A few more quilts courtesy of Anne

Hi everyone,
Anne sent me some pictures of some beautiful quilts and I thought you’d be disappointed if I didn’t share them with you.

Tomorrow I have some pictures from Charlotte to share….thank you ladies, for helping me out so much! I truly appreciate it.

This is what Anne shared:

These are some of the quilts from Symposium 2026. If we want to share photos online we have to agree to acknowledge the maker.
The snow leopard is thread painting by machine. There is another one later using the same technique. It is way out of my league, I don’t have the mastery of machine sewing to achieve this level of skill.

Anne thinks the lady who did the snow leopard may have done this next quilt.

When I showed my hubby this quilt picture on my phone, he wanted me to zoom in on the Schnauzer and said, “It looks just like Reuben!” Thank you Anne… that made his night!!

Thanks Anne… what wonderful quilted pieces!! Thanks for sharing them.

See everyone tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Wow wow wow!! What fabulous quilts! Thank you so much for sharing these pictures, Anne. Some of them are very powerful, some are so touching, all are truly works of art! The snow leopard is absolutely stunning. I think my favorite, though, is the first one, with the birds. It is just so lovely!!

Well, yesterday I wrote a comment on Sissy’s lovely shell arrangements, and tonight it wasn’t there. I have no idea what happened but I am going to copy my post and come back and check, and make sure it shows up tonight, and maybe even email it to Jeanne, to jake sure it gets seen!! Sissy, your shells are lovely, and you’ve arranged them so artistically. I love your Caladium leaf candleholders that you made, too.

Thank you, Jeanne, for keeping the blog going, even though I know you have your hands full right now, and we really appreciate your efforts, and all the pictures and things that others have sent in to help you out.

We at Grace Baptist continue to pray for you and George.

Wow, Anne, what a gorgeous display! I can’t imagine the skill, dedication and patience it took to do these quilts! I’m wondering jjst what one is supposed to do with these? Are tney basically wall hangings or do they go on a bed?

Each one is Beajtiful in its own way, but I love the one with the Schnauzer! The snow leopard picture is also a winner to me! I love the soft colors!

All of them deserve a blue ribbon to me!

I was wondering what happened to you yesterday, Charlotte. I kept waiting on you to write, but you never did, so I went first. Glad to hear it wasn’t anything like you being sick. Michael’s cataract surgery went well yesterday and today we go for the follow-up.

Praying for George, and hope he is doing well, Jeanne!

  3. Wow, dear Sofa friends, the blog was full of you yesterday! I was too late yesterday to tell you all how much I loved your kind words about my fun with my shells. I am just floored that you liked them so much! You really made my day, and now I look at them I think of you all and your kindness. Thank you, Thank you.

Anne, those quilts are just amazing! I would guess they are pictures to hang up and admire. I love the dog and the leopard! However, I would really prefer your lovely quilt on my bed!! Thank you for sharing them.

We are off to the Y again this am, hoping that hurricane will go away soon.
Will check Y’all again later, have a good morning!

  4. Stunning work!
Anne, thank you for sharing these masterpieces- just incredibly so well done! I love all of them and can not pick a favorite, but the one with Reuben might be my tip top favorite. Hi puppy!! 🐢😘 Quilt and art shows, and well, all shows, are very inspiring and shocking. There are some massively brilliant people out there!

I think I should go back and read yesterdays comments. I must have missed a bunch of them as I got distracted later in the day.
Yes Sissy, you are the shell artist.
I should ask Christina my daughter if she has any samples of Jason’s Auntie’s shell art just to show you how superior your work is!

Today I am gonna sew all day. πŸ₯³πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ§΅ well, first I will drive out to pickup hubby’s meds at CVS, they were not ready yesterday and I thought… well I think I mentioned yesterday?? that I was going to go to the pet store and use some coupons for kitty litter, and zip by Wegmans- I have not been to that store in ages!

Yes Sissy the hurrrricane is coming – unless it changes it’s mind and finds a place to twirl around and sneak off in a wild direction!
The days will be grey and drab. Please turn on all of your lights to help you stay out of the “low air pressure spell”
    Love to all of you

  5. Okay: responding to Elizabeth in Texas regarding HOA. Oh my. Your HOA sound terrible. I am shocked. We have lived in an HOA for many years, various neighborhoods.
They are unrelenting and ridiculous. When they discover something, that’s it!
I hope you can get help keeping up the little things,. We had a corner lot for our old house (just sold in July) and we had the trees with low branches and the trash cans not put away properly. All of us neighbors would always have an understanding because we all felt the same about the picky rules that we would never complain to HOA, just so we understood it was not any of us that were complaining.
Anyway, the neighbors got fined! many many many times for putting their trash cans out too early. So weird, like all of us really cared about cans.

Well, they came to inspect the house before we sold it (we had already recently replaced the termite infested fence πŸ˜‚) so it made the property look super and probably distracted them from other stuff. Still they found weird stuff on the property that actually CAME with the house when it was built! …. weirdos.
They never saw the rippled plastic siding, thank goodness… or the cracked siding.
    They are like “overlords”.
Trust me, you are not alone with hostility to the HOA.

