More Little Darling Swap goodies…

It took me forever to decide how I wanted the presents for Sara and Stella and Rozen to look. I tried a few different things from paper and tissue but finally made my own boxes and then covered them with fabric. Then I had a bit more fun decorating them and gave them to the girls. I didn’t take time to stand them up, but you get the idea…

Kathie received her Swap items from the Little Darlings Swap too and I know how you all love seeing what everyone gets… so here is an email from her telling about her items…

Hi Jeanne,
I was on the receiving end of some lovely Little Darling items too. In case you have a weird day and need some pictures. The lady’s name that sent me items is Phyllis Burki in case maybe other sofa sisters know her. She is an amazing seamstress for sure. The swaps are fun.

I was so tickled to get Charlotte as my swap person just because I knew several things about her already. I had a problem with the striped shirt finishing the back and knowing she is a 4-H judge made it worse😳🥴 but she graciously did not mention it😉

Charlotte already told me she’d send pictures of her things from Kathie and I’ll show them when I get them…

But here are the items Kathie received…

A box of fun…

She said she couldn’t decide, so she sent both outfits!

The perfect size backpack…

So cute or what???

Now wasn’t that a fun Swap box? I’m sure Kathie was over the moon with both outfits…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Jeanne, the presents are perfectly coordinated to the outfits the girls are wearing. A really beautiful display. Can’t wait to see the “official” pictures!!

I loved seeing your outfits again, Kathie!! You got some wonderful things. It’s so nice they not only got a fall outfit but a Christmas one as well!

Thanks, everyone, for the nice comments on my pictures yesterday.

First, about the Viewmaster. It was truly the hit of the things I put in the swap! I got it and the crayons at Snapdoodle Toys in Kenmore, WA. I believe they have a web site and probably do mail order. I saw several other miniature toys along with the VM when I was there, too. (By the way, I still have my original Viewmaster, from about 1953 or so! They were WAY heavier then than when we bought one for our son in about 1980 or so! My husband still has his VM projector, too! And we both have reels for them.)

Thanks, Anne, for the info about the machine-smocked dress pattern. I will look it up!

Ingrid, if you have a good machine service person in your area, you might want to take your old machine in and see if they can get it running well for you again. My Viking #1+ “died” a few years back, and the one place said they couldn’t do anything–too old a machine. But then I talked to someone else, and they said that, as long as it was only the Bushing (a generic part) that broke and not the needlebar (a brand-specific part) itself, he could repair it–and he did!! And I am still sewing on it!! But it was out of commission for several months until I found someone to fix it, so I was thankful I hay serger! The others come out as needed. Congrats on the new dolly coming your way!

Joy, I am so sorry about your wounded hand! Take care, and hope it is better soon! I’m thankful you didn’t actually fall, though.

Sally, my machines aren’t all set up at once. Just my #1+ and my serger. The others come out as needed. Congrats on the new dolly heading your way!

Alina, we love to see knitted things, too! I know you do beautiful work, so yes, do send Jeanne some pictures!

Ingrid, I hadn’t thought about some of the Hallmark ornaments working as accessories for our dolls! Will have to take a look!

Barbara, yes, you should participate in the next swap! It’s fun!!

I was thinking, as I read yesterday’s comments, how close our little group is becoming, replying back and forth on each other’s comments. It really is quite delightful!

Thanks again for all the nice comments on my pictures!
    d backups!!

Oh Jeanne, how adorable those presents are! That’s just like you to make your own and not use something already made. They go perfectly with the dresses! I can’t think of a single thing they need now to go for sale, you have everything covered!

Charlotte, thanks to you, I ordered a dolly Viewmaster yesterday! I had no trouble find them on EBay, just typing in “miniature Viewmasters”. I too, remember as an child, they were very heavy, and black. Now they are a much lighter and colored. Oh well, the idea is the same! Molly will find that under the .Christmas tree this year, so you can say I have started my Christmas shopping!

