A post all about Cindy…and her decorating style…

My sister has style… decorating style! She might have fashion style too, but I’m “stuck” on her decorating style the most! I shared yesterday (HERE) how she helped me decorate my mantle with the few things I had. She didn’t do it in person, but long distance, using our phones and texting… It took a long time and my “junk” isn’t nearly as “fun” as her junk… you’ll see below what I mean. I’m going to let this post be all about her and hopefully you’ll enjoy the pictures….and if you have any questions… ask her…she reads my blog every day! She’s a fabulous decorator and changes things up quite often… you’ll see some duplicate pieces done a few different ways…

So enjoy…and don’t forget to click on the pictures so they will enlarge!!

My nephew, Dylan, made this corner cabinet for her and it’s exquisite… he is a fantastic cabinet maker…AND MORE! He got the decorating genes too!

This buffet was chalk painted by Cindy and I love it. The transom window on the wall is so unique. She painted the E in the middle of it… Isn’t it elegant for her dining room?

This piece was painted by Cindy and houses her TV in their family room.

Isn’t she good????

Here is a close up of that corner shelf…

The buffet again, with different stuff on top… (unlike me who settles on something and leaves it alone… never changing it…)

Here is another cabinet…

We got to talking about kitchen stuff and she sent me this picture of what’s beside her stove… *sigh* again…

This is another display using her corner cabinet…She also did the water color paintings on either side of the cabinet. Yes…she paints too!

…a couple more pictures… just because…

…and the latest thing she has been working on is a gallery wall…

So, it’s pretty clear to me who got the decorating genes in our family… both my sisters and their kids… seriously, I’m not kidding. Maybe I can still sign up for “Summer Classes on Home Decorating” just in time to switch out my mantle to something “Fallish!” Just kidding… I’ll just call Cindy again!

Thanks Cindy, I’m sure your pictures will be a big hit today!

See you when I can,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Wow, Jeanne your not kidding about her talent. Also want to comment on the cabinet Dylan made. Her home and the way she has styled it is oh so beautiful.

    1. HI Lynn,
See why I asked for her help? She really does know her stuff…Dylan too. They love to go to antique shows and exhibits together…Dylan is just as,talented as she is!
      Thanks Lynn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Oh gosh, Jeanne, Cindy has immense talent—–and the stuff to use it with! Goodness gracious, that cabinet Dylan made, is he a master craftsman? That is gorgeous and does he take orders?? 😉
I love the way she fixes up the buffet in different ways, and want to know where does she store all the things she isn’t using? That’s my problem! Oh, I love the things she has beside her stove! They are all useful, but arranged so artistically! I could go on and on about each picture, but I would be on here all day! Maybe she could start a decorating blog!! (How about it Cindy????)
Her home looks like a beautiful two story in the Federal style, so popular in the east. What does it look like on the outside? You have me very intrigued!

    1. HI Linda,
Cindys house is very pretty and she does have lots of things to work with. There is a Mission close to her house and she goes there a couple of times a week to see what new “stuff” has been brought in. That’s how she is able to change her stuff around so often. She has a basement that looks almost like a store rhst she swaps things out from time to time.
She also has a booth at an Antique Mall called Yesteryear. Sometimes…many times, she buys things and resells them after she’s painted them.
Dylan IS a master craftsman and has done some beautiful work in the places he’s owned and in the house he and his wife live in now.

She does live in a big white 2 story home with columns on the front side. I think of it as Colonial but I do remember one time she painted her foyer and I think the color was called Federalist Gold…
She’s bringing me some stuff in a box to help me with my decorating! I can’t wait!
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Cindy is certainly the accessory queen . Every piece is well thought out. ! Your nephew did a magnificent job on that corner wall hung curio.. I can see all the hours he spent in the beautiful details:)
YOUR talent is in the sewing room, Jeannie…fabrics and trims come to life under your fingers! I have never seen one if your designs that I wouldn’t be thrilled to own!

You, Cindy, and Debbie are all talented in your own ways !❤️❤️

    1. HI Shara,
Well, she certainly has more accessories than I do. But she’s bringing me some of my own! Yay!
It’s fun to belong to a family where everyone has something different to contribute! We have a lot of fun when we’re all together.
      Thanks Shara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Creativity certainly runs deep in your family! Your talents with needle and thread are renown. And your sister’s keen eye for placement superb.
Thank you Jeanne for sharing the great photos today. I’ve spotted several things that may work here for us. We are not lacking in decorating items, but like Linda, the storage problem, and for us, remembering where an item may be lurking.
Like Cindy, I have a pitcher collection, mostly in white. The way you have them displayed in the special corner cabinet is such a wonder. I’m not sure what the pieces in the first photo are called. Maybe luster ware? But, they too look lovely. It is especially eye catching with the cabinet center painted white. I had not realized that everything would show up so well without having a mirrored back. Unfortunately, out here in California, everything has to be behind doors in cabinets bolted to the wall and stuck down with special wax as a precaution. You know, those pesky earthquakes.
Just looking at what you have displayed so beautifully in the smaller curios gives me inspiration. So tasteful. And your crocks look perfect on that under table shelf. I believe this has just inspired us. We have an old post office table that we are about to operate on that would work perfectly to house the crocks. Down low, but still distinctly visible. I could go on and on.
Thanks Jeanne and Cindy for such a fun post today.

    1. Thank you Joy!
We both make money doing what we,love…I make and sell clothes and she finds furniture and other things to fix and resell at her booth.

I’m glad you might have been inspired to do something with what you’ve got. You’ll have to send pictures if you make up something from your goodies. I had to smile when you told about having to pretty much bolt everthING down because of earthquakes. :o/

That is Luster Ware you see…good eye!
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Lovely. Simply lovely. It must be wonderful to live in such a beautiful home.
I enjoyed the photos and descriptions very much.
Hope you have a good day!
    Take care —

    1. HI Charlotte,
I’m so glad you enjoyed Cindy’s pictures…she does have a very pretty home, but it’s not stuffy or formal or uncomfortable to be in…she’s as homey as her house! Everyone feels wonderfully welcome there and she has family and friends over all the time.
She has mastered the art of hospitality very well!
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Wow, I am in love with both corner cabinets. I have a little corner knick knack shelf that my grandfather made that is in my bedroom and holds a few special momentos. I really think small corner cabinets showcase things so well.
Cindy’s home is lovely. I second Linda in wanting to know what the outside looks like. I would have guessed Federal style as well and I see you mentioned columns which I would have assumed. I enjoyed seeing all of Cindy’s arrangements. She has a lot of nice items that can be used in many different ways.
Yes, you and each of your sisters have your own God-given talent.

    1. HI Laura,
I’m glad you enjoyed the short tour of Cindy”s furniture and how she decorates. It’s always fun for me to see the pieces she finds and whether she decides to keep them or fix them up to sell.
I couldn’t find a picture of the outside of her house, but when she gets here tomorrow I’ll see if she has one on her phone to share…
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. I really like the little corner cabinet Dylan made. That is so pretty it would look good hanging on the wall with nothing at all in it. Maybe you need to keep an eye out for some architectural-type things when you are out shopping at antique stores. They really do add an element of interest to the collections. I’m sure Cindy will get you all fixed up when she comes for a visit.

    1. HI Carolyn,
Cindy is bringing me some “stuff” tomorrow and I’ve already asked her to help me if we go shopping to know what to look for…
I know I need bigger things not so many little things…but that’s all I’ve learned.
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Dorothy in PA

Dear Jeanne, oh my goodness, the photos are lovely! My favorite is the one with the angel in the frame. Cindy is definitely talented. Her paintings are stunning.

    1. Thanks Dorothy,
I like that angel in the frame too… the painting on the left is one she did of the town square in Middlebury VT when they lived there. I think they made prints to sell but I can’t remember…
      Glad you enjoyed the pictures.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Wow I thought I was looking at pages straight out of House Beautiful. Love each and every photo. So very well done. Thank you Cindy for sharing your lovely home and decorating talents!

    1. HI Ingrid,
I think of a magazine every time I see a picture of her house too. She knows how to decorate on “the cheap” but make it look so elegant.
I am so blessed to have her talent at my fingertips. I hope to learn a lot from her this time she visits…
      Thanks Ingrid,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. I finally got a minute to read these last two posts- why? Because I too have been going through our decorations keeping them for consideration or collecting them for a big animal group’s yard sale. I’m uncluttering!
But how I loved seeing your mantel come together and seeing Cindy’s beautiful arrangements. All of her choices and designing is superb!! What fun posts!

So glad to hear George is feeling somewhat better.

    1. HI Paula,
Just think how wonderful it’s going to be when you get everything all sorted out…I know how much you love to be organized.
So glad you enjoyed Cindy’s pictures…
She’s on her way…somewhere in West Virginia.
      Thanks Paula…
      Blessings. Jeanne

  11. That was such a breath of fresh air….to see her decorating in the styles I have always loved. So do you call it Federal…? It’s too sophisticated to be called country. I had fun items that appeal to both of you when we lived in afarmhouse as old as yours. Now we are in a MCM ranch that doesn’t work with vintage anything.
Keep the pictures coming of what she does with your house! Nice to know things are better….you can even tell you are more at ease in your comments.
    Hugs,
