Hi everyone,
Before I wrote this post this evening, I checked to see the comments I hadn’t gotten to earlier. I had to smile at the last comment, by Dorothy of PA and the World. Her first line was, “Dear Jeanne, of course you fixed it! You’re a wiz at working things out!” Well, I sure didn’t feel like it yesterday, but now that it’s behind me, I’ll accept your compliment! Thanks Dorothy!
Okay, now for today, I wanted to get 3 things done… the long sleeve tee needed to have something to make it more like a body suit so it would stay down inside her overalls and not slide up when they were being pulled up. I added a little stretch lace piece and fashioned it into a pair of lace-like panties and the problem was solved! YAY!
You’ll also see the cute Newsboy cap on Ten Ping… I’ll show you more in a minute…
Another thing I wanted to make was a Newsboy cap for her. I thought it went better than another other kind of hat… It’s a black and white houndstooth check in a soft flannel I had… It’s a pattern made by Designs by Jude and fits Ellowyne doll’s heads too.
The last thing I wanted to accomplish was to make a pair of shoes for Ten Ping. I wanted to make black leather boots, but I searched and searched and searched for the last pattern I had used and could not figure out which scraps of paper had the right boots on it. I did cut out a pair and punched the holes in them and soaked it in water getting ready to wet mold them… when I realized my leather was navy blue not black… phooey!
So I decided to make just a pair of black slip on shoes… They are still wet, but I think the leather was too thin… they didn’t have much shape… so I was giving up and putting all my hundreds of pattern pieces away for the night and the second to the last piece I picked up was the pattern piece I used for those 4 pair of little shoes with flowers on them. It was a very good fit on Ten Ping. So… I cut out a pair of slip on shoes in a heavier black leather, wet molded them but they are still drying.
In the meantime, I looked in my “extra” shoes for dolls I have made and found this pair of dark brown Ultrasuede shoes with black trim and little bows added to the front. I decided to go ahead and use them for now… I was hoping to get this listed on Ebay tomorrow night, but I work at the Food Pantry tomorrow, so I won’t have any time to make the shoes after I get home, IF I plan to list this… so for now, it’s the Ultrasuede shoes…
Here are some more shots of Ten Ping looking pretty dapper in this cute set!
Well, I better get to bed…it’s after midnight! EEK!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

This is turning out to be a really cute outfit, Jeanne! The newsboy cap in the houndstooth check is unexpected, but it really works with the other fabrics! I’m sure you’ll get the shoes done before we know it, too.
Yes, the houndstooth check cap was a surprise to me too, but the more I think about it, was that the matching material of the overalls for a cap would look too matchy. This is actually a much better option.
What a clever idea to add the lace to the crotch area for a full body suit! The shoes are cute too, really a darling outfit there for some lucky little doll!
Super adorable, cutest trousers everrrrr.
This is precious, Jeanne. She needs a little bag with a puppy in it…
I just love these dolls!
Happy Friday happy dear friends. Today I am sewing all day… fitting chores in between haha or something like that.
I hope everyone has pretty weather.
Oh, little Ten Ping looks so spiffy in her new outfit. The shoes are showing up as gray with black trim on my monitor. Guess I’d like to see something like mary janes with it as she is so petite. The hat is cute too, but maybe a little bow tucked in her hair would add a more feminine touch and another look. The overalls turned out so cute. I think a photo not on the brown wooden box might show them off better as they are blending in with the box. Just a thought. 🙂
Rained again last night, but I won’t be able to do any deck prep on the lower deck railings and bench as I have my eye appointment this morning. Now it looks like we’ll be heading out to pick up a bunch of 2×2’s to redo a lot of the upper deck railings. Lots more work to do. Ugh
Glad to say that I did get in some sewing yesterday. Hoping to get back to more tomorrow. I think I need to piece together a big matching bow for the hair even though I’m not sure who will be trying the outfit on yet. 🙂
This outfit is adorable, Jeanne ! And Ten Ping looks so cute in it. The hat and shoes are perfect with it. You are so creative.
It makes me wish I had a Ten Ping …. Mmmm? In the pictures, she reminds me of a busy little 5 or 6 year old running around in her new outfit, all excited to show it off! 😊
I also wanted to mention that your Ten Ping doll is exceptional though compared to other Ten Ping dolls – didn’t you enhance her face sometime ago? She is really a beautiful little doll.
I think I should consider finding one – then I could enjoy the clothes you make for her too. This outfit is really really cute!
Hi Paula,
Yes, Ten Ping does have a beautiful face, but it wasn’t me that gave it to her…
Back a few years ago, when I was waiting on getting a new Little Darling from Lana Dobbs, I found out my wait time was going to be extended quite a bit longer because she had taken on too many orders and was way behind. I ended up waiting 3 years and 3 months for my Emmie.
Lana felt so bad, she did Ten Pings for free!!
I had asked her how I could get the orange blush toned down or removed and use pinkish rose tones instead.
She told me she’d do Ten Ping for me because of the wait. I was absolutely thrilled when she came back home to me. I guard her face very carefully when sewing for her.
You should find a nude Ten Ping… then I could be her dressmaker! :o)
Thanks Paula!
Absolutely! I’m looking!
Thanks for telling me the story about her facial paint. I had forgotten. The facial remake is beautiful!
Paula, Ten Ping is part of the “kindergarten” series, which is, I think, 3 or 4 different dolls. I don’t have TenPing, but I have Gigi (who thinks Jeanne is her personal couturier!) and she is cute, too. You might check the Ruby Red Galleria to see what is available there, and then, if you prefer, you can search for a nude on on ebay or something, and know which face you prefer.
I love newsboy caps. I’ve never made one, but they are so cute, especially for an outfit like this. The houndstooth check goes great with the outfit. I don’t mind matchy-matchy much but not with this kind of outfit. I need to check my leather goods to see if I have anything lightweight. I love the idea of making straps from leather, especially since sewing them for small clothes can be a pain. The shoes are cute but I’m waiting to see if you come up with something else as they seem kind of dressy for the outfit.
Summer seems determined to hang on here in SE Texas. For a few days the humidity was way down and even though it was in the low 90s range it did not feel too bad. But the humidity refuses to stay away so the mornings are getting warmer and even though the temps are not up much they seem a lot hotter.
Jeanne, the hat and shoes just add so much to the outfit. I love it all, and also the way you add the little panties with the top. I really wish I had gotten a Ten Ping long ago.
Joy, wishes for a good appointment for your eyes today. Also, if you can’t work on the deck you can sew!!
We are headed for Peyton’s hand doc. He has a very stiff hand and trigger finger, and will get a shot. I told him that when I had a trigger finger I found out that doing a lot shuffling cards cured it much to my surprise. He wasn’t interested trying that. I hope the shot will work.
After that we will go to the grocery store and then to Cracker Barrel for lunch.
Y’all have a great day!
Tks on my eye appointment. It’s still pretty blurry, but getting better by the hour. Not having the eye pain at all like I get sometimes. So, I won’t have to think about it for six weeks and my next appointment. Yay!
I hadn’t thought about card shuffling for trigger. When mine was bothering me , I stretched and forced it a lot so my hand was flat. No problems any more. 🙂
Have a good weekend!
