A new pair of leather doll boots…

I, too, have a clothesline story to tell… and I hope I get the story right…It’s about my sister Cindy; when she was little… My Aunt Pauline was keeping her for some reason and decided to wash her blanket that had that satin blanket binding around the edges… well, my aunt couldn’t find Cindy and looked everywhere… guess where she was? She was sucking her thumb and rubbing the satin edges of her blanket… hanging on the clothesline… If I got that wrong, Cindy, correct me… it’s been a long time since I heard that story told…

While I wait to get help with figuring out the color of Isabelle’s dress set, I thought I’d show you a pair of leather boots I made a while back…again they aren’t perfect, but I’m still learning… and you know, practice makes perfect…maybe some day!!! :o)

Ten Ping can even wear these boots…

I tried once again to take some pictures of Isabelle…this time by a north window…I got the idea when I held my fabric up next to my computer screen to show you just how “off” the color was…I liked how the fabric color looked so I grabbed my backdrop and tried once again… it’s a little more greenish, but still not right…

Okay, enough on more pictures that aren’t right… I’m sure I’ve taken at least 300-400 pictures… UGH! So I wait!!!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Years ago, there was a Peanuts cartoon that perfectly matched your clothesline story, Jeanne–Linus was standing next to the clothesline, holding a corner of his blanket!

Oh, those little boots are just adorable!! And I see that they fit Ten Ping as well as Navi. I’d better keep Gigi away from the computer–she might get the idea they’re for her!

Now in these most recent pictures, Isabelle’s dress looks much more minty and much less aqua! Hm….maybe it’s some kind of “Twilight Zone” thing going on here?!

    1. HI Charlotte,
I think I remember that Peanuts cartoon picture… Cindy was probably first though… :o)

Thanks for the compliments on the boots… I’m getting there… not quite but getting there…

I didn’t do anything with Isabelle’s dress today.. I needed to give it a rest!
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. The tiny boots are the cutest thing ever! I doubt any purchased boots are “perfect”. Improving each time you make a pair is reasonable. Perfection as a goal is unreasonable.

    1. Well, Julia,
I’ll strive for perfection and if I only reach reasonable, I’ll be happy! ;o)
      Thanks so much!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Oh yes, these boots are great. I would like to see smaller eyelets though. I know they are available, as I’ve seen them a lot on other boots. I wonder if there is a tiny shoe supply store? 🙂
Anyone here have dolls by Rose BBFlockling? I have one little Wrascal that wears a Middi Blythe size shoe. About 23mm. I even dreamed about doll shoes last night. Crazy. 🙂
The yard waste can is full and pick up is today, so that means no tree/brush cutting until it is dumped. Lots more to go though. The broken sprinkler pipe is still broken. We’re at the point of just plugging it and filling the hole back in. It is so old and rusted, a repair is next to impossible. 🙁

    1. HI Joy,
The eyelets on Navi’s boots are 1/8th inch… I found 1/16th on Ebay… guess I need to get some of those for my tiniest shoes…
My hubby has been working for days on our chimney situation and it’s about like your pipe… a repair is next to impossible… but somehow he says it IS possible… so he moves forward…
      Wasn’t Riley’s shoes a size 23mm? maybe it was 28mm…
      Thanks Joy,
      blessings, Jeanne

      1. I somehow think Riley’s are larger than 23mm, but then I’m no expert. And yes, get smaller eyelets. They will make a big difference I think. 🙂
We’re back on the front yard hole and broken pipe after stepping away for a couple of days. We may be able to cut the pipe, clamp it to a plastic pipe and put in a new plastic sprinkler. Then more plastic and another cut and another clamp and maybe it will work. But, we will have to excavate a lot more dirt down a foot or two to have enough access room. Ugh.
So, what’s happening with the chimney? Going to remove it to just below the roof line? or? I guess I should take a pic of our two story chimney that needs to be removed. We’re not even close yet to doing that. The deck needs to be stained again which is probably first on the agenda. That is after fixing the broken irrigation pipe.
Wishing you guys luck with the chimney project.

        1. Hi Joy,
It seems our houses are keeping us quite busy!!! It’s always something around here…pretty much like The Money Pit movie!! We laughed when we first saw it, but now that it’s happening to us, it’s not nearly so funny!!!
I will check into those eyelets some more…
          Thanks Joy
          Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Cute boots, Jeanne! If they aren’t perfect, who would know?

What a sweet little story about Cindy and the clothesline! What little children do to calm themselves! I used to rub on my blanket too, but no thumb sucking! That was my son! He was a thumb sucker with one hand and twirled his curly hair with the other!

Well, today the dress does look more minty, but still is a mystery why some pictures turn out differently than others. Today, you may find out!

    1. HI Linda,
I learn something new every time I make a new pair of doll shoes… I need to make my glue come ALL the way to the EDGE of the soles so they don’t flip up like they are doing… and I need to make the part with the eyelets longer so they come farther in the front around on the shoe… Each time I tweak my pattern just a little bit… they get a little better…

I didn’t get together with Sebastian today…maybe tomorrow it will work out…
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    Hi, Jeanne!
Yes, the boots are darling and good for you to keep working at a new skill!
A couple of things. Your newest ensemble for LD is screaming awesome whether mint or aqua, but you did manage to get a few pics the other day more”minty”. I am looking forward to that auction.
The other thing I want to mention is thanking you for the inspiration to do the RRFF dolls. When I saw one of your blogs opening your Sarah, I started investigating them. Well, now I have 6 and may order Luca. Color me crazy because I never do things by halves here. Sigh.
So, I am looking for special sets for these dolls and you are one of the best, always!
Have a great day and keep being “you”. You’re mighty special, lady!
    Fondly,
    Sally

    1. Well, Hello Miss Sally!
So good of you to check in today! Thanks for your compliments on my boot making skills… I’m trying hard to learn how to make them so I don’t have to have any apologies when I show them! :o)
I’ll get Isabelle’s dress listed as soon as I get the Mint Mystery solved… I didn’t get with Sebastian today… but soon…
Wow! 6 RRFF dolls? That’s wonderful… Who do you have? They are very nice dolls and my hubby loves their sweet smiling faces! They are pretty reasonable too, aren’t they? That way you CAN get 6 if you like! I’m glad you are having fun with them… and they’ll be up soon for something new! :o)
Awww…thank you Sally… you are always too kind to me… I hope you and your hubby are doing well… If you see or talk to Donna, tell her I said HI too!
      Thank you Sally,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Dear Jeanne, the boots are so sweet. I won’t let my Lati Yellow Lea, called Lace, see them. She would want a pair (laugh).

My monitor throws off color also. I don’t know why that is.

Coming up in the doll world are the Madame Alexander Doll Club convention, Modern Doll Club Convention, United Federation of Doll Clubs (UFDC) convention.

Joy, joy, joy for us doll collectors!

    1. HI Dorothy,
Well, have Lace wait until I at least get a really decent looking pair of boots or shoes made and then she can look! :o)
Oh Convention time… what all dolly moms dream of! (some more than others!) I’m not mentioning any names! :o)
      Thanks so much Dorothy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Jeanne, you have tenacity ! Your boots are really coming along. Since they are so small, it must be harder to work with but you are mastering what a cobbler does! You’ve got more talent under your belt, girl!

Loved your blankie story about Cindy. My children all had blankies. I was a thumb sucker and it made my two front teeth turn slightly. Braces corrected that at a much later time. My husband sucked on his two fingers and curled his hair with his other hand. Must be a boy thing, Linda.
Jeanne, concerning the mint color of the dress, I wonder if putting some of those green mints you see at weddings or parties next to the dress and see what a picture looks like with the dress and mint together. You know, those mints that are pink, yellow and green. I suppose it’s silly to go and buy a bag of them just for a test.

    1. HI Paula,
I probably should have started my dolly shoe making ideas with a bigger shoe than with the one’s who have the smallest feet… but the tiny little things are so cute… I think they sucked me in! :o)
I’m glad you liked Cindy’s story with her blanket… everyone has probably got a blanket story!
I know exactly what mints you are talking about… and that is an idea I hadn’t thought of.. I did look through my fabrics and don’t really have anything else this mint green or I would have tried it… I’ll surely get it figured out…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. The clothesline/blanket story was too cute. The boots are cute too and pretty near perfect as far as I can see. Usually my monitor shows true colors, but I’m off on the mint dress myself. You may get a lot of bids in the hope that people can find out what the true color is. lol

Yes, Sally, the RRFF can be very addictive. It’s one of my favorite Dianna sculpts because of the smile. I have four of them: Bella, Sara, Stella and Hanna. Had to slow down for awhile because I’m running out of room on the dolly shelves. No matter what I make for those dolls they always look adorable.

