Something to think about…

Marilyn wrote this a few days ago in her comments and I thought everyone might like to see it again…or perhaps for the first time… She definitely has a way with words… no wonder she co-authored a book! :o)

I laughed myself silly over “what has happened to this year?” Let’s see. First I was supposed to die and got better. Then the world got sick and pretty much didn’t get better. Then I started reading America in the King Years, and the world followed again with a new Black (and white) movement. Now we’re facing an election where most of us on both sides are following Michelle Obama’s advice, “Vote as if your life depended on it.” After that we have Thanksgiving, hoping that our families are safe even if we can’t visit each other, and we may still be waiting for election results. Finally we get to virtually Christmas shop if we still have jobs and money.
It’s things like Jeanne’s blog that keep me sane and I’ll bet I’m not the only one.

It’s nice coming here and seeing everyone drinking their tea and coffee and waiting to see what each other has to say.

I’m so blessed to have so many friends! I hope you feel the same way… Just wanted to take a little commercial break and say how much I appreciate and care for you all!

Today is my 39th Anniversary and I just wanted to spend the day with my hubby!

See you Monday, (or tomorrow night at the end of Nyssa’s auction on Ebay…) :o)
Blessings, Jeanne

Happy anniversary, Jeanne and George! Here’s to many more happy years together!

Next year will be the big 4-0 for you; are you going to do any kind of special celebration then?

Ron and I did for our 40th-we had a renewing of our vows and a small reception at church. Ron had survived a pretty serious surgery a few years earlier, and we decided that we’d better do it while we could, as we don’t know that we’ll make our 50th! (He’s 87, I’m 74; we’ve been married 46 years now.) I’m glad we did; although we’re both still here, Ron is getting pretty frail, and never knows from one day to the next whether he will be able to do things or not. We just treasure each day we have together.

  2. Dear Jeanne! Keep on blogging. Over the past two or three years (I have already lost track of how much time I read the blog) God has shown me through you, your husband and your circumstances once again His concern in the life of God’s children.
For about two years now I have been mentally writing you a letter about how God spoke to me through your blog posts about you and your life. I hope I’ll write it all the same. 🙂
I write in English only through an online translator. Therefore, my letter to you is still only in my thoughts, and my comments are rare.
Blessings to you and your family! May God help your family to stand in faith, in God in any circumstances!

  3. Yes, Jeanne, Marilyn has a way with words! it was wonderful to read her comment again and to see the wisdom in what she wrote. I have heard a line, something like this,” If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans!” I think about that all the time, and it brings me back down to earth!
I am wishing you and George a very Happy Anniversary! You two have grown together to be a “couple” in the true sense of the word! Might be interesting to hear how you met, which I don’t think we have yet heard about! So celebrate today and celebrate the life the two of you have together! Love to you from me!!

  4. Yes, Marilyn has a wonderful way with words. She includes all of us in her writing. Happy Anniversary to the most wonderful couple who show us so much about devotion to each other every day. Many more to you!❤️❤️,

  5. Marilyn’s post was funny, entertaining and hit the nail on the head as they say. She summed this year up perfectly and all of us have been plodding through this year no knowing one from the next what is coming to us.

Happy Anniversary and I hope you and George have a fantastic day doing something you both love or a mix of each. I know whatever you end of doing your day is going to be jammed packed with fun.

    Blessings

  6. Happy, happy Anniversary! Have a wonderful day and of course many more! It is so much fun to read the blog and if I have time to read what everyone else has to say! It is enlightening! Thank you All!

  7. Loved Marilyn’s comment the first time and again now. It would be great if national news picked it up. 🙂
Congrats to you and George. Hope you find a restaurant that is doing take out and can enjoy the day together. 🙂

  8. After reading what you posted that Marilyn shared and I did not see, I felt compelled to write this. I definitely did not agree with what Marilyn wrote or shared about what
Michelle Obama said or her view on politics. This blog should never be about politics.

Happy Anniversary and blessings for many more.

  9. Happy Anniversary!! And many more. David and I will celebrate our 41st in January. I always wanted a May wedding, but we picked January so we could go skiing on our honeymoon. Well actually he skied and I spent a lot of time on my backside. I’m a good water skier but not so much a snow skier. David went to college in Gunnison, CO, so he had a lot of experience, I had none. Many, many more for you and George. You are the perfect match.

Marilyn’s comment on the year pretty much covered it all. My choices in life came to an abrupt halt back in March when my grandkids returned from Spring Break to find the schools were closed. They were given a new start-up date every couple weeks in the hope of reopening, and then the governor just totally closed all the schools for the rest of the school year. Most of us never realized how hard it was going to be to get them reopened in some places. Here in Sealy (Austin County) the schools have been open for in-person since mid-August with no problems whatsoever. For children below 5th grade life is pretty much normal. For kids above 5th grade they wear masks with maskless breaks during the day. Not sure what they do but I’m sure it’s something outdoors. My grandkids live in Harris County and there is a push to keep the schools closed for in-person. Sadly it’s political. I’ve been on call for the last six months and making plans has been nearly impossible. As well as the schools being closed, the grandkids summer program run by their school district has been closed also. Thankfully I’m in good health and could fill in when needed. We’ve all had the virus and for us it was no problem. Other than the fact I don’t usually get sick and it was annoying to not feel up to par, we managed and life went on.

