A VERY colorful post today…

Hi everyone,
My hubby had 25 staples removed from his stomach and tomorrow will be a better day for him, I’m sure!

We are blessed with some REALLY pretty and colorful pictures today! I had no part in this post, except to post them for Dena and Joy.

Dena was blessed to have gotten one of Susette’s dolls being sold and she was SO happy. You’ll see why below!

This is what Dena emailed me…

Here are some pictures of the Kelly Ruby Red Fashion Friends doll that I got when Suemae offered some of Susette’s doll collection. Kellyโ€™s wearing the sweater Anne made in a couple of the pictures. I tried to tame her hair, but it didnโ€™t want to cooperate. Sheโ€™s a very pretty doll and Iโ€™m so glad I was able to get her. I have her sitting in a chair next to my computer where I can see her all day. She makes me smile.

Thank you Dena! I’m so glad Kelly is being loved by you! :o)

Then today Joy sent some beautiful pictures of flowers in her yard. They looked like Kelly would fit right in with the pretty colors!

This is what Joy had to say…

Wanted to get a few pix of the spring flowers before the heatwave hits later this week and next. The colorful ones are Freesias. A friend on our walking route gave me some bulbs a couple of years ago. The other smaller whitish are also freesias, but the smaller variety you see everywhere. They are very fragrant. And the last are the daffodils. None of my pics are the greatest but thought you would enjoy some spring color. The greenery in the background are the weeds I have yet to pull. So many weeds everywhere. Ugh!

Thank you to Dena and Joy for helping me out with your wonderfully colorful pictures!
I will see everyone tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

My goodness, what a Lot of staples to be removed! Glad George is starting to feel better.

Congrats to Deena on getting Kelly. She really is beautiful, and that sweater is just right on her. Now she needs a different outfit to go with it!

Joy, your flowers are amazing! I especially love the multicolor freesias that you have. My colors!!

    1. Joy in northern CA

Thanks on the freesias. You should see the front yard of the woman from whom I received the bulbs. So much color there every year. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Good morning, I will check in later when I am at the dentist, probably when they are printing out my crowns or something…. I am bringing my iPad.
At present, It is dark and raining here.
Dena, your new Kelly is so so happy! Yay I am so glad you have her.
She looks very snappy in her sweater too! I am sure she loves sitting right beside you every day.

Joy, I was thinking about your gardens all day yesterday. I am really glad to see these flowers, they are very delicate and I adore the colors! Wow, just really uplifting to see these this morning.
Yay, I get to drive in the rain in rush hour traffic! My car is really dirty so that is fine๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆ. I hope it is lighter when I leave in a half hour!!!!! I have to run off now. All of you have a super fun day
I will be thinking about dolls and fabric and patterns while I am being numbed up and tortured. Joy, I will be thinking about your flowers too, and all of the happy dolls.

    1. Joy in northern CA

So sorry about the dental work, but hope that it goes well and quickly too. Drive safe.
Thanks so much on the garden. Around here, we all have weed mania this year. Everyone is complaining. They are everywhere.

  3. Sissy Lingle on the GA coast

Deena, Kelly is such a lovely doll, and I am sure she loves the sweet sweater when the air is cool. So happy for you.

Oh, Jeanne, I am so glad George is rid of those 25 staples, wow! I hope he gets better and better! Are you still the chickens mom?

Joy, I love seeing your flowers, especially since they are one that don’t grow in now here in the coast. I do see Freesias and daffodils at the grocery store flower section. I should buy some.

Well, Y’all, this is the 4th time we are off again in the morning, going back to Savannah to get Peyton’s new computer and see if they can get mine back to where it is just mine, and find some of the stuff that is hiding in there some where. Hoping for Rosemary’s time with the dentist will be worth it. It sounds pretty hard and long.

    1. Joy in northern CA

Thanks on my flowers. It is nice to have perennials. And I do hope that the trip to Savannah, results in your computer fixes. So annoying when they aren’t working right.

  4. Marilyn in Colorado

Agreed with Charlotte on those freesias, and they smell as good as they look. My daffodils are up too, but the rest of the yard is brown — at least I think it’s brown, yesterday it was white, though the snow was only 3 or 4 flakes deep. It’s still dark here, so who knows? Compared with brown, Joy’s healthy green weeds look very appealing.

I agree on the staples too. It sounds like George is going to have a very distinctive scar. It may not be in the right place to call it a dueling scar. I was going to say, “Maybe next time” but I hope this completes his need for next times. Good health to you both.

So Kelly has a new home, a new sweater, and her own chair — lucky girl. I love her shoes, and I’m pretty sure Jeanne could duplicate them.

I’ve found a new Native American fashion item — ribbon skirts. I read about them in a mystery called Where They Last Saw Her, and looked them up on Etsy. They seem to be worn by the women of many tribes as a symbol of Native American unity and pride, but someone who knows more might correct that. The original makers and wearers were Metis, because they had access to ribbon from France (the Metis are descended from French voyageours and Native American women). There are a surprising number on Etsy. The design is simple but the sewing has to be precise. Josefina would be a good model, and people with Kayas might like something new.

