Fashionable New Year’s Eve dresses on my dolls!

Hi everyone and Happy New Year’s Eve! 2025 only has a few more hours until it’s no more!

A few of you were talking about the Jacquie Lawson Advent Calendar and the games on some of the days. Well, a sweet Sofa Sister gifted me (again) with this years calendar. Thank you again! Several of you talked about loving the Jewel game, but I have to confess, I LOVE the one called Santa Drop! It’s on Day 6 of the calendar. I actually still have last years version still on my desktop computer and played it all last year. It a “merge” game where something is dropped and it if hits a “like” object, it explodes into the next biggest size object. The object is to get as many points as you can and ultimately collect Santas. I do have a very high score as you can see…but the most Santa’s I’ve collected in any one game is 2. I did play a game a few minutes ago, just so I could show you what it looks like, and I happened to get 1 Santa in the game. :o) I probably play at least one game a day… usually before I go to bed if it’s not too late.

I thought it might be fun to see some of my dolls in past New Year’s Eve dresses! Yes, a few of them may have been Christmas, but I used Silver and Gold as my criteria for picking them for this post!

Let’s see who we have up first…

It’s Nyssa… in the dress that gave me SOOOO many problems… it was made from a silvery woven fabric that raveled like I’ve never seen and it was a bear to sew! I can’t believe I even saved it… at one time I was thinking of throwing it in the trash! But somehow with some patience and a little bit of refiguring the back of the dress, I finally finished it… Nyssa didn’t know what all the fuss was about!
It was a pattern by Magalie.

Next up is a Regency dress shown on Eden… the one that got away… the one I SHOULD have kept. She had the prettiest face… not a flaw on it anywhere! Her dress is a drapey silver and black design and she looked like she just stepped off the runway to me. She wore this one very well!

Next is Nyssa in a pretty black velvet top with a white ruffled lacy skirt. This was a fun outfit to make! I think it’s so dressy and looks wonderful on her!

Patsy is wearing a pretty ice blue print dress with silver flecks in it. The blue wool felt is trimmed with snowflakes and sparkling glass seed beads. She looks cute in her white fur trimmed hat…

Little 6″ Navi is showing off her gold ensemble. I made her little bed and had so much fun taking these pictures of her sitting on it playing with her kitty. The sweater she’s wearing isn’t knitted; it’s an actual ladies gold speckled sweater that I cut up and lined with tulle and added the gold beads for buttons. I made her tiny gold shoes and her slip and her thigh highs… This was another set I had fun with.

Even though Patsy picked out the blue and silver fabric, Noel decided she wanted a dress made from it too. Her dress is slightly different, but still very little girlish and sweet.

Ten Ping was my guinea pig for this silver dress… it was a piece of stretch fabric on a roll and I thought I could make her a cute end of the year dress from it. With a little bit of pinching up the front neckline, I think it worked okay… The bonus for this set was the darling hot pink fur coat and warm furry hat. Ten Ping loved it… and I hope you did too!

Oh, no… I can’t be so! Emmie picked the SAME blue fabric as a few of my other smaller sized girls. I guess this was the fabric of the year for a few years in a row. It looked pretty on anyone who wore something made from it. Yet another style, Emmie got a furry jacket, muff and hat. She was really set for the wintery weather!

Lavender, a new Ruby Red Fashion Friend, I had gotten at the end of last year, wanted to wear the last dress I made for last year. I think I called this one Silver Sparkle and she certainly did in this set. Her sweater was another one I made from a ladies cut up sweater. I made her skirt and slip and silver shoes and headband and necklace and thigh highs! She got the works with this set!

Well, I’m fresh out of New Year’s Eve dress sets. (At least I can’t remember any more!) I may have missed a couple, but I’ve tried every combination of gold, silver, New, Years, dress, party, shimmer, sparkle, and these were the only ones I found.

I hope you enjoyed them…

Don’t forget… (Friday) we will be having a Giveaway… It will end at midnight Friday evening and someone will be the winner of a brand new _________! Gotta wait to see what it is! :o)

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

What a fun post tonight! I need to go back and play Santa Drop again–haven’t done that in a while, and I didn’t do nearly as well as you did, Jeanne!

I replied to Linda’s, Dorothy’s, Rosemary’s and Barbara’s comments yesterday on the Advent Calendar, if you want to go and look.

Now, the New Year’s Eve outfits….It’s hard to pick a favorite of these festive outfits, although, of course, Gigi is telling me that Ten Ping’s outfit IS “our” favorite, because she owns it!! And I had better get her changed into it before it’s time for the New Year’s Eve party!! I don’t know what party she thinks she’s going to–but I sure haven’t been invited!! 😂 (I think she’s hoping I’ll serve her some ginger ale in a fancy glass….)

Of the others, I think it’s a toss-up between Emmie’s and Lavender’s; they are both so pretty.

Have a safe and sane New Year’s Eve, everyone, and a Happy New Year to all!

I saw your reply to me. I did notice the buildings as they appeared on the shelves in my cottage living room. I didn’t at first but as more appeared it caught my attention. Did you notice on the Paris calendar that if the cat was sleeping in the room he didn’t chase the mouse. It was only when I couldn’t find the cat and clicked on the mouse that the cat came out of nowhere to chase the mouse. Too cute but every time I went to show it to someone the cat was sleeping in the room. I got too frustrated on the Santa Clause thing and didn’t do well on the one with the balls. I mostly play the two solitaire games and the mahjong one in the Paris calendar.

Thanks for your kind words on Dionne. That poor woman has spent most of her life being abandoned. First by her mother who left when she was a baby and then pretty much by her father who came and went and left his children with whoever would take them in until he showed up again. She was married for awhile a few years before Sean came along. Her mother-in-law wasn’t happy about it and managed to break up the marriage literally putting her out on the street. She managed to find a family member to take her in. I told Sean that no matter how much he was hurting she was in great pain also. It was like she was throwing away happiness for fear of losing it. If this hasn’t proved anything else to her it’s that Sean truly loves her and is in it for the long haul.

Dear Charlotte, I just read you comments from yesterday. Thanks for letting me know they were there. I feel like the “room” had fewer things this year. I remember last year, there were a bunch of wrapped presents that had activities associated with them. This year, it seems that there were fewer items scattered around and nothing was wrapped.

I think I have only gone up to Day 18. I always like to leave some “surprises” for later (smile).

I didn’t notice about the shelves getting more gingerbread houses each day. I just know when I clicked on them, they didn’t do anything.

If you look on the calendar from last year, you will see the man I mentioned sitting outside at a coffee shop holding a mug (I think). He is looking to our left (his right). He is wearing a cap.

I heard from the hospital yesterday. They said that there was no Hematoma or muscle tear in my arm. So now I will have to see what my main doc has to say, but since we are leaving Friday for 2 weeks I don’t know when I will find out what he will say.

Jeanne, I love the blues and silvers and the little golden outfit too. Put them all in a room and you would have a New Years Eve party going on for sure! When they come in to the party, the coat closet would be full of lovely soft coats and sweaters. We used to go to such parties on New Years Eve but the couple that had it has stopped years ago. He made the best Eggnog I have ever tasted. We are all getting older, though. There will be a party at the Golf club but we don’t go there. We will be curled up in our den watching shows on tv, and going to bed early as always.

Well, Jeanne, I am the kind of person who isn’t crazy about playing games on the computer, or even cards! However , the older I get, the more I enjoy puzzles and SOME games, like the ones on the Advent calendar. I don’t recall the tutorial for that game you showed us, if it ever had one, so I have no idea what in the world you are supposed to do, and how to do it. Things move so fast in some games, I have no idea what is going on! However, I tried the one you showed us, and after playing a few times, I kind of “get” the idea of the game, although, I don’t think I know everything about it. The Santa, what is that, and what does that mean?? Oh well, I like the simple games, but that snowball fight one, is hard to dodge the snowballs with the “clicker” I have! Good thing it is only a game on the computer or I would have been knocked out long ago!🤣

I love the New Year’s dresses! I especially love Lavender’s last dress, Silver Sparkle, and little Navi’s gold outfit! And then Eden’s formal, so pretty! Did you actually sell her?? That is too bad, since she was really a very pretty doll and modeled so well.
    Nyssa’s dress is just spectacular!

No partying for us tonight either! Just a regular evening, but we will be watching other celebrations on tv, and might, just might stay uo till midnight, but I do doubt that!

Happy New Year everyone, and here is wishing you health and happiness in the coming year!

I’ve tried again and again to get the gist of the Santa Claus game but never get far with it. So I gave up and play the solitaire games.

  4. Happy New Years Eve every one. I hope all of you enjoy a delightful day hopefully some sunshine too.
Jeanne, that game looks cute, I would probably do really bad with it. I used to play the old tetris many years ago and was quite proficient – then there was Tetris Bombs. A Terrible fright inducing name, but when a bomb came down I could aim it in “problem” pile ups which was always really helpful haha
The dresses. I love all of them. The girls look precious. The dresses, yes the blue fabric is really very “Decembery” and wintry. I love the fur jackets and the hats.
Nyssa’s black top and lace skirt is beautiful! The gold ensemble on tiny Navi is so precious. Thank you for sharing these for New Years day.
We have a party going on tonight at the little community center in our section of the neighborhood, I think it is called Birch House. Hubbs and I will not be going. It looks really fun, and I am sure many many potential new friends will be there, but…..

