ONE more doll dress…

I decided why waste that bodice I had started for Navi when it could be turned into something useful and ANOTHER piece to the set I already have listed on Ebay… (you can see it HERE) or click on the side bar at the right…

I added a peplum to the bottom of the bodice and viola… look at it on Navi.

Now she can be “dressy” or “casual” if she needs to…

…and one last look at the dress, pantalettes, new top, shoes and hairbow.

I also “tamed” her hair just a bit with some water…can you tell? This was yesterday…

And now… for the last dress of the year, Emmie gets it. Someone mentioned they’d like to see a dress for the Little Darlings and that pushed me over the edge. (I think it may have been Melody?) Anyway, Emmie was pleased as punch and told me she wanted something blue…
I had this very pretty blue and silver snowflake fabric and that was all it took. Emmie didn’t want to look at anything else. My lighting wasn’t good when I took her pictures, but you can at least see where I’m heading with it…

I sewed some little silver toned glass beads to the front, actually 2 together, but they aren’t showing up too well in my pictures. I might have to see if I can find something more silvery in my bead stash.

I’m sure you’re wondering what might be going with this…

You’ll have to wait and see… :o)

Gotta get to bed again…
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, that second little top for Navi is just darling! I love how it looks with her pantalettes!

Now, Emmie’s dress….first off, I love that fabric. I have quite a “collection” of snowflake fabrics, but I don’t have that one! It’s so pretty. The little beads and the silvery ribbon belt…so nice!

I’m thinking there will be a little jacket, and maybe a purse to go with the outfit! We shall see!

Perfect save, Jeanne! Completely darling! Now Navi can dress up and go to Christmas church services and then when she comes home, can play with her her toys that Santa left her!
You knocked it out of the box, and saved a perfectly good little top!

I loved the dress the first way you started making it, so I was glad when you found a way to use the top with the puffed sleeves (my favorites). What a perfect addition to the ensemble. I love the fabric in Emmie’s dress and the belt is perfect. Can’t wait to see what will go with the dress. I feel it might be a jacket of some kind because she looks kinda cold right now. Maybe it’s just me, we had a front come through yesterday, but it didn’t cool the house off much. This morning I feel a little heat would be nice, but we are about to leave for the hospital so I’ll wait till we get home to turn on the heat. It’s on A/C right now but I seriously doubt that will come on any today with the high in the 60s.

So is today the day for husband’s other knee? I’m sure all will go well and know you will be very busy. Keep your spirits up and plan your next sewing adventure. 🙂

    2. Dear Barbara,
Praying all goes well with David’s knee surgery A repeat of last time would be perfect as he was up and around very fast.

Genius stroke on Navi’s new top.

The beads aren’t really showing up on Emmie’s new dress. Silver buttons? Or a couple of beads in the center of each snowflake? Since the dress is sleeveless, I’m pretty sure you are planning on a jacket and hat for church — more opportunities for beads — I’m for the beads, just in different places. I mistyped beads as bears — I think a teddy bear is called for here.

    Silver Snowflakes?

Love Navi’s saved top. So her. 🙂
Great pattern for Emmie’s sparkles in the snow dress. I see so many LD outfits with poor fitting hiked up bodice tops. This one looks perfectly stunning. The belt appears to have a native American theme? A matching satin ribbon would be my choice. Maybe she needs a fluffy little shrug type top to ward off the cold and a narrow crocheted scarf too. And maybe a muff to match. 🙂
We actually hauled over the tree from the other house yesterday. Still in the box, but maybe it will be put together soon.
Can’t wait for Sally to send a photo of the latest regular line RRFF girl that will be coming out soon. She was the contest winner and gets to announce the new doll. 🙂 Hope the mail delivery is swift on this one. 🙂

  6. Hi Jeanne,
I loved that you used the first top. Like Barbara I also love those sweet little puff sleeves. I thought oh no what a shame she’s not using it.. so happy to see you didn’t scrap it because that top you made is fabulous! Received my twinkle Giggi two weeks ago and still haven’t put her eyes in. At least she won;t be shopping on line and bidding on Jeanne Marie originals if she can’t see! lol. Jeanne what a lovely LD dress. A little long sleeve shrug would look great. Can’t wait to see what you do to finish it off.
Hope this finds everyone doing well. Prayers going up for Barbara’s hubby as he faces surgery today.
    Hugs to all
    Ingrid

  7. Now that is really cute for Navi. When she’s opened her presents she can take off her pretty Christmas dress and put on the “playing with presents top”. She does look a bit sad already at the realization that her Christmas dress isn’t really her’s to keep. Some little dolly will be thrilled with the extra surprise piece.

What a sweet dress you have started for Emmie. It will look nice at Christmas and also perfect for New Year’s Eve and any January occasions. The blue with snowflakes is lovely.
I’m also assuming she will get a little wool jacket to ward off the chill. I’m for a muff as well.

