Hi everyone,
Thank you for your kind suggestions on Felicity’s cap and necklace. I was limited on what I had and felt like I HAD to use something in my stash… but I LOVE the dress so much already and have decided I need to make a trip to Hobby Lobby and look at their beads… as most of you said, maybe something smaller and a better shade of red…the right shade. I may need to search my vintage laces a little more too and see if I can’t come up with something that “WOW” everyone! Since the 4th is going to pass me by on this dress set, there really is no need to make something just because I have it on hand… that goes for the pink ruffled slip too… maybe it’s too much, so that’s on my “to do” list as well…

Hey, I’m not the only one with a Felicity doll dressed for the 4th of July, but not ACTUALLY available on the 4th! Now I feel a little better! :o)
I went to Bithar’s house this afternoon to show her in-person how I make corn casserole. It was the one thing she truly wanted to know how to make before they go to Nebraska for 2 years.
I took all the stuff needed and she videotaped the whole “session” on her phone so she wouldn’t miss a single step. We each made a batch and she was a great student. By doing it in person she discovered why hers tasted different from the ones I bring over to her house from time to time. She didn’t ever melt her butter… just softened it and stirred it in. She was SO excited to know that she has the secret to perfect Corn Casserole for her family. She is already excited to take and share her first batch to the new place in Nebraska where she will be working. :o)
These are the 2 DOUBLE batches that they can eat while they pack… Jean smelled it and came in to see what it was. He was painting the walls in a few rooms before they left.
Here are the kids in the living room, Samuel playing and watching Soccer, and the rest playing on games since their toys are mostly all packed away…
Oh, but wait, here is little Grace in the kitchen with her momma.
Okay, we better get to the title of my post… Yes, it’s time to reveal Anne’s quilt she has been working on! She has the patience of Job I think… It’s BEAUTIFUL Anne! I LOVE the colors of all your many squares! You did a wonderful work of love on it.

Jeanne, I think a trip to Hobby Lobby is the right call. Hopefully you will find something that will add just the right touch to Felicity’s beautiful outfit. I know you are a perfectionist (which I consider to be a good quality!) and want the best and most suitable things to go with each outfit you make.
So nice to see some more pictures of Bithar and the children! Isn’t it interesting that such a simple thing such as melting the butter first can make such a difference in a recipe?! I’m glad Bithar thought to record it, too, to remind her. Otherwise, with all the busy-ness of moving (and just of having a large family!) it might just completely go out of her mind. Been there, done that–a classic example of “I don’t need to write that down–I’ll remember!” Yeah, right.
Anne, your quilt is absolutely gorgeous! It is such a stunning pattern, and I love that you were able to use a wide variety of fabrics in it. I love the back, too–so much more interesting than a plain back! And so nice to see a picture of you and Sam and your friends, too. Thank you for sending them.
Two updates: 1–my tooth is “dying”, which means a root canal. He is sending me to a specialist, and says the procedure is so much easier than it used to be, and they have all kinds of highly specialized equipment, too. But in the meantime, I will be taking antibiotics, because this often starts with an infection in the tooth. MOST of the time, I just have a kind of dull ache, which is quite bearable. I have to be careful chewing, though–even on the opposite side!–because occasionally my teeth will come together just right, and OUCH!!
2–the damage to my car was a little more extensive than first estimated, but the parts have been ordered, and are due in on the 7th, and my car should be done the 10th. Quite a bit later than first anticipated. I’m so glad I still have Ron’s car to drive, as it’s more comfortable for me than an unfamiliar rental car would be!!
Very sorry about the tooth, pain, but glad the fix shouldn’t be too bad. And your car should be great again soon. 🙂
Jeanne, I do think something different would work better for Felicity’s hat, something “frilly” and feminine. The dress itself is kind of dressy and the cap looks more like something she would wear around the house. I’m sure you will be able to fix it so that she has something that goes with the dress more than the one you made, although it is a cute little cap.
Oh, so melting butter does it! Such a simple thing makes a difference! I enjoyed seeing the pictures of Bithar and Jean’s children, my how they have grown!
The Ruby Red doll, Felicity is cute enough, but not for me! I have Sara, and Sara would never wear anything like that outfit! It is more of a costume to me. I just love Sara’s face with her sweet smile, but will never again consider getting a ball jointed doll. I wish the Ruby Red dolls had fewer joints, which I am sure is strange to most of you, because you actually LIKE the extra joints! Oh well, to each her own!
Oh Anne, what a beautiful quilt! How nice it looks on the bed, and covers it so well! Is this machine quilted? That is a good idea to make the back with various pieces which makes it reversible!
Love seeing your gathering, and I recognized you right off the bat! You never seem to age! Thank you for sending the pictures to Jeanne and to Jeanne for showing them!
I completely agree with you on the RRed Felicity outfit. I think the outfit top, anyway, should be worn by an older teen maybe. And yes, a costume, not a sweet dress or shorts for summer. I do like the doll though. 🙂
I meant to say that I wasn’t demeaning the outfit, it just is not anything I can use with my dolls, but it didn’t sound right after I posted it, and I didn’t mean to hurt anyone’s feelings if they liked it.
I agree. Too many joints makes dressing the dolls a challenge. The population at my house has been reduced to one, a very early limited edition from France.
It seems as if two AG dolls have inspired this new doll. The name Felicity, the doll who represents 250 years ago, and Molly’s victory outfit.
I am not sure if we are too old or not Linda but I don’t like the outfit either. I agree with you about too many joints but didn’t know that I wasn’t keen if that makes sense. Once you put it into words I realise that that was an issue for me.