    1. Linda in St. Louis

You are so right about something new for Josefina and Kaya, Marilyn! I doubt AG will be adding to their wardrobe, and those of us who have them are looking for something that is authentic for their times.

    2. Joy in northern CA

I’ll bet that those daffodils in the snowflakes would be a beautiful sight. It looks like there is going to be a water shortage in a lot of states this year. Not good.
Thanks on the freesias. It’s interesting, but the pale whitish yellow smaller variety that spreads readily, has the most wonderful smell. But, the colorful ones, not so much.
I’ll have to check out the Metis because other person has a very small DNA percentage from his early NY settlers.

So glad the staple thing is over, Jeanne and George! Now let the real healing begin!

Dena, your Kelly looks so pretty in her โ€œspring fairyโ€ costume! Just what we need now! While it was 85 on Monday, it is now in the 30โ€™s again, and I am wishing for pretty spring weather! At least Kelly is bringing the spring vibe with her! And the lovely black sweater is what she needs today around here!๐Ÿ˜Š

Joy, Yur flowers are just beautiful and just what I need to see! While we do have blossoming trees in bloom, and daffodils also blooming, we certainly donโ€™t have freesias here! And all the green! Well, I have to remind myself you live in California, and I donโ€™t!

Thank you both for sending the pictures in to Jeanne, and to give us some hope for an early spring!

    1. Joy in northern CA

Thanks on the freesias. And all of that green needs to go mostly. Or, the weed seeds will be flying everywhere to reproduce again next year. Horrors! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Joy in northern CA

So glad to hear that George’s huge staple removal is completed. What a trooper, and Jeanne, too, with her chicken duty and everything else. ๐Ÿ™‚
I’d forgotten that Susette, had a Kelly. So glad that Dena, sent photos of her enjoying her new home. Her hair looks luscious and the chair a perfect accessory. Hope that her parakeet doesn’t fly the coop. ๐Ÿ™‚ And her sweater is a perfect accessory for those still cool mornings. Anne’s knitting skills still astound me.
How embarassing seeing all of those weeds in the garden. Yikes, better get back on them early today. It’s going to heat up around here a lot soon and being outside in the direct sun, is not for me.
And, I finally tried the sewing pattern I’m not fond of on my Meadow Ady. I ended up deciding to use the full size and not the 90 percent. Because, I’m fearful that the smaller one might be too small and then, I couldn’t take it in if needed. Now, to dig out some fabric from the tubs around here. Of course, that will have to wait until after a walk and weeding.
    Have a great day everyone.

Dear Joy, thanks for sharing the photos of your garden. It is lovely. I am wondering if any of your dolly children snuck out to help you with the garden (smile).

      1. Joy in northern CA

Unfortunately, not one dolly volunteered to come out and start in pulling weeds. They are all lounging around in various spots in the house. Thanks so much on the garden pics. ๐Ÿ™‚

    2. Joy, your flowers are beautiful and so colorful. When you talk about pulling weeds, I see why you do- letting the flowers enjoy their place in the garden. You are a great gardener.
I always like hearing about your neighborhood visiting kitties that you mention from time to time. You are so good to them.i I missed commenting on your kitty cat stories the other day.

  7. Here I am in the dentist chair. Numb as can be.Not suffering at all. I think I even fell asleep for three seconds haha
Jeanne, I hope George is moving around a bit and feeling good. I have been praying for him. I hope he heals comfortably too.
I bet the chickens are calling him โ€œdad, dad , dadddeeeeโ€
Thanks for all the good dental vibes dear ones.

    1. Joy in northern CA

My dentist has tv’s in the ceiling and headphones. It really is nice to watch HGTV while having a cleaning or whatever. I would recommend it to your person. Ha ha. Hope all goes well. ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, prayers continue for George.

What lovely photos you posted today. Joy’s garden is beautiful. And how wonderful that Dena got a special “memory” doll.

    Maypril in three more weeks!

  9. Iโ€™m sure George is at least relieved and more comfortable now that the stitches are out. Hopefully he feels good enough to visit the hens and other things he likes doing.

Thank you Jeanne and Debs for sharing her new doll from SueMae. Iโ€™m happy for her new addition. Kelly is going to enjoy her new home and maybe some other RR friends?

Jeanne, do you know if SueMae is going to sell any of Suzetteโ€™s 28โ€ AMG dolls? Just wondering,

    1. Joy in northern CA

Thanks, Paula, on my flower pics and on the cat escapades around here. Gets kind of crazy sometimes. ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. Kelly looks so cute, Dena. I’m sure you enjoy having her.
Your freesias are beautiful, Joy, and yes, they smell so good. Lovely daffodils as well. Ours are up and in bud. Snow is coming next week. Yesterday was nearly 70. We are in a wild roller coaster.

I’m sure George is glad to have those staples gone.

