Yes, I think a straw hat would be perfect…

I sometimes think you can read my mind about what I’m planning to add to an outfit to make it special…

Even before anyone mentioned the idea of a straw hat, I had decided it would be a nice piece to go with this dress. I looked in my stash and had these flowers and some ivory hat braid, so it was a “go” on the straw hat.

I don’t have a hat form for the Ruby Red Fashion Friends, so I took a pink straw hat that does fit her, but is the wrong color, and covered it with foil so I can add the ivory braid to it. I really should form a hat mold out of Sculpy so I don’t have to cover a hat with foil again. I made one for Stella one other time doing it this way… the little pieces of Wasi tape are holding the foil pieces together…

Anyway, whenever I get some time, I’m all set to make her hat…

Unfortunately, I had no time to work on it today, but you can see what I’ll be using when I get to it…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Yay, a hat!! I enlarged the picture of all the flowers, etc, and I think I like the individual roses (just above the straw braiding in the picture) the best with the print in the dress. I really like the flowers at lower left, but didn’t think those colors were quite right. But maybe a ring of those individual roses will do it, or perhaps a small cluster of them, but with an ivory ribbon around the crown first. I’m sure you’ll figure it out!

Oh, yes, Jeanne, a straw hat decorated with flowers will be the crowning touch for this dress! I love the roses and the tan flowers, but the small blue ones look somewhat a different shade of blue, at least on my monitor. This will be so pretty when it is all together, and will give Sara a reason to smile, for sure! (as if she isn’t already!)

It looks like the sun will be shining today, and the raindrops have moved on! Have fun with your sisters this weekend!

Dear Jeanne, well you are on the way!

What are the colored strips? Are they bits of cloth? They look like pretty bandaids.

You have certainly become the consummate doll clothing designer. You can outfit a doll from shoes to hat! It is definitely time for you to hang a shingle on your door.

    How about:
    Clothing Designs By Jeanne
    OR Dolly Dreams By Jeanne
OR Exquisite Couture For The Fashionable Doll

I can see the line of dolls outside of your shop peering in the windows waiting for the store to open. Just when you thought all of your remodeling projects were completed, now you have to build a dolly boutique (chuckle).

Dorothy, the colored strips on the foil are bits of washi paper, a decorative tape that can be used in scrapbooking and card-making. I think Jeanne used that in place of tape. It works about the same!

  4. I agree that a straw is perfect & can’t wait to see how you do the flowers. I was going to make a straw hat for my mini Molly but can’t figure out how to add flowers.

Oh what fun decorations from which to choose. I’m sure it will be fun playing around with them. I can’t see repeating the sash color again on the crown, but maybe the gold color of the fabric ribbon along the crown with a grouping of flowers in one place and not all the way around. The ribbon sash accent could be included with the flower grouping. The roses on the right look to be a good match as is the large flower on the left. I don’t think I’d like the ones on the front left as they would take away from the lovely dress print. In my humble opinion.
Well, should be fun with your sis arriving today is it, I think? Maybe she can convince George that he needs to paint the office/laundry walls. Ha ha. Then off to Missouri. Have a delightful weekend!
Today, the large boxed dollhouse is set to arrive. Wish me luck trying to sneak that in.

I can’t even sneak in a bicycle I can’t imagine having success doing that with a dollhouse. if you manage to do that, maybe you could start giving lessons on subterfuge.

  6. A hat will be the crowning touch to this lovely outfit. Have a lovely time with your sisters.

    Hi Jeanne,
I’m so very glad to hear you’ll be enjoying some sister time. It’s also great to hear George is healing up and getting back to his old self. Hope he doesn’t over due it while you’re away.
I’ve enjoyed watching this outfit come together… so many ideas and honestly they all seemed great to me. I sympathized with you on having to rework the sleeves I was actually doing the same thing for the dress I’m making for Hazel… she’s a Connie Lowe girl. She is finally getting a new dress. It’s about time I dusted off my sewing machine! I love your hats! I think all the flowers are just perfect. I’d love to see a mix of them all; big and small. So fun!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend
    Hugs

    Ingrid