Oh, what a beautiful morning. From pets to wildcats, world issues, and circling birds in a dizzying display. The artwork was incredible and the imagination flowing. My favorite, the birds circling for its intricate work and coloring. Thanks so much Jeanne and Anne for sharing today.
After all the great pics today, the little witch felt hat I’ve been trying to complete seems so trivial, but I did manage to get the edge stitched with that black on black thread that is about impossible for me to see any more. Hopefully, no one looks closely. I did finally plunk it on a piece of white paper which really helped me see where to stitch. Next, getting the brim pinned to the top and sewing that in tight quarters. Not sure if there will be any time today to work on it though. With the weather so hot lately, I haven’t gotten much done in the yard, but today, is the last hot one. Then, we’re in for much cooler weather of which I’ll probably be complaining about going back to jeans instead of shorts.
It is Fleet Week in SF, so the Blue Angels are around practicing. We did hear them overhead, but didn’t catch a glimpse as they flew over our county.
So fun to see the pics shared by everyone. Keep it up. And Jeanne, stay healthy, and I hope that George is feeling well.

Joy, a little tip about sewing on black fabric/felt: Use a very dark something-else-colored thread! For instance, dark purple or dark green. Under strong light, You will be able to see it, but it won’t “shout” to the casual observer!

Thank you Rosemary for sharing your HOA experiences! I’m glad I am not alone in my thoughts about HOA’s! It took every ounce of my well-being to not sound off and “spit nails” in my email to the HOA the other day. I told my daughter, I did NOT apologize though, for the fast-growing grass due to the non-stop rain we had for days on end. You can’t fight with what mother nature gives you to deal with.

I merely stated to them: I am 77 years old and cannot do mowing and my daughter works 5 days a week…..so we have a lawn person who does a great job Mondays thru Fridays. When it is not raining cats and dogs. I am disappointed that our lawn did not meet with your expectations so soon after this much rain.

I did wonder how many other neighbors had received notices about their lawns and were given 12 days to comply or else be fined. The house directly across from ours had his lawn service out a day after the notices went out….and he always keeps a tidy lawn and landscaping. But the two-story home next to his always has overgrown grass, turned off their sprinkler system, and I think they removed the bushes that came with the house so they wouldn’t have to deal with them! I’ve considered removing all of the grass and doing a southwest type of stone, no-maintenance landscaping in the front yard, but we would probably be FINED for that and not complying with the “grass rules”!

Moving past the HOA madness….I hope you have a wonderful day sewing, as you mentioned!! I haven’t had breakfast yet so will go have brunch and then work on the latest art project! The sun is shining, the yard looks neat, and today is a wonderful new day to work on hobbies!

And thank you Jeanne, for posting the beautiful quilt photos! I too have wondered what people do to display them…if they hang them on a wall or use them on a bed. I wouldn’t want to wash them often so would probably hang such artistic endeavors on a wall to enjoy all the time.

  8. Hi Sofa Sisters! Thank you, Joy and Anne, for the well wishes. My daughter is on the mend. Much better than the time last week. πŸ™‚
Another set of beautiful and thought provoking quilts. My favorite is the birds. Such intricate quilting. Then the puppy.

  9. Anne Coldron in Christchurch NZ

The quilts were amazing weren’t they? Jeanne, as soon as I saw the schnauzer I thought of Rueben! There were a lot of bed quilts on display but whilst they were wonderful and beautifully made, it is usually wall hangings that can make a statement or show someone’s heartfelt feelings. The ‘United for Peace’ quilt I chose as my ‘Viewers Choice’. If you would like to see more quilts, Sam has some different ones on her phone. Unfortunately, I don’t think she photographed the blurb that went with them but we won’t tell anyone will we?

Elizabeth, I suspect HOA committees attract petty tyrants who enjoy the power they have over other people. I have seen, online, people claiming an HOA demolished their house and they actually weren’t even under them! That surely couldn’t happen, could it? Yours does certainly seem unreasonable to put it politely. Something I do when I am really angry is write the letter I really want to write but I don’t send it!

Only 12C today. Apparently it will be warmer from Sunday. Tomorrow is the last Alice’s Wonderland quilt class. I am hoping to finish the borders next week then just the binding. I have so many things I need to do before Christmas in fact before the end of November I am starting to feel panicked.
    Have a good day everyone

What absolutely beautiful quilts. Thanks so much, Anne, for sharing. I love them all but the one of the three women really got my attention. The Snow Leopard is amazing. So much detail. The first quilt I would love to have in my home.

I have to share what happened yesterday at my massage therapy session. A few weeks ago when I was there for a massage my therapist mentioned that my left leg was not lined up with my right leg as it should be due to my hips not being properly aligned. Yesterday he asked me if my leg was now where it should be naturally or was I doing it and if so did it hurt. I told him that it was where it was on its own and I had nothing to do with it. He was so pleased. I think he’s coming to the conclusion that my chiropractor is a miracle worker. I’m good with that.
