Today is the 6th Anniversary for “I Dream of Jeanne Marie…” (the blog)

Yep… Six years ago I hit that publish button and my first blog post appeared. I had no idea what a ride I was in for back in 2014, but I’m sure glad I got on board! It has been more exciting than I ever imagined… especially meeting all of you! I really and truly do think I have the best subscribers out there. You all are so engaging and kind to one another. It warms my heart to have readers like you! Sometimes I’ll see a blogger who has comments like, “Nice post today!” “I totally agree!” “You touched my heart today!” “Just what I needed to hear!” and things like that… but some of your comments are like the first chapter of a novel… I love it that you always share what’s going on with you and are just as thrilled when someone else does and you get to see their pictures.

I went on my site and did a little snooping around with Google Analytics and found out these fun facts… (well, fun, at least to me!)

This post is number 1927. Now for a little bit on the numbers…

There have been 2190 days pass since I wrote that first post… (Here we go…)

If you take the number of posts I “have” written (1927) away from the total number of days (2190), that leaves 263 days that I haven’t written a post.

If you take those 263 days that have gone by the last 6 years, without hearing from me, that means there were 44 days each year that I didn’t get a post written.

If you take that 44 days each year, without a post and divide it by 12 months each year, it means I didn’t write something on average 4 days each month. I think that’s pretty good! :o)

You all have written 33,840 comments and I have answered 13,577…

These ladies have left the most comments on my most viewed posts…
Joy left 100 comments
Laura left 93 comments
Charlotte left 81 comments
Barbara left 65 comments
Linda left 58 comments
Dorothy in PA and the World left 49

The average time someone spends on my blog is 1 minute and 48 seconds!

The most comments left on a single post were from these posts…

77 comments ~ I need to step away for a bit…
52 comments ~ Two kinds of wonderful…
51 comments ~ I just can’t…
51 comments ~ 62 years…62 dolls…and counting…
51 comments ~ To make up for NOT getting Felicity’s dress made…

These are the top 10 places around the world that visited my blog…(at least for the month of July)
1. United States
2. Canada
3. Brazil
4. New Zealand
5. South Africa

I’ve had 406,062 views on my blog since I started on August 1st, 2014…and I hope to continue with another 400,000+ over the next 6 years.

What would you like to see more or less of from me? How can I make my blog more interesting? Anything I can improve on?
This is your one chance to let me know what you’re thinking…

Well, this might not be exciting or colorful, but I love the statistics I found and hope you found it a bit interesting too!

Congratulations on the 6th anniversary of your blog, Jeanne! We’ve all gone thru quite a lot together, in addition to the chatter about dolls and sewing–health issues, shared joys and sorrows, etc. It feels like an extended family here, and of course there is some crossover between your blog and some of the doll lists, so some of us know each other from more than one site!

I can’t think of anything I’d change, though. I like it quite as it is! Here’s to many more years of sewing and blogging, and chatting amongst each other!

  2. Happy Blog-versary! I don’t write comments *often* but, I ‘read’ most every day. I believe your blog is the one that I have ‘read the longest’ period of time. I’m not a real avid ‘blogger’, obviously, but, your blog keeps me ‘reminded’ that I have dolls to ‘tend to’… 🙂

  3. Jeanne, I read every day, it comes up in my email. I have loved all the writing about the renovations of your home. You two are amazing and so are your sisters. In fact, I think I almost like the stories other than sewing the best! I do love the sewing, too, and have learned some things from it, you are unbelievably creative in so many different ways. You just don’t see a problem you can’t solve. I have checked a few other blogs, but yours is the only one I have stuck with. Keep it going and keep up all the great stuff going on in your life.
    hugs,
    Sissy

Jeanne, I too read your posts daily. I am coming to the doll sewing world a bit later in life and find your blog a great source of instruction and inspiration. I refer to your older posts by doll or category and take hints. Since being retired I certainly relate to your “can do, make do” attitude. Sewing for my dolls is usually my form of relaxing and “making something out of nothing”. I love thrifting and repurposing things found for pennies on the dollar.
Your home reno posts are just as interesting to me. And, being of that age where parents are aging and frail is certainly relatible. I feel for the loss of your mother. Mine is still a champion of all my sewing projects and her instruction early in my life is used daily.
Thanks for being such a positive blog during such turbulent times…its a treasure you share with all of us.

  5. Sixth anniversary? How time flies. I wasn’t around at the beginning, wish I had been, but what a wonderful day for a celebration. Interesting statistics. Old big mouth here had to make the comment numbers. 🙂
So glad you have your blog. I’ve learned so much about many things and have met some lovely readers. Not sure how you keep coming up with topics, but you do. And your photos are wonderful. You are so kind to us all too. Thank you for a fun ride that hopefully doesn’t have too many bumps and continues down the road long into the future.

  6. Happy anniversary, Jeanne! Oh my goodness, six years already? Time sure flies when you are having fun, and I think I can speak for a lot of us, that your blog is such a fun and interesting place to be! Who would have know all the things we would be “ talking” about on that first day and what we had in store for us!

I sure do my share of talking here on the blog, but I can’t just read and not say anything, especially when you are so warm and engaging. I would feel very rude not to comment, and I love to share things with you and others. I also love to see what other people are doing in their lives, and it seems we all are the same when you think about it. We laugh together and cry together, live in different places, are different ages, and whatnot, but we all seem to be wonderful friends on this blog, thanks to you!

I’m wishing you many more years here, as much as you like doing it, and look forward to the next 6 fun filled years. Love to you, Jeanne!

  7. Congrats on 6 years of blogging! What a milestone. This is a refreshing oasis on the internet. I am always interested in what you write and the response from this community.

Dear Jeanne, how wonderful! We are all celebrating with you.

July 30 was International Friendship Day (I learned that through etsy) and I think that “friendship” best describes your blog post. Thanks to you, we have become friends. We not only share in your life but we also share in each others lives.

I follow other blogs (some are doll blogs and some are general living blogs) and I have found that this is the only one in which I feel comfortable sharing a bit of who I am and chatting directly with other readers.

I always tease that commenting on your blog is like sitting on the sofa drinking tea with friends but it really does feel like that. You have created a kind of “sofa sisterhood.”

In 100 years when historians discuss the importance of blogs, I think that they will say that blogs are written “time capsules.” They reflect how people live and how they view the world. Blogs alone are kind of diaries. Blogs with comments are like letters that folks write to each other.

It is amazing to share this time and blog space with you and the sofa sisters. This is a place to come and be oneself (says the non-cook, non-sewer, non-crafter -laugh).

So I am raising a teacup and toasting you, Jeanne, for your loving, giving, caring spirit. Congratulations on reaching Year 6! Here’s to the next milestone. As you move forward, know that we will all still be sitting here on the sofa sharing our stories and our lives.

    1. Hi Dorothy
I left a comment on yesterday’s blog re ‘dollhouses’ and ‘doll’s houses’. The latter is the English version, the former the American term. I have always called them doll’s houses.

      1. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Anne, thank you for sharing this. It makes perfect sense. It is wonderful to have international friends!

The seminar presenter referred to the Viviene Greene Dolls’ House Collection book as one she used to create her room-scapes.

  9. Wow, six years already? Happy Blog Anniversary! I know I wasn’t here at the very beginning. I joined PT in July 2014, so I’m assuming I found you sometime still in 2014 since you always posted your creation there as well. I’m amazed that I’m so high in the “comment leaving” since there are some days I read too late to comment . Joy and I must be super chatty LOL.
I so enjoy chatting with you and all the other wonderful ladies and seeing what you and everyone else is up to. It’s so much fun to view everyone’s photos. It’s amazing the things we find we have in common with each other besides dolls. The only thing that could be improved is if we could all get together in real life.
Dorothy really said it perfectly. Cheers as we enter year six of “the sofa sisters”.

  10. This is your blog’s 6th anniversary! Congratulations! You finished your sewing room just in time, and with a surprise for all of us. I thought the mystery fabric was an enlargement of a fabric pattern for a dress for Felicity, never guessing that it was a new outfit for a chair. Who would have guessed that that chair could look that good.
What a way to start your new year. What could be better? I do like the sewing and the outfits, but the best part is the way you share your life. I’m glad for your international audience. One survey of non-Americans indicated that they thought Las Vegas was us. I Dream of Jeanne Marie is much closer to who we are. Thanks for being there and representing the best of us.