Oh, goodness, I completely forgot to comment on Kathie’s darling outfits she received in her swap! Lucky you to get not one, but two darling outfits, Kathie! I especially love the cute fall outfit, and love the way you took pictures of it In your lovely garden! Your dolls look just adorable in their new clothes!

Wow, what delightful Christmas presents. Only Jeanne could come up with the cute wrappings and make the boxes too. So cute. 🙂
Kathie’s Little Darling swap outfits are both adorable. Lucky lucky. The romper reminds me so much of an outfit for Ann Estelle/Engelbreit. The fabric is so sweet and perfect for the fall season. And the dress with the tabs with those cute red thigh highs will be perfect for the big holiday coming soon. 🙂
I’m going to see if I can talk other person into visiting our local Dollar Store. He goes along for the “candy” aisle. I however am looking for the “good” stuff. 🙂 Thanks for all of the comments about the great finds there. Haven’t been in months.
Thanks for the nice comments about my rosebush grab. The hand is in great shape today and will be able to put on it’s leather glove and do some serious clearing/trimming of the path and step soon. 🙂

I never got back to the blog yesterday and just read this morning about your hand. Glad there was no serious damage but I know it has/had to be pretty sore.

When I saw your message under the name Joy Aloise it didn’t connect at first that it was you for sure but it reminded me of something I meant to mention before when you said Landry’s middle name was Aloise. I live in an area settled by Czechs and this name seems to be in common use here as a first name among the older folks. Any information on it?

  5. Hi Ingrid, Thank you for mentioning the Hallmark ornaments. I will have to look next time I am nearby.
The presents are wonderful, Jeanne, and put the finishing touch on the outfits. Now I like all three for different reasons.

Oh, Kathie, those outfits you received are just darling. The romper with it’s acorns is beyond cute and you have the perfect copper haired cutie to show it off. The Christmas dress is very sweet. Love the tiny doll she is holding. Where did you find one so small, please?

So glad you’re no worse for wear, Joy, and your hand is okay.

Wonderful gift boxes and they coordinate with the lovely dresses perfectly. Looks like you’re about to put them out there for auction.

What wonderful swap items. Two adorable outfits, a backpack, a cute little doll and a pumpkin to collect all the trick or treat goodies. What’s not to like.

I ordered one of the view masters from Ebay. It looks exactly like the one I had as a kid. I was going to buy a mini Etch-A-Sketch but it came from Australia and the shipping was enormous. Maybe another one closer to home will show up one day.

I finished Anaelle’s blouse yesterday and she is now wearing that and her cute skirt. I think I will give the other outfit to Stella. She doesn’t have much to wear. I still have to do the blouse on that one.

We had a good, much needed rain during the night and early morning. It lowered the temps into the 70s but didn’t do anything positive for the humidity. Still waiting for Fall.

Hope you can share the pics of the outfits with us. I’d love to see Annaelle in her outfit. 🙂

Jeanne your presents look so cute with each different fabric..leave it to you to make the gifts so unusual!
Thank you for all the nice comments on my swap items. Phyllis Burki made them and is a fabulous seamstress. I was very lucky..and the little doll was part of the swap too! I’m not sure you can tell but there is a clear tiny rubber band holding her in the dolls arm. They are the kind of rubber bands the kid’s use on braces or hair…another dollar store item😉
I received a tiny fish bowl with goldfish in another Little Darling swap several yeas ago. Not sure what the theme was for that swap but the size was just right. eBay is the best place to find the Hallmark ornaments because they are from all the years and almost always much less than the new ones that are out for Christmas.

Dear Kathie, thanks for sharing photos of your Swap gifts with the Sofa Sisters. Your girls look adorable in their outfits.

I need to send photos of my gifts to Jeanne also.

Dear Jeanne, the Sew-premes look adorable in their ensembles, holding their gifts. I am imagining that they are resting up between recording sessions (laugh).
