I had a lazy weekend….

I wish I had some super duper post to share with you today but truth be told, I just took some time off to catch up on things.
We had a great time near St. Louis on Friday, but I’m pining over something we couldn’t bring home…I saw one of these on our last trip to Paducah, but we were in the car and it was too big to fit..

This one was in a big thrift store in Fairview Heights, near St. Louis, and once again we were in the car and it was too big. What was it?

It was a wonderful oak cabinet with glass shelves and glass doors…and the back was a mirror so it would have made my sewing room seem bigger… it was $74.99…and my hubby looked it over trying to see if he could take it apart and we could somehow get it in the car, but it was about 6 1/2′ tall so there was no way. Waaaahhh!!

I would love one like this to put my dolls in… My Naked. Dust. Free. Dolls!
Oh well, I’ll get over it…but I’ll keep those pictures on my phone, just in case I feel like pining some more! :o)

Here’s a picture of Reuben waiting for my hubby to come in. He was working on the car and Reuben was trying so hard to see him. Rebecca scooted this stool over by the door so he could sit on top and see my hubby. He stayed up there quite a while.

Tonight I tried a new recipe for a pizza crust. I used 1 cup of self rising flour and 1 cup of Fage Greek Yogurt. The 2 ingredients were mixed together with your hands, using a little flour to keep them from sticking to the dough. When you get it to where it looks pretty well mixed, divide it into 2 balls…or leave it as one big pizza. (I made us each one)

Heat your oven to 450 degrees.

Place some parchment paper on a baking sheet and flatten your pizza with your hands/fingers. Mine were just about the size of a luncheon plate. Lightly spray the pizzas with Pam cooking spray. I had olive oil spray.

You bake the dough by itself for about 5 minutes. Then take it out and add whatever you like. We like Mid’s Pizza sauce, an orange diced pepper, a few pieces of cherrywood ham diced up, and mozzerella cheese. They wrre yummy. I was doubtful that it would taste like real pizza dough, but it was really good! I’ll be making them again. My hubby wants a chopped spinach and mushroom one next time. :o)

Like I said…I had a lazy weekend…I hope sewing is in my post tomorrow!!

See you then,
Blessings, Jeanne

OH, that Would be a lovely cabinet for your dolls!! Maybe if you’re really good, Santa will bring it to you for Christmas!!

That is such a cute picture of Reuben, sitting waiting patiently for his daddy!! Love it!!

Your pizzas look really yummy!! We had pizza last night ourselves–went to a local pizza place, though, and also had Green Rivers to drink. They make them there–just lime syrup in some 7-Up, she said. We did bring home half the pizza, so that was our main meal today, too.

I had a busy weekend–it’s our month to clean the church–so new sewing. I just have to topstitch around the top of my bag and it’ll be done! Tomorrow looks to be about my only day to sew, so I’d better get busy and finish it!

    1. Hi Charlotte
I’m sure that cabinet was snatched up by the time we finished looking in the store. I sure did love it!!
Reuben does the same thing when he knows it’s about time for Rebecca to come home!!

I hope you enjoyed your pizza as much as we did ours.

I’m hoping to get in my sewing room today…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Lazy days………….we all have and need them, Jeanne! I have had a few myself lately! I love that cabinet! Could you not have made a down payment on it and have them hold it for you? It seems that would be a reasonable thing to do. Yes, it would look very nice in your sewing room!

Your pizza looks so good and colorful!! We had a pasta dinner last night, thanks to the annual one our church has. While the church does the salad, polish sausage, rolls, desserts and drinks, they have a very well known Italian restaurant do the pasta. I am full!

We leave tomorrow for Branson for a couple of days of R&R. The weather has cooled off and it is much better for going there. I doubt the trees have really started to change, but we will see. Silver Dollar City is having a Pumpkin Fest, which will be fun! Maybe I will have a few pictures for you!

    1. Hi Linda,
Well, they may have let us pay for it and then pick it up another time but George’s truck is 27 years old and he never drives it that far from home. Becca’s Blazer isn’t long enough. It was really tall and I think that’s why I liked it so much…narrow and tall! I’ll find one around here one of these days!!!
Oh…Silver Dollar City…that’s such a fun place to visit!! I hope your knee is well enough to enjoy all the walking around!!
      Yes, do send some pictures!!!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. “Oh, Wow!,” said me.when I saw today’s post. I, too, would have asked if they’d save it and pick it up later. Add the cost of the fuel and you’d still be ahead. Oh, well.

