A little bit closer to finishing Kirsten’s dirndl….

HI everyone,
I have been busy working on Kirsten’s bodice (vest) and hope you like it… cause I’m not taking those stitches out! :o)

It took me forever to decide what I wanted to do to “spruce” it up a bit, and I ended up mimicking the flower rows in the apron. Well, I tried at least… they are “somewhat” like the flowers… Here is the full length view…

I did all the embroidered flowers and leaves by hand… just a random pattern I decided on…

Since that is all I got accomplished today… here are a few more views… OF THE SAME THING… :o)

I added 2 pink buttons to each side where the vest curved up…

I still have to finish the back of the vest and the collar on the blouse as well… and decide what should go at the neckline of the blouse.

So that’s what I was up to today… I never made it to your comments… but Joy, my new computer internet service is wireless… and it’s wonderfully fast… I am so impressed and sad I didn’t do this a long time ago!

Well, I must get to bed…
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, YES! I love the embroidery on the vest–it’s just perfect.

At first I thought “those buttons need to be moved in a bit”, and then I realized they were above the notches, which made sense. I’m wondering, though, if you want to keep them or not. would a tiny pink (or white) bow at the top of each notch) work? Or how would it be without anything above the notches?

I think a bow (to match any bows you use on the vest, but of somewhat wider ribbon) for the front neck. (Or the neck bow could be blue, if you don’t put bows on the vest.)

    Hmmm…..

    1. HI Charlotte,
Well, you may have liked it before… but I hope you’ll LOVE the changes I made even more! The buttons got changed too! Just wait till you see the new look!
      Thanks Charlotte,

Jeanne, my first thought was why did she put yellow flowers in the embroidery? Then I saw the pink buttons, and that somehow didn’t look like they should be there, so I put my finger across the buttons to hide them. It looked better without the pink buttons and the yellow of the flowers.

I’m also thinking, like Charlotte mentioned, of removing the buttons and putting bows at the top of the notches. And not pink ones! If you put bows there, maybe a pretty button at the neckline would work. The pink buttons sort of clash with the yellow embroidered flowers, from what I can see. We will have to see what others think.

    1. HI Linda,
I hope you’ll like what you see tomorrow! I did a little “presto-chango” to the vest!
      Thanks for your comments….
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. I know nothing about dirndls or this style so I’ll just say in my humble opinion some pink is needed in the embroidery. I like the pink buttons with the pink hem stitching, I didn’t even realize there was yellow in the apron until you added the embroidery. Maybe in person it shows up more. I really like the embroidery pattern. Another can of worms . . .

    1. HI Dorothy,
Wait till you see tomorrow’s post… I think you’ll be pleased! Yep, a can of worms, but it worked out okay this time…

I love the idea of the embroidery. Your work is lovely. I had to blow up the photos to find the yellow in the apron though. I don’t think it should be an accent color, but since it is there, perhaps add some pink flowers that match the color in the apron. I was delighted to see that the bottom of the vest now has a finish to it. So much nicer. I think smaller buttons in a paler pink the same color as in the apron would be my choice. I wouldn’t add bows. I think simple is best.
Okay, a wireless server. Sounds good to me. So glad you have something that will work during those storms. 🙂
I know many have been having a heatwave. Well, we’re heating up here as well. We have had a fairly cool summer so far though. Not going to like the heat outside, but in here, with that AC in the window, we should be comfortable. 🙂
Stay safe everyone, especially those in a heat zone.

    1. Hi Joy,
Like everyone else who commented, wait till tomorrow and I’ll be interested to see what you think!
I am LOVING this new faster speed… I actually did a speed test 2 days ago of my satellite because Kristoffer wanted to see what it was running at… the download on it was 1.62 mb per second and the upload was .19 mb per second.
I did a speed test today of my wireless and it was 300.3 mb per second for downloads and 20.65 mb per second for uploads… it doesn’t take a genius to see how slow my satellite was. Kristoffer said it was slower than dial up! Yikes!
      Thanks Joy,

Yes, maybe a few pink flowers in the embroidery would be a good idea! Then you could keep pink buttons!

I’m off to take my machine to the repair people but I just wanted to say that I love the vest as it is. I may be in the minority on this one.

    1. HI Barbara,
I hope you get your machine repaired and back soon… I had to have a loaner once, because they had to order parts and I said I needed something to sew with…
Glad you liked the embroidery as it was… but hold onto your hat for what I did today to it. I hope you’ll still like it!
      Thanks Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

The vest looks so cute with the added embroidery! I agree a bit of pink would be awesome too. Maybe some French knots to look like babies breath?
Isn’t it nice when a computer issue works? Bless Kristopher’s heart! We have a nephew who is an IT pro too but he just doesn’t visit often enough.☺️

    1. Hi Kathie,
Thanks for your sweet comments… and yes, Bless Kristoffer’s heart for helping his mom with the issues she knows nothing about!
Wait till you see the vest tomorrow.
      Blessings, Jeanne

Kirsten’s dirndl is coming along nicely. I love the hand embroidery and the way it brings out the yellow in the apron. On first glance the pink buttons are a bit too much of a contrast and the color too modern. I went back to study the dolls dressed for the 4th in last week’s post. There were bows, buttons, and flowers. All made for a charming outfit, if you keep the pink buttons the outfit will manage to be just right in the end; they always are.

    1. HI Debbie,
Thank you for taking time to comment… I made some changes to the vest.. .hopefully you’ll like them, and hopefully everyone will be in agreement with the changes too!
I’m glad you enjoyed the 4th of July dresses last week…
      See you tomorrow Debbie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. I think it’s lovely! I have read the comments, and I’m amazed at all the suggestions. I don’t have such a good eye for colors and things, and I’m so impressed at the tiny details other people pick out. I can’t wait to see what you do with it next.

    1. HI Conni,
Well, you WILL see some changes tomorrow… hopefully you’ll like what I did to the vest… Thanks for thinking it’s lovely!
      Blessings, Jeanne
