Just a quick REMINDER:

HI everyone,
I had several ladies send me pictures of their dolls in their Valentine’s Day dresses! You are in for a sweet treat today!
First up are some dolls from Sissy… These are all dresses she made and has already sold…
They are shown on the My Meadow dolls… and she can answer any questions you may have about them…
Aren’t they adorable????
Next up are some dolls from Debbie in N.C. She has her dolls set up in a glass case and they look mighty fine! It’s all about Valentine’s Day, as you’ll see!
Hi Jeanne,
I am sharing the photos of my dolls dressed for Valentine’s Day. My dolls do not have near the fun of Linda’s dolls as once they are dressed they stand like soldiers waiting for the seasons to change.
The Little Darlings are loving pink and red this year. I have finally completed my collection of these dolls. They clamor the most for new outfits because they look good in everything!
Mary Poppins has always been my favorite Disney movie character. I just can’t resist putting her out in February.
These are the most recent additions to my American Girl collection – Blaire and Caroline – Kit, Kirsten, and Felicity did not get dressed in time for the party!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Debbie
Thank you Debbie! What a feast for the eyes!
Susette sent me some pictures as well! Yay! LOTS of dolls to look at!
She made this first dress 9 years ago for her granddaughter, Riya. She was just 5 years old at the time… Now, Susette says she’s 14 and dolls aren’t a thing with her anymore… (Maybe she’ll come back to them later in life… LIKE WE ALL DID!)
She also made the second dress… both for Valentine’s Day!
This isn’t a Valentine’s dress, BUT it’s PINK… so it’s allowed!!! :o)
And this is one of Susette’s favorites… so it’s allowed too! :o) I think that is one of the best made outfits AG ever made… I just sold that one!
Here are a few more that are for Valentine’s Day…
Riya also plays the bass which is quite a bit larger than this 🎻 violin that’s pretending to be a bass.
Molly is having a friend over for a Valentines Day tea party.
Molly and Kit getting ready for the Valentines Day Dance. The formal gowns I made from the remnants I won in your drawing years ago. That was such fun and an inspiration to get me sewing. (Susette, you did a FABULOUS job of making a couple outfits from the pieces I sent you!)
One more look in the mirror.
I received another picture from the winner of Noel’s last Valentine dress set… Now she has two!! Thank you!!
Well, thank you ladies… for all your help with Valentine’s Day dolly dresses!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh my goodness, what a SWEET collection of dolls we have today! A feast for the eyes!
Before i forget, Joy, I replied to you about my sink in yesterdays blog.
Well, Sissy, how in the world can you say good by to those darling creations? I especially love the picture of the twodolls together in red and white, like a big and little sister pose, and just love those dresses! Do you use hankerchief’s for the aprons? So sweet and dainty! And the bows on their hair just top them off like cherries!
Debbie, your LD dolls are so beautifully displayed at your home! Why, it looks like an exclusive doll shop! I love all the pink, ruffles and hats. plus the red and white! Are those Madame Alexander dolls in the second picture? Blaire and Caroline look wonderful in their Valentine dresses! I especially love those eyelet aprons! Did you make those dresses?
Susette, I just knew you had some wonderful pictures, and those dresses you made are truly one of a kind! The musical notes dress is among one of my favorites, and that picture of Molly with her beautiful silver tea service is perfect for Valentine’s Day! Congrats on getting the new ski set and skating outfit! I absolutely love seeing Molly and Kit getting ready for their party! Did you have a pattern for Molly’s gown? It is just perfect!
What a sweet surprise to see that the winner of Noel’s first dress also won the second dress! Is she lucky or what?
Happy Valentine’s Day to all the sofa Sisters, and especially to Jeanne, who brought us together!
Thank you so much, Linda, for your kind words. I save the photos and enjoy looking at them, but, while your dollie fun is making your wonderful scenes, mine is sewing the outfits. I don’t mind selling them, seeing the pleasure the recipients get from them is very awarding. Yes, I make the hankie pinnies from vintage hankies. These are getting harder to find in the Swiss embroidered ones, and more expensive. They are fragile, so I sew them by hand. I love to hand sew, too.
Thank you Linda! Yes, those are Madame Alexander dolls in the second picture. I have a small collection that represent characters that my daughter performed when she was a child. The MA Lissy face and size fits nicely with my Little Darlings. My American Girls have mostly seamstress made clothing. I don’t think my skill level ever matched any of these makers or any of you.