Wow, Sally won the latest RRFF doll? How exciting and can’t wait to see her. She’ll have lots of company with all her other Rubies and choices of a wonderful wardrobe. I ‘m really looking forward to seeing her because Frieda was my grandmother’s name. 🙂

Sounds like a Frieda should become one of your dolls. Especially, since it is a family name. 🙂

    Good morning!

First, Barbara, thinking of you and David. May round two be as terrific as round one in results.

Like others, I am so happy to see that first top saved and saved so cutely! Sure is nice having some options with outfits, Jeanne. I, too, think Emmie made a super choice in fabric. It certainly will be fun to see what unfolds here with that outfit. Jeanne, so good to see you back in the sewing room more, and using your creative juices. What a wonderful wig you made for Navi!

Yes, I won the giveaway of the new core line doll that will be released soon, named Freida. The spelling is not like Laura’s grandmother and my husband’s aunt. (So this spelling gives the “i” the long sound. In German, when “I” and “e” are together, the second syllable gets the long sound.) Fortunately, some kind woman on FB tipped me off how to send a “pm” to RR to give my address and other info to them. Since I had until the last day of December to give them that info, I am assuming that they won’t be sending me the picture, let alone the doll, until after then. Anyway, very excited and grateful for this opportunity to have this doll. Also, with that name that is German, I am suspecting she might have a very pale braid like the Vasilisa doll Joy should be getting this winter. I had hoped she would be Latina. Doesn’t matter at all; she will be gorgeous and make me smile! 😊

Heading to Denver shorty for a couple days with youngest son and wife…the “super fun” kids! Got a host of fun things scheduled and looking forward to it. A few days works for me. My kind of getaway.

Have a lovely day, sisters! ❤️

    1. Hi Sally,
That’s interesting on the RRFF name spelling, I hadn’t caught that. Hopefully, since you gave the info early they won’t make you wait and get her in the mail.
As an interesting note, as I said my grandmother was named Frieda and my grandfather’s sister was named Frida, but they were both pronounce FREE-duh.
Funny to have a sister and marry someone with the same name other than slight spelling difference. Also both my grandmother and great-aunt were almost entirely German and both had dark hair.
Again, congratulations. A free doll is always wonderful!

Hi, Laura. It’s past 11 now and I finally figured out an internet connection…well, hubby did.
Thanks very much for the congrats. Very excited.
My husband’s aunt’s name was also spelled and pronounced the same as your ancestors, and also German through and through.
I will certainly share her picture with you all when I am able! 😊

    2. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Sally, congratulations, how wonderful! What a fantastic way to end the year. We are all excited about seeing our new niece.

      Safe travels.

      1. Sally from Colorado

Dear Dorothy, you are so sweet. It really is a wonderful way to close out this year with a “won” doll.
I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow when we have our high tea here at the Brown! Wish you sisters could all be here. 🥰

  9. Debbie in North Carolina

Jeanne, So glad you did not scrap those puffed sleeves, they were my favorite too. Now it is two outfits in one! Always a winning combination : ) Nice start for Emmie’s dress. Whatever you decide to do next will be just right for this dress.

Congratulations Sally! I can’t wait to see your winning doll and I can’t believe “our” Sally was the winner! I have no expectations for this doll as Ruby Red Toys continues to surprise me with their new releases.

Still living among the boxes but there is a semblance of a Christmas tree.

    Debbie

    1. Sally from Colorado

      Hello, Debbie!
Thrilled to hear there is a Christmas tree there in your new house and that boxes are getting unpacked. Sure is a process! And exhausting.
Thanks for the congratulations on this win and good wishes for this mini trip to Denver. We had a spectacular dinner where all staff and all diners have to show proof of vaccination. Then we went to a remarkable production of “A Christmas Carol” where we also had to show our certificates. We’re staying at the Brown Palace, a grand old hotel. Tomorrow we have high tea here which is a production, another dinner where vaccination is required, and a walk through the arboretum to see the lights. Home on Thursday. Just long enough to be away and get in the spirit!
      Don’t work too hard,
      Thanks, Debbie! 🥰

  10. Clever way to use that puffy sleeved top and won’t the winner be pleased! Now not only are you making shoes but wigs too?! She looks cute as a red head.
Your auctions with several pieces are being well received….so hope this one will be too.
Barbara..Best wishes for hubby’s knee number two.
You are a very lucky doll winner Sally 😍Can’t wait to see her.

  11. Alina from Krakow, Poland

I admire little Navi’s outfit. How to sew something so tiny and also shoes.
Sally dolls are awesome. She is very curious about her new doll. Regards, sisters.

    1. Sally from Colorado

      Hello, dear Alina,
Thank you! My dolls say hello to yours! Have you been crocheting at all? Also, are you and your family safe, I pray?
      Sending you a hug. ❤️

  12. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, Emmie looks so pretty. I think that some Little Darling is going to have a special gift from Santa under the tree this year, an Auntie Jeanne original (smile).
