It’s called Comfort Gray, but here are the many variations of it!

I’m going to show you what I’ve been doing the last few days… painting… if you didn’t know…

But first, let’s get a little dolly time in…this time from Joy. She received her new Siblie, Natali, by Ruby Red Fashion Friends, and she came from Russia. Yes, she traveled halfway across the world, just to take up residence with Joy and all her “children!”

I’m sure she’s been welcomed by the whole gang! Isn’t she sweet?

Okay, I’m not totally finished, but since painting was what I did all day today, this is what you’ll have to read about today…

The color I picked was Sherwin William’s Comfort Gray but it’s been slow to be the gray you think of…only a few times does it really lean toward a true gray. It’s actually in the green family but it has a bit of blue and gray as well. Depending on the light coming into the room, the colors vary as you’ll soon see. My big picture window lets the east light in, the window at the end of the house, where my computer is, lets north light in, and opposite the big window is Rebecca’s old room, which lets in west light. So as the hours of the day go by, I get various colors from this paint. I’m not opposed to it, but I hope I get my color scheme right when I go to decorating.

Here are a few shots around the room…if you see a splotchy looking wall, it’s because the paint was wet…

See all the different variations of the Comfort Gray?

Here is my big picture window again… with paint “mostly” around it…

Looking into the new guest room, you can see how the colors differ… Agreeable Gray in the room and Comfort Gray on the doorway area

Two different looks from the same angle, just different times of the day…

I found this picture at the Goodwill the other day and for $6 I brought it home. It has the same soft tones as the paint does…

I think it will look nice in here…

I put a make shift curtain up since I have my drapes down… and hopefully will find something new besides the old pinch pleated ones we had up there…

Here is a panoramic shot of the wall I painted today… It looks pretty blue, but in person, it’s not quite that blue…

This is looking down the hallway into the kitchen…partially painted.

Here is another shot of the area just to the left of the big window and by the computer area… Same place, just different times…

My hubby is determined to get that flooring laid, and probably starting Tuesday! He was busy scraping the old peel and stick tiles off the floor while I was painting…

Going down the hall we had 4 different floorings… yep, 4! And only one of them was from us… that was the peel and stick tile that is closest to the bottom of this picture…we had it in our kitchen for 15 years before we put down the new vinyl plank flooring.

Then there were 2 different peel and stick tiles down the hallway about half way…then it was just the plywood!

But now it’s just a stick-to-the-bottom-of-your-shoe kind of flooring… until you get to the plywood. AND there is a remnant of carpet back in the computer area… I forgot about it…

Well, that’s what’s been keeping me busy…and I have a hayride this Saturday that I’m helping with…Yep, caramel apples again for me!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Natali is lovely! and looks like she’s getting to know the others pretty well. Do you think Luca’s eyes will now be on her, instead of halfway across the country?! 😉

I see what you mean about that color–hard to describe, and kind of hard to really nail down in pictures! But once you get your furniture and decorative items back in (and that new picture, which is perfect!), it will look different again, I suppose!!

The prep for the new floor looks like it was kind of tedious to do, but once all the old stuff is up, the new floor will go down so nicely, and you will enjoy it so much!!

If anything, I think Rory may be interested in Natali, as they are the same size. Luca appears to still favor Stella. 🙂

What a cute addition Natali is to your collection, Joy! We always seem to see your dolls on the deck, but do you have a place for them inside? How do you store them or show them off?

Oh, I know Jeanne, trying to come up with a color that looks like what you envision it to be, but then the lighting throws things off! My house faces north and south, and you can’t believe what a difference the same color can change in that situation! The south gives it a warm glow, whatever the color, and the north cools it off.

I cannot believe all the angles in your house! Just when I thought I kind of knew how your house is laid out, it changes! So that three window picture window is not your living room? Looking through that, I can’t see a gazebo, but I know you can see it in the living room!

Yes, the Antique Mall in St. Mary’s had most of the roof riped off, and I saw pictures of it even on the national news last night. What a mess for them!

So happy your new flooring will soon be in and then what? Jeanne Marie needs to reacquainted with her sewing room, that’s what!!

Joy, your new doll is so cute. You’ve got me looking them up, as if I didn’t have enough dolls already.
Thanks to Joy, Paula, Barbara, Sally and Linda and all for your lovely comments about my dolls. Jeanne reminded me to share that she got me sewing again after a 40- year lapse when I said to myself, “I can do that,” after joining the blog followers. I enjoyed sewing doll clothes for my granddaughter’s dolls until she lost interest in them. 😢. I used to make Hawaii shirts for my boys when we lived there decades ago.