I made up for many lazy days. Came to Texas on Thursday and Krish’s birthday 🎂 party was Saturday at Urban Air, an extensive indoor trampoline and climbing 🧗🏿‍♂️ place. His cake had a Minecraft theme, wonderfully detailed, by a lady who has a complete little bakery shop they built behind their home when the business got too big. I took pictures of what must be a couple of hundred year old massive trees 🌳 in the front yard. Eight little boys and families had a great time. Made lasagne for dinner last night. May try our your pizza recipe, Jeanne. Thanks.

    1. Hi Susette,
I would love to have paid for it and picked it up later, but my hubby’s truck is 27 years old and he never drives it farther than 25 miles out of town…I’ll find one!! 😊

It sounds like Krish’s birthday bash was a hit!!
I bet everyone had such a good time! I’dove to see those big ole trees!! 😉
      Thanks Susette,
      Blessings ,Jeanne

  4. I had a lazy week-end too — but I did do a lot of chores.

I hope you can find a friend with a van, or a truck that will get the cabinet for you.
    $75 is a steal

    1. Hi Rosemary,
I’m sure that wonderful ca inet is gracing someone else’s sewing or living room…filled with their wonderful treasures!! I’ll find one closer to home sometime!!

      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Absolutely love that cabinet. Only wish it were here on the west coast, because we have a truck. 🙂 Oh well, I’m sure another will surface on Craigs list for you. On Nextdoor out here, most stuff is posted for free. I’ve seen some great finds mostly because people don’t want to move large things like pianos etc.
Your pizza looks delicious. We had the grands Saturday night, so ended up with Costco/Kirkland frozen cheese pizzas which were excellent. Would be perfect with a few toppings added and quick and easy too.
Reuben looks so cute waiting impatiently for George’s return.
Made a quick trip to Joann’s yesterday. Picked up a few little pumpkins for props and some of that cobweb witchy fabric in grayish to hang as a Halloween accent. Will never look as nice as Susette’s display though. Also found their Halloween/fall stuff was 70% off. Picked up a couple of storage boxes that do not look like Halloween at all and were in the regular section. And another smaller one that matched but not the same label so the clerk marked it down too. Practically free storage boxes. 🙂
Need to clean the heater filters at the other house and rake leaves. We may actually have some rain this week too. Definitely fall is in the air.
Is it cabinet painting time yet? 🙂

    1. Hi Joy,
It was a great find and surely must have just been put on the floor when I spotted it. Things that nice and that price don’t usually last very long!! You’re right.. I’ll fine one…closer to home!!
I saw some storage boxes in Joann’s that caught my eye too…I didn’t buy them but wondered how they’d look in my sewing room…I’m sort of getting where I like things tucked away and not so colorful out in the open…
I went to breakfast and she told me they are going to paint her cabinets…it got me to thinking…I want mine done… 😊😊😊
      Thanks Joy!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Perfect cabinet, Jeanne. What a lovely cabinet to display items in, especially dolls.
Those pizza’s look delicious ! The crust recipe is interesting. I may have to try that.
Glad you had a lazy weekend as I know you are always so busy.

    1. Hi Paula,
I would LOVE to have brought that cabinet home. But it wasn’t possible…one of these days it will be my turn to find one and bring it home. 😊
I can’t have too many lazy weekends but this was nice
My sisters are coming this next weekend so I better get busy before they arrive!!
      Thanks Paula
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Time to recharge and refresh is very important for our over all well being. Taking an opportunity to do that is wise, Jeanne.

I am going to try that pizza crust. It sounds yummy! Rueben is totes adorbs waiting for dad!

My brother and my parents are arriving this afternoon. Bro lives in Fargo ND and they had at least 6 inches of snow so the trip was delayed one day. Parents live close to Canadian border and they didn’t get much. Down here next to Iowa, S Minnesota, we had flurries most of Saturday but nothing stuck. This is just too early for this “stuff”. Ironically, this trip was planned for early fall so the weather would not be an issue. HA. Did I mention, everyone is going home with a pumpkin?

    1. Hi Julia,
Well, I did just what you said…recharged!!!

That dough was incredible…you can find the recipe all over Pinterest and it can be made into bagels, pastries, pizza bites, all sorts of things. I found a ladies post where she had made I and followed her directions, but I dont know which site I was kn now…I looked at lots before giving it a try.
      I think it’s just called 2 ingredient dough…
Weiked it and I think I might try it again when my sisters get here.
You DID mention everyone is going home with a pumpkin… I think that is such a fun idea..
I may have to copy your kindness!!
      Have fun visiting with family!!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. We certainly don’t begrudge you some downtime. I really don’t know how you find the time to do the blog, you stay so busy. But I know we are all glad you do. It is a fun part of my day and I look forward to each edition.

What a beautiful cabinet. I think I would have had to ask if they would hold it for me. But then maybe getting back to pick it up is a problem. I feel your pain. The price was amazing for such a beautiful cabinet. I would love it for my sewing room, but I passed it by the girls and they said they are afraid they wouldn’t be able to breathe in there. In reality I think they just want the freedom to move about when my back is turned. David is sure he hears them moving around at night. And then there’s the fact that I have absolutely no place to put it.

Interesting pizza recipe. I would love to try it but I think I’m the only person in the world that doesn’t get along well with yogurt. Strange I know.

I do hope that we see pictures from the various doll conventions. It seems there are some of us who go and the rest of us can enjoy through them. I can’t afford the doll conventions because I keep buying dolls. That’s why the one in San Antonio would have been so great for me. Easy to get to. I-10 is just a half mile from my house and a straight shot into San Antonio, and gas is pretty reasonable in Texas. Certainly better than what we paid in Colorado.

Reuben looks adorable standing watch over George as he works keeping him safe. We have a Cocker who is very protective. We couldn’t understand why when we were on a trip and one of us was out of the car but the other was still inside Chelsy would still go ballistic. We finally figured it was because she couldn’t protect the person outside. She needed us together to perform her most important job.

I really need to take a day and go to JoAnn’s and Hobby Lobby. I need some props for some fall scenes before everything changes over to winter. I’ve been looking for a doll size fan rake but can only find ones for a doll house. I may have to make one but I need some raw materials.

Heat has returned here to southeast Texas and the A/C is back on. Anxiously awaiting the next front – whenever.

    1. Hi Barbara,
I’m so glad you e joy the posts each day!! I love doing it and would really miss you all if I didn’t!
The cabinet would have been a really nice piece in my sewing room but my hubby’s 1992 truck would not, could not. SHOULD NOT go that far from here. I’ll find one…now that I’ve seen that one, I just might have a case of “Cabin-et” fever!!
Maybe some day we’ll alk have the dollies e want AND maybe we’ll all find our way to a doll convention! Hope so!!

      It’s a pleasant 73 here today

A perfect Fall day. Slightly breezy and sunshine galore!! 🤗🤗🤗

I’ll have to think about how to make a rake…
      Thanks Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. if you bought everything we wanted you to, what a full house you’d have. but the cabinet is lovely and wd be useful.
your llazy days don’t look lazy to me.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
I guess you are probably right…Rebecca asked me where I’d put it…and I gave her my “usual” answer… “I don’t know exactly. But I’ll figure it out!!”
      Thanks Marilyn!!!
I’m SO glad you are able to visit with us now!!!
      Blessings ,Jeanne

  10. Here am I, late! I understand how you feel about that cabinet. I have an antique barrister bookcase that my dad gave to me maybe 15 years ago. I love that it comes apart in six sections- the top, the bottom, and each of the four wavy glass fronted boxes stack together. I have it filled with books, my old copies of Victoria, and a few little knick knacks. There was one for sale for $50 at a yard sale down the road probably 10 years ago. I looked at it, and decided no I don’t need another bookcase. How I wish I had bought it today. It would have been perfect to put my five dolls on top and filled the shelves with my collection pieces. Probably could have hung the clothes on the lowest.shelf. If I find one again at a yard sale or our antiques store, and the price is right,I’m buying it since I can bring it home in the car, even if it takes a couple of trips.
Reuben looks so cute trying to see. My Yorkie, Phoebe, that I had as a child always would watch through the window if you were outside and she wasn’t. My one kitty understands that things can move from place to place in the yard and not disappear. He will run from window to window to try and keep a squirrel in view.
That pizza crust is definitely one to try. It doesn’t get any easier than that. I always make homemade crust, but with yeast that requires rising time or my other that has baking powder and milk.

    1. Hi Laura,
I remember you telling about your barrister bookcases before and I love them… they are great that they come apart. I hope someday you run across another set of them and can add to the ones you already have.

I’m ready to try another go at that recipe again. I think I’m going to make it when my sisters come this weekend… I was really impressed with it. You can do all sorts of variations on the dough…bahels are pretty popular using it. It’s all over Pinterest…under 2 ingredient dough.
I hope you like it if you give it a try

      Blessings ,Jeanne
