HI everyone,
I’m getting ready to test out my new “internet” service… we are getting a big storm heading our way… so I’m waiting to see how well things go! I cannot believe how fast my pictures load now! Let it be known… I am THRILLED! Almost as soon as I lift my finger off the key that transfers the pictures, they show up! WooHoo!
I worked on Kirsten’s set today to get all the little things that needed to be finished up, finished! I decided to make a kerchief from the other half of the vintage hankie I used for her apron… It had a little spot in one corner and I figured I would probably not use it for an apron… but it’s okay for the kerchief.
Then I needed to figure out her “accessory” and decided on a basket filled with peaches and pears… I found a basket and lined it with a piece of lace… the lace is actually glued down, so the winner doesn’t have to worry about it sliding out. I used Joy’s idea of a church picnic and made my listing around that theme.
I have the listing scheduled to go on Ebay Thursday evening… so I’ll add the link on the side bar when it goes live.
Well, it doesn’t seem like I got much done, but I worked half the day on getting things finished up, pictures taken and edited, a haircut for my hubby, I helped him with a storm door he is repairing for someone, made dinner and now I have the listing done and almost finished with my post for tomorrow! It was a productive day!
I really wanted to take some outside pictures, but by the time I got the pieces all finished, it was getting dark and we have stormy weather supposed to come in tonight and tomorrow… so I didn’t want to wait…
It should be fine… :o)
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Jeanne, I don’t think this dirndl could get any better or sweeter! You did all the right things with it, and even made a cute little kerchief too! That was a great way to use up the rest of the hankie, and what else could you do with it anyway?
Everything just “clicks” in this outfit, and the little lace and bow trimmed basket is perfect for a day at the church picnic or a trip to the farmer’s market!
We did lose power last night for a time, but the lightning and thunder were the big things here. Hopefully, no damage to trees, but it is still dark, so who knows what we will find?
Hi Linda,
Thank you so much for your kind compliments on Kirsten’s set. Sometimes I cut the hankies a little more than in half and usually the smaller side isn’t enough to use as another apron. This was a larger sized apron and allowed me to get an apron and a kerchief.
We got some rain but it kind of split in the middle and went north and south of us. Funny thing was, my computer never missed a beat during the rain, but my phone wasn’t working like it always had in the rain… that’s a Kristoffer question…
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
Kirsten’s outfit is just darling!! The little kerchief is just the right touch, and it does look like Kirsten has been out to the orchard, picking peaches and pears. Perhaps she and mom will be making pies for the picnic?
Barbara, thinking about your comments yesterday, perhaps you could take the kids to your local Hobby Lobby or MIchael’s, and look at some of the “kits” they have there. There are kits to learn all kinds of crafts, everything from tie-dye to leather work to wood crafts to beading, etc. You might be able to find something they would both enjoy and has enough materials inside it for several projects. My friend has done that with her grandsons in the past–chooses a kit and they work on something together. The boys seem to really enjoy it. I can’t remember what they did last year, and I haven’t seen any posts about it yet this summer, but the ones I’ve seen in the past looked really fun!
Hi Charlotte,
I don’t know what I’m going to do when I run out of all my fruits and vegetables for my dolls.
I like the idea of arts and crafts kits for the kids. Everytime I’m in Hobby Lobby, I always see things I’d like to take a try at…
Thanks Charlotte,
Blessings, Jeanne
Kirsten looks adorable in her new outfit. I’m sure the special fruit treat will be appreciated by those attending the picnic. 🙂
Hope your stormy weather isn’t too bad. Today here, we’re looking at 86, with an excessive heat warning starting around noon. No rain until probably October.
Keep cool everyone. 🙂
Thank you Joy,
Kirsten really likes this set… but that’s what she told me about the last dress set too! :o)
The storm kind of went around us… so we didn’t get more than rain. My computer was a trooper and never slowed down but my phone was acting up and not doing what it normally does…
I’m going to ask Kristoffer about that part…
Thanks Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Dear Jeanne, I am glad your internet is working well. Technology is great except when it misbehaves. Of course, most of us in our generation can remember AV squads in high school.
I remember that the first “color” TVs just had pieces of colored plastic adhered to the front of the TV screen. And when microwaves first appeared people were afraid of them. They were seen as producing death rays from Mars or something.
The outfit looks lovely. I am sure that some dolly will be happy to have it.
Dorothy, yes, I do remember Amana’s Radar Range! It seemed like it was something from outer space to me, just the name with “radar” in it! And that plastic film on the front of tv’s was hilarious!
I remember having a Winky Dink green plastic piece that unrolled and stuck to the front of the tv tube. Then, you used special crayons to follow along with whatever was on the program to locate the hidden treasure. I think it was to teach colors and directions maybe. That was in the early 50’s. 🙂
Hi Dorothy,
I’m not remembering plastic things on the front of TV’s… maybe I was too young?? Sounds interesting though.
Thanks for the sweet compliments on Kirsten’s outfit.
Blessings, Jeanne
Dear Jeanne, you were too young. This idea was so silly but people did it anyway. We had one on our TV.
Just imagine taking Saran wrap and putting it on your TV. So the top of the screen could be red, the middle yellow, and the bottom blue. THAT was color TV. I guess technically it was color TV (laugh).
Of course our grandchildren’s grandchildren will be amazed at the “low” technology we have now. I am sure that by then cars will soar through the skies (smile).
Hi Dorothy,
The TV thing sounds really strange… I might have to find someone older than me and ask them if they remember that… hmmm…
Yes, I can’t imagine what things will be like in a few more years. I’m not sure I want to imagine them either.
Thanks Dorothy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Kirsten’s dirndl is darling and came together very fast. The little kerchief is perfect. I had no idea you had part of the hankie left, The whole outfit is lovely, but of course I love blue!
Thank you very much, Laura! I’m glad you like everything about it… (so does Kirsten!)
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Barbara, I second Charlotte’s idea of finding craft kits. I spent a few weeks each summer at my grandparents as my mom worked and my dad was doing year-round dental school. Besides the usual helping with the garden, help cook, bake, etc. I did fun projects with each one. My grandmother taught me to crochet, and continued on what my mom taught me about cross stitch. I started with stamped cross stitch at six and then moved on to counted later. We also did so sewing for my favorite doll and other handskills. My grandfather had a workshop and could build/ fix most anything. We did all kinds of wood projects together and he taught me how to use many tools. I always enjoyed helping place things that needed to be glued together in the table mounted vice grip. In the evening we played a couple of German board games or read together.
Oh yes, it is a wonderful total ensemble. An AG somewhere will be thrilled to have that new set. The peaches and pears are a perfect addition.
Hope the new internet connection will make it through the storm🫣
Thank you Kathie! Kirsten does look so pretty standing there in that pink and blue set! She ALWAYS look good in blue though!
The internet DID make it fine. I canceled my satellite service today… so glad I switched.
Blessings, Jeanne
