The shoe cobbler is at it again…

I think it’s written “somewhere” that you can’t actually call yourself a shoe cobbler unless you have made at least a dozen pair of shoes… Well, I just hit my 12th pair tonight. (Actually if the truth be told, I’ve probably made 25 pairs, it’s just that they are in the trash!) …and I’m not kidding!

I don’t think you can possibly understand why I am making these tiny 1″ shoes when I get a few free minutes… (or hours sometimes!) unless you have one of these little Twinkles dolls by My Meadow… Navi is only 6 1/2″ tall and she has me wrapped around her little finger BIG TIME! She is absolutely addicting to sew for! I kind of liken her to being addicted to chocolate, or Cheetos, or Lay’s potato chips! You just want to keep making things for her.

In my case it’s making shoes for her. I know I can make the dresses and jackets and hats for her no problem, but I’m still tweaking my pattern for her shoes. I HAVE to get this figured out! I WANT to get this figured out!

So I have some new shoes to show you… but first a shot of the mess by my sewing machine… there are scraps and pattern pieces everywhere. I can’t show you the floor and don’t even think about looking at my trash can… it’s overflowing!

Here they are… all 11 pair. (Navi is wearing the glitter pair with her gold dress.)

If you think Navi looks distressed, it’s because she thought I was going to make her try on all the shoes and show you. I instead told her I’d give her the quarter if she’d just pose in the picture so you all could see her again! :o) She was okay with that.

Well, that’s it for this Saturday post. I hope you have your stretch lace and tulle ready… We’ll begin our Slip Sew-A-Long Monday! Hope to see you in Class!

See you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne

Wow, that is a lot of shoes, Jeanne! But they all look so pretty!!

I’m a shoe person. When you have tiny feet like I have, and have some fitting issues, also, shoes bcome Very important, because very few actually work for me. Plus, I sew a lot of my clothes, so instead of buying clothes, I buy shoes! Well, not as often as I used to, but still….

It’s probably just as well I don’t have one of these Dimples dolls, or I’d be obsessing over shoes for her, too! LOL I recently bought two pairs for my Boneka doll (Nyla). I can’t begin to tell you how many pairs I have for my Little Darlings, and my American Girl dolls!!

Definitely a shoe person….and it sounds like you are, too!

    1. HI Charlotte,
Thanks for the compliments on my shoes, Charlotte. I’ve still been working at getting them
      “just right!”
You WOULD be obsessing like I am, I know you would be…
My other girls have quite a few pairs of shoes too… I plan to see most of Navi’s as soon as I feel I have a handle on them.
I have to weed out my shoes pretty often…or my closet would be over run with them.
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Well, if Charlotte is a shoe person, I’m not! Oh my goodness, Jeanne, trying to find a pair of shoes for me is like pulling teeth! My shoe size (10, most of the time), foot problems, and plain just not finding what I like in my size is not fun at all!

But my dolls! They have so many shoes that I have forgotten what goes with what, or what I even have! Those tiny shoes are just adorable, and I can see why you love to make them for Navi. I don’t think I could do tiny work like that comfortably and really make something that would look half way decent! Navi is going to need a little shoe cabinet for sure! She certainly has a pair for every occasion!

Have a good Saturday and Sunday!

    1. HI Linda,
You sound like Rebecca.. she wears an 11 and it’s almost impossible to find anything cute. She did just find an adorable pair of short black suede boots that made her foot look kind of small. She was thrilled. She got them from Zulily.

I think I’ll do a post with all of her shoes sometime… well, not HER shoes, but the ones I plan to sell… I could sort of introduce them that way…
Thanks Linda… My day has been good so far… hope yours has been too.
It’s supposed to be rainy tomorrow. :o(
      Blessings, Jeanne

I would love to have a little bit of that extra foot length! e LOL The other day, my girlfriend guessed I wore a size 4. I told her, I WISH!! Try a 1-1/2 or 2!! Thank goodness for Cinderella Shoes! (yes, it’s a real place!)

  3. Oh, you have been busy! I’m sure Navi is excited to see all of the foot ware. I am being very organized with the Twinkle shoes. They are so small. I found these great little divided boxes, very inexpensive, at Joann’s that have a locking clip on one end and hinge on the other. They stack and are about 6″ x 2 1/2″. Since they are clear, I can see all of the colors/styles at a glance. Quite amazing how fast they fill up too. 🙂
Ready to roll for the Amazing Slip Assemblage.

    1. HI Joy,
I bought one of those little locking boxes for my hubby from Joann’s. He used it to put his drill bits in…It’s nice that it snaps shut so there’s no chance of it springing open.
I’m getting ready for the sew a long too! I’ll see you Monday morning!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. The shoes are wonderful. Now when you want to make a Navi dress, you can start with the shoes. I have chosen the brown ones in front of the silver ones as your next inspiration, knowing very well that you’ll choose whatever inspires you instead of what I think should inspire you. This is good because if all 400 of us started telling you what we thought you should do next, you would have a very bad headache.
We are having rain, clouds, sun — weather indecision day. It’s a great day to complete that long mail-in ballot. If we didn’t have mail-in capacity, the lines would be extremely long because of all the issues and candidates, even if voters came prepared. There are ballot drop off places or I can mail my ballot in, but even with 3 days, I think the drop off will be safer.
    Stay warm, dry, and well.

    1. Thank you Marilyn,
I’m glad you like my shoes for Navi. She does too, and she thinks they are all for her, but I’m pretty sure I’m going to sell them…I hope I get some buyers…if not…them she can keep them.

I voted early to avoid the lines…in fact, I took momma and helped her vote.
We are supposed to get lots of rain tomorrow and the next 2 days after that…our ground is already soaked.
      Good for sewing!!!
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Dear Jeanne, yes, you are officially a cobbler! You may have to join the union now (laugh).

Navi’s shoes are adorable. I think you should give the quarter to the shoe model though. She certainly earned it (chuckle).

I will be a cheerleader for the sewing project as I am an un-crafty person.

    1. HI Dorothy,
Ok…you can be the “head cheerleader” for the sewers who will be participating! Cheer them on!!
I’m glad you enjoyed seeing the shoes for Navi! She got the quarter!!! Don’t know what she’ll do with it, but she put it under her pillow!
      Thanks Dorothy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. That’s an amazing collection of shoes. You truly do qualify as a cobbler now. How do you cut out the soles, with an Exact-O knife? It takes a lot of strength to do that and get it right. I admire your tenacity. What a wonderful collection! Have fun with the Sew-Along.

    1. HI Susette,
I draw lots and lots of shoes on the back side of black adhesive felt. Then I peel and stick a few layers together.
Tenacity? Might be craziness…but I kind of enjoy it…
      Thanks Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. No wonder I had so much trouble. I used some kind of heavy stuff that needed to be cut out with an Exact-O knife. It was very hard to do. Adhesive felt has got to be easier and probably is cut with plain old scissors. Yikes! I’ll try shoes again. Thanks for one of the cobbler’s top secrets.