I have a cold. Not horrible. A headache and sore throat. No fever. Nurses are the worst patients and I am annoying when I am sick. So I am going to attempt to lay low today and avoid any meltdowns from frustration. I do not want to get sicker and need medical intervention so I will just drink a lot of tea today and do some sewing, I started a new project for some odd reason. I have a zillion old ones and here I go. So hopefully I can listen to some nice classical music and just sew sew sew.
2026 is going to be a great year, full of all of the good things and the nicest adventures.
    I love all of you
    Rosemary

I understand that the flu is everywhere now. Hope yours doesn’t turn into that. Keep warm.

Seeing Patsy and Noel made my heart sing. Not that Lavender, didn’t steal the show with her cute sweater outfit too. All of the New Years outfits are lovely. Thanks so much Jeanne for sharing them.
Here, I’m not a game player. I think that may be because as a young teen, I played so many board games I fizzled. I prefer searching for information and looking at exciting photos of things on the computer. I’m so visual.
And, I just received tracking from RRed for my next dolly addition. Maybe two weeks out? Always takes awhile coming from HKong.
This afternoon, I’ll be making lasagna. I really doubt that I’ll stay awake until midnight, but will probably watch the crowds freezing somewhere earlier. And I’ve been making snowflakes. Doll sized of course. 🙂
    Stay safe and take care!

  6. I love playing games but have never heard of the game you showed us. it sounds interesting.

what a treat to see all the new year outfits. there are so many that I like it’s hard to say, which is my favorite. I like the one that lavender is in and little Ling is wearing. I think that’s her name.

I wish everyone a happy new year and a blessed one as well.

Very pretty holiday dresses on the little ladies. I can’t really pick a favorite but I do love the three blue ensembles. And Nyssa always looks so elegant in anything she wears. She has the perfect body for wearing those types of clothes.

I was a little surprised when I downloaded the Jacquie Lawson calendar this year to see there was only one building. So different than in the past. But when I realized the buildings were going to show up each day it was actually more fun to anticipate. On the 24th when Santa and the reindeer showed up it made it easier to get the full effect of the street behind the main street. The people at Jacquie Lawson are amazing. I have gotten these calendars for years now and watched them morphed from more of a flat appearance with shadows moving through the rooms to what they are today. I have lost a few of the early ones when i changed computers. This time I made sure to download the ones I could to my new computer. It was easy and most everything came back complete except for the things in the “home”. All the packages in the Paris apartment had to be reopened and the tree redecorated.

Tonight we are going to dinner with Sean and family to celebrate New Year’s Eve and it is also Jaiden’s 14th birthday. We go early to get off the roads before the partiers.

Happy New Year to Jeanne and all my Sofa Sisters. Stay safe – and warm.

Joy I am not one for playing games on my computer either. I enjoy jigsaw puzzles but there always seems to be so much to do that we never get around to putting them out.
Jeanne, it was fun seeing your new year dolly fashion parade. I think the only one I have seen before was Lavender, all the others were new to me.
Happy New Year everyone. It is 7.30am New Years Day here. The heavy rain finally arrived overnight so might have done the garden some good, It is supposed to clear later so hope they are right. I’m assuming my grands arrived home OK there are two passports on the kitchen bench and a suitcase on the deck. I never heard a thing. I am sure Pluto (Kai’s kitten) was pleased to see her back. Asher has been looking after him but I am not sure she was feeding him as regularly as he was used to. He was going next door and eating their cat’s food and our other cats’ food was going down very quickly!
    Have very happy New Year

Happy New Years Day! Here it’s one thirty in the afternoon, and I’m about to start in on making lasagna. 🙂

A lot of us have the Jacquie Lawson calendar. If you are interested, go to
https://www.jacquielawson.com/ There are also cards for most occasions. My current favorites for Christmas are “Gnome Noel,” in which Swedish tomten decorate a tree, and “Lamb of God,” in which a lamb, shaking from cold, takes refuge in an empty church. Lawson has recently worked out how to make her creatures shake and is using it effectively. This year’s calendar and some of the older ones are still for sale. Each gives you an apartment which you can redecorate, complete with a tree and a wide selection of ornaments.

The dresses are lovely. I remember the struggle with Nyssa’s silver dresses. Maybe you should do a slide show of “biggest pain in the neck” outfits.
Then blue ones, red ones, midwinter outfits, outfits with coats….outfits for dolls no longer owned. I’ll bet we could come up with at least 25 themes.

Dear Jeanne, I enjoyed the New Year’s parade of outfits. Each one was more lovely than the one before. And you have the most talented models (smile).

Happy New Year to you and the Sofa Sisters.