    1. Joy in northern CA

Sure hope your daffs survive the heat and snow. It’s been a rollercoaster here too. And this weekend, heating up to the 80s and then next week we may hit 90. This may turn out to be the hottest March ever for us. Not what I like to see at all.

  11. Sissy Lingle on the GA coast

We are back with both our computers and they seem to be ok. Lets hope!!
I am glad Rosemary is feeling ok and has a good result when it is over.
Have a great rest of the day, Y’all!

  12. Barbara in SE Texas

I know George is happy to get his staples removed. I had them when I had my hysterectomy and then in my head when I had my car accident. I was glad when they were gone since that meant I was healing nicely. I’ll keep praying for George and Jeanne.

So glad Kelly found a good home and that Dena is enjoying her so much.

Joy, I am totally envious of your lovely Freesias and Daffodils. I can’t grow either here. But then I don’t seem to be able to grow much of anything here. Still have my Yankee ideas on growing things and have never been able to change that for what works here. Not to mention that it’s so hot for so long here I have no inclination to want to be outdoors more than absolutely necessary. Puttering in the garden does not appeal to me at all. Some people here have lovely gardens but they’ve mostly been born and raised here and know what’s what. But I do have a lovely Crepe Myrtle tree and that makes up some for the lack of the other. As for the weeds, well we’re really good at growing them here. I was hoping Skyy would be visiting since this is Spring Break week and he could do some spraying for me, but he chose to join a friend and his family for a trip to Colorado. A great opportunity for him. Guess I’ll have to do my own spraying this time.

  13. Anne Coldron in Christchurch NZ

    Good morning everyone.
So happy that George has his staples removed praying that the healing continues and he doesn’t have to go through it all again. The chickens will be pleased to see him.
Rosemary, I hope the dental work went OK.
Joy, your freesias are lovely. I have the white ones in my garden as well. I guess you have a similar problem to us, the daffodils don’t last very long in the heat. In Uk where the spring is longer and cooler they seemed to last for ages but here they are only in full flower for about one or two days especially if we have a warm/hot spring. I have mine down the side of the garage where they ae in shade all the time so they last a little bit longer. I do love daffies.
My garden has a lot of weeds as well so need to get into it. I have a plant which I think might be one of your weeds, it certainly behaves like one. It has really pretty pinkish/purple flowers in the spring and looks lovely but it self-seeds everywhere and buries everything near it. I saw a plant like it near your freesias which is why I think it might be a weed. I’ll send a photo to Jeanne and see if anyone can identify it for me.
I have almost finished my quilt, just about a metre of binding to go. I wish I hadn’t run out of one of the fabrics because It really needed more blocks in the centre but I couldn’t add them because of the missing fabric. It has turned out overlong and not really wide enough. Even so I love it and would be tempted to keep it for myself if I hadn’t already sent my brother a photo and asked if he wanted it! I another quilt I have started as a Block of the Month, I have made 4 blocks (21 inches sq) and have 4 more to make. They are next on my list to finish, then I am working on another one at a workshop every month with the guild.
    Have a great day everyone

  14. Okay, I can add this tomorrow as well, but today I left the house at 8:00
It was raining. I was gonna wear my cozy winter coat even though it was 60 outside. Hubbs said, “no no, the rain is going to stop and the sun is coming out and it will be warm this afternoon” <- he said that! I grabbed a polar fleece jacket… believing him for some reason….
When I got in the car, and drove off, I was so no awake, I failed to close the garage door, oh well.

I listened to the weather on the radio driving to the dentist (20 minute drive)
and I was informed that the rain was going to continue, and the temps were going to drop to the 30's and windy and SNOW.
I made it into the dentist office.
I got massive servings of novocaine. ๐Ÿ’‰๐Ÿ’‰๐Ÿ’‰๐Ÿ’‰๐Ÿ’‰
I realized then that Dr Ray had planned to do all 4 of my front top teeth (I inherited my mom's crumbling teeth) so I just let him drill away. drill drill drill. Four teeth. Yeah, I will be home in a couple of hours okay.
It was a long day, at lunch time I took a walk around the office to stretch my legs
and looked outside and my car had three inches of snow on it! whaaat?
    I laughed.

So, I was finally able to bust out of that place at 4:30!
I did not get squirmy or antsy, I just kind of got a bit hungry abut noon….
Now I am home and eating a gigantic bowl of oatmeal.
Four crowns! I thought he was gonna do just the side ones. The dentists assistant (she) was amazing, and the dentist assistants' assistant was handsome, oh my goodness ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
Before, my teeth were worn down and crooked. Patched together with numerous white fillings. Now I have pretty nice looking teeth = 8 hours!
I brought hand sewing but I did not feel like doing that, all that novocaine kind of maybe made my head feel tight.. I mostly looked at pinterest, instagram and pictures of quilts and other fabricky things.
So now I have teeth. Yay. Since I laid around all day so I do feel like doing some sewing now…
Thank you for all of the well wishes and good luck. I did not suffer much, except when I stepped out of the dentist door and it was FREEZING outside๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿฅถ
