Helen Kish dolls sure are cute… especially in swimsuits!

Hi everyone,
My sisters and I hit the shops again and had just as much fun the 3rd day in a row shopping! We hit the same stores too… TJ Maxx, Kohls, Goodwill, the old Thrift Shop and Panera’s! We are easy to please and even found some new things we didn’t see yesterday!
Deb found a fun game for her grand kids and Cindy found a few things to sell in her antique booth and I found a sweater to go with my dress for the wedding.

We ate dinner at another one of our favorite spots tonight… this one was established in 1967! It’s just down the road from us. Midland Inn and has the best pulled pork and their french fries are the best ANYWHERE! We went there to celebrate my dad’s 100th birthday! Too bad he couldn’t join us. He would have loved it!

Sissy saved the day for me with some COOL swimwear pictures of the Helen Kish dolls. I know Barbara has Wren Pistachio so she’ll love them.
Thanks so much Sissy! They are just adorable all playing with each other.

If you click on the pictures they will enlarge!

Hi, Jeanne,

Jeanne, some of the gals seem to want to see these photos from long ago.
The first one is my favorite, with one of the Kish girls flirting with Phoenix. Her suit and the smaller doll’s matching one are the only ones I made. They are lined and made from a child’s suit.

The next one shows the younger girls having fun. The lifeguard here seems very nonchalant about her job. I love the snorkeling outfit that came from a Madeline doll set.

The last one is just a jumble of fun. I wish I had done a better job setting all this up, I was just playing. Sadly, most of these dolls have gone to other moms.

I hope Y’all enjoy these.
Hugs, Sissy

I loved scrutinizing your pictures, Sissy! They are so colorful and happy!

Thanks for sharing,
Blessings, Jeanne

First of all, big thanks to all who are praying for Sarah. As it happened, her surgery got postponed. My thought is, the surgeries scheduled prior to hers didn’t finish in time, and since a bypass can take up to 6 hours, they were left with not enough time to adequately do hers. Isaac (her son, almost 24) is going to talk to the cardiologist tomorrow morning “about a game plan”. He will let me know. I’m hoping to hear something tomorrow morning (Thursday–I’m still up, so it’s still Wednesday!!).

Sounds like you and your sisters are just having way too much fun this week, Jeanne! So glad you have this time together.

Sissy, your pictures are wonderful! Those Kish dolls are such cuties; I actually do have a few of them, but haven’t had them out in a while. I remember one UFDC regional conference my friend and I attended; the luncheon doll was an Ann Estelle, in a special snow themed outfit. Such fun!!

Jeanne, I do believe that you and your sisters is where the saying ” They shopped till they dropped “ came from, I say go for it! Such Fun!

What a fun blog today, Jeanne! I’m glad you and your sisters found some things to buy , while going out shopping in this heat worthwhile! My sisters and I are roughly 10 years older than you and yours are, so no, we would definitely not be running around in weather like this! Oh, to be young again!😉

Sissy, your beach scenes made me smile! All the little accessories that make it look so realistic and fun! I am not sure how big your dolls are, but where did you find this darling inner tubes? And those bongo drums! The little sandcastle , buckets and shovels are perfect for the scene!

Since I don’t have any Helen Kish dolls, I do notice that their joints look really nice when they are bent, unlike the Ruby Red dolls. I have Sara and I do notice the gaps in her joints much more than these, which is one reason I hesitated in buying ball jointed dolls. They look fine in longer sleeves, pants, and long dresses, but not so great in swimsuits! These are really nice! Thank you for sending these darling pictures to Jeanne, and to Jeanne for showing them off!

One thing I love about my 8″ Tiny Betsy is her wonderful bending knees. When bent they look like regular knees so she looks so cute when playing her tiny baby grand piano. I agree about the RRFF dolls and the Minis really could have been done better I think.

  4. Oh gosh, so very adorable pics, Sissy. Very creative scenes!! I love all of the perfectly sized accessories, most particularly the swim ring and the beach chair, and the scuba outfit! Oh and the littles on the boat! I love this.
(frequently I send these pictures on to my grand daughters 8 and 10)
Thank you for sharing them! Today is my third attendance at the new “craft and chat” club. Still working on my binding. I hope to finish it today.
It is supposed to be stormy this afternoon.

Well, I would sure like to see some of the great “finds” that Jeanne and her sisters have procured this week. I’m sure they are great. And hopefully, we can also see a pic of Jeanne at the wedding. I would love to see her outfit. Wish I had some shopping buddies. And that favorite restaurant was established the year I graduated from HS. 1967! 🙂
From boats to bongos! What fun. Sissy’s pics of her former Kish collection are fab. Loved seeing all of the great furniture and accessories. These are such wonderful photos filled with exciting props and ideas. Like Charlotte, I do have some of the Kish crowd living here. Mostly laying down as they keep falling over. Bad me. Thanks so much Jeanne and Sissy for sharing today. 🙂
Well, now that I’ve found the yellow chalk, there are X’s all over the upper deck. Other person has about figured out the number of boards we need to replace. Way too many. We’re going to the lumber place today to see what it costs for delivery as transportin those extra long boards won’t work in our truck. Another project ahead because after the wood cures, we will be out staining that space as well.
Kitty report. Coco, was there at the other house waiting for us yesterday. Back to the same old once again. It made my heart flip to see her jump the little fence out in front upon our arrival. 🙂

    1. That’s wonderful, Joy. Very happy to hear Coco is back to visiting you on time. I was ticking off the five porch kitties I see in the morning. Then there are the three to expect in the later afternoon/ evening.

Isn’t it interesting how the kitties have their own timetable. I’m sure that they are thrilled for their meals at your place. 🙂

I have an update on Sarah from my grandson:

“So the cardiologist came, they said their main surgeon is flying back in today so tomorrow he’s gonna go over her tests and review all the things before he makes a decision.”

that was as if early this morning. Thanks for continued prayers!

  7. What adorable summer scenes, Sissy. You have some many great accessories to make the scene seems so real. Love the lifeguard chair, the cute sand pails, and that sweet little boat.

It sounds like a lot of fun shopping going on , Jeanne. Woke up to a refreshing morning after days and days and days of heat. A lovely cooling shower and a temperature of 72!

I am so glad y’all enjoyed the photos. I used to get all kinds of stuff for the dolls and had fun with them. When I started sewing for Helen I got so busy, and I got so many dolls from her for sewing payment, I just ended up sewing more than playing.

Jeanne, Thank you for showing them. Looking forward to more photos from your shopping with the sisters, especially your outfit for the wedding.

Charlotte, good news for Sarah, prayers continue, keep us posted.

Joy, I am so sorry for all your trouble with the deck. Y’all just work your selves to death! At least you have kittie joy again.

  9. Barbara in SE Texas

What wonderful scenes Sissy. I love every one of them. You have/had so many of the Kish family. I just have my Wren Pistachio and my “Brave Little Girl” is a Helen Kish doll. I really need a Riley since I have a pattern for her that apparently doesn’t fit anyone else.

Hopefully there will be pictures of all the finds from the sister shopping expedition. And I really do want to see pictures of Jeanne’s outfit for the wedding.

Joy, you are two years younger than me but considering all you do I’m definitely aging faster.

    1. Joy in northern CA

I don’t know about that aging thing. You do so much too. Other person graduated in 1964. Lumber load is coming tomorrow. Oh boy! Then, I get to help carry it all around the house and somehow get it up to the lower deck. 🙂
