I was a bad seamstress yesterday… I was playing instead of sewing!

HI everyone, I’m back… after being locked out of my blog last night. I wasn’t able to get in no matter what I tried. I thought I was going to have to ask Kristoffer to come over and bail out his mom again with some of his high tech genius! But this morning when I checked it again, it didn’t say, “Hmmm… we can’t reach that site” but said “Data Base Error.” I waited just a second on that page and it let me log in… so here we are…

I guess you’ll have to have “Afternoon Tea” with me today instead of your “Morning Coffee!” Okay, let’s get going…

I was looking at my latest pair of Mary Jane shoes for the Ruby Red Fashion Friends and wondered if I could make them in ONE piece instead of a heel section and a toe section? It’s a lot easier to stitch through one piece of leather than 2 stacked on top of each other where they are overlapped on the sides.

Well, you know how creative minds work… you have to stop and try and see what happens… Well, one pattern failed, another failed, and another… I have proof!

The pair I originally made were just a wee bit snug and I decided first, to make the sole a little bit longer…

Then a little bit wider…

Each time I did something I made marks on the shoes to correct it the next time… then I’d take that shoe apart and make a new pattern…

I wasn’t going to give up…

Long story short, at the end of my trial runs, I was actually no better off…

So what does any “creative” person do? They switch to something else…

So I decided to try some flip flops and see if I still remembered how I did them… I did…

I tried again…

BUT… somehow I made one of the shoes just a bit shorter than the other one… it didn’t even come past her heel in the back….

…so I had to make a third flip flop…

Hence this picture of the 3 shoes… the one in the middle was “just for practice I guess!”

Now I have a set that’s correct! :o)

Well, that’s it… how a seamstress can do more than just sew! (She can waste a whole afternoon playing instead of sewing!) :o)

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

    Hi Jeanne,
Well it’s12:45 and I’m the first one here. I think it’s because I couldn’t access your post through the post that came to my inbox. I’m guessing others couldn’t either, but didn’t know what to do instead.I had to type in idreamofjeannemarie.com into Google. Through my inbox it comes up blank.
The flip flops are so cute and perfect for the RRFFs because they have the big toe split and look normal wearing them.
I don’t have any flip flops for my PC/AGs,but I know they don’t wear them nearly as well.

Weird, I just went back to my email to try it again and it went right through to your blog. It must have corrected itself in those few minutes.
I guess we’ll see if other Sofa sisters try again.

      1. Hi Laura,
I don’t guess you saw the comment I asked Linda to add at the bottom of yesterday’s post? Somehow last night I could not get to my blog.
I could get on Ebay, Etsy, My email, the doll forums. Facebook, but not my blog. So I emailed Linda and asked for her help. She let everyone know I was having trouble.
Miraculously, when I got up this morning I was able to get on. I think I got my post written and published about 10:00…

I’m glad you like the flip flops…it was fun to do something crafty…
        Thanks Laura

No problem getting here except I had to press the button twice. Glad that you had Linda post on yesterday’s post, or I would have worried longer. 🙂
Not sure about your shoe pattern, as I know nothing, but the last shoes you made with the flowers and these look like the vamp or lower portion of the shoe is too wide/large for RRFF girls. Shouldn’t that just lay lightly on top of the foot and not stick up so high? I suppose worn with a sock, it might not show so much. Some of the store bought shoes here do the same when they are too wide. The thongs look like a perfect fit and are so cute. All of your girls are going to want a pair. 🙂
Very hot here already. Need to go water some special plants.

    1. Hi Joy,
I was so happy to be back on my blog… what a relief…
Yes, I still have work to do on the “one piece” Mary Janes. I’ll get back to them another time.
Glad you like the flip flops… it was fun to make them again… but I am tweaking the sole of them to make them a little more form fitting to the RRFF dolls feet.
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, good, you’re back! I haven’t tried to get to the blog this afternoon, but just happened to find it a few minutes ago! Did you find out what happened?

Those RRFF have the cutest feet! Nothing like mon, for sure!😊. I love those sandals, and that’s quite Ok that you got to “play” a bit!

Our grandson graduates tonight but in Denver and here we are in St. Louis! We will be able to watch via livestream, thanks to technology, if, and a big if, it works!

    Looking forward to tomorrow’s blog!

    1. Thank you for helping me out, Linda!! I hated not to have someone try to get the word out and you did!! I am just glad it is all ok now…
It was fun to play for a little while… I need that every once in a while.
      Enjoy the graduation from afar!!
      Thanks again Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

I’m glad the problem wasn’t serious and you are back. Both flip-flops are cute, but I especially like the white flowers. I love all those leather colors — it made your slideshow fun.

I’m glad they are livestreaming Linda’s grandson’s graduation. We don’t need super-spreader graduations.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
I am so happy the problem practically fixed itself… don’t know what happened but sure glad to be back.
I like making these little flip flops…I just need to get it so streamlined they go together quicker. I have lots of trims that could make many many pairs of flip flops.
I tried hard on the Mary Janes…but it didn’t work out on them “this” time. Maybe another time I’ll get back to tweaking again…
      Thanks Marilyn

  5. Technology is so weird. Didn’t get today’s blog but I could get to it from yesterdays. Then as I was reading it the pictures ended about halfway through so there were big blank pictures between your verbiage🤔 Sad because you got some new readers a few days ago too🥴
The last shoes and purse just could not have been cuter so I know you will figure out the shoes. You are right..it should be able to be one piece.
    Keep trying👏☺️

    1. HI Kathie,
I think all the bugs are worked out now… I’m on my blog and just finished writing the post for Thursday.. I’m not sure what was the problem… I’m just glad it’s working now.
I’ll get those shoes figured out later… they were driving me crazy…
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne
