Pictures from the Lincoln Nebraska UFDC Star City Doll Event

Oh my goodness, thank you for all the wonderful comments you left for Linda and Julia for sharing their pictures us. Weren’t they wonderful? The leaves are beginning to turn pretty colors here in Southern Illinois and seeing those pictures of Branson Missouri was a real treat for me. I’m so glad you enjoyed them too. If you ever get a chance to visit Silver Dollar City, please do so…you won’t be sorry.

Thank you Julia for explaining to us how you made the book pumpkins… I think yours made a wonderful accent piece and if you made smaller ones they really could be used for centerpieces for tables.

My sisters are leaving Tuesday morning and so it’s time to get back to finishing Navi’s Fall set. I just need one more day to catch my breath. We packed in as much “sister time” as we could and there was no time for sewing or anything else for that matter, but hopefully tomorrow…

Today I’m sharing something Kathie sent me… The following pictures were from the Lincoln Nebraska UFDC (United Federation of Doll Collectors…I’m assuming?) Star City Doll Event. Kathie said their theme this year was the American Girl doll and she commented that she had never seen so many American Girl dolls in one place!

Here is Samantha, Nellie and Rebecca and Kit…

If you click on the pictures they will enlarge.

Kathie was wondering if Nellie and Rebecca had the same face… YES, they do. The Josefina face mold was first and the dolls who have that same face mold are Nellie, Elizabeth, Julie and Rebecca. Personally, it’s my favorite face mold!

She said it was fun to compare them side by side and didn’t realize until much later that they didn’t all have the same face.

This is Molly, Emily and Julie…

This is a nice group picture with Kit, Saige, or Rebecca, Molly, Felicity, Josefina in the back row and in the front row is Kristen, Isabelle, Lanie, I think Saige and then Maryellen. Somebody correct me if I’ve made a mistake…

A few more dolls… Marie-Grace, Addy, Caroline, and Logan, an AG boy doll.

Here is Felicity with her best friend Elizabeth and Kirsten from a different time period.

This is Kaya, the only AG doll with closed lips and the new Beforever Kit doll.

Emily and Molly dolls…

Here is a Kit doll modeling a dress that I’m guessing must be a custom creation… along with some other clothes…that looks like were being auctioned off in a silent auction.

This looks like more doll dresses for the Silent Auction…

This is American Girl’s baby doll, Bitty Baby in her basket. She was my very first doll purchase on Ebay.

Kathie said it was a fun luncheon with door prizes, a silent auction, helpers and a program. Thanks for sharing it with us… Not all of us can go to these doll conventions and it’s through pictures that we get to see what was there.
Thanks so much for sharing.

See you tomorrow, hopefully with some finishing touches! *wink* *wink*
Blessings, Jeanne

What wonderful pictures–thank you, Kathie! I love AG dolls!!

I have several of them–Molly, Kirsten and Felicity of the historical dolls, also the first Asian doll they made (a “Girl of Today”) and the blond one with hazel eyes–her hair is slightly wavy, parted in the center and in two ponytails. I named the Asian girl AbbyRose Lian, and the blonde is April Eleanor.

    1. Hi Charlotte,
Wasn’t it fun to tag along with Kathie and see all these AG dolls? I had so much fun and hope you did too.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. How lucky Kathie is to be able to go to these doll conventions! I love seeing what others do with their dolls, and just seeing the dolls all in one place. I guess the closest to that for me is going to an American Girl store, which I am going to do tomorrow…..Kansas City! It is a 4 hour drive, which is a lot longer than the 20 minute drive we had when we had a store in St. Louis!

Wanted to mention that you said Kaya is the only AG doll with the closed mouth, but did you notice that all of the AG boy dolls also have closed mouths? Also, compared to the first dolls made by Pleasant Company, the first name for American Girl Dolls, the newer dolls are much slimmer and you have to be careful when buying or making clothes for the older dolls, since they made them chubbier. Thank you Kathie for taking us along to the doll show, so to speak!

Thank you all for your kind comments on my pictures yesterday. I enjoyed sharing them with you and hope you all do the same with your pictures!

    1. Hi Linda,
I hope you have fun on your trip to KC…are you looking for anything in particular?
Yes, Logan is made from the Kaya mold so he could actually be a twin to Kaya.

The older AG dolls definitely had chubbier bodies than the slimmer dolls of today. Sometimes it can be tricky trying to make something that will fit both body sizes.

I bet you’ll see some pretty scenery on your trip to Kansas City!
Have fun…is there a Harbor Freight store for your hubby to go to while you “dolly” shop?
      Thanks Linda

  3. What wonderful pictures of all those American Girls. And they’re all in one place. That must have been a fun day for all those who attended.
I have never been to any type of American Girl event in Ohio, Michigan, Indiana or California. I mention these states because we visit them and live in some. I can’t even find local woman who collect dolls, let alone collect the American Girl dolls.
So, seeing that there are events like this is great. Thank you for sharing Kathie’s pictures.
Jeanne, I know you have been enjoying time with your sisters. I hope you had a great time, which I’m sure you did. Sisters are special for sure.

