Do you like dolls in yellow dresses???

Hi everyone,
Thank you again for voting for your favorite doll dresses from 2025! I had every size represented from extra small to small to medium to large and I guess we’ll call American Girl dolls Extra Large. I too, had fun looking back on all I made over the course of the year.

Since I had the grid in front of me that I used to mark down who picked which doll outfit, it was easy to tabulate who may have picked 3 of the top winning dolls. Their name would have to be in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd columns of one of the doll outfits that won…

So here are the 4 ladies who picked a winning doll outfit for each placement.

Karen in KY… picked Christmas Charm, Holiday Helper and Summer’s End
Priscilla … picked Christmas Charm, Holiday Helper and Picnic Fun
Debbie in NC… picked Summer’s End, Holiday Helper and Picnic Fun
Linda Gronvall… picked Christmas Charm, Pint Size Patriot and Picnic Fun

Congratulations ladies… If I remember correctly, I think Debbie picked the 3 top winners last year too! :o)

As I was looking through my notebook with all the things made and sold in 2025, I took a look at what else I made besides the dresses/outfits to see if that was perhaps why I only had 18 dresses in the lineup last year. Here is a little breakdown of my other sewing endeavors.
These were all “things” I made “besides” what I sold with the outfits you voted on… They were all sold individually on Etsy or from my blog.

Doll slips… I sold 11
Leather doll shoes… I sold 10 pair
Straw hats… I sold 6
Necklaces… I sold 3
Swimsuits … I sold 9
Headbands … I sold 5
I think I sold some gloves, but I don’t have that information in front of me.

Anyway… It was year filled with lots happening and my sewing room was neglected sometimes for days at a time. I’m really hoping this is a year with a little bit calmer feel to it.

Okay… I have started a new dress… hence my title… Do you like yellow? I’m not a big fan of it typically, but I do like this print. It’s a vintage print I got somewhere last year, but can’t remember where. It’s a pretty yellow with little dots in the background and pink and reddish roses scattered all over. The last picture is a better representation of the color.

I won’t tell you which doll it’s for just yet, as I only have the shoulder seams sewn together. Here it is laid out so you can try to imagine what it will look like.

I WILL tell you.. I have something hidden under one of the skirt pieces and it’s the accessory that inspired me to make this dress…you’re going to love it!!

Well, I need to get to bed…
I’ll see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

You did have a busy year, Jeanne, and I think you did well to get as many outfits and accessories made and sold as you did!

I love this fabric you have chosen–it’s so pretty! And I do like yellow, although I don’t wear it because it makes me look dead! But my kitchen curtains are yellow gingham, with green gingham borders trimmed with yellow rickrack. (Yes, I made them, many years ago; because that window doesn’t get much sun, they have lasted….and lasted….and lasted! I have new curtain fabric, so maybe some day I will have a change!)

Now, I’m wondering who this will be for. If for an AG, I am guessing Rebecca. For some reason, it looks like it’s something she would wear. But it could also be for a Ruby Red Fashion Friend–I think it would be very cute on one of them. I don’t remember which ones you have of those, except for Rosen, and I don’t think it looks like hers. Hmmm….

What pretty fabric, Jeanne! I am trying to remember anything yellow in doll clothes that I have, and the only thing that comes to mind is Felicity’s pretty yellow dress and matching hat, called maybe her Tea Party dress. I do have that one, but there is not much else out there for dolls in yellow, I must say. Oh, I hope this dress is for an 18 inch AG doll!

Are you missing a picture there? You mentioned showing us the shoulder seams sewn and laid out, but I don’t see that at all.

Could that be a pretty parasol underneath the piece of material?

    1. Hi Linda,
I just saw your comment about a picture possibly being missing. It was! It was still loading but I thought it continue till it showed up… guess not.
So I took another picture and it’s there now. The first one was too large to load, I guess.
      Thanks…

I am mistaken on only Felicity having a yellow dress. Kit has one, and I have it too!
The layout of the dress looks like something Molly or Kit would wear, puffed sleeves, a gored circle skirt, not gathers, but do you have Kit? I really have lost track of who you all have now!

  3. I love yellow, this looks pretty and perky to brighten up our dreary chilly days.
I am guessing it is for one of your littler dolls. It is going to be cute because it has cute little roses and dots!
I hope everyone had a superb day today. There is the “crafting group” today but I will not attend. Mainly because I feel like health wise, I should keep my waning germs to myself and not pick up anyone else’s. So, I have errands to do about town.

  4. Karen from Kentucky

I love yellow and I love roses. And I love pink, too. You have had a busy year with everything going on. Making the other things took time, too. Piano lessons got switched to next week due to the teacher’s mother having back surgery today. It’s supposed to take 4 to 5 hours. I bet she’d appreciate prayers. It was so wonderful to see Reuben walking yesterday!

