Addy looks great outside in her new Christmas dress…

HI everyone,
I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I did but I didn’t get as much done as I had hoped too… new things came up and my list got longer!

Addy’s dress is ready to be listed and I even took her outside for some shots so you could see the color a little better. I thought the sun was far enough down in the sky to not make too much difference, but it still washed out the color just a bit… however some of my inside pictures are a little too bright yellow… I’ll find a picture that shows the color the best and let you know… I DID love the way her skin tone looked outside! She is such a beautiful girl!

When I came inside I started working on a reticule for Addy. I tried 3 times before I liked it. The first time was too boring… the second one was almost done when I realized it was too bulky when the strings were drawn up. So I scrapped it and decided to just use the aqua micro checked fabric. I also tried using some older vintage lace on it, but that didn’t look right with the white collar, so I just added an applique and called it done!

I filled a little organza bag with some rice to weight her reticule down just a bit and hang better, but I think I made it just a little too full… I think I’ll take some of the rice out… it looks like a knapsack.

I think of all my pictures, this shows the fabric color the best…

Her hairbow turned out sweet and it has a clip on the backside so the winner can use it however they like.

The snaps are all sewn on the back of the dress as well… Things like snaps take time, but don’t really show. However, they are a MUST!

I’m going to do my best to get this dress listed Monday evening… but no promises… my hubby is wanting me to prime the boards so we can get the baseboard up… we’ll see who wins… maybe I can do both… :o)

I’ll see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Addy’s ensemble looks lovely, Jeanne! I think you have another winner here!

I actually went to a doll show this afternoon! Haven’t been to one in at least 10 years (and there just aren’t as many to go to any more, either), and I can tell you, the “face” of doll collecting in this area has changed a lot. I only knew one of the vendors (and her mom–they always do it together), and no one else–and I used to know at least half the vendors at most shows! This one was mostly antique dolls, some vintage, so I mostly just looked, but did find a couple of little things, a Mary Engelbreith metal box with notecards, and a tiny Christmas book. Spent a whole $6, and was there less than an hour. It was fun to get with other “doll people” for a little while, though!

Addy looks beautiful, Jeanne, both inside and out! I love the hair bow and the pretty little reticule, but when you show her by the Christmas tree, she will need a present! And talk about a “glow”, she is glowing like a Christmas candle! Yes, this dress, can also work for fall, winter AND spring!

The reticule is perfect as is the dress. The colors do look true in the indoor pictures. All the features of a Jeanne Marie original are there now.

Perhaps you may not have read the rest of the script about painting. It reads: Hand over the paint brush and say ‘Have at it.”

    Good morning!

Jeanne, this gown is truly most remarkable. I love the colors and details. Another congratulations. And think about taking that smart tip from Susette.

Charlotte, sounds like fun going to the doll show. Glad you got out and found a couple little treasures. I am a fan of Mary Engelbreit. I have a framed picture of her Ann Estelle looking very grumpy and it says, “Must change attitude.” It’s a great reminder that makes me smile every time.

Laura and Linda, yesterday I commented on Saturday’s blog responding to your very thoughtful and detailed information about the AG/Costco Estelle ballerina.

Everyone, if you want to see those dolls, I provided a link in my separate post.

We have been having remarkably warm weather for November. I took down the Halloween lights, reorganized a lot of holiday decorations for storage, and got a lot of garage and shed organizing done yesterday. All the remaining AGs got dressed, the LDs were dressed…good feeling. As the temps are going to hover near 60 through this next weekend, I’m going to get the holiday garlands put under the windows with the lights. Doing the lights with extension cords and adapters is always a challenge. I will need to keep looking at that Mary Engelbreit picture when the connecting of lights gets tough! 😆

    Have a super day, ladies.

Sally, yesterday you asked what happened to the blog, “Poppets and Posies”. I’m sad to inform you that the woman who had the blog died a month or so ago. This was posted in AGPT.

Too sad. I just found the blog and now it is no more. May she rest in peace. She will be missed by many I’m sure.

After you have all you organization and decorating finished, which soon be soon, could you head this way and give me a hand. I definitely admire your energy, but beautiful temps do help with that. Our days are back in the 80s right now but thankfully the nights are in the 50s so it takes awhile for it to warm up during the day. I will be checking out the doll link.

    3. Hi Sally,
I just read your reply, so I hadn’t gotten a chance to answer your question and Linda beat me to it. . Yes, as she said, the lady who wrote sudden and “Poppets and Posies” died not quite a month ago. Very sad indeed. She was on American Girl Playthings (AGPT) and a wonderful , sweet person with all sorts of insightful comments. I had been reading her blog a long time and was follwing the thread on AGPT about RRFFs. She had ordered Victoria.
No, I’m not on Facebook and don’t want to set up an account. I did sign up on RRFF for their emails and I’m on Happily Ever After as that’s where I purchased my Requiem (Anaelle). Thank you for the other site.

The third photo outdoors by the hedge seems to have the best color. Not washed out and would be a good one for the listing in my opinion. 🙂 I think the bricks were reflecting in the others. I love the indoor full length photo of the back of the dress which shows Addy’s artfully styled hair as well. All of the indoor photos show off the dress beautifully with perfect color. And on to the listing. 🙂

  6. Kathie from Omaha

Joys comments are just what I would have said☺️ Love the bow in her hair. Good luck getting her listed.

Beautiful ensemble and it looks so perfect on Addy. Ditto Joy on the pictures of the back. Love the hairbow. Very clever embellishment. Still trying to get my pictures taken. I got a good start the other day but have many interruptions these days.

  8. Addy’s dress is just beautiful and really very season spanning. The matching hair bow was a great choice to not detract from her dress. The reticule is very sweet Addy is ready for a very special Christmas.

  9. It is just beautiful and perfect! Addy is such a beautiful girl, and that dress is so lovely. And the reticule is fantastic.

You could start a second business restyling AG hair. Of course storage for boxes and packing would take up too much space but I’ll bet a lot of people would happily pay for Addy’s or Elizabeth’s or Josefina’s hair to be restyled.

Addy looks beautiful. Your dolls always look good outside against those beautiful backgrounds. The first reticule is very nice and should be saved. Do you have enough fabric for a matching capelet? I’m thinking ahead to your next outfit. The new reticule is perfect with that dress and picks up the fabric at the neck beautifully.

As for paint — painting can be miserable, as I noticed while painting the insides of my kitchen cupboards, but of all the remodeling jobs, it may be the most rewarding — everything looks clean, neat, and different. Your house looks more beautiful by the week, and often by the day.
