HI everyone,
Things are little busy around here and my time is completely taken up with my hubby. I’m going to ask you again if you can all just share stories or what you’ve been doing or what you have planned over the summer… or anything else you want to chat about.
Thanks, and I’ll be back when I can…
Love you all,
Blessings, Jeanne
Love you and George, Jeanne. You have been in my prayers and on my mind.
I hope you are able to put your feet up next to George and just rest with him
Georgina.
I hope your husband is on the mend, Georgina! Men can sometimes be a difficult patient, so I hope yours is a good one!,
I wonder where everyone is this morning? It’s seven here and going to be another warm one I think. We hit the high eighties yesterday, so I was out sprinkling the beds several times. The zinnias are up and now a few cukes/zukes. So, today should be about the same, I think. Friday, will be the hottest with the prediction about 90. But, yesterday, we had afternoon winds that were very strong and not predicted by any weather group. I was out digging wild mint, hate that stuff, while the wind whipped. I was in the flat open area, but the wind made it tolerable temperature wise. The huge redwood trees next door were swaying and I was sure that there would be a fire starting somewhere in the county. Fortunately, we only had one fire some north of here which they got out quickly, but with heat and wind, not good. Anyway, as I was working away, I heard a snap and big thump. Nothing had fallen in our yard. When other person decided to venture outside, I asked him to check the side of the house and the fence. Nothing had fallen, so we were good. But, about 11:30 last night, I heard noises from next door. Apparently, a redwood branch had fallen earlier over there and wiped out their internet. Not the power though, so that was good. So dangerous to have redwood trees anywhere near a home.
We should be getting some work done at the other house, but with the heat, not going to happen until the fog rolls in. So, it will probably just be a walk this morning instead.
Time for Callie Cat’s breakfast. Have a wonderful day everyone, and I hope that we get an update from Jeanne on George’s progress.
Good to hear from you Joy. Yes, others must be busy, out and about.
I have an eye doc appointment this afternoon, just for an exam. I will most likely NOT be dilated because I go to a retina guy every 4 months.
Anyway, I need some new glasses and I do not want to think about it.
Meantime, I am trying to be productive. It is very warm here too, and it is getting humid. I am doing some indoor cleaning and probably going to also water the front gardens.
Hubbs might be a bit unhappy when he sees me setting up a sewing machine down here (portable White mechanical, I only have mechanical machines) because it is getting uncomfortable upstairs. The A/C can not cool upstairs sufficiently. (we are working on that)
First I need to address some other clutter piles and then I can do some sewing down here over the hot summer…. or maybe forever!
I hope everyone had a really good day
Clutter piles. I’ll bet I have more of them than you do. Bigger, too.
I want to enter this competition. I might could win. My guest bedroom is absolutely a mess. I started staging things in there for Goodwill and that is where my props are for my doll photo shoots. But since I started doing that I have been unable to physically go in and sort things out so you literally have to move things to get in the room to get to the closet where the suitcases are that everyone seems to need to get their hands on these days. Until I can get the suitcases put back together and in the closet there is no hope of trying to do the rest but I’m still not up to it. Hopefully soon but after two sessions of PT I’m feeling it may take longer than I hoped.
hahaha clutter piles. so many clutter piles.
Then, make the lists and spend 20 minutes on one clutter pile. haha how do we get through?
Clutter piles. Is this a contest? Because I bet I would win! 😂
Hope that you were able to get a new prescription without the dilation. I didn’t need that last time either, and I see my retina guy every 6-8 weeks.
Here I finally am! I just was in a rush to finish uo trimming the bushes at the entrance of the subdivision, and I just made a beeline for that while it was still cool enough to do it, because there is no shade there. So now. I am finished with that and can concentrate here.
Jeanne, I am thinking and praying for you and George, I am sure it is not easy for him. He probably has to take it easy for awhile, and taking it easy is NOT George! He is always doing something!
I wonder if Charlotte is having internet problems. I usually wait for her to come here first, but she doesn’t seem to be here yet.
I had mentioned yesterday about a good chicken recipe that I made for dinner, and several of you wanted the recipe, so here goes:
Easy Baked Chicken Breasts. (From Southern Living Cookbook)
8 chicken breast halves, skinned and boned (I usually only do four, so we can have two meals out of it., but whatever you want works)
8 slices Swiss cheese, or one piece for each chicken breast.
1 can cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soup, undiluted
1/4 cup dry white wine
1 cup herb seasoned stuffing mix (you don’t need all that for just two chicken breasts)
2 or 3 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
Parsley (optional)
Arrange chicken in a lightly greased baking dish. Top with cheese slices.
Combine soup and wine, stir well. Spoon sauce over chicken; sprinkle with stuffing mix. ( I sometimes use bread crumbs if out of stuffing mix)
Drizzle butter over crumbs; bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
Garnish with parsley.
So good with mashed potatoes, since it makes it own sauce.
