~ Pretty as a Picture ~ Little Darling dress revealed…

PLEASE NOTE:
I added something new on my right side bar. You can now see my last 10 posts at a glance. If you missed one, you can easily click on it instead of scrolling down through all the other ones.

I hope I have this right, but I’m pretty sure Anne mentioned it… “Pretty as a Picture” that is… As soon as she mentioned it in passing, I knew it was going to be the name of Isabelle’s red and pink dress. I think it fits this set perfectly!

I was going to give you some “teaser” pictures today, but I decided to be nice and show you the dress in all its glory! The only bad thing is my camera just could not capture how truly pretty this pink and red are together. The hat is pretty much a bubblegum pink and that matches the pink in the dress perfectly. Maybe it’s a good thing because if the winner thinks these pictures are nice, they’ll be thrilled when they open their box and see it in person…

Let’s start with the unders… the thigh highs first…made from a pretty white stretch knit…

[If you click on my pictures they will enlarge.]

Then Isabelle has on a pretty pink tulle slip… it’s just what this dress needed to hold it out a little bit.

When Isabelle put on the dress, she could not stop looking in the mirror… she liked the embroidery work on the front bodice and the pink bows on the sleeves…

Here are those little red buttons in the back…

She found a sweet pink bunny (thank you Miss Susette!) in the Dolly Toy Box and knew this was what she wanted as her accessory…

She put on her hat last and twirled around on my cutting table… she told me she felt like a princess. Awww…Isabelle, I’m glad you like it so much!

Aren’t you glad I didn’t tease you today???

I’ll do my very best to get my listing on Ebay Thursday evening. I already have the pictures uploaded… I just have to do the listing part…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. “Pretty as a Picture” IS pretty as a picture, Jeanne! Oh, I love the embroidery you added to the lace, and the sweet double bow! That was just the perfect touch for the dress, and in this outfit you certainly do show off a lot of your talents. You make hats—gorgeous hats–you make darling, well fitted dresses, you embroider so well, and you make tights and slips too that accent the dresses! And you never fail to include a little something to make a little story line, not to mention your excellent photography! You do it all, Jeanne!

    1. Thank you Linda,
You are way too kind with your compliments, Linda. I would have to agree with you, this dress set certainly does show most of what I do. I almost smocked rhis dress but decided it would be too close to Lian’s pink and white dress of the year, 2016.
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. This is beyond beautiful!! It’s exactly the way a Little Darling should be dressed. (my opinion) Thank you for sharing your incredible talents and your life with us daily and congratulations to the lucky winner of this gorgeous dress. Life has changed here at our house so I don’t buy many things anymore but I’m so grateful I still get to see them.

    Blessings!!

    1. Hi Bobi,
I agree with you that it’s wonderful to see little girls, dressed like this.
It’s nice to know that you enjoy looking at my things even if you can’t buy anything. Think of it as “window shopping!”
      Thanks Bobi,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Oh ‘Pretty as a picture” is perfectly named! It is a beautiful outfit. The little touches that you always do amaze and inspire me. I am not exaggerating when I say the light green ribbon is the perfect addition with the pink ribbon. It makes all those tiny little leaves just pop. I honestly hadn’t noticed the leaves before so the ribbon is doing its job. The accessories are perfect as well. The bunny is so cute and fits so well in Isabelle’s little hands. As always I am enchanted with your under layers. Her stockings and slip are precious.
Thank you so much for sharing your work with us.
    Take care.

    1. Hi Charlotte,
It is my pleasure to share my creations with everyone each day. I’m so glad others get joy from looking at my dresses. Thank you for all your compliments!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. What a Belle is Isabelle. Love the dress and accessories.
We have sun, but heavy frost. Looks like it snowed here in CA.

    1. Hi Joy,
I like that…Isabelle is a belle! Thank you Joy!
Well frost is better than snow. Hopefully the sun has come out by now and melted it all away.
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Isabelle looks just lovely in this beautiful outfit. It is perfect in every way. The embroidery on the sash is really pretty and adds such a nice touch. I agree with all the others, your talent in making hats, the embroidery and the other added touches make your outfits so special.
Wonder if you’ll have a little story for Isabelle?
I like the name you’ve given the outfit too.

    1. Thank you Paula,
I’m so glad that everyone likes Isabelle’s dress set. I have an idea for her storyline but we’ll have to see.
Thank you for your sweet compliments.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Ohh Jeanne! Sooo beautiful! Wow the hat makes this ensemble so special. I think you should add hats to your etsy shop 😉
Hope you have a lovely day
    Hugs
    Ingrid

    1. Thank you for your kind words on Isabelle’s new dress set. I’m glad Chloe arrived and yes, doesn’t she smell wonderful?
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. What a masterpiece this is, Jeanne! I think it belongs on the cover of your forth-coming book. ;o ) From the “unders” on out, Isabelle’s ensemble is just perfection! The embroidery work is exquisite, and the pretty puff sleeves are so sweet with the heirloom lace trim and tiny pink bows. (Did you use your special trick to make them puff up so nicely?). This work of art makes me impatient for the arrival of my own little darling, expected in May, and I can only wish for her to be so beautifully dressed in a Jeanne Marie original some day. Thank you for creating the stuff of my dreams, and bless you for this “feast for the eyes” today!

    1. Hi Anne,
I just read your line about this dress being on the cover of my “book” to George. He smiled…
      What a nice compliment, Anne!
Thank you for making my evening!
Actually the sleeves have enough gathers to stand up on their own.
Ooooo a new Little Darling in May…it won’t be too much longer!
Thank you so much Anne, for your very gracious compliments on Isabelle’s dress.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. I sometimes wonder what the AGs would look like in this style. What do you think?

I love the new list of posts. When I can’t make the top part of the blog work, like today, I can often go to the bottom and arrow up, slowly and carefully, but often only to where the recent blog entries start. Today I could reach the list of 10, and I clicked on today’s entry — amazing — it came up and I could read it and see the photos, which are darling. I think that fabric for the stockings works extremely well. We all take for granted that your slips will be perfection. The dress is exactly right and Isabelle is the ideal model for it, though you might not mention that to Janie and Lian.

After a long stream of warm weather, today we have “snow showers.” It’s actually a pretty steady storm, and the snow is now sticking to the roads after several hours of not. I went to the grocery yesterday, so I’m doing very well, with endless projects to keep me busy, a functioning furnace, stacks of books, and access to the blog. What more do I need?

    1. Hi Marilyn,
I just read your last paragraph to George and told him the computer woes you’ve been having. I’m glad the 10 posts menu worked for you.
I think AG needs some pretty dresses for their girls. There are plenty of ladies making and selling modern clothing..how about some pretty girly dresses. Of course that’s just my preference.
I can’t believe you are getting snow…it was 72 here today. I bet we pay for this nice weather later on…
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. The dress is certainly pretty and Isabelle is the perfect model for it. I like the last picture of her holding the hat–she looks so demure! I also like this style of dress for the LD’s. Their delicate little features are really enhanced by a pretty, feminine style.

    1. Hi Carolyn,
I liked that last picture too and thought the same thing. I wanted to leave that same impression…guess it worked…at least for you.
      Thank you Carolyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Charlotte Trayer

Once again, Jeanne, you’ve created a beautiful ensemble any dolly would be proud to wear!!

I’m so glad you’ve put links to the last 10 posts in your sidebar–it’s something I’ve looked for on occasion, but it wasn’t there. This will make it a lot easier to go back a day or two (or several), to check something in a previous post. Thank you!

    1. Thank you Charlotte,
I’m glad Isabelle’s dress is finished…but I really enjoyed making it. Thanks for your compliments.
I don’t know why I didn’t put the last 10 posts at the side before…it was easy to do. I hope it works well for everyone.
      Blessings, Jeanne
