My Meadow, Bailey in a “basic” dress…

I say “basic” because the dress isn’t finished yet. It’s just the “basic” part that is finished. The snaps are sewn on and it’s hemmed, BUT…it’s not EMBELLISHED yet!!! That’s my favorite part! I’m still debating about how I’m going to finish it…pockets, silk ribbon flowers, buttons, a hat to match…hmmmmโ€ฆ

I guess you’ll have to check back tomorrow to see how things turn out!! :o)

Bailey picked out this wig, but I told her it looked a little bit flat…she still liked it.

She found some boots in the shoe drawer and said they looked good when she crossed her leg…:o) oh brother!!

I asked Bailey to try on this little bobbed wig…first she looked in the mirror and cocked her head side to side, then said, “okay…I like it!”

Well that was too easy! :o)

Hope to see you back tomorrow!
Blessings, Jeanne

Bailey looks adorable in either wig, although the first one is more “little-girl” looking to me–at least, MY hair was kind of thin and flat like that when I was little, as was the hair of some of my friends. However, the short wig is ever so cute, also! I love those little short hairstyles on little girls.

As to the dress–very fall-like, and now waiting for embellishment. Let’s see, maybe some embroidered leaved down the lace band? Or some tiny flower buttons? Perhaps a cute hair bow, or a little purse for an accessory….Hmmm…..

    1. Thanks for your thoughts Charlotte,
We did a little back and forth but ended up wearing the long wig after all. I think either would have worked but somehow the long wig won out.
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings ,Jeanne

  2. What an impish little cutie pie, Jeanne! Oh yes, the shorter hair matches her personality best, I think! The picture of her crossing her legs…..LOL! She looks like she could do anything she sets her mind to! She looks like a cute little October pumpkin!

The dress is going to be darling, and it is now! I too, love the embellishing part best and wonder what you will do. Bailey is pretty small, isn’t she?

By the way, I had no trouble with the blog today, and did see your explanation of the problem yesterday. It happens!

American Girl’s fall release is now online. They have some pretty dresses this time for the Historicals and a lot of other cute items. Prices are going up!!

    1. Hi Linda,
Yes, the short wig does make Bailey look a little more impish than the long one, but in the end, we went back to the longer one. Somehow it just looked better with the hair bow.
Bailey is 11″ and Pstsy is 1p” but they both can get by with wearing this dress. The lace that is attached to the hair bow is too long for Patsys head, but it could be shortened to fit Patsy if need be.
I haven’t taken a look st the new AG things…I guess I should.
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Cute dress already! I couldn’t really see the pattern in the fabric but I love the color. The first wig is cute, but the second one is like the one I bought for my Lolla to be. To be honest, and I can’t go look, I can’t remember what color I got.

I wanted to comment on what Ali C said the other day about watching where you buy property. We’re good to go with what we’ve been looking at, even regarding snow. Most years not too bad. Some a little worse but the snowplow man lives up the road a piece so we’re always plowed. Cedaredge had a brush fire on the southeast side of town a few years ago, but evidently has an amazing volunteer fire department because every building was spared. But the northwest side where we would be has had nothing like that. Right now Colorado is under fire watch (dry, low humidity and lots of wind) and this area is included in that but we have had rain lately. We pray anyway.

We will be traveling tomorrow and Thursday so I don’t know if I’ll get to check in, but I’ll catch up as soon as I can. I want to see Bailey’s new dress fully embellished. She is so cute. Wish Lolla would hurry up and show up. The latest preorder is an adorable doll named Sissi in Dumpling and Twinkle size. I’m thinking it might be time for a Twinkle to join the family. But I can’t contemplate buying another until Lolla is paid for.

    1. Hi Barbara,
I managed to get Bailey’s set listed on Ebay so you’ll be able to see it better in those pictures.
We decided on the long wig after all..

I’ve seen that little Sissi doll and she is a real cutie…I don’t know which one I’d rather have…the dumpling size or the twinkle..that would be a hard decision…

      Have a safe trip home…

  4. I definitely like the long haired look. However, with a small pony tail pulled up with a grip clip or band on one side. Would be so cute. I suppose you could do the same with the short wig. Maybe a small bow added would be sweet too. Or, with the long wig, braids. ๐Ÿ™‚ Love the sleeves with the tiny bands. Perfect for Bailey. I had to laugh when I saw the lace down the front of the dress. I’m just finishing up with similar lace of which I’ve been cutting out the fabric behind. Probably will never do that again as it is taking forever with lace on the skirt, cuffs, etc. And wouldn’t you know, on one of my last cuts, I had to nick the lace. Ahhh…
If I ever get it completed, I’ll send a pic.
On another note, now I’m complaining about being too cold. Last week it was 105 and this morning was only 60 inside. Time to put in the new heater filters and crank on some heat! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Well, Joy, you got your wish…we decided on the long wig for some outside pictures…I don’t know exactly why I changed my mind, but I did…
Talking about lace.. I bet I redid that 2″ piece I put on the front of Bailey’s dress 6 or 8 times
I just couldn’t get it centered… finally I got it.
      So I feel your pain…

Its supposed to cool off around here in a few days…I’m ready..
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    Dear Jeanne,
Bailey is such a cutie. I vote for the longer hair. I think little girls look so pretty with long hair.

I don’t sew but I like the dress just the way it is. I think the color is lovely.

I am with Joy on it being cold. I do not like cold weather. I had my gloves on the other day when I was running errands. I am sure I won’t be warm again until May.

Dear Laura, hello and thank you.

I am able to watch Antiques Roadshow in Central PA. I love the watch the expressions of people when they find out that their heirlooms are worth a fortune. Unfortunately, my heirloom was not (chuckle).

    1. Hi Dorothy,
Well, guess what? We switched from the bob to the longer wig! Are you happy??? :o)

I only added a little bit of change to the dress along with some pantalettes. Then we went outside to take pictures…

I hope a warm front comes to PA. It’s a LONG time till May gets here
      :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Bailey is becoming a very spoiled little girl, I think. She end up on your cutting table very frequently. Does she just appear there in the morning? Just kidding. I prefer the short wig. My daughter had her hair in a little bob when she was three and four. I would part it on the left side and use one of those Goody snap-tight barrettes, I think you know the ones, but just in case not

or a about three inch grosgrain bow on a clip or one of those twin- bead ponytail holders with the acrylic glass balls. She had bangs as well. It made for a sweet look
The fabric you’ve chosen is just darling. I always enjoy your embellishing as well.

    1. Hi Laura,
I’d like to sew for Bailey and Navi more than I do. These dolls are so popular right now…so I sneak them in every so often…
Well, I hope you aren’t disappointed, but we switched back to the long wig…not sure why…we just did…
I just listed it on Ebay but it truly was a race against the clock…
We had a great outside session and I hope everyone enjoys her pictures…
Thanks Laura…for your Antique Roadshow info too.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Iโ€™m a big fan of the short wig…love the color and the style. It doesnโ€™t overwhelm her cute little body.
Have fun on your get away !

    1. Hi Kathie
Well, the long wig won out in the end. We did take some outside pictures and I think she looks pretty cute. I hope you will too…even in the long wig…
Thank you for the tiny little buttons you sent me. I LOVE them and WILL use them!!
      Blessings ,Jeanne

  8. Just looked at the listing. What a perfect finishing touch. The lace headband and lovely matching floppy bow. Perfect for Bailey and so completes the dress. Lace embroidery doesn’t hurt either. Good job! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thanks Joy,
I hope you got your lace project solved… sorry about your troubles…
Thanks for your kind compliments. This one really happened quickly! Yay!
      Now, to see who’s next…
      Blessings, Jeanne
