How could moving a rug almost stop me from writing a post?

Let me just start off by saying Good Grief!! I just wanted to switch the rug in the guest room to the living room and put the one in the living room in the guest room. All was going well until I tried to get the curled up rug in the guest under the bed posts.

Somehow I tripped and fell and landed face down on the plank flooring. I don’t know how, but I ended up with a skinned up nose, my knee and elbow were scraped, and even my big toe. But the worst was my right hand and wrist. I scraped the side of it and it was very painful. I thought I could shake it off, but about 2:00 I had to call the doctor and see if they could fit me in. They did and I got a couple xrays to see if the side of my hand was fractured. I was the last one out of there and all the doctors had gone home so they scheduled me to come back tomorrow.

If I lay my phone down on the table, I can type with one finger. This is a sorry excuse for a post, but I’m done.

You can all talk about whatever you want…

See you,
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, poor Jeanne!! You certainly didn’t need an injury (particularly of your Right hand!!) to add to all the rest that’s on your plate just now. I am so sorry you did that; I can tell you from experience, doing things one-handed (even if it Is your dominant hand, and in your case, you’ll be having to do things left-handed for a while–I assume you’re right-handed?) is neither easy nor fun. I do hope whatever the damage is, it’s easily fixable, and I hope they gave you something for the pain (and bandaged it well) so you can sleep tonight. You are both in my prayers.

Well, I have two bits to tell you, so this will start the conversation rolling, I guess. Hm, maybe three bits.

1–Saturday is 4H entry day at our local fair, and I will be judging sewing and needlework again this year. I had arranged for our friend Jon to come over and stay with Ron for a while so I could go, not knowing that by this time Ron would be in an adult family home, which leaves me free to go, and releases Jon from coming over.

2–Ron called me tonight and wanted me to bring his blood pressure cuff to him–he was feeling “funny”. I told him to press the button around his neck and they would come and take it for him faster than I could get there. He hung up, and wouldn’t take any more calls from me (pouting….90, going on 3, I do believe! LOL). I did take it to him, and the caregivers were so surprised to see me!! Had he pushed the button? No….. His blood pressure was, of course, absolutely fine. As usual!

3–SOMEONE is getting a new dolly!! 😁 Three guesses who?! I have ordered the Ruby Red “Diana”; she is so beautiful! I’m looking forward to getting her, although I’m not sure when she’s coming, but I know others have already gotten her, so I’m assuming it’ll be pretty soon.

I can sure understand the call from Ron. We used to get calls from my step mother telling me to come quickly as my dad wouldn’t do as she wanted. Of course, it was the middle of the night. I would ask if a caregiver was there. Yes. I even had to call the director in the middle of the night one time to check up. Everything was fine except step mother was losing it. I think they finally had to take her phone away. Good call on telling him to buzz a caregiver. I’m sure he was just missing your wonderful caregiving and you too.
Congrats on Diana! I finally had time to open mine yesterday, and she is now one of my favorites. Delightful in every way. You’ll love her. 🙂

Dear Charlotte, I think that your husband is missing you. It is natural for him to turn to you as that is what he has always done and he doesn’t know the new medical staff yet.

I am sure that you have already thought of this but maybe you can get into a routine with him that you visit or call at certain times so that he knows he will hear from you. Maybe you could end the last call by saying that tomorrow we will talk about xyz. Maybe that will give him something to think about over night.

I am happy that you are involved with the 4H judging as I know you enjoy doing that.

  2. Oh Jeanne,
I am so sorry about your injury. I’ll be praying for your quick recovery.

I hope your hubby is regaining his strength and he feels better every day.

Charlotte, I am so glad for you about your new doll. You are right, Ruby Red
Dianna is so sweet and beautiful.

Of course, Jeanne, was redecorating. I’m sure it was a great idea. So sorry about the slip, slide, and injuries. Maybe you blacked out for a bit too. Very glad you were able to get some x-rays. Let us know when you see the results. Concerned. Will you be able to manage on your own? or perhaps someone can come and help out for awhile? Seems like a lot to do at your place one handed.
    Get well soon.

