Hello everyone,
Just a quick reminder: The “BEACH BUDS” set for the Ruby Red Fashion Friend dolls ends tonight on Ebay. I still haven’t gotten the pictures fixed so the new outfits listed and sold can be seen on the right side bar, but I did speak to Sarah at church this morning and she said she would look into why any new pictures can’t be added. In the meantime, I can post a link here for the listing on Ebay..
I took a few days off from being in my sewing room and did a few other things… so I only have a slide show to show you. On this day when so many people are with family and friends, I wanted to thank all those who are NOT at home having a wonderful cookout or picnic with your family and friends. We all appreciate the sacrifice they make for us to live in freedom.
Since I hadn’t started anything new yet, I decided I would just show you some of my Red, White and Blue doll outfits. I’ll start with some of my oldest and archived ones… then I’ll try to finish the rest on or near the 4th of July. Actually, I would be here looking all night, so I am just going to show these for now… the criteria for being chosen for this slide show was the dress or outfit had to be red, white and blue… (oh, how unique Jeanne!) :o)
I need to get to bed, so I’ll see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

I hope Sarah is able to figure things out for you, Jeanne. It’s so frustrating to have computer issues of any kind, but especially things that relate to your business!
I see you have two bids on the Beach Buds set, so maybe there will end up being a down-to-the-wire bidding war. We never know! It’s such a cute ensemble, and I know some lucky doll(s) will be happy to have it!
Some cute R/W/B outfits here, and there are several I like, but I think Kit’s, with the embroidered white yoke, is my favorite today.
We used some patriotic music at church today (I’m still up so it’s still Sunday!), starting out with our National Hymn (“God of Our Fathers”), for which we always stand (as we do for the National Anthem). I had forgotten about that, when one time I used our National Hymn as the last part of my prelude, and the pastor had everyone stand while I played it!
And I did put a picture of my Uncle Ed, mom’s older brother, in his Navy uniform, as my profile picture on FB, as he is the one relative I know of who actually did die in service to his country, and Memorial Day is the day to honor those who gave all. He was on the aircraft carrier Bunker Hill when it was hit by two kamikaze pilots on May 11, 1945. He was buried at sea, as were a number of others that day. Some years back, some movies surfaced that had been taken of that attack; I’m thankful my mother never saw them (by then she had dementia and couldn’t really watch TV), because I know they would have bothered her. They bother Me, and Uncle Ed died several months before I was born!
Other than that, and a possible visit to the cemetery tomorrow, I’m not doing anything special for Memorial Day. It will likely be a quiet one for me, and that’s okay.
Good morning! I certainly hope this Memorial Day is a good one for everyone! We are doing a lot of nothing today, and that is the way I like it! Grilling on the Weber grill, watering flowers, sitting and watching the birds and the Cardinals game, sound about right for us!
So nice that you have two bids so far on the darling swim and beach outfits!
What a darling array of red, white and blue! I see that Molly has a lot of those cute outfits, which really are her colors! I absolutely love that last dress on Kit! I donβt remember that one at all, but it certainly is a show stopper!
Your day sounds like ours. π But, we are going to walk to the cemetery and listen to the program there. And I will be chasing Callie Cat from trying to catch butterflies and whatever else she tries to catch. Naughty kitty.
I quietly read your post every day. These red, white and blue outfits are just so adorable and detailed. Absolutely love all the fabric combinations. Great fun for a Memorial day.
Hope all Jeanne’s followers have a wonderful day.

Dear Doreen, So happy to read your comment.
I used to be a quiet reader π₯° mainly: 2013-2024 taking care of mom and dad. Greetings from Northern Virginia.
Hi Doreen!
I agree. The r/w/b outfits are so much fun.
Good to hear from you.
Thank you Doreen,
It’s always nice when you come out of lurking and we can chat with you. Thanks for your kind comments. Blessings, Jeanne
Oh my goodness, this is quite a parade of the girls! I love this Jeanne.
I can not pick a favorite. All of these outfits are so unique in polish and so expertly styled on these darling dolls, yikes! These are perfect!
Points that stand out are Addy’s sleeves! the embroidered collar for Kit,
The first two pictures of the antique girls in precious playful outfits!
Each picture. …. wow! You chose the prettiest fabrics.
Enjoy this special Memorial Day of remembrance, dear ones and the selfless dedication they made for our country.
Jeanne, I hope your friend can help you sort these internet/computer challenges.
Yesterday my sister came over with her computer so my hubbs could figure out what happened when she got kind of scammed trying to get her printer hooked up. Hubbs and I still do not completely understand how that all happened but she spent time on the phone two days before with some “representative” trying to hack into her computer. SO, I am very happy that you are relying on trusted friends.
It was a fun several hours with my sister, Joyce. She has always been single, on her own, and life is getting challenging for her now. My hubbs, Rex, is always helpful to her.
I love her dearly, we are completely different in every single way.
Charlotte, I love that hymn God of Our Fathers. I love playing it on the piano too. … except no one would be able to sing along because I play too slow π₯²
We have had 5 cloudy days in a row, not a peep of sun. 4 of the days we have had rain.
Yesterday was a nice break with just the heavy clouds. Today I believe we will
get light rain a few times. The sun is forecast to come out on Thursday. Very dreary, but I see some tiny seedlings out front in my tiny garden. I am pretty sure a bunny will come and nibble up everything. I do have some seeds in pots too.
I did a little bit of sewing, and some hand sewing of a long time endeavor, making little flowers from hexagon shapes. One day I will send Jeanne some photos. Hand sewing is nice.
Hubbs and I started watching an awfully scary series on Apple TV called Widow Bay. We are not big tv watchers but this one is crazy. We are also watching a series called The House of Spirits. It is Spanish dubbed in English.
And we watch regularly Youtube videos, Clever Cowgirl, , Homestead Horsemanship, Tousi tv, and just videos made by The Birder King. haha
Enjoy this day dear ones.
We do share those weather systems here in the upper south. The rain has been welcome as the news tells us we are in a record breaking drought. One of the selling points of this house was the wooden fence around the patio area. We add some grass and flower beds and watched as the bunnies came to feast. Luckily the hardware store has some green fencing that we were able to place inside the wooden posts. No more rabbits!
What a treat! I love all of them but am partial to the dresses for the American Girls due to their 40th anniversary. I celebrated the 40th anniversary by purchasing Felicity. I wanted her in 1991 when she was released by Pleasant Company. In recent years I have bought and sold 11 Felicity’s without finding just the right one. The new Mattel versions are not exact copies but good reproductions. All of you talented seamstresses would immediately notice that the patterns do not match from the bodice to the skirt. Mattel did not add any outfits to their offerings for the anniversary dolls so collectors might love a Jeanne original. Good luck with the summer outfits for the ruby reds, they are adorable.
Whew, we are not the only viewers watching Youtube videos. Hubby is like a kid in a candy store when he sees all those thumbnails load on the screen. We do not watch much TV either but when we found out we were paying for 5 streaming channels we figured out how to watch. Besides college baseball and European cycling races we are watching two 80+ British actors maneuver long boats through British canals. Ahh retirement….
Thoughtfully remembering our service men and women and wishing all of you a Happy Memorial Day.
I think that is a great idea on the AG patriotic outfit. Maybe Jeanne, will create something fun for the celebrations.
Congratulations on Felicity, Debbie! Samantha was the one I wanted the most when there were only three and then when Felicity came out I would have wanted her second, but my daughter got all the dolls first. Finally, in 2007 I got her basically displayed only PC German 1991 Samantha as Sam was far from her favorite and then in 2014 I bought my PC 1991 West German Felicity. They are the most spoiled of my girls with the largest collections.
I picked one! Kirsten in the red vest and morning glory skirt, just love this outfit from top to bottom, kerchief to hem.
Good choice Debbie.
I just can’t pick!! π All of them are so cute.
Well, happy Memorial Day to all. A great day to celebrate all of those who fought and died for our country. The red/white/blue colors are so uplifting on this very foggy wet morning. I especially loved seeing the Kish girls in their cute outfits and the two wearing that felt, I think, adorable red hat. I was looking over the weekend at straw hats for my Ruby Reds and couldn’t find anything I liked. This style hat would be so cute if made to fit them. I love the stitching on the edge too. Maybe it could be made in a neutral straw color for summer? The dolls here would love to see some fun beach hats. I like it because it isn’t all floppy like some hats. How about a hat, beach bag, and thongs as a set? Would be fun for summer. π
We’ll be heading down to the cemetery about ten to catch the Memorial Day program and Avenue of the Flags. Hope the fog lifts a bit because it is only 51 right now. I don’t think that the flyover can happen though. Too foggy. We were there yesterday and put out flowers for my family. So nice of the local scout troops to manage to have little flags for everyone who served in the wars placed on the graves. It really is a beautiful sight.
We’ll be firing up the grill on the deck to cook that tri-tip later. I’m going to make green beans with Italian tomatoes, feta, and pine nuts, my favorite, to go with it. Yum.
Have a great Monday, everyone.
I hope your weather improves for memorials and celebrations. π₯°
You have a lovely day planned. The American Legion usually does something here but I didn’t see mention of it this year. Or maybe I just missed it or they didn’t because of the chance of a rainstorm. I want your recipe for your side dish. Our tomatoes are coming in ninety to nothing and we have a ton of Italian tomatoes and I love feta.
