More of Brian and a bit of Emmie…

Joy sent a few more pictures today of Brian’s Welcome Home celebration in California. It was raining yesterday so she couldn’t get the whole clan outside until today. But just look at all these smiling faces… :o) Mine included!

This is what Joy said…
It stopped raining so I was able to get a few photos of Brian’s welcome home. You don’t need to post them, but just wanted you to see the rest of his tale. 🙂 Of course we wanted to see them… so sorry, Joy… I’m showing them…
Here’s Brian pulling up to find his new family waiting with a welcome banner.

You really should click on these pictures…they enlarge really big and you can see all the smiles on their faces!

Brian meeting Nicco who is thrilled to have another boy around.

And Brian about to hand out the cookies that arrived with him to his new friends.

The airplane, I’ve had awhile. Ebay, Xonex 1/3 size. There are several different ones, but this one was the favorite. 🙂

Thanks Joy… boys are always welcome on this blog!!! :o)

I was a little bit busy today in my sewing room… straightening up things, but this evening I decided Emmie would be my next model… I’m not sure what we’ll do with the rest of this set, but I got a basic bodice put together and now have to decide how to finish it…

I have a few suggestions laid across Emmie…and don’t know which colors I like best… the red and white, the blue and white or maybe both, or maybe tomorrow I’ll wake up and find something totally different…I guess we’ll all see… soon…

I’ll have to see what I think tomorrow and hear what you all say…

Have a wonderful Saturday… I think it’s supposed to be 86 degrees here! I hope it’s nice where you are!

See you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, what wonderful pictures of Brian and his new family!! Thanks so much for sharing!!

So far, I am loving that floral fabric for Emmie; I’m thinking the red is a bit too strong or bright (at least, it seems so on my screen), though, and would be inclined to go for the blue, between the two. Otherwise, maybe a deep rose shade, or perhaps even the yellow might work.

Looking forward to seeing the next installment of this one!

    1. Hi Charlotte,
I knew everyone would want to see more of Brian…. so glad you enjoyed the pics….

I scratched the red and highlighted the dress with the blue… today the red looked too heavy… I’m glad you’re liking it so far. Its really a pretty fabric…

      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. How cute to see Brian making his “grand entrance” to Joy’s household! I know Nicco must be thrilled to see another boy to have rough and tumble play with! What a job to set all those cute dolls up without them tumbling over! Darling Joy, and thank you for sending that!

I have to agree with Charlotte, that the red and white check is too much for the flowered material, at least to me and the way it shows up on my monitor. I much prefer the blue and white also, but that pink flower throws it off somehow. If you did use both checks, I would use more of the blue and white, less of the red and white. Oh well, that’s for you to decide, Jeanne, and you always come up with the perfect solution!

Yay, not so hot today! Let’s hope storms overnight won’t do too much damage. Have a wonderful Sunday!

    1. Hi Linda,
I can’t imagine how Joy sets all those kids up without them falling over like dominoes…

I didn’t use the red check…just the blue…much better… I worked on it some today and it gets cuter every day…
Today was pretty here but super windy….
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Dear Jeanne, Brian looks adorable! How wonderful that his siblings threw him a welcome home party.
Emmie will look adorable in whatever fabric you choose. Little Darlings are such sweet dolls (I admit I am biased – laugh).
This is a dolly weekend for me. Today I am visiting our local doll museum, which I do every year. Tomorrow is our doll club meeting. The presenter will be discussing Shirley Temple lookalikes.
Can we actually be halfway through May?

    1. Hi Dorothy,
I bet the Welvome Home party was s big hit, but I think they needed more cookies than that one bag.
I hope you have a fun time tomorrow and a fun time st the museum today…
Yes, sorry to say but May is MORE than half over…boohoo..
      Thanks Dorothy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. How awful if you didn’t share Joy’s pictures — but that would never happen. Sharing is one of your many good qualities. The dolls are so cute and they show to advantage on that porch. Many thanks, Joy.
Emmie definitely needs an outfit and the print is perfect on her. Tomorrow is Sunday — I guess we’ll have to wait a day for the next stage.
The weather here looks lovely, but it’s Colorado so you never know what the next hour will bring.

    1. Hi Msrilyn,
I worked on Emmie’s dress today so I’ll definitely have something to share next time…
      Yay!!
I hope your weather stayed nice…ors was windy but nice!
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Joy has a whole family of Meadows! I had no idea. And they are all dressed so adorably. Do you do all the sewing, Joy, or do you make some and buy some? That was quite a “Welcome Home” party. It’s nice Nicco has another boy to hang out with. Since there is not room for two in the plane, maybe they can take turns.

How funny. Most people did not like the red but that’s my favorite, especially with the red bow. But the blue is pretty also. They both give totally different looks. Maybe make one of each. I love seeing what you make for the Little Darlings. I just completed two summer frocks for my Claire and Fallon. They always look so adorable in anything put on them. I told you I didn’t like Fallon’s hair as much as I thought I would. Well her wig came off the other day while I was dressing her and when I put it back on I adjusted it some and now I like it just fine. I don’t know exactly what I did but whatever it was it worked.

Dorothy in PA enjoy your dolly weekend. Sounds like a lot of fun. Wish I could join you. We don’t have much “dolly” going on in this area. I’d love to hear the discussion on Shirley Temple lookalikes. I have an 8″ Shirley and a “Baby Take a Bow” collectors doll that’s about 9 1/2″, but I don’t have one of the bigger Shirleys.

Looks like this is going to be the last of our lovely spring weather here in southeast Texas. After our rainstorm goes through tonight the weather will be turning hot and more humid than it’s been. Hot right now is about 88 to 91 but once we hit the 90s, 100 is not far behind – and then there’s the humidity. Air you can wear for many months to come. With the exception of two weeks in western Colorado, there will be no reprieve until probably November.

    1. Hi Barbara,
Yes, Joy certainly does have a wonderful Meadow family. I know she has so much fun with them.
Sometimes the change of a wig makes all the difference in the world…glad it worked for you.
Oh the good old humidity…I can certainly relate to you on that…ours is just around the corner…
      Thanks Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. You know, I really like that fabric print. I’d like to see more of it and less of the checks. Maybe a simple bit of check on the bias around the hem? and a satin ribbon at the waist? I’m not a fan of the red checked ribbon or the flowers. Detracts from the pretty fabric. Unless, the top is a blouse worn with checked shorts. That would be cute. And then maybe a narrow checked headband to match? 🙂
My photos seem to be hogging the blog again. Sorry everyone, but these kids are just so much fun and love to pose. 🙂
I forgot. Does anyone have an epiphyllum? I’ve found that we have one that was my mother in laws, and I’m not sure of the requirements for it. It has a huge bloom starting.
Have a wonderful weekend. Yet more rain is expected this morning and continuing all next week. My poor roses are not happy.

    1. Another thought. What about the dress top attached to checked shorts and then a flowered over skirt with buttons down the front over it. Kind of the 40’s style? Not too long of a skirt though. 🙂

      1. Hi Joy,
Well, you might have just gotten your wish on the dress…I just won’t tell you what part…:o)
I don’t have one of those flowers but I saw one on Facebook in full bloom and it was incredible!!!
Dont worry about too many pics of your kiddos…we can’t get enough… :o)
        Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Joy, your little dolls are adorable! I am in LOVE. I may have to go online window shopping. For the longest time I had no interest in boy dolls. Then I started seeing some cute customized boys. I currently have an AG doll with a chopped off wig that will eventually be my boy. One day when I was sorting through my fabric stash, I came upon some pieces left over from cute things I made my son. That’s when a light bulb went on! I’m going to customize my doll to “look” like my son!
Jeanne, if it’s still open for debate, I choose the blue gingham.

    1. Hi Jillaurellia,
There are some really cute customized boy dolls out there now…I hope you get brave and turn your doll into your son…be sure and take some pictures before and after…we’d love to see what you create…
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Great to see all of Joy’s dolls. I like the blue for accents to match her eyes. Maybe piping at the waist and sleeves. Just a thought as I know whatever you do will look great. Thanks again, Joy, for the pictures.

    1. Hi Susette,
Well, I won’t give too much away, but the blue won out over the red!! :o)
      Thanks Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Absolutely love that floral print and either check would be ok….and like Joy less check and more floral. How do you decide with all of us throwing ideas at you?
Joy your Meadow family is amazing…the patience you have for setting them all up to photograph must be endless. Seems like I set one up and 2 more fall down…lol
    Enjoy your nice weekend.

    1. Hi Kathie,
I listened to you all and did more floral and less check…you’ll see… :o)
Isn’t Joy’s Meadow family grand???I just adore her pictures.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Thank you Joy for my morning smile, they are so cute. How could anyone start a day in a bad mood with all those little faces smiling at you, and all dressed so cute! Thanks Joy and Jeanne for sharing.
I’m voting blue, as a border or ruffle or bloomer type shorts or pockets, you do so many different looks I can’t wait to see. Maybe a sun hat using both fabrics, hm . . well gotta go have that urge to sew,

    1. Hi Dorothy,
Well you got one of your wishes for Emmie’s dress…I just can’t tell you which part yet! :o)
I hope you got some seeing done today…I did!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. Just wanted to add for Joy that I love the rompers with the bunny ears and face, thanks again for sharing.

  12. Congrats on your new doll, Joy. I had no idea you had so many Meadows either. He is really cute and I love his aviator outfit and airplane. It’s so much fun to see other’s collections.
Emmie’s new dress to be is very cute. I absolutely love the flowered fabric, lots of pretty summery colors/ I’m going to take the position that the whole dress should be made in the flowered fabric with a ruffle at the bottom. You could make a sweet pinafore style apron out of the blue check to wear or not wear over it.

    1. Hi Laura,
I knew Joy had quite a few Meadow dolls, but seeing them all together was really really fun!
Well, I can’t tell you very much, but I did use more of the floral print to finish the dress…
I’ll have more to show on Monday.
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  13. How about a tiered skirt using all three colors trimmed with the floral or a solid color, or cream with a tulle overskirt with flower petals floating between 2 layers?

    1. Hi Christal,
I almost did a tiered dress…I had several back in high school and they were favorites of mine.
I hope you’ll like the finished dress.
      Blessings, Jeanne