When did you take over as the sole painter at your house, Jeanne? That’s a huge job and you’ll soon have done the whole house including the wonderful job on the kitchen cabinets! Maybe you need some knee pads also and you jump right in on the floors as well. The end is in sight soon. Beautiful job!

Since you’re acquired more followers, maybe it’s time to remind people about clicking on the blue line at the top or the arrows indicating Expand so they can Comment. It took me a while to figure that out. Thanks again for sharing!

Wish I had a place inside to do photography, but do not. Most dolls are in the doll room, but some are standing around near my computer space in the family room. No particular order at all.

That is a ton of painting. I really did not realize how large and varied the space in the Not Sitting Room encompassed. And the lighting certainly does vary with the time of day. Seeing the three window area with the light flowing in, is lovely. I think some sort of window treatment that can hang mostly off of the windows would be nice. I’ve seen long blinds that when pulled up only take up a very small area at the top, leaving the open window to shine. Or even individual blinds for each window that all open up together. Roman shades would work as well if hung above the windows so that they only covered a tiny bit at the top. Lots of possibilities there. Hope George is wearing knee pads because getting up that peel and stick is a bear. How exciting to have the painting under control and the new flooring in sight. Wow, it is going to look so nice and be well worth all of your effort. 🙂
Thanks for sharing our newest Siblie, Natali. Rory is very happy with the pup she brought along. 🙂

  4. I’m liking the Comfort Gray. The picture with Rebecca’s old room off to the side shows it best to me. A soft pale gray with a hint of even paler mint green. Would you say that is the closest image of Comfort Gray?
I like the picture you found. The frame is rather different though.
Looks like George is week on his way with starting the new floor soon. Your whole house is looking lovely.
Like Linda, I’m turned around in your house. I never realized there was a room down that hallway. I thought that hallway led to the attic door and maybe a closet door. Is your home all in one floor? I was never sure if it had a partial upstairs.

Joy, your Natali is very pretty. I’m sure she’ll fit in nicely. Already she has friends welcoming her. Thanks for sharing !

Wow! Huge job Jeanne! Helps me be realistic when I think about painting in my house! Yep see you at the hayride.

  6. Congratulations, Joy, on you sweet little Natali and I see she brought a fuzzball for everyone to enjoy. Thanks for showing her.
Btw, Today is National Black Cat Day and I will impart my words of wisdom regarding black cats. If a black cat crosses your path, pet it! If you are lucky enough to have one as I do, pick it up, snuggle and kiss it and get licked in return. =(^-^)=

The Comfort Gray is very nice and I’m sure you can’t wait to have everything finished, Jeanne.
The bird print is pretty and does have those soft colors. Are you re-framing it?
I’m a bit turned around as well. Too bad we can’t have a video walking tour to see the layout.

Joy your new doll is a part of a darling family! They are a cute little doll . Why is it they come from Russia? I’ve missed something here.
Painting is a big job and with all the prep work and floor finishing it is even more time consuming. The color no matter toward the blue or green is such a nice neutral. That picture will look awesome…what is the piece that looks like a ticket? The dark area around the edge will make it pop..how big is it?
Cant wait for all the finishing touches.

The original RRFF dolls and Siblies came out in the U.S. However, they are also released in other countries in different forms. That Poppets and Posies website shows all of the Ruby Reds so far, but does not show the Siblies. At least I don’t think so. Anyway, The Siblies have been introduced in Russia and France with different names, hair, eyes, outfits, etc. The French site is easy to figure out as you can translate it, but the Russian was more difficult for me so I ended up getting her from Russia, but on Ebay. Shipping does cost more though. I did hear that RRFF may come out with more Siblies and outfits here in the future. 🙂

Congratulations on your new members and to your new members. I’m glad you’ve joined and soon you’ll get to watch Jeanne put together one of my favorite things — a new Victorian outfit for Addy.

As interest in the Sibbies is growing, It’s probably time for Jeanne to start looking. Wouldn’t 3 Sibbie Christmas dresses be nice? I join Kathie from Omaha in wondering why your lovely Natali came from Russia.

Speaking of small things, this is from Happily Ever After — just look at Dorothy’s outfit and shoes. You’ll probably want to use the zoom feature. https://www.happily.com/Wizard-of-Oz-75-Anniversary-Mouse-Set-p/wrightozmouseset.htm