Yesterday I read 97º on my screened in porch thermometer. Kitty Princess loves it outside and lays on all the chairs, and tables and comes in every 10 to coax us outside.
I am putting a fresh water bowl out there every day. Our “little mouse” needs to hydrate.
I am looking forward to an update from Joy.
Jeanne, you are focusing on so many things lately. I love Hobby Lobby. I wish we could go together. Once I am inside that store, I could easily spend an hour, at least.
We have a store about 20 minutes away. I do love Felicity’s new dress very very much.

Rosemary, I used 2 and a half inch squares for the coloured blocks and 4 inch squares for the cream ones which make a big 16 inch block (without seam allowances). When I made it for the BOM at guild I used 2 and 3 inch squares which made a 12 inch block.

Nothing more celebratory than seeing the corn casseroles completed and a lovely family on their phones/computer. The family has certainly come a long way and acclimated to the U.S. It’s the way it should be, and I so hope that Bithar’s green card comes to fruition soon. We so need nurses. I will miss seeing the family on Jeanne’s blog.
My eyes popped when I saw Anne’s quilt. I love it. The colors are perfect and the little squares look like jewels. Such a masterpiece with all of that stitching, binding, and complete perfection. Wow! And how fun to see her coffee group too. I’ll bet that everyone has a great time at the get togethers.
Yesterday, we worked hard at the other house doing cutting, hedge trimming, and playing with Coco the cat. When we returned, I spotted a box on the porch as we drove into the driveway. I grabbed my tools and hoped that other person would start unloading the truck, but I had no luck at all. There was nowhere to hide the box, out in plain sight, so I grabbed the box and stood in front of it. Not a very clever idea at all because other person, was right behind me and spotted it immediately. Even though it contained smaller dolls, it looked about the same size as the usual doll box, so, I couldn’t come up with anything to say at all. I just took the box inside, and there it remains until I can have some alone time. Didn’t hear anything else about it. 🙂 I hope to get a few pictures and maybe a comparison shot with the bigger girls to send to Jeanne soon.

For my weed sharing friends, I spent the latter part of the day yesterday here, pulling spurge and blind weed. Two that are the worst pests. Well, blackberry is actually worse, but I did clean up one area anyway. Now, I can figure out what we’ll be doing for the Fourth of July. 🙂
UGH I HATE spurge and blind weed too. Spurge is disgusting.
We have a lot of that at our old house along my gardens, but so far, none here…. I bet that was tiresome work.

Every time Bithar makes the corn casserole she will think of Jeanne. Making memories is the best send off. I know you have many to treasure over the years. Blessings and prayers for your busy week. Felicity’s dress is just lovely and does not signal patriotic holiday wear. I think it will be a happy addition to a fall wardrobe for Felicity and a nice compliment to Kirsten’s school dress in red. I agree that the tulle slip is too much for this beautiful dress.

We are in the 100’s everyday this week and a severe drought. We will stay indoors were it will be cooler and watch the fireworks on television.

Had an interesting PT visit yesterday. It was evaluation day. On my first visit I could not walk the required six minutes even with a cane. Yesterday I walked for the six minutes and could have gone further, and I did it while chatting with the therapist so I passed this time with flying colors. Then I asked to use a piece of equipment that I knew would benefit my abductor muscle recovery. I was amazed at how well I did the first time and that I had little aftereffects from doing it since it was pretty intense. I slept well last night with no problems at all. I usually struggle a bit with sleeping and recovery after a PT session but not this time. But I still don’t feel confident enough to walk without my cane. Hopefully soon.

Hi everyone,
My hubby was scheduled to have surgery to have his Nephrostomy tubes that were put in his back and into his kidneys, 5 weeks ago, replaced and stents put inside the tubes and then run through his ureters and down to his stoma. Sometime last night his right kidney stopped working. (It had always been the one with the most output.) We don’t know what happened, but nothing was coming out… at all. His drain bag was dry as a bone. He started hurting back in his right kidney area and at 1:00 a.m. we got dressed and came to the Emergency room. They did a Cat Scan and said there was a blockage and hydrophenosis was setting in. Swelling of the kidney again.
His surgery was actually scheduled for 9:30 this morning, but the one kidney decided it couldn’t wait and wanted to come to the hospital 7 hours or so earlier! So we waited in the ER till 9:00am this morning and then moved us to a holding bay, waiting for the dr to get here. After looking at the CT Scan, the doctor is going to replace just the tubes, like he did 5 weeks ago, since he has an infection and his kidney is so swollen right now and we come back in 2-3 weeks and try to do the surgery they were supposed to do today. He is in surgery now!
Just wanted to let you know and covet your prayers…

Oh Jeanne, thank you so much for keeping us informed. I’ve been wondering about the next surgery. I’m sure the antibiotics will get rid of the infection quickly. My thoughts are with you both. Hope you can find a hotel for the night and get some rest. Don’t want to drive being so tired and without proper sleep.

The surgery today was done here in town with the Interventional Radiologist team. We decided to do it here because it “could” be done here and saved us a 3 hr trip to St. Louis.
Oh, that relieves my fears a lot. Thinking of you both!

Thank you everyone for the lovely comments, Marilyn, the pattern is Arkansas Crossroads and it is a pretty simple pattern. I put the quilted blocks together using Monica Poole’s 1 to 1 method, (she has lots of YouTube videos demonstrating her QAYG techniques). The one I have just finished used the Joining Strip method which is the original QAYG I used, long before YouTube but she demonstrates that method too. I just have to do the binding then I will send a photo of that one too.
Congratulations on USA winning their game and moving into the round of 16. They will be playing Belgium next. England won their game (not very convincingly) and will be meeting Mexico next. They will have to play better than they did yesterday to win that game.
