One last fling at Cool Spoons…

There are too many things going on this week and I never even stepped foot in my sewing room today…that’s rare.

We did, however, have a cookout/picnic one last time with Alba, Edgar and Sara…The weather was slightly cool, a bit of a breeze and it couldn’t have been better for a picnic. I, of course, made corn casserole and sent the leftovers home with them. Our neighbors made steaks and baked potatoes…YUM!

After dinner, we went to Cool Spoons one last time. It’s an incredible frozen yogurt place here in town that is famous for their numerous toppings that can be added to your yogurt. This is a post I did about Cool Spoons… HERE

It was funny, Alba remembered the exact date we took them there the first time… February 21st, 2015…she said it was a freezing cold day!!!

This was my afternoon and night, so it’s all I have to write about today.

Can you guess what this is? For the picnic, Sara decorated a cake with cherries and you won’t believe what this is… any guesses?
It’s a tear drop… for having to leave here… *sob* *sob*

Well, I hope I make it into my sewing room tomorrow…I bet you do too…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, what a happy/sad day you had, with the cookout, the trip to Cool Spoons, etc. It is always hard to leave a place/group of people you have grown to love, and equally hard to be the ones left behind! Thank goodness you will be able to keep in touch with skyping, phone calls, etc.

My goodness, Cool Spoons certainly has a large selection of toppings!! Must be a fun place to take kids.!

Sara’s cake decorating skills continue to improve! But……sob sob…..a teardrop?! Sweet, yet sad…..

I took a little spill last night, so my shoulder is sore again, but at PT today, Carrie tested me and doesn’t think I’ve reinjured it, just jarred and disturbed the not-quite-healed muscles in there. It’s still pretty sore, but better than this morning. I see my doctor tomorrow (regular visit) so I’ll have her look at my left foot–that big toe is sore, a victim of my fall.

    1. Dear Charlotte ~
Hope you have a very quick recovery with your shoulder and your toe too :O(

Dear Charlotte, oh my goodness. Bubble wrap, bubble wrap, bubble wrap.

Charlotte Noelle, your namesake, sends a big hug and says, “tell Auntie Charlotte to walk very slowly.”

      1. Charlotte Trayer

Tell Charlotte Noelle I will try to be very careful! Big hug back to her!!

    3. Sorry about your falls. Have any of your medications or dosages been changed recently? My dad had that problem with falls. I always asked, “What has changed?” Good luck, Charlotte.

Best wishes to the whole family, Alba, Edgar and Sara. We’ll miss seeing you and hope you’ll keep in touch. Congratulations again.

Thank you all! No, no meds have been changed. My foot just slipped on the rug–I stepped on it in the wrong spot, I guess. I’ve never done That before…and have had that rug there for many years! My shoulder is starting to improve already, and I saw the doc today (follow-up visit for something else) so she x-rayed my toe. Haven’t heard yet, but should know something tomorrow.

  2. Oh, what a wonderful sendoff you gave Edgar, Alba and Sara, Jeanne! It reminds me of a song that was popular back when I was graduating from high school, “Graduation Day”. Does anyone remember that one? “It’s a time for joy, a time for tears, a time we’ll treasure through the years………….” Well, you can leave the part about the Senior prom, :-), but the rest of the song is pretty appropriate for the occasion!

Sorry about your shoulder, Charlotte, take it easy! And did you see my information I left yesterday on the blog, about the Country Egg Casserole?

And so, we say good by to Edgar, Alba and Sara, how fitting the teardrop on the cake was!
    Godspeed!

  3. ok you’re gonna laugh …looking at the first picture (in the right upper corner) I thought hmm a frozen yogurt store that also has bolts of fabric – no wonder Jeanne likes it so much! Then I put my glasses on and of course, it’s the tubes of toppings I was looking at. Silly me but it is a sewing blog so… Anyways, had a good laugh at myself.
I too never saw so many toppings, it would take me forever to decide but it looks like a wonderful, yummy place. Sara’s cake is beautiful, thoughtful and artistic. I love how kids have the freedom to create what is in their hearts; the teardrop says it all. We sure are gonna miss your Alba, Edgar and Sara posts but know you will keep us up to date when you can. What a wonderful relationship you have had with these dear people.
    Blessings to all

  4. Oh Jeanne, how torn you must feel with the leaving of Edgar, Alba and Sara…but the joy that your memories bring to you and them. Thank you for sharing your time with them with us throughout the years. It’s been a blessing to “meet” them.

    Blessings.

  5. They have been wonderful friends, the kind who will leave beautiful memories on your heart forever. They will keep in touch after they return to Columbia, I’m sure of it.
You and George have been the kindest of friends… the kind we all hope to meet when we are in a strange part of the world.
I know goodbyes are so bittersweet..❤️😢

  6. Cool Spoons for you, hot chocolate for me. Hot chocolate goes with snow, and that’s what we have here. Snow on the ground. Snow in huge plumes of white covering the green leaves on branches. It doesn’t look much like the Colombia our favorite Colombians are returning to. Maybe Sarah will return and study to be an English teacher if she doesn’t become a baker or an artist.
Thank heavens for email and Skype and FaceTime — you won’t have to lose this family. You may not have dinner together, but there are things you can share and you will.
Leigh did make me laugh. I think she’s not the first person to mistake the Cool Spoons toppings for bolts of fabric. I hadn’t realized how tall the toppings containers are. Your pictures are wonderful.
Charlotte, keep taking care and make this a small setback. Let us know how you are tomorrow.
Jeanne, good luck on having sewing time. Sometimes other things are just more important.

    1. I could not believe when I saw on the news last night that the Denver area had snow. My daughter used to live in Arvada but lives in Loveland now. I can’t remember her having snow in May while living in Arvada. I’ll have to check with her to see if she had snow too. She used to let me know every time it snowed when she first moved up there. Now it’s become so normal for her I have to ask.

  7. What a fun way to celebrate your last time with Sara and family. I was looking at the candy in waiting in the long tubes and couldn’t see which was the most popular as they all were full. Then, I looked at the bottom and discovered that the tubes were just a prop and the candy was filled below. Silly me. I sure hope that some photos from Columbia arrive once in awhile that you can share with us. That cake says it all.
I hope Charlotte’s doctor has a suggestion to prevent the recent falls. Not good at all. Cane, walker, removing trip hazards, balance class? Hoping for swift recovery.
Yesterday, I actually cut out the free pattern from the summer sew along. Hoping I can make it fit My Meadow, Mae who is 16″. We’ll see how it goes. Poor thing only has one outfit.
Looking forward to seeing Emmie’s dress when it is finished.

  8. I can’t seem to get back in my sewing room either, and it’s not because I am hanging out with wonderful people having a great time. I have this problem every time I’m starting a new project. I think I get overwhelmed with all the small parts I have to consider before I can even get started. Maybe today…

Cool Spoons looks like a fun place to go. I don’t think we have anything like it in the Houston area. It’s pretty amazing. Leigh’s misunderstanding of the picture really made me smile. Everything takes on a whole new meaning without my readers. I’ve finally gotten in the habit of putting my glasses on when I use my debit card. There’s always questions to answer, and I’m afraid of pushing the wrong button.

What a sweet sentiment Sara gave with her yummy-looking cake. I know she and her family will be missed very much, especially at holiday time when they contributed so much to the festivities.

I’m sorry to hear about Charlotte’s mishap. Sounds like she’s in good hands. I hope she heals fast and completely.

Anxiously awaiting the next edition of the new outfit. It’s like looking forward to opening a Christmas package.

Dear Jeanne, my first guess was uterus. I have no idea why. I thought, oh my goodness, someone is pregnant! Who could that be?

I was kind of relieved to see a teardrop (laugh) but then it made me kind of tear up as Sara has been, is, such a part of your life. I think she will forever be your niece.

  10. It’s getting real for Sara and family to be leaving now. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Sara return to your area when she is older. She has such lovely memories of all the people she’s met and especially you and George. Learning to sew and cook has to be some of her top memories.
Hope you can relax and get back to your sewing…dying to see what accessories you are going to put on the cute little floral/check dress. A straw hat maybe?
It is November here this week…so far dreary, cloudy, rainy and 40’s. …and last Friday it was 95! Good time to catch up on dolly repair…if I ever get caught up?

  11. Just popping in for a second between the yard work and family errands. Yesterday and today have been cooler before the heat hits. What a “sweet/sad” day you had with your friends, Jeanne.
Hope your shoulder is okay, Charlotte. So sorry about your mishap.
