Some cutie pie dolls from Cindy

Hi everyone,

Enjoy the pictures…
See you tomorrow…maybe… my hubby is in the ER.

Charlotte seems to be MIA this morning, so I will start. Oh my, Jeanne, in the ER? I hope and pray things go well, and George is sent back home! My heart goes out to you both.

In the second picture, I see a Sonja Henie doll in ice skates. She is not wearing the exact costume my doll had, but there is a resemblance in the one she is wearing.

The third picture has that red book, “Baby’s Christmas”, that I actually have here in my house, and bought when Jennifer was a baby! I think I have the whole book memorized because I read it over and over to her and her brother. That book got me started on putting gingerbread boys and candy canes on our Christmas tree, and although I don’t do the gingerbread boys anymore, I STILL have the candy canes from 1971 and use them every year!

I see Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, which my children also had, and the Kewpie and Shirley Temple dolls! While I never had a Shirley Temple dolls, my sisters did, and I also had a Kewpie doll. I see lots of Madame Alexander’s which are so beautifully dressed! How I would have loved to work in their factory and designed the clothes!

Thinking and praying for you, Jeanne!🙏🏻❤️

  2. I hope George is doing okay, Jeanne. Oh my. 🙏🏼
I am continuing my most fervent prayers.

Cindy sent some cuties. I WANT all of these dolls, and that Steiff donkey too.
    What a bunch of treasures.
I hope all of you managed okay with a lot of RAIN – if you had any. We had buckets of rain.
I hope today is an easy day for George and you, Jeanne. God’s blessings to both of you.

  3. Je vous lis tous les jours,même si je ne réponds pas..! Je pense à vous et j’espère que ce sejour aux urgences,ne va pas durer … Je vous embrasse. Georgina.

  4. I enjoyed seeing Charlotte’s dolls the other day. I never got the chance to comment. Thank you for showing us those dolls you made and the stories behind them.
What fun looking through all those dolls Cindy took pictures of. I recognize some but many I don’t know. I had quite a few Madame Alexander’s but only as a collector of them when I was an adult.
I hope George gets the medical attention he needs. You are both in my thoughts and prayers.

Oh no, so sorry to hear about the ER. Wondering if it is the local one or in St. Louis? I hope that George, gets the help he needs and is comfortable.

After seeing the wonderfully displayed dolls, I wish so much that I had one of those display cabinets with the glass doors to put around here someplace. They add so much to the dolls and the furniture and accessories. Humm. Thanks Cindy and Jeanne for sharing! Now, I’m trying to think of where I might put one as I would love to display my older dolls. I have my mother’s china cabinet from the 40’s at the other house. It is very dark mahogany and I’ve never cared for the color. Not sure if the shelves would be wide enough though. I wouldn’t want to paint it, but maybe I could put white tagboard or something in there to lighten it up? There must be a way. Right now, it sits there taking up space and is not pretty at all. And I have two cabinets made by my father that aren’t much better in color either. More thinking to do.
So yesterday, other person was up on the roof at the other house checking out the work on the roof. It looks great. I handed up the hose and we put water down each downspout to make sure that they were clear. And they all worked perfectly. Want to be ready for the rain when it comes. Then, we had planned to wash the dormer window. I was in the attic and cleaned the inside and managed to remove the screen. Well sort of before it slid down the roof. Other person retrieved it for me and washed the window outside. We thought that the window was just dirty, but it turned out that it wasn’t that at all but a failed seal on the window. Now, we have to find the paperwork from when we had it installed and go from there. Anyway, I did get the screen back on and it is clean but well, foggy. I’m going to check the other windows today and see if there are any others that have failed. It has probably been ten years ago that we had them installed. With our luck, the warranty will be up.
Hope everyone had a good weekend. I got in some yardwork and the little witch hat looks good. Now, I’m making a small felt flower for it. We’ll see how that turns out.

My Hoosier was in good shape except for the back, so I cut cardboard pieces to fit the back of the display areas and covered it with solid green contact paper to contrast with the white sides. Cheap and easy, and it looks nice. Would that work for you?

  6. So sorry to hear George is in the ER. Prayers that he gets the help he needs.
It was so nice to see your dolls the other day, Charlotte.
How fun to see Cindy’s dolls.
Love the little Steiff pony and the Eloise Wilkin book. We have a stack of those -some my mom’s, some mine, and some my daughter’s.
Sweet Raggedy Ann and Andy. We have them as well.
The white first baby shoes. My mom’s are bronzed, but mine and my daughter’s are in the cedar chest.

  7. Thank you, Jeanne and Cindy for the lovely dolls! I am glad I was not there, some were so tempting! I am selling many of my dolls now and don’t need to buy any! Those dolls were set up so nicely that many looked brand new.

My company will be here tomorrow every until Friday noon. I still have more cleaning to do, and cooking so off I go.

Jeanne, I pray that the doctor has helped George!! God bless and keep you both.

Well, here I am! Last night when I checked, the blog for today wasn’t up yet, and I got so sleepy, I forgot to check again before I headed to bed. I don’t know why, but if I’m going to have a disrupted night of sleep, it’s usually Saturday night, and when I have to be up early on Sunday! So Sunday night I was really tired.

Jeanne, I am so sorry to hear that George was in the ER last night. I hope and pray it was something easily remedied. I hope you will have an update for us on the next blog or, if you prefer, private emails. In the meantime, you both continue to be in my prayers.

So nice to see these dolls again (I think some are new but I definitely recognized some of the Ginny and MA dolls). I saw the Baby’s Christmas book, too–I don’t have that one but another of hers, from when my son was little, and remember them from my own childhood, too.

And directly below that, behind one of the MA dolls, is an Annette book! I don’t have that one, but I do have another of the Annette books, which Ron found for me at a garage sale many years ago. They are real treasures, as I think there were only a few different stories written. And, of course, Annette Funicello was so popular as a Mouseketeer, and then later on, when she was making movies.

I finished my purse the other day, and will try to get some pictures to send to Jeanne shortly.

It’s a lovely sunny day again, but not very warm; temps over the weekend have stayed in the 50s, and some areas dipped into the 30s overnight! Brrr!!

    Good morning all
Jeanne I will pray for George. I pray it turns out to be nothing serious.

Only short today, I have Snowy on my lap and it is very awkward trying to type. What can you do when you have feline or canine paralysis! lol

Right, she left. Luna used to do that to me all the time. I use a separate keyboard because the laptop sits too high for me to type comfortably but if a cat decides to settle there it is impossible to use it.

Great to see Cindy’s photos, thank you Linda for telling us their different names. I wouldn’t have had a clue.

Coffee morning today and I hope to get back to my quilt later, Yesterday I quilted two borders so will try to join them today.

It is going to be very hot today 27C (80F) but by Friday it will be 11C (51F) and snow on the hills! Go figure. I never know what to wear at this time of the year. Oh well, I’ll enjoy it while I can.
Have a good day, will keep praying

I was in a nice restaurant Thursday, but it was too cold. My sister says she carries a big purse with a thin sweater in it for cold rooms. She suggested a triangular shawl — would that be an option for your between-season days, Anne? Of course, your cat would probably love to get its claws on it.

By the way, for those who live closer, Etsy has an excellent 20 screen selection of shawls.

Emergency rooms are cold. It might be a good idea for you, Jeanne, to have a bag with a shawl, maybe some warm socks, and a snack. That same sister, who is always prepared, recalls eating peanut butter crackers (politely shielded with her hand) while sitting in the tsar’s box at the Bolshoi ballet.

I’ll add my prayers to all the others from your readers/well-wishers. ER’s are not fun, but I’ve found them helpful, and George is an excellent patient. He’s smart, he never gives up, and he has excellent support.