    1. HI Barbara,
Yes, maybe I’ll call it the Mystery Mint dress! Buy it and find out just what color it really is! :o)
I finally put my RRFF doll boxes away today… I have had them out on a shelf all this time… It was time! They really can be addicting… and I just hope they don’t come out with anymore that give me dolly fever in the near future…
      Thanks Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. LOL I remember that cartoon, Charlotte. I loved Peanuts as a child and still do. I even found a little “lunchbox” at Hallmark years ago that was meant to hold a gift card and a tiny Snoopy plush.
Those boots are too cute. It’s great they can fit a couple of your dolls. Practice does make perfect and each time is getting better.
I’m sure you’ll get the color figured out for Isabelle’s dress soon. I just thought of something. Green is opposite red on the color wheel. I wonder if putting something red behind her to bring out the red in the flowers would help the green appear more correct.

    1. Hi, Laura. Santa Rosa, CA, where we live is the home of Charles Schultz. There is a museum and ice arena that he built. At one time, he lived up the hill from us and every time he drove by and we were out in front, he’d give us a wave. A very nice guy. 🙂

      1. Hi Joy,
How fun that Charles lived close to you and even waved to you!
        Blessings, Jeanne

    2. Hi Laura,
I was pretty happy when I realized the boots could fit both Navi and Ten Ping… and they would also fit the Chibbi dolls, like Poppy that I had for 2 weeks…
I might try the red trick tomorrow and see what happens… you might have a solution there and that would be great! I can at least give it a try…
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. The boots 🥾 are darling! How about just calling it Spring Green on the listing and let bidders decide for themselves what shade it is?

    1. HI Susette,
If Sebastian can’t figure out what is going on… I just might do that!
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. Those tiny boots are just delightful. I can’t imagine how you can work on something so small and it look so great. I think you have pretty well cracked it.
I really hope Sebastian can solve your colour problem for you. Personally I think people buy your outfits for the quality and style. If the colour isn’t quite what it appeared on the photos I don’t think they will notice but that is just me. Good luck anyway you will be very glad to get this one listed!

    1. The blue boots look so freaky cute on those tiny feet. You are getting so good at them.
Another talent to add to your resume😊
The skirt length on “Spring Green”is a it shorter or is it my imagination? Anyway…it is sweet.
My little sister went to sleep with her finger tucked into her satin edged blanket as well!

      1. Hi Kathie,
The dress is a tiny bit shorter than what I usually make them, but it seems like every time I hem one, a few ladies wish it was a bit shorter… It is noticeably shorter to me, but I thought it looked better when I made the thigh highs… I guess we’ll see… ;o)

Oh, the comfort of those satiny edged blankets… little kids everywhere went to sleep with them… :o)
        Blessings, Jeanne

    2. Thank you Anne,
I hope you are right about the dress (if I can’t get the colors right!) but I’m hoping I can…or Sebastian can!
Yes, I will be glad to get this one listed and sold and I’ll hold my breath until the person emails back and says they love it…
I’ve only had one time that someone emailed me and said they’d like to return a dress because I called it turquoise and they said it was more teal… but in the end, she decided the color had grown on her and she decided to keep it after all..
      Thanks Anne,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  12. The boots are cute — I like them better on Ten Ping. Making her an outfit to show them off might be a challenge, but not as much as making your pretty new outfit look green. It definitely looks more green today, and I like it a lot. I was afraid I’d like it better aqua, but the green is lovely and suits Isabelle’s dark hair perfectly.

We’ll be getting more snow, but I’m starting work on the garden. The thyme is starting to come back, the daffodils are getting ready to bloom, and th myrtle and violets are blooming — all very encouraging.

    1. HI Marilyn,
I read your first sentence and smiled… and then I read your second sentence and laughed out loud… yes, that green dress has certainly caused me some grief… but I hope the problem gets solved soon.. .I didn’t meet with Sebastian today… maybe tomorrow…

More snow? Oh Marilyn… why do you have to get MORE snow? Your poor flowers… but I guess your flowers will just have to wait for a bit warmer weather…
      Blessings, Jeanne