    1. Barbara in SE Texas

Prayers for the piano teacher’s mother. I hope she recovers nicely and whatever was bothering her is gone. My sister had serious back surgery a few years ago and has been doing fine since.

  5. Theresa in Indiana

Pretty fabric! I don’t wear much yellow, but I do like this.

I’m not a good judge of size, so not sure who this dress will be for, but I’m hoping you will make something for Nyssa! She didn’t get any attention at all last year, so she is past due. πŸ™‚

Yellow, yellow, he’s not my fellow! But, in this case, I like it. In fact, it would also make great wallpaper for a powder room. So vintage looking. The dress would be great for Valentine’s Day which is fast approaching. In my opinion, the size appears to be for an AG as the skirt looks way too long for a RRed. Maybe the accessory is a hidden heart purse?
I believe the next holiday is Chinese New Years, so something in red would be a fun next outfit. It’s the year of the horse too. πŸ™‚
Looks like today is delivery day of my Ruby Red Kelly. Since other person is around, I don’t see how a box can escape his detection. I’m doomed.

    1. Barbara in SE Texas

Hoping that you are doomed is not meant literally. I know other person would miss you a lot. But I will be crossing my fingers for a successful doll delivery for you. Send pictures.

Don’t give up Joy! Just come up with some tactical maneuvers for the Mission Impossible !
        I’m cheering you on!!

Oh, No, I hope you can figure out a way for him to disappear when it arrives!

  7. Debbie in North Carolina

This fabric seems perfect for AG Kit or Molly. The style of the dress also speaks 30’s or 40’s to me. I love that you chose a print that is not winter as we are not having much of that this year. So I am thinking spring!
I am hoping you do not choose red next, as Joy suggested, because Emmie wore a red Christmas dress. I am very afraid of red on my dolls because of the dye transfer. Many Madame Alexanders from the early 2000’s seem to leave red dye on the dolls. Of course those dolls were not meant to be undressed. I also steer clear of black for the same reason.

Can’t wait to see what you will show us tomorrow!

    1. Joy in northern CA

You are so right on the dye transfer. I always hand wash my fabrics in soap/warm water before using. And it there is any hint of dye, I don’t use it. I never used to have a problem with red fabrics, but now, it is very difficult to find anything that doesn’t run red somewhat. They do not make fabrics like they used to.

This applies to human clothing too! πŸ‘ Good luck with your latest doll caper. 😍

  8. Actually, I do like yellow depending on the shade. My daughter wore yellow very well as a child and had quite a lot of it in church and play clothes.. One of my very favorite dresses was a pale yellow with bouquets of lily of the valley on it, piped in green and a green and white sash. I wear it sometimes as well.

This fabric is so pretty. I’m thinking it’s probably for a RRFF. I hope there are more of those and AG dresses this year.
I think we need a refresher on which dolls you even have anymore.

    1. Joy in northern CA

That would be fun to see. A tour of Jeanne’s dolls all awaiting their next outfit. πŸ™‚

Dear Jeanne, I loveeeee yellow. It is my favorite color! It makes me think of May. You know how much I love May.

Dolls in yellow dresses with green satin sashes – I thought I would change the lyrics from the song My Favorite Things (smile).

  10. I have always loved yellow, especially baby yellow. I like this yellow and the pretty flower print.
    Hope it’s an AMG!
Btw, I was so excited to see Reuben walking a bit by his self! I started crying I was so happy! I’m sure you and George and the kids are so so happy!!

  11. Marilyn in Colorado

I’m with Debbie, I think it’s an AG dress and specifically a Molly or Kit dress. Yellow was my favorite color when I was growing up and my mom made a yellow dress for me when I was in maybe 3rd grade.

I have a cold. I haven’t had one in so long that I didn’t realize what it was for hours. I probably caught it Monday, when I got my most recent COVID shot.

We have snow. Not much, but it’s badly needed and welcome.

  12. Barbara in SE Texas

I love yellow. It’s one of my favorite colors so can’t wait to see what this fabric morphs into. Have no idea what is hidden from sight or who this lovely fabric will eventually belong to.

I had my first appointment with my new chiropractor yesterday and it went great. It’s a young woman. She spent an hour with me testing everything to see what I needed. She told me she could make the pain (sciatic) go away but the stiffness would take a little longer to work out because there were a few things that needed correcting before I would stop favoring one side over the other. Already the sciatica is gone. I’m left with some muscle aches but I can handle them with my normal analgesic. The sciatica was raw nerve pain and nothing took that away except sitting a lot. I will have two visits per week for six weeks and then she will re-evaluate to see how I’m doing but it doesn’t look like I’m going to need anything other than the normal chiropractic care. No shots or special treatments. By the time I left yesterday I was already standing straighter without pain. Only downside is they take insurance but not Medicare so I’m on my own in paying for this. But I know it will be worth it in the end.