Debbie, I have two Lissy dolls. They are lovely but it’s hard to find clothes for them or even patterns. I’ve tried the 12″ Shirley Temple patterns but they take some alterations to fit nicely. I’ve done research and it seems the Lissy dolls were popular but maybe not so much anymore. Did you make the outfit on your doll?
What a treat, having all these lovely dolls to see!!
Sissy, your My Meadow dresses are just lovely. I really like the pastel pink/blue pair, in the next-to-last of your pictures, but I think my favorite is the very last one, where the apron has the bluebirds on the skirt.
Debbie, your dolls are so pretty–as Laura said, your displays look like they are in an exclusive doll shop! The dresses are all so pretty and feminine–and what a treat to see Mary Poppins!!
Susette, your dolls are so beautifully displayed. My favorite of Molly’s dresses is the one where she’s playing the “bass”. The evening gowns are fabulous, too! And Jeanne, one of these days I’ll get April (or Molly?) in that skating outfit and take her picture!
So happy to see those two outfits Jeanne made and Noelle modeled. They do look like “sister” outfits on the dolls!
Thank you, Charlotte! It is fun to find those fabrics with the old fashioned pictures on them. I have some for Easter too. I have to cut them up so much to get the pictures right that they look full of holes after I make a few outfits.
Thanks Charlotte! I bought the cabinet when we relocated to North Carolina due to the sand that comes in the house through the windows and doors. They call this area the Sandhills for good reason.
Madame Alexander’s rendition of Mary Poppins is my favorite. This one is very special with the penguins. I also have the one in the blue coat but she did not make the pink and red theme.
Debbie and Susette, I love seeing your dolls. I do feel a bit sad for mine, since they don’t get to have much fun, so I don’t let them see your photos! Debbie, your doll cabinet is wonderful, all that glass to see them in! And Susette, so many lovely scenes! The silver services look a lot like the one I have from my grandmother! All the dresses you made are fabulous, especially the red dance dresses. Wow, from remnants! Thank y’all for sharing!
Well, Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone! What a fabulous showing of photos today. So fun and festive.
All of the outfits made by Sissy are remarkable. Just perfect. I have some of the pinafore fabric with the birds and have been trying to figure out how to make something with it. The pinafore gives me inspiration for sure. 🙂
I hope the dolls around here don’t see Debbie’s Dolls, because they will be so very jealous of the delightful displays. Like Charlotte said, doesn’t Debbie’s Dolls sound like a place we’d all like to shop? I can’t decide on which outfits/dolls I like the most as they are all beautiful, but I really enjoyed seeing the AG girls in their terrific Valentine’s attire.
I really enjoyed seeing all of the photos sent by Susette. The outfits are so fun and the display scenes great entertainment. I do love the red Valentine’s dance dresses so much. I’m sure the girls had a wonderful time.
How fun to see both of Jeanne’s dresses on the winner’s dolls. Perfect together.
Hope everyone has a great today. Happy Valentine’s Day everyone.
Thank you Joy! I do like wandering in the doll room just to admire all of these beauties. Today I just might dress my two remaining RRFF, Rebecca and Constance, and call it an Easter display!
What a collection to brighten our day! Amazing little dresses for the My Meadow, thankfully not a category I collect or they would certainly want dresses like yours Sissy.
Susette, your American Girls are perfect for these winter months – skating, skiing, and Valentine’s Day. Those gowns are amazing, beautiful fabrics and designs. Fun displays. Thank you for sharing.
Jeanne, thanks for sharing the festive photos!
Thank you, Debbie. I love your dolls, it is fun to see others that we do not collect.
I’m still finishing up Christmas dresses – 1 more to go and then on to Easter, but seeing all these beautiful Valentine Dresses makes me wish I had allowed time to sew for Valentine’s Day. I’ll move that up my “to do” list in time for next year.
Sissy, it’s not hard to see why your things sell like they do. Not only are you a good seamstress but you are very creative with your use of fabrics and trims. And finding the wonderful handkerchiefs is definitely an added plus. I really wish I had all the beautiful hankies my sisters and I bought my grandmother over the years. When I visited I loved to take them out and go through them. Have no clue what happened to them. Your Meadow dolls are so cute and look adorable in all the outfits you made.
Debbie, unless I’m actually doing a photo shoot, my dolls get dressed and stand around either awaiting their turn for a new outfit or the next holiday they already have a dress for. I do have a few that have Valentine dresses but this holiday crept up on me quicker than expected. Maybe I’ll have time to change them today. They are few. Did you make all the dresses? I have the pattern for the dress with the smocking but have not made it yet. I love the border print dress. Your AG girls look so lovely. Your Mary Poppins fits in so well with the Valentine Theme.
Susette, how nice you got to sew for Riya’s dolls. The dresses are all so lovely. I remember the gowns for Molly and Kit. What you did with the pieces of fabric was amazing. And I love the pictures in the bedroom. They look so real. Great picture of your AG and her trophies. I have the snowboarding outfit for my Wellie. Those outfits are very well made. Sadly we do grow out of our “doll” phase. Some of us eventually return to it but have none of our dolls anymore. At the time I gave mine to my younger sisters I just assumed that phase of my life was over and it didn’t matter and for years I had the real thing. I wish I could have kept my Toni doll and I had a beautiful ballerina doll whose feet could move so she actually posed with pointed toes. I found a Toni doll of the right era on eBay but I never could find a doll like my ballerina and I can’t remember who made her. My sister had a MA ballerina doll but her feet did not move and I know mine wasn’t a MA.
I got a notice the other day from Magalie Dawson that there is now a Little Darling Sculpt #5. And I thought my LD collection was complete.
Happy Valentine’s Day to Jeanne and all my sofa sisters. With church tonight we won’t be doing much Valentine’s celebrating, but we did get a cupid cake from Dairy Queen to have after we get home.
Barbara, that Lissy doll in my photo is called “Forever Darling Lissy” she comes in that dress and is available all the time on the eBay. You are right, Lissy’s are pretty rare, I only have two.
I don’t sew at all anymore so I am always on the hunt for clothes for my dolls. The Little Darlings are my current favorite. Just when I decided not to buy anymore there is a sculpt 5!
Enjoy the remainder of your day!
Thank you, Barbara! I saved some of my mother’s and grandmother’s hankies and added more to make a valence for my bedroom.
Happy Valentine’s day to all the Sofa Sisters!! ❤️💕❤️
Those dresses are just darling, Sissy, Love those big hair bows and the shoes on your bigger girl. Then the next one with the tiny puppy is precious. The bluebird pinafore is the sweetest I’ve seen.
What a delightful display, Debbie, and the perfect cabinet to showcase them in. Your LDs are so sweet and Mary Poppins is lovely. So nice to see you have Caroline also. I think she is one of the most stunning dolls AG ever made. Blaire and she look so pretty in eyelet.
What fun your dolls are having, Susette. Love that musical note dress you made.
Skiing and skating are certainly perfect winter activities and A concert is always welcome. I see you have Samantha’s and Felicity’s party treats also. Those are my favorites as well.
Kit and Molly look fabulous and will certainly have a full dance card. You did a super job on those dresses.
How fun the same person won both of Noel’s sets. The dolls look so cute.
Thank you Laura! I had fun setting them up for the month of February. I agree, Caroline is a stunner! It took me years to find a first issue that was new and affordable. I was not collecting when they were first released so all of mine have come from the secondary market. I have made up for lost time in the last few years. LOL
Thank you, Laura, I love sewing for my dolls, that is my fun.
Dear Jeanne, thank you for sharing these lovely photos.
Dear Sofa Sisters, your girls are adorable. They could easily be in a Valentine’s Day parade!
Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone!
Thank you, Sofa Sisters, for your kind comments on my dolls. I’m always so happy to see your dolls, too. Sissy, your dresses are darling! Love the aprons and pinafores. Those must be children’s handkerchiefs to have the lace all the way around. You are quite the designer and you’ve made so many. Thanks for sharing.
Debbie’s dolls are so beautifully showcased. So many pretty faces and elegant dresses. Each dress has such unique details and the fabrics are so delicate. Quite a beautiful collection in such a pretty case.
I usually stick to a pattern but had to use pieces from willsus@aol.comdifferent pattern pieces to design the formals. I have a picture somewhere of the tiniest scraps I had left over from the bundle Jeanne sent. Maybe we could see what someone else can come up with if you have another drawing for small bits of fabrics and trims, Jeanne. It was fun.
Krish, 11, and Riya, 14, play the piano very well now and just got a Baby Grand Yamaha Disklavier piano. It looks like the American Girl grand piano. I’ll look up pictures with the AG one next time we share pictures. Thanks again for sharing your wonderful pictures.
Thank you, Susette, for the kind words about my outfits. As for the hankies, they are the 10 or 11 inch Swiss embroidered hankies. They are getting hard to find and too expensive. They are very fragile so I sew the pinnies by hand.
That was a lovely Valentine’s show. Everyone was lovely, but I especially liked Kit and Molly looking glamorous. They don’t get to do that every day.