Whatever translator Oksana uses it is excellent. I’ve been translating a Vaniline pattern for my Les Cheries and can’t find a good way to translate from French to English. I used the translator on her blogsite, but most things didn’t make sense. So I tried another translator and it must have been the one she uses on her site because it was the same. Between pictures, my knowledge of high school French, and some of what I gleaned from her blogsite, I managed to get things ready to sew, but it took forever.

  10. Happy Anniversary, Jeanne and George!

Thanks Marilyn. This has been a year of one thing after another. It’s good to find some humor, even if we are hanging on by our fingernails.

  11. Happy Anniversary Jeanne and George! We were married on the same day 39 years ago as well. Where has the time gone! I try to remember our life thru the years to help me deal with getting older!
    God Bless
    Marsha

Congratulations to you and your hubby, too, Marsha!!

My folks, and my mom’s second cousin and his wife, were married on the same day back in 1945, before they knew each other! Years later they met, and remained good friends (and celebrated several anniversaries together) until their deaths.

  12. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY<Jeanne and George and God's blessings on many more happy years.

Thanks you, Marilyn fro a funny albeit accurate synopsis of the year. Having "places" and ways to escape from it all is becoming more and more critical.

  13. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! You are almost in the 40 Club🤩⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It is such a blessing to have a hubby that you can love, depend on, have mutual respect for and have fun with! It doesn’t happen to everyone…that’s for sure.
Thanks Marilyn for your commentary on this year.
I’m so glad to have my doll repair work, flowers and quilting . If I never left home I’d be busy everyday.
Thanks for your blog Jeanne…it’s always something to look forward to!🤗

Dear Jeanne, Happy Anniversary! This has certainly been a time of celebration for you. Thank you for sharing it with us.

I echo Marilyn. This has indeed been a challenging year. I consider Michelle Obama to be one of my personal heroes. I don’t think that’s political. It’s just a statement of fact and I am not proselytizing. Folks should believe what they believe.

I am very grateful to doll bloggers and bloggers in general who continue to post right now. I consider you folks my “front line” people because, as Marilyn said, you keep us sane and provide diversions from the daily chaos in the world.

So here’s an anniversary “tea toast” to you Jeanne. I wish you a wonderful celebration!

  15. Congratulations to you and George. As Kathie said, finding someone you can love, depend on and respect doesn’t happen to everyone. I am very envious. I hope you have a good day.
I enjoyed Marilyn’s post, yes she does have a way with words. It has been a very odd year. We thought we were out of the woods but…. There is a case in managed isolation that is under investigation in Christchurch so now we are are on tenterhooks. This virus is like a leak that a plumber manages to plug but it then breaks out somewhere else. I am pleased that you have completely recovered from the virus Barbara, not everyone gets over it with no after effects. We have had two more deaths in the last couple of days. I guess I had better make myself a mask!
We, too, have an election coming up, in just over a month. It had to be put off for a month because of the lockdown in Auckland.
I have almost finished the jacket on the Victorian outfit (circa 1876-83) I am making, only need to add the ‘buttons’ to the front. Then I just have the train to do as far as the pattern goes but I want to add a hat and reticule as well. Apparently the trains were dropped after 1883 and hemlines became marginally shorter. The dress was certainly impractical but of course that was the intention, proved that her husband was wealthy enough for her to do nothing but look decorative! Everything except the trim is recycled so am entering it into the Recycling section at our Patchwork and Quilting Exhibition in October which can be anything they said, assuming we aren’t still in level 2 of course. I’m wanting to call it “Does My Bum Look Big in This” (because of the bustle) but not sure if the curators will find it amusing. I have a small group meeting next Friday so will see what they say. Sam is going to do her hair for me and I have given her (Sam) some beads that originally came from an old necklace to make a necklace for the doll. A few years ago I had a burglary while I was on holiday and one of the items stolen was my jewellery box. Most of what was in it was costume except for my silver charm bracelet which was my 21st birthday present from my Mum but eventually the box was found, discarded in our local park. They obviously scooped out what was there in a hurry so when I got it back there were some odds and ends left (not my bracelet obviously). One item was a drop earing (just one) that I think will work perfectly with the dress. I was pleased to get the box back as that had been my Mum’s but still mourn my bracelet, it was my life in charms, most of them irreplaceable.
Talking of Sam, she says My Froggy Stuff has a lot of stuff on line to make books for the dolls, including pages with writing.
Anyway I really hope you and George have a wonderful day together and hope you do well when the auction finishes tonight.

    1. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Anne, I am excited to hear that your outfit is almost completed. I hope you will be able to share it with us. I think I ask myself about every dress I try on “does my bum look big in this?” (laugh).

I am sorry about your loss of jewelry. That was awful.

I love My Froggy Stuff YouTube Channel. I am convinced that Toya can make a doll roombox out of almost anything. She really enjoys crafting and it shows.

Anne, I think you have a way with words, too–comparing this pandemic with the ever -elusive, ever-challenging leak is right on!!

  16. Happy anniversary! I’ll wait for Monday to see how you celebrated. I hope it did not involve something like repairing the bathroom and did include a delicious work-free dinner.

    1. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Marilyn, thank you for your funny, witty words. I always find humor uplifting.