    1. Paula, there are United Federation of Doll Clubs (UFDC) doll clubs in almost all areas of the US. If you’re interested in finding out if there’s a doll club near you, please visit https://www.ufdc.org/ If you click on Membership at the top of the page, there’s good information about the different kinds of UFDC membership. If you scroll down to the Regions map and click on your state, you’ll get contact information for your Regional Director who will be happy to provide detailed information on UFDC doll clubs close to you.

      1. Thank you Cheryl,
I hope everyone sees your comments and finds out what’s going on in their area!
        Thank you so much!!
        Blessings ,Jeanne

    2. Hi Paula,
I never see anything for doll enthusiasts around my area either… I may have seen one doll show in St Louis a long time ago….but that was all.
My sisters left this morning and we had a wonderful short visit. We tried to pack as much into 2 1/2 days as we could!
      Thanks Paula,
      Blessings ,Jeanne

  4. Rosemary Bolton

I love the pictures. Thanks also to Kathie for sharing these with you
I really enjoyed seeing these pictures

    1. Thank you Rosemary, I bet it was lots of fun to see these dolls in person! Glad you enjoyed them!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Love Kathie’s photos from the doll event. Wonderful seeing all of the AG’s and so great that Jeanne can remember all of their names. I too have AG dolls. They mostly just stand or sit around though and don’t get out much. 🙂 They did mention yesterday that they would love to have that piano like Linda’s.
My Meadow girl Lolla finally arrived yesterday late. Got caught though by other person. Didn’t seem to matter that I had ordered her so many months ago and have been patiently awaiting her arrival. Can’t wait to get her eyes in today. 🙂

    1. Hi Joy,
Oh no…your doll box was intercepted by somebody other than you???? Oh no..I’m sure you didn’t plan it that way! When is that mailman ever going to learn to let you know ahead of time when he’s just about to arrive with a “box?”
Congratulations on receiving Lolla! I hope she has her eyes in by now!!!
Your poor American Girl dolls…just standing around watching new boxes arrive every once in a while…maybe they need some atention!
      Thanks Joy
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Great pictures from Kathie. I would love to go to a doll convention sometime. I just seem to be a day late and a dollar short in finding out where they all are. There was one on the east side of Houston I had no clue about. I use three different lists and it was not on any of them. There is no “national” listing. Sure wish there was one.

Like Joy I received my Lolla yesterday and hope to get her eyes put in today. Then I can secure her wig better so it doesn’t keep falling off. Cute wig and it was shown on a Meadow doll, but it is not snug fitting. Didn’t want to secure it until I got her eyes in. Hubby is not fond of her name. He keeps referring to her as LaLa from lala land. He usually doesn’t care what his dolly children are named, but he really is not fond of this name although he likes her just fine. I want to call her Lolla Rose but may have to refer to her as Rose when discussing her with him. I was actually surprised at her size. I thought she would be more like a Little Darling but she is more like my Ann Estelle Sophie whose dress she is wearing. The shoes were too big but her very own shoes arrived shortly after she did. I am so used to seeing Dumplings in pictures and was amazed at how small the eyes really were. Now I’m really in awe of the face-up you did on Bailey. I have a dress to finish today for my rescue doll Brenna and then I will make a few things for Lolla Rose. And while I’m at it I will go ahead and make her a Christmas dress.

    1. Hi Barbara
Maybe go back up to the comments from Cheryl…Paula asked about Doll Conventions and Cheryl gave some good information.

I think it’s funny that your hubby calls her LaLa from LaLa Land. Shes probably secretly his favorite.
I hope you get something made for her soon!!!
      Thanks Barbara
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Glad everyone enjoyed seeing all the American Girl dolls! That Club does a great Doll Day…. it is kind of like a tiny convention because every part of it is about dolls. It’s such fun to be around others that can “talk dolls”. If you don’t have a UFDC club in your area check out their website. It is a well run fun organization of doll lovers, collectors, and supports doll history and knowledge.

    1. Hi Kathie
Thank you so much for sharing your pictures with us. I think everyone loved seeing the many AG dolls.
I have never been to any doll convention but I bet they would be so much fun!
      Thanks for sharing with us…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Speaking of American Girls, we just returned from Costco, and they have Tenny, Gabriella, and the astronaut along with a bunch of extras for each. $119.00 Seems like a good deal to me. 🙂

    1. Hi Joy,
Well, the million dollar question is…did you come home with one? I’m guessing no since your other AG dolls are just standing around.
But thanks for the info for anyone who is looking for a new girl…
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Thank you Laura,
I love that AG doll face guide and thanks for the update on the last 4 dolls.
I’m glad you enjoyed seeing the dolls. If anyone knew who was who, it would be you!! Have you ever been to a doll convention?
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. This is very late again, so I hope everyone gets to see it. If you go to Google dot com and type in Doll Shows, you will see a list there that shows a link to the website called Doll Shows (or something similar). Then click into the website and there is a pull down menu for each state. Click on your state and you should see quite a number of doll shows listed.

The only problem with the internet sites is that someone who is running the show has to email them about it so they can list it. If the show does good marketing, it will be there, but it won’t be if they aren’t doing proper marketing of their show. Same thing for Dolls Magazine. The show organizers have to let these places know they are having it, but many just rely on “word of mouth”, sigh.
    Love and Hugs, Ali
