! Glad Spring is in it’s glory somewhere. The only thing doing well here are the roses. They seem to like the 40 -50 degree temps and are bushing out and looking healthy. There may be rose pictures soon.🤔

      1. Had to add… the news came on and I-80 in western Nebraska is closed because it is snowing so hard! That is 300 miles west but still …..It really is the unending winter

    2. Barbara in SE Texas

I like organizing too. So much that when I get in my sewing room I have to discipline myself to do some sewing and stop the reorganizing – and reorganizing and reorganizing. Since my sewing room is small and stuff with things, I’m always coming up with a “better idea”.

I didn’t check in Saturday so I just went back to see Linda’s wonderful pictures. Really glorious! How lucky to live so close to something so beautiful. I have a neighbor down the street who has amazing flowers. Mostly she has them in containers (including a clawfoot bathtub) and it keeps the moles from eating the roots and killing them as they have mine – not to mention slug control. I told David we needed to do that. He asked me if I was willing to water them every day like my neighbor does. I told hm I’d love to if it meant just watering the flowers. When they are in the ground it seems the only thing I’m watering is weeds and the grass that gets in the flower beds (even if they are elevated). I’m not sure he believed me. I think I’ve finally convinced him that we need to have someone come in ang do the beds for us. Neither of us really have a clue how to garden in Texas. In PA in the spring my parents used to do the beds with peat moss and then cover them in cocoa bean shells and for the rest of the season they just enjoyed the fruits of their labors. Here no matter what we do it seems it’s 24/7 weeding.

Oops! I posted too soon. I had a concert yesterday afternoon so between church and that my day was pretty taken up and I’m still trying to get Greer Adele’s boater hat finished (changed from doing it in raffia to doing it in plastic canvas yarn – like it better and it was sure easier). Hopefully will get that finished today. I’m trying to get all my ducks in a row to send pictures of the five Easter dresses I made this year and also the Maypole pictures. And I plan to sneak in a picture of my new bathroom vanity.

Rozen’s dress is really lovely and with all the accessories it’s a marvelous ensemble. I’m sure this outfit is going to be in great demand. She is a beautiful model.

Your sewing room looks wonderful, Jeanne. I’m sure you are happier with things organized and not lying around anymore. You really have an amazing amount of beads, but they are all easy to find. I love to have things perfectly organized. “A place for everything and everything in it’s place”. I can still find the homeschooling items I chose to keep and know what’s in what box. Same with everything else. If I put it away i know where it is.

Rozen’s shoes look great and the little daisies are so cute. If one hair bow is good, two are definitely better.Looking forward to the Maypole pictures and other fun things from the Sofa Sisters. Hope everyone had a lovely May Day!

    1. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Laura, please come to PA and help me organize (laugh). If I put things away, in a safe place, I might as well throw them away because I will never find them again (chuckle). I reallyyyyyyy need a personal assistant.

      1. Barbara in SE Texas

I could use one of those personal assistants too. Do you ever watch the show “Rizzoli and Isles”? Rizzoli is a police officer and Maura Isles the Chief Medical Examiner for Massachusetts. In one episode Jane Rizzoli’s mother was looking for something to do with her time so she decides to become a professional organizer. She inflicts her new talents on Jane’s friend Maura. It is hilarious how she has all the kitchen drawers and shelves labeled. Problem is that since Maura didn’t organize it herself, she has no idea what is where.

        1. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Barbara, I do watch Rizzoli and Isles. I didn’t see that episode though. I will look for it. I just saw that Angie Harmon is going to be in some TV movie where she plays a “bad guy.” I am not sure I will like that as she is always the hero. I used to watch Cagney and Lacey also.

          1. Barbara in SE Texas

Yes. Angie Harmon is producing the show in which she stars. I’ve seen the ads for it but can’t figure out whether she’s good or bad. I’m not sure I’d like her as a bad guy either.