  11. Hi Jeanne. I just love your Blog I check it out every day (it took a while for my computer to recognise your posts weren’t ‘junk’ and they now appear in my inbox)and I always read all the comments. I love that you answer people as well. Very few bloggers do, even when they are asked a question. It is like having, not just one, but lots of pen friends Everyone seems to care about each other.
When Charlotte was ill a little while ago there were several comments hoping she was OK. It occurred to me that in our cyber world when we finally pass away no one in that world will know. A depressing subject, I know but I see you all as friends so I have decided to make sure my family check my inbox and tell any of my virtual friends what has happened. I mean to do my best to make sure that doesn’t happen in the near future but at 75 I am looking at a future of years rather than decades lol.
However I really hope I am around for several more of your ‘anniversaries’. I found the numbers really interesting, you are a great blogger!
    Thank you

    1. Charlotte Trayer

You’re only a year older than I am, Anne! I have a notebook of passwords, and have told my husband to give it to my sister-in-law in the event something happens, so she can access my email, etc. and let people know. I also showed Her my notebook, so she knows what she is to get, when the time comes.

  12. I absolutely loved your posts about renovating your sewing room. And the ‘carpentry’ tasks that you tackled. Makes me think maybe there are some more things I can do. And I learned from your posts.

  13. Happy 6th Anniversary! Gosh…it doesn’t seem that long! I love reading it everyday. There is always something fun to see or hear about and your photos are so good. Love the step by step pics with instructions too. All the stages of redoing Rebeccas room and your sewing room have been great. Hey, is Rebecca finished with her room yet?

  14. Hi Jeanne.
Congratulations! Six years of blogging is quite an accomplishment, here’s to many more years of sewing and blogging. I did enjoy the statistics you gave and as far as your blog goes
I love it just the way it is. Congrats again. Enjoy your weekend!
    Hugs
    Ingrid

  15. Congratulations on the 6th anniversary of your blog, Jeanne!

I am I guess a newbie to your blog as I arrived about 2+ years ago. New to your blog and new to American Girl. You were so kind when I reached out to you with a few questions. I read your blog every day but commenting due to health issues no so often.

Your blog brings great entertainment whether it be sewing for a doll, the renovation of your kitchen, sewing room or DIY with your husband or sisters, recipes,…you name it. Each day here I learn something or how to do something better or easier. You make me laugh, learn and inspire me as do the ladies her….you are blessed to have such a great group on your blog. Some blogs are just a haven for fighting and negativity and who needs that.

I’ll have a slice of cake and hot tea in your blogs honor today as I finally am about 90% done with my sewing, art & doll room.

    Blessings,
    Sandra

    1. Oh Sandra,
We’d LOVE to see pictures of your sewing room! Please!!!
I hope your cake was delicious! :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  16. Sorry to be a little late but Congratulations Jeanne! Six years of blogging is quite an accomplishment and I must say you never disappoint!! While “Dolly” posts are what originally brought me to your blog, I have enjoyed all of your posts. Your sharing of home projects and family life is interesting and refreshing and I also love reading the comments. Your readers are also very interesting and eager to share – I love the term “sofa sisters”!

While due to caregiver responsibilities, I don’t always get to read your blog every day anymore but I always “catch up” and look forward to it. I wouldn’t change a thing Jeanne, you’ve done an amazing job and I wish you at least another wonderful 6 years.
    Happy Blogging and God Bless,
    Leigh

Thank you for sharing all the detailed tutorials with oodles of pictures. I know they are very time consuming to post but extremely helpful.

    1. Thank you Leigh,
You are too kind with your compliments!
I’m glad to have as a reader!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  17. Hi Jeanne, I’ve enjoyed your blog for a few years now and certainly admire your willingness to tackle any project! My favorite posts are when you give tips for sewing for your dolls …for example how to make the skirt gathers be neater. I also loved when you shared how to make your beautiful slips (although I haven’t tried it yet)
I would love to see if you could incorporate “Hearts for Hearts” dolls in your sewing adventures ……they are similar in size to Wellie Wishers!
    Congrats on 6 successful years!
