Calling all Little Darlings…Valentine’s Day is sooner than you think…

I think I’m over the hump with this dress…it went together pretty quickly…that is “AFTER” I redid the sleeves and added those headers.

5 snaps were sewn on the back and then decorated with some tiny red and white polka dot buttons. I thought that gave it a bit of whimsy! (The bottom edges in the back are even…its just the angle of my camera that makes it look uneven.)

I ran some embroidery floss through the beading on the Swiss Batiste to showcase the lace scallops a little better.

Isabelle didn’t make it to the Dolly Toy box yet but she did find a pair of white shoes that she wanted to wear with her new dress.

I hope you have a wonderful Saturday… it’s too soon to tell but we may have missed the ice and snow…it looks like just rain for us…we’ll see!

See you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne

That dress is just Perfect on Isabelle! Can’t wait to see what else you will add, as to props, etc.!

  2. What a darling dress that is perfectly timeless, Jeanne! Everything about it is as sweet as Isabelle herself, and I love how the threading does add to the lace scallops and gives it a special look without being to overdone! Just perfect!

I didn’t comment yesterday, since the day before I had 3 comments due to the problems I had in posting. I will see if this goes through.

It is raining here now, but sometime this morning, around 10 or so, we will be getting sleet, and snow, then all snow. I think you are too far south to get a lot of snow, even though you aren’t that far away from me!

    1. Hi Linda,
It’s a perfect “little girl” dress, isn’t it? Isabelle and I like it very much…glad you do too.

Well, I thought we were going to miss all the snow, but guess not… think we’ll play it safe and stay put. We’re supposed to get 3-6″ of snow and 8″ in places, before midnight. We probably already have 3″. We got sleet first so that’s underneath. The wind is blowing 25-40 mph so when those sleet pellets hit our face earlier, we knew it!

      Stay safe and warm Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. Oh, what a wonderful photo! It’s beautiful! 5 inches is lovely. Our cabin, hopefully has about 5-7 feet. Great for skiing and the water supply for summer. Hope the chickens have a heater in their coop. 🙂 Burr…

      2. Oh boy, did the weathermen get it wrong! We got nothing but a dusting of snow and you got the brunt of it! Actually, when it was snowing, it was going sideways from west to east, so I guess our snow blew over to you!! Yes, it WAS cold, and windy here, but just no snow to speak of. That’s quite alright, we got our share last week! Now your turn!! Stay in and warm, Jeanne!!!

  3. Aw, Isabelle is so special in the new dress. “Can I keep it Mom?” “NO!” Well, I tried, but I knew I’d be back in my undies. 🙂 I think she would be adorable holding an over sized red Valentine in the photo shoot. Everyone would be wondering about her special sweetie. 🙂 And those buttons with the dots are so perfect. Just the right amount of charm.
I’ll be thinking of Linda in the sleet and snow this morning. Rain is about over here and this coming week is predicted to be sunny everyday! Yay.

    1. Hi Joy,
I think you have that conversation from Isabelle just about right!! She probably does need a Valentine card from some boy… just for fun.
Look at the picture on Linda’s comment…the weatherman got it wrong for us…its pretty awful out there…
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Such a sweet dress! I love the red floss laced through the eyelet..perfect custom touch!
    Congratulations on another winning design!

    1. Thank you Shara,
I appreciate your kind compliments on Isabelle’s new dress
..not to get all the rest for it finushed.
      Thank you so much
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Hi Jeanne,
I just wanted to pop on and say hello.. I’m taking a painting break, this project is taking forever to finish, sigh! I’m really loving this sweet little red dress … looks adorable on Isabelle. I wonder how it might look on a blonde LD? Glad to hear there’s no more snow in your forecast. Unfortunately we are looking at snow for the next 2 days. It’s bitter cold out today, -18 degrees brrr. Good time to stay indoors and paint I guess. Have a wonderful weekend!
    Hugs
    Ingrid

    1. Hi Ingrid,
I’m right there with you on “this project is taking forever ” …one of these days we’ll both be finished…yay!!
Thanks for your sweet compliments about Isabelle’s dress.
I was wrong about not getting any bad westher… it’s been like a blizzard all afternoon and the snow is about 5″ deep..
Oops, Mr. Weatherman. In his defense, we WERE right on the line and it could have gone either way…
Lookup at the comment I sent to Linda. I posted a picture of the gazebo today.

      Thanks Ingrid,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. It’s been a really busy week and I’m catching up. Isabelle looks adorable in her floral Valentine dress. I love the little puffed sleeves and the polka dot buttons. Thank you for the tutorial about the sleeve headers. They really make a difference. The floss through the bodice is a perfect way to highlight it. That seems to be your signature style and an easy way to recognize your work. *smiles* I think Isabelle needs a little red puppy from the toy box, if you happen to have one. As Charlotte said,I can’t wait to see the props either. A Valentine’s tea party seems to be in order. Ingrid is right, you should have Janie try it on as well.
We got a heavy dusting of snow this morning about 8:30 and then nothing, so I was really hopeful that the worst would bypass us completely. Now the ice has moved in and everything is glazed and super slick.. Have to see if church is possible tomorrow as we drive about 30 minutes to get there.

    1. Thank you Laura,
I bet you might have snow by now…I then it was slow moving across the midwest. W didnt think we were going to get anything but maybe some rain…uhhhh… wrong…sleet, rain and about 5″ of snow. I posted a picture up under Linda’s comments.
Thank you for the sweet words you shared about Isabelle’s dress. I need to see how I’m going to finish it…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Dear Jeanne, oh Isabelle is adorable. She is definitely the queen of the Little Darlings (well, maybe the princess) in that dress. I see her holding a card that says “be my Valentine.”

    1. Hi Dorothy,
Thank you very much for thinking Isabelle looks like a queen…or even a princess.
Okay…now I have several ladies who think a Valentine card is in order…hmmm

      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne
