My hubby said it looks like the real thing…

Hi everyone and welcome this Monday morning! I hope you had a nice weekend. I did… because my SISTER CAME! We’ve had fun already and I think there is more to come!

She gave me a birthday card that made me laugh… I think you will too.

Then she brought me a HUGE bag filled with all kinds of things she was getting rid of or finds from her Goodwill or Mission. I was truly blessed… jackets, sweaters, blouses, a really fun robe, 2 pair of shoes, and more. It was so much fun trying it all on! Thank you, Cindy!

Okay… now what did my hubby think looked like the real thing?

This…

Yes, Lavender is getting a brown leather book bag to go with her rose paisley jumper. I still have one more item and then I’ll show everything that is included in this set.

It is all hand stitched and has plenty of room inside for some books… which I made… (they don’t open… but are just for looks.)

When I wet molded the leather, I used paper towel strips and there must have been some sticky glue on the inside flap. I think I can get it off if I use a little water again. I don’t like the spotty look… I’ll do my best to neaten it up.

Well, that’s it for today… I have to get to bed because tomorrow we are going shopping!!!! :o)

I hope you can wait for the final pictures of this fun set! Lavender is READY to model!

I’ll see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. What a great card! I love funny cards, and my cousin Gail and I used to entertain ourselves in the stores by looking at all the funny cards together. She’d start at one end and I at the other, and show each other the funniest ones. One day another customer came up and said, “you two are having way too much fun!”

And how thoughtful of her to fill a bag with goodies for you! You are fortunate indeed to have such a thoughtful sister.

I love Lavender’s book bag, and her “books”, too! I think this will add a lot to the outfit.

By the way, I tried to reply to every comment on my dolls (thank you all!) that you shared on last Friday’s blog, if anyone wants to go back and look.

What a funny birthday card, Jeanne! However, it takes someone to really know you to be able to send something like that and feel that you don’t take it the wrong way. I always think about that before buying a funny card, but you and your sisters certainly know each other very well!

Yes, that darling book bag does look real! That will be the perfect accompaniment for the jumper set, and the little books are so cute! I recognized the Nancy Drew mystery, “ The Secret of the Old Clock” immediately, because I have that very book in my stash of childhood books that I can’t seem to get rid of! I got mine when I was 9 years old, so you just know it is an antique by now!🤣

    Have fun shopping today!

How fun that you have “The Secret of the Old Clock”! That is a great one. Now, propping it up on a stand and adding in a couple of your girls dressed in spy mode in front might be a fun scene for Halloween! 🙂

Oh you know. Like a spy type hat and a spy magnifying glass. Trench coats? Could be just dressed in black. Remember the old Clouseau movies? They were pretty funny. Or maybe they will be the bad guys with black masks. Just sounded fun. 🙂

I have the complete collection of the Nancy Drew Books I bought for my daughter. She doesn’t have room for them and I love rereading them, but most of hers are the re-writes to modernize them. I have some of the ones I read when I was young and I really like them better.

I don’t have the complete collection of anything, due to having 3 younger sisters always into my stuff!😊
My mother was not a saver of anything either, so very few of my childhood things exist. My beautiful tin dollhouse got thrown away, so about 10 years ago I bought a replica of mine on EBay and had fun furnishing it with Renwal furniture I also found on EBay.

Jeanne, I have always wanted a sister, you are so blessed, and Cindy is blessed having you for a sister. I do have 2 brothers, one younger I won’t even mention and my older brother who cares for me but not the same as a sister. I am so happy for you, and will love to read about your shopping day.
The book bag is a great addition and the books are perfect.
We are heading out today for my checkup with my pain Doc. My back is never perfect but still much better since the shot for the pinched nerve. I just hope I will never have to have that kind of shot again.
We went to see the last Downton Abbey movie yesterday. We seldom go to movies but have seen all 3 of those. At the end they showed photos from the past and I had to get out my Kleenex. I loved that series but I don’t think I could watch it all again.

    1. I think hubbs and I watched the second movie, the one with the funeral of Maggie Smith? We watched that last night on tv.
I agree. The series was fine but it is a “once and done” kind of thing
Remember way back in one of the very first episodes, some guy dies in a bed? wow, maybe I do want to watch those first episodes….

Well, I sure hope that your doctor visit went well and that you don’t need another shot for many years.

  4. Jeannie, you have a very sweet sister. Oh my gosh, you were showered with love. I am so happy you had a great week-end doing fun stuff.
The leather purse is so cute. I am looking forward to the fashion show!!

Cute bag, for Lavender. Can’t wait to see that other thing Jeanne, has in mind. And then, off to Ebay.
Yesterday, we hauled all of the old deck boards off the lower deck and around the house to the now pristine, nicely stacked woodpile. That was after taking part of the fence apart and pulling out ivy from the house next door. It got so hot that we finally had to stop working. And then, I remembered the other woodpile that is under the deck. So we need to go through that as well. But, now the lower deck is cleared and ready for a good sweep. We’ll see what today brings as whatever the chore, it will have to be early. Going to be cooking around here for the next four days I think. Might hit a hundred at some point. Ugh
I finally ordered some new leather work gloves from Amazon as they don’t have the brand I like anywhere in my size around here. Had to add in some shampoo and conditioner as well, to get that “free shipping”, so I managed to slip in a cute Halloween outfit for the Ruby Reds too. Bad me. 🙂
Sounds like Cindy brought Jeanne a nice haul. Hope that she can share some of her new stuff and that we’ll see photos from their thrifting adventures too.
    Keep cool everyone!

  6. My laptop crashed. I’ve got an appointment for some IT help on Wednesday. Hopefully I’ll be up and running later this week. Oh well, extra playtime with the kitties!!! Yay!

How awful about the computer. I keep getting the message that after October 14, they won’t update mine any more because of my computer’s age. It isn’t all that old either. Anyway, I have another, but setting it up is going to be a royal pain. Hope you can get yours fixed.

Wonderful bookbag. I can see Lavender has a very challenging curriculum. Looking forward to seeing the next item.

Sounds like you should have a fun day shopping with your sisters. It amazes me how often then can get away together. My one sister and her hubby just bought a home that needs some TLC so she is kept very busy in West Virginia and my other sister if she has free time she and her hubby take to the high seas on a cruise or some lovely destination. I’m a bit of a homebody these days so it would be good if they came here every now and then but they don’t like the climate. Bev loves WVA because of the wonderful seasonal changes, especially the upcoming Fall season. Beautiful in WVA. Beth spends her summers on the Delaware coast and winters along the Florida coast. i can’t compete with that.

I have completed all but two swimsuits for my L’il Dreamers as I write this. I hope to get the other two finished today. Then I plan on doing a swim photo shoot. Since it seems Jeanne has a lot of guests for a while, I’m hoping to send these to her as an end of summer photo shoot so she has something to post and be able to spend more time with family. I have one more week of summer in which to do this.

Great news on the swimsuit progress. Can’t wait to see the pics. I sent one to Jeanne of that dress I finally finished for the Sew Along for the Ruby Reds. I’m sure that your swim party will go swimmingly. 🙂