I sure hope everyone has a nice day, and good to hear that Sissy is feeling better! Now where is Dorothy again?
And now to water my flowers and get in before it gets too hot outside!
Thank you for the recipe, Linda. I will be trying it with Chicken thighs, this house is dark meat only. I will let you know how it goes!
The baked chicken sounds great. Tks for the recipe.
I thought Charlotte said that she was going to have the Geek Squad do some switching things to her new computer? Maybe she is having connection problems with it? Hopefully, she will be back on soon.
And you are so kind to do all of the sprucing of the entry by yourself. Maybe your association needs a bill? Just kidding. I’ll bet that it looks so nice now.
Thanks for the recipe, Linda. It looks yummy and I’m going to make it often. Hopefully I can use the Swiss cheese because I love Swiss but I may have to switch to cheddar for hubby. Or maybe half and half.
You’re welcome, Joy, Sissy, and Barbara! I love this recipe and make it often. When I look for things to make, if it calls for 7 or 8 or more ingredients, I just skip over it. Or some exotic things that I don’t have. This is so good and once you make it, you will see how easy it is. I do like to cook, but I don’t want to spend all day cooking something!
Oh this is a great recipe. yum yum
you have done all of the work for your neighborhood!
I hope the neighbors compensate you generously for your hours of work. It was a pleasure I am sure, but also your time and energy.
Well done Linda. I bet it looks beautiful now.
Well, I am feeling better and hoping that George is too and that Jeanne is not running her self to pieces!
Peyton went to the Y for the first time since he was sick. He had told me he would call me when he was leaving the grocery store. I decided I would surprise him by fixing my self up and not look like a witch with wild hair and no make up when he got home. Well, I was using a loud thing to curl my hair and didn’t hear him call 5 times and it scared him silly! I walked out of the bathroom and saw my neighbors knocking at the door on the porch! They had been looking for me all around the house, every window and door but couldn’t find me because the bathroom has no clear window, and I hadn’t heard them either. He had called them and it scared them too, every one thinking I had fallen or fainted or something. Thank goodness for good neighbors!
Good thing that you weren’t doing something secretive eh? So nice though to have thoughtful neighbors and husband. Glad you are feeling better.
Joy, only you and I are doing secretive things🥳
🙂
Kind of a funny story in a way but what a good idea to have neighbors as a back-up, especially as we get older. My grandmother lived alone for about eight years after my grandfather passed. There was no family around so her neighbors kept an eye on her. That’s who found her when she passed away one evening while watching TV. Thankfully they checked on her every day.
Sissy 😂 this sounds like my life. lol loud hair appliances haha so funny what transpires under all of that hahaha
George is so lucky to have you, Jeanne. And he’s worth all the work. Felicity can wait on her dress — what’s done is so pretty, she won’t even mind.
I do like Felicity in her green riding outfit, but this new dress may equal that one. Speaking of pretty dresses, I got this for my niece

It has at least relatively modern fashion in the 2nd half and stunning historical dress in the first half. If you were looking for a smaller, but beautiful fashion history beginning in the 1700s, this is not bad starting place.
Stay well, everyone. And, if you have time, attack one pile of clutter or spend an hour in the garden, and I’ll do the same.
What a beautiful dress. Thanks!
Praying that George is on his feet soon but don’t worry about us Sofa Sisters. We seem to never run out of things to say to each other. I can only imagine what it would be like to have us all in the same room. But it does sound like it would be fun.
I just joined in a little while ago because I had a horrible time getting going this morning. i was in total misery. Okay maybe that’s a bit melodramatic but I was still trying to get over my sitting on my son’s non-support sofa and dealing with their rambunctious Catahoula hound and then had to go to PT. A shower didn’t help, using my leg cream didn’t help and I knew I couldn’t take anything until I had something to eat. Finally I think I’ve got things under control enough that I can go to Chorale rehearsal this evening. I’m usually terrible about keeping up with pain medication when I need it but will be sure to do that today. I do see some improvement in my problem but I’ve only had two sessions and after my problems with the sofa it’s like I’m back to square one. I do great during the exercises, but the next day, ouch! Then I got a call this morning would I be okay with changing my appointment Monday from 4 pm to either 8 or 10 am. I’m barely moving at any time of the morning, but I took 10 am. I’ll just have to take my prescription painkillers in a timely manner over the weekend and hope all goes well. I’ve always had a strong core but having trouble doing things for the past few years turned it to mush. I know hindsight is 20-20 but I sure wish I hadn’t let this happen. I totally admire my Sofa Sisters who have not let that happen. Thumbs up to them.
slow and steady, Barbara.
I am not as perky peppy and spry as I used to be and I am only 70.
I hope the pain eases. Perhaps you can sit on something else at your son’s. Maybe he should get you a new couch 🛋️ 😁
I understand the stiff and sore knees back etc/. I have scoliosis. Gosh it is always something.
It would be wild if we were all in the same room. I think we would be very quite and reserved for a while and then at some point we would all burst with chatter