As to the green beans, I usually use frozen Trader Joe’s French verts, which I put in a pan with a little water and warm up/cook until almost crisp tender. Don’t want them mushy. Then, I add a half a can of Italian style tomatoes. I put the other half in a freezer bag and freeze for the next time. I turn down the heat and then add a bunch of feta on top. Just sprinkle it all over the beans in the pan. Then, sprinkle pine nuts over the top. All done. I keep the pan on low to just stay warm. We love them that way and they are delicious the next day as well. π
As to the tomatoes here, we just planted them yesterday, so it will be awhile before we get any.
Thanks so much Joy. I’ll give this a try.
My town has a Creek Festival on Memorial Day weekend. I think this is the first time it wasn’t rained out. We recently had enough rain (and are expecting more) that we’ve stopped looking at the sky, trying to mentally force it to rain. The grass is finally turning green.
Debbie mentioned Felicity. I also wanted Felicity when she first came out. Several years later, after I finished chemo and radiation, I thought, “Why not?” and found one that looked good on Ebay…but less good when she got here. Her dress was dirty, her stockings full of holes, her hair apparently never combed, but she was quite clean. Jeanne had washed doll hair, so I combed, washed, and conditioned her hair, wrapped her in a soft towel, and found her a new meet dress and stockings.
Several years later, Elizabeth was my reward for escaping the hospice. By then Felicity had a big enough wardrobe to share, and I found her earrings on Ebay.
Maybe for the Fourth of July, you could make dresses for the American Girls of the Revolution.
Did you know that in 1824, Lafayette returned to the US and Americans put aside their differences to honor him and celebrate the country he helped create. He visited all 24 states. It was like a long, country-wide July 4th. If you are interested, there’s a book

I did not know this but Lafayette was an amazing person. We couldn’t have done it without him. Too bad he wasn’t around to see us reciprocate during WWll.
I am touched by your story of your special AG dolls and reason for buying them. My husband wants to know why I donβt have one of the dolls made in W Germany, scarcity and money. π. My daughterβs collection came first but remains in the closet unloved.
I loved all the RW&B outfits and it would be hard to pick a favorite. I do love the collar on Kit’s dress. So different. I noticed that you used to sew for some of the dolls I only recently acquired, i.e., some of the Kish girls (Rylie and Wren Pistachio). Sorry I missed out on them. All the outfits I’ve seen you’ve done for them are wonderful.
Belonging to a liturgical church and yesterday being Whitsunday (Pentecost) the songs for that season took precedence over the national hymns. But we always sing the fourth verse of “America” (My Country Tis of Thee) after singing the Doxology when presenting the offering every Sunday. A good reminder of where our gifts and liberty come from.
I didn’t plan anything for the holiday today because we were told we would have a day of rain. Doesn’t look like it so far but that could change but not till much later in the day. However, I shall enjoy a day of peace and spend it in my sewing room. I’m actually – finally – finishing up on the dress to go with the sweater created by Sofa Sister Anne that I won. As soon as I also finish a jumpsuit to go with the sweater. I will take pictures. It was a little scary getting back in the sewing game again because it has been nearly a year since my last creative endeavor but I guess it’s a lot like riding a bicycle. It comes back to you pretty quickly.
Happy Memorial Day everyone. Hope you have a good one.
Happy Memorial Day, to my Sofa Sisters! πΊπ²ππ
Many lovely red, white, and blue dresses. One of my favorites is also Kirsten in that morning glory skirted dress. I also really like Kit’s.
I received a catalog from American Girl the other day and was surprised to see the historical girls have been turned into modern girls. Thankfully I’m not a purist so I can say they are actually cute and I love their clothes. And AG appears to be bringing back some of the historical girls. I’m eyeing a Samantha since she would have been about the age of my grandmother in 1904. I’m never sure the ages of the girls but I figure about 10. My grandmother would have been eight but wearing the same type clothes as Samantha and pretty much living the same kind of life. My grandmother was raised in Bloomsburg, PA, Columbia County. Bloomsburg is an adorable small town in northeastern PA with a lot of history in the area. Columbia County is the site of the only double covered bridges in the state. They belonged to my grandmother’s family and are now part of a park so they are kept up.
Happy Memorial day to you all. We have ANZAC day which is 25th April but much the same activity. Most of the fun stuff happens on the Marae’s (the Maori Meeting Place) or many of the men who remember the different wars they were a part of meet up at the RSA’s (Returned Servicemen’s Association). All after the dawn parades and services though.
The guy who was going to fit my new cooker never got back to me after his no show on Friday, in spite of several messages from me so we contacted another one yesterday afternoon he came around almost straight away and hooked it up. He needs to come back today because the couple who renovated the kitchen did the floor around their old cooker and the new one doesn’t fit around the floor, some of it (the floor) will have to be cut away to make it stop wobbling. However it is coffee this morning so he will have to come after that.
Have a lovely day everyone