Holy moly…you certainly didn’t need that fall to complicate your life! 🥲Did you scare George? Ask for help if you need it…that congregation you belong to and friends can help. If it isn’t broken try some Salon pas with Lidocaine…or Aspercream with Lidocaine …or Voltaran. Your “old” doll friends have tried them all.🤭 ice of course too . 🙏🏻🙏🏻 will double the prayers for you!
Charlotte….Hope Ron will learn to ask his new helpers when he has a need. It will take awhile to get him used to depending on the helpers at the facility and not you for everything

Jeanne, I am so sorry to hear about your fall. That’s not good at any time but especially right now. Is there someone who can come and lend a hand for a few days maybe at least with things like feeding and watering the chickens? Or maybe some home health care service to help with hubby? Any pain at all makes it hard to do things. Continuing prayers for you and George. Let us know the results of the additional doctor visit. You’re actually a good one-finger typist.

Charlotte, you made me realize what an adjustment this must be for Ron. After a while pushing the call button will probably be routine but you have been his go-to nurse for quite a while now and his comfort zone. I’m so glad you got him in the location closest to you. It sounds like a nice place with caring and understanding people. And congratulations on your new doll “Diana”. I do not have her, but I saw her picture and she is beautiful.

I just saw where my Linda McCall should be arriving tomorrow. Just in time for the splash party. Everyone else is suited up and ready to go for a swim. You’re not going to believe this pool. I just hope I haven’t overcrowded it with my exuberance. It’s for 18″ dolls but my swimmers are all RRFF size and smaller so there should be plenty of room.

    1. Joy in northern CA

Oh, now I’m excited! Can’t wait for the Splash Party. Another swim suit arrived today for my Ruby Reds, so they will be all ready to party. The party here will be when I get the pool together. Not as nice as I think yours will be. 🙂

I’m excited to see what you think. With this summer heat (we have a huge dome moving in over us soon) I think any pool would be great. But if you’re curious, my pool pattern came from Matilda Jo. She used to sell on Pixie Faire which was where I got my pool pattern a few years ago but she’s on her own now. She also has cute pool things like a unicorn tube, etc. I have those patterns but haven’t made them yet. Those and maybe a diving board are on the proposed agenda for next year. A ladder might be helpful too since everyone is going to wonder how they got into the pool without a ladder. Imagination?

  5. Dear Jeanne, Sending healing thoughts your way for your injuries. Hoping you’re all better soon. I injured my knee trying to power spray my white fence a few years ago. The doctor said I would need a knee replacement. I stayed off it for a very long time and prayed. Some how it got better. So no more fence cleaning for me. When I was young I could move around furniture and do so much outdoor work. Now that I’m in my 70’s I realize heavy or awkward lifting movements could have a bad effect on me. 💗🥰💗

Dear Jeanne, oh my goodness. I am so sorry to hear this news.

We Sofa Sisters would like you to take a few days off and get better. I know that you will be taking off on Saturday and Sunday. Maybe you should take off a few days next week.

We can all take off and go on imaginary trips (or actual ones) somewhere and then report back in a week where we have gone and what we did. I will probably go somewhere where French is spoken (hint, hint).

Seriously, though, please think about stepping away for a few days. We will all be here on the sofa when you return.

I agree with you, Dorothy. Jeanne has so much on her plate she needs one less “have to” right now.

  7. Anne Coldron in Christchurch NZ

Jeanne, will keep praying for you. And for you and Ron too Charlotte. Have a good, restful time at the 4H judging.

Since my hands are stiff and numb, I use a stylus. It’s slower, but it might be a good back-up for you.

Here’s something that may help. My sister Janeane wrote:

When we were driving to the airport when Justin and Lindsay were leaving, Justin asked Anna what her three favorite parts of the trip had been. She stopped to think about it and then she said, “Well, my most favorite part was getting Willow. I love her!”

Willow was Jeanne’s Willa doll, which I was lucky enough to get when Jeanne sold her. She even has a Jeanne-Marie original in her wardrobe. Anna, who is 7, loves clothes and design. Janeane waited until Anna was old enough to appreciate (and not destroy) Willow and has kept some of her wardrobe for next time. Willow and Anna have matching long red curls.

By the way, Janeane is my father’s way of spelling Janine.

I have a doll named Janeen. I like to use unusual spellings when I can but never thought of Janeane. I like it!
