A Saturday Surprise from Susette…

We are still helping out at my sister in law’s house in Missouri, so I’m using some pictures that Susette sent me quite a while back. She lives in California and has an outdoor patio that is about 28′ x 12′. Big enough to have some wonderful little garden houses decorating the space. She has done a really nice job of arranging them and told me she actually has about 18 of the houses. I wanted to show you some of them…Thanks Susette, for bailing me out again with something I could use for a post! :o)

Here is the House of Beauty…notice the lipstick for the chimney!

This is the Mushroom Garden…

Here is a Chinese Restaurant, by Heather Goldminc…

Next we have some monkeys in the Panda Garden…

Here is a sweet English Cottage Garden…

This is the Burgundy Garden Castle…

Susette even sent me my very own Love Cottage! I found a spot for it in my blue cabinet!

I hope these made your Saturday a little more fun! Thanks Susette!

See you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. I love those tiny, detailed buildings and the way Susette has planted all the greenery around them! The do look like a fairy garden and it must be a magical view out her patio doors! Each one is beautifully arranged in it’s container, and each one has something “special” about it!
For a minute there, I thought the lipstick on the House of Beauty was real, since it looks just like mine (Revlon)! The English Garden Cottage looks so inviting, and the pathway to the Burgundy Garden Castle gives it a fairy tale look, with the glistening stones beckoning you in! I mean, every little cottage is completely different from the others, and you can’t stop looking! Wonderful work, Susette!

That was so sweet for her to remember you when she gave you a Love Cottage! Maybe you need a few artificial flowers around it to keep it company?

So now you were in Rolla! We go through there all the time! We keep missing each other! Have a good Sunday, Jeanne, and I’m sure you all will be very happy when you do finally leave to see what has all been accomplished.

    1. Hi Linda,
We are on our way home and almost to Jackson, MO. I think we are stopping at Bucheits for a pit stop.
Yes, I agree, Susette has quite the green thumb for placing her houses in just the right way and decorating around them.
We were in Rolla last night…at Lowe’s for trim. One of these days we’ll cross paths!
There was SO much more we could have helped Gloria with, but the bathroom was what she wanted our help with.
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. I didn’t realize you had written two posts, so I was excited to find them today. I love Addy’s dress and the sweet picture of Rebecca opening her American Girl doll. Rebecca was a little doll too.
Sounds like you’re moving right along at Gloria’s house. Accomplishments are powerful in helping us realize our own strength and perseverance. Blessings to all of you today!!
Suzette, your little garden houses are adorable and so creative. One could spend a long time looking them and how you decorated around each house. Your patio area must be such a joy to sit and relax in.

Jeanne, the house Suzette sent you looks so nice in your blue cabinet. I like looking at all of your pieces. The arrangement is wonderful and the blue cabinet perfect foe displaying them in.

Enjoy your day – like my dear mother -in – law use to say, ” Many hands make the work lighter.”

    1. Thank you Paula,
It was very enjoyable to spend some time with Gloria and it did make the work seem more fun. We laughed our heads off several times each day…and even found time to go out to eat twice.
It was sad to go but Gloria kidded George and told him she’d see him again when and if she moved!
      Thanks Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Thanks for the honor and pleasure of contributing to your wonderful blog. I so look forward to starting my morning with all your happenings, sewing tips and beautiful pictures of the dolls, redecorating and daily happenings. Thanks for sharing so much with all of us. Have a safe trip home. Thanks again for sharing the fairy gardens.

    1. Susette,
Thank YOU, Susette, for helping me out with your pictures. We decided to come to Gloria’s on such short notice, I was scrambling to get my posts written.
Rhanks for your encouraging words about my blog… I’m so glad you enjoy it.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. I do hope we get to see a photo of the finished bath at your sis in laws place. And the auction items would be fun too.
Thank you for sharing Susette’s houses. It is exactly what I needed to get going on one myself. Seeing the rock placement and plant types that work is great inspiration. I have some baby tears growing already in wait and probably a miniature juniper too. But, how to choose a house? I love all of Susette’s. Oh no, I hope they aren’t as adicting as the dollies.
Checked the map to see the location of Salem and Rolla. Should you keep going south, you would come to Howell County on the Arkansas border. Quite rural I believe. My great great grandmother homesteaded there in the late 1800’s, in South Fork, MO. My great grandmother married in Salem, AK, right across the state line. Some day, I’m going to visit and find the old homestead in South Fork.
Have a delightful ride home, and maybe there will be a few more garage sales along the way.
P.S. I bought a new hat! Well, new to me, but it is from the 1950’s. I just couldn’t resist when I saw it in the Halloween stuff at the little thrift shop near us. 🙂

    1. Hi Joy,
Well, I took a few pictutes if the bathroom and will share them, but it’s not totally finished.
George and I both had responsibilities for tomorrow so we had to leave, but I’ll share my pictures.
I was going to take pictures of the auction stuff, but I kept forgetting to take my phone down to the shop with me. It was all “guy” stuff, Joy…well, tools, parts, lawn mowers, cans of screws, etc…that kind of stuff.
Well, wasn’t that fun…I shared Susette’s little houses and now you want some….hope you find the perfect one for starters…
Well, no garage sales on rhe way home, but we are stopping at a farm store in a few minutes…

Oh…congrats on your new hat! :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. It really is wonderful of you to keep up the blog no matter where you are or how much you are doing.

The sun is out here — 2 encouraging things — the blog and the sun. Now and then there’s fog — the temperatures of air and ground are so different that for a few minutes everything will be misty, and then the sun returns — the wet leaves were so pretty, sparkling in the sunshine, but they are dry now and it’s time to get to the farmers’ market while there’s still a good selection. Maybe I could make more of Linda’s cucumbers — they taste like fall.

Don’t you love Susette’s houses? I’m trying to decide whether I like the English cottage or the Chinese Restaurant better. I especially like the red “tree” and the black stone — pumice? — at the restaurant. Really, they are all landscaped so beautifully that I’d take any or all of them. If you do an Ebay search on Heather Goldminc you find over 1500 things to choose from, not all houses and many related to Halloween.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
I guess I don’t want to disappoint anyone so I just try my best to keep a post going no matter where I am or what is happening. Thanks so much!
Yes, Linda’s pickles are the greatest and I hope you found some cucumbers.
I think Susette does a great job on her little houses…it was my pleasure to share them.
      Thank you Marilyn,
It’s always a,pleasure to hear how things are in Colorado.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Those little gardens are cute and look like they would be fun to make. I found myself looking at the plants in them several times. They are so colorful and unique. I don’t think I could grow one successfully but it’s fun to think about!

    1. Hi Carolyn,
I really don’t have much of a green thumb, either, but Susette sure does. I’ll leave the house gardens to her!
      Thanks Carolyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne
